Day forty one of our epic New Zealand Adventure with The Morris.Traveling between Rotorua and the lodge in the middle of the Timber Trail. We start our ride tomorrow. We did a few caches on the way here.Grabbed the cache and then went and read the stories and had a look at the stone.Someone had made an exquisite fern frond and placed it inside. Thanks, Robmc.
Day 41 of our Enzed adventures with Robmc and today we leave Rotarua and head North. We had enough time to enjoy a few caches as we travelled, including this special spot. Thanks for contributing to an amazing holiday.
Lovely spot to stop. I've always just flown past in the car prior to discovering geocaching.Heard a couple of cars tooting in acknowledgement to the rock's legend...thought they were tooting at me at first TFTC and thank you for the idea of the container...I'll keep all mine now, I'm always munching on these mints.
Stopped in after completing the Bison Series.Co-ords a bit out but common sense made it an easy findLog signed tm/ww NZTFTC
Found on a short trip away with woolwood9. We soon had the container found here. SL *tm/ww NZ**Thanks for the fun cache!*
This cache has been my nemesis for several months! Whenever I've been past, the carpark has been busy, and I've had to drive on without stopping. Today, though, all quiet, so pulled in for a quick search. No luck at the coordinates, but after reading the logs and readjusting my thinking, I tried the other side, where I made a quick find. Cache is about 9 or 10 metres out. Signed, and returned as found, just as another vehicle pulled in. Tftc!
Didn't find, the trucks zooming past was very off putting so possibly didn't look as hard as I could have.
Headed down to the Bay for a family birthday surprise visit and needed a leg stretch so decided upon this local to stop......had been keeping an eye on this one every time I pass, but as it is a busy spot for travellers to stop, it usually has people very near the cache....today was all clear so allowed me easy searching time....the find was made nice and quick and returned before any traffic even came down the road....TFTC and the leg stretch.
Thanks for your amazing cache Chemrox. I really appreciate the time you took to set up and maintain your caches.Found with Fisha1288 Cheers, Cympull.
Nice quick find on our way home, no one at gz so made for an easy grab, thanks for the placement.
I was heading home from a few days in Taup......and suddenly realised I should be checking up on Caches I might pass on the way!Back I went, and this was the first I had missed.Have been here in the past too...Thanks Chemrox
We have driven past here many times and always forget to stop. We have found a cache here previously. Today was the day we would remember a cache was here and stop in for it.Found after looking in the second spot.Thank you Chemrox for placing this cache.Log signed as B&PFind number 5011
out caching with watcache as we head towards hamilton for a few night to go to the open day at the scout jamboree. tftc
Nice quick find here today Cache 8600 for us for last day 2023.Out caching with xsaveya today as we head north.A wet windy day but that not stopping us. Cache all good here tftc
Together with Travelser I'm going Down Under. We are driving around with a motorhome. After 7 weeks driving around through Australia we arrived the 2th November in New Zealand. For ten days we will cross the Northern Island and than for 2 weeks the Southern Island.During our trip we of course search for several caches. Most of them brought us to very nice spots, like this one.All the CO's, and in this case Chemrox, thanks for bringing us here and give our trip a special accent.
After traveling around Australia with Oopie for 7 weeks, we have now been traveling with the camper in New Zealand for 4 weeks. Along the way we will of course also visit various types of caches in beautiful places, including this one. Thanks CO for creating and laying this cache.
I know this spot and could not spy it this time. However another time when I drive past again to have another go. TFTC
With thecamilias first to sign the new log! Trust the hint more than the GPS. I love the story about the rock. Left offerings
A great place to stop as we make our way to Atiamuri, and just down the road from the cheapest diesel we've seen in quite a while. Its great to have plenty of room to park the campervan too.
Thanks for putting this here.
Thanks for putting this here.
We debated whether we should cycle down to this one from the river trail but decided to put this off and do by car. I think that was wise, the highway was very busy. I did not know this place existed and had not heard the ancestor stories so this was a very informative stop. TFTC
Today the yraffic was a bit quieter, so we stopped after several times passing at great speed.
Now to check the rock.

I was going to say the CO needs to change the cache name as it is Te kowhatu o Hatupatu, not Te kohatu. There is a sign on site saying kowhatu (photo). But I watched the video, an interesting story, and it uses kohatu. I suppose it is a dialectal difference, such as the Wanganui iwi, who would saw "kowatu".Interesting place. Thanks for showing it to me Travelling north to Rotorua from Lower Hutt for Christmas - its a two whole day journey, because I keep stopping at places like this. Actually the reason I am in Whakamaru/Mangakino is because here is one of only six caches in the country needed to complete a challenge cache in Kapiti. And while I am here I may as well see what Mangakino has to offer. See? I did say it takes two days to drive to Rotorua from Lower Hutt!
Allgood here nice little stop and soon had cache in hand, TFTC. Had a browse of the rocks and history of the place while here too
Travelling in bus moho with PussNcat. Easy stop an find . Thank you, beautiful spot
I had to wait a while to get this one as a muggle was parked in front of easy eating a snack.
I went for a walk to the rock to kill in time

A nice place to stop off on the way to Taupo with some very interesting history.
The cache was a quick find after waiting for a gap in the traffic.
Thanks for bringing us here.

Heading off on our mad dash away to Whanganui for the weekend caching, decided that it was time that we came this way again - haven't been caching this way for a very long time. Nice quick stop here with no muggles about at this time of night. TFTC

Another quick stop as we head home. Thanks for the placement and anther smiley .
On a trip to the south Waikato with KGD. The weather was great and so was the company. A quick find and I am sure there was one here many years ago tftc
8153. A day out with Boges grabbing caches in the south Waikato. Managed a quick find and sign here which was just as well as while we were climbing back into the car another vehicle pulled in. Thank you for the placement
Don’t overthink this one; it is where you first think of when looking at the guardrail but with poor cellphone service I too spent a bit of time walking around. Ended up being in the first place I had looked. Easy png if I’d looked harder to begin with. TFTC!
Maplerose is back in the country for a few days and she suggested meeting up in Turangi for a couple of days to catch up and cache up. I have seen this area before but usually there is a lorry up my backside so I haven't been able to pull in. Today the road was quiet so I stopped and made a quick coffee so that I could wait for the 2 cars in there to go. Once the coast and road was clear I checked quite a bit of the guard rail as per the hint and eventually had to brave the potential cobwebs and spiders and reach in.
We have driven past Hatupatu Rock more times than we would like to remember and finally geocaching persuaded us to stop and look. Its a very nice stopping place with the story of the rock well told and a collection of native shrubs with a plaque naming them.
Nice stop off on our way home to Auckland! I need to get used to putting my hand in places with spider webs lol
I always like to grab the occasional cache while on a long drive, and this is a great place to stop briefly while heading past today. Nice quick find here, cheers
Last one for the day after a fun caching day with Mum. A great spot to stop and a nice park and grab as well. TFTC.
Great place to stop and say hi to Hatupatu. On our way to Taupo for a friends birthday and needed a little stop on the way TFTC
Took a mini weekend trip with the family to enjoy the water park in Taupo. Sure was a blast but I needed to do some caching.
We were on the way home and wanted to pickup quick ones on the way.

Getting back into the swing of geocaching. Found this one while driving from Hamilton to Taupo. Quick stop and find. Thanks for the cache
Heading south to see more family for Christmas and we needed a driver swap, so pulled off here. Mrs HeMaLuDy was saying we found a cache here, and then checked the map to see there was this new one. A nice quick find, thanks.
**S 38 22.685 E 176 00.103**#13,212. Park and grab off State Highway 1 in Kinleith. Fortunately, GZ was all quiet at the time of our visit. Relatively quick find after searching around. GPS was about 7 metres away. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.Thanks for the placement, and for bringing us to this site, and .T h a n k s. .f o r. .t h e. .c a c h e..M a u r u u r u. .k o e. .n u i. .a t u. .h o k i. .t e. .k e t e r o k i.
Found on the way to Taupo before heading south... A brief but interesting stop, TFTC )
This brought back some memories, found the original at The Rock GCPM25 in June 2006. The place has changed a bit since then. TFTC.
Seem to remember being here before. Previous caches must have gone. Thanks Chemrox.
Found this one while passing by, no problem with the find. Someone did toot while we were there TFTC.
Whilst out on a mission with EyeSpyBen , soon had this one in hand, signed and returned,TFTC
I was here chasing the FTF for the last cache here when I passed 6 years ago (I was 2TF) so good to see another in place. Nice and easy and replaced as found.
Left Taihape later than I'd hoped thanks to a certain thing taking Extra time and I paid the penalty with a reduced itinerary. Caching still happened though.
The weekend is here and for a change I've got a four-dayer planned with a trip across from Taupo to Napier to have a couple of nights in Havelock North and local area, followed by a trip back across the Napier-Taihape Road to stay at our daughters for a day before watching the football on Monday and then Coming Home, he's coming home, capperz is coming home (football didn't as it turned out! Well done to Italy.
A few nice caches found, not huge numbers so quality rather than quantity. A few more of the PWGT caches as well as some others here and there, thanks to all COs.

It is a while since we've been on this stretch of SH1, so it was great to see the improvements at this historic site. RFTC.
