Great hide! Unfortunately the paper was too wet to sign. found with Vandahar and our kids!
Whare else do you do after a chiropractic appointment Go for a stroll up and around Mt Wellington Its a relatively flat track so was a nice walk. Thanks for placing the cache.
Absolutely stunning and amazing to think how it has grown and survived like this. Loved it. Favourite from me. Thanks for putting a cache here thylacin
Sensational spot! Really enjoyed the walk and the tree is just mind blowing! What a determination to just live!
What an amazing place, trees really will grown anywhere! Had to dig out the cache, was jammed in there.
This ground zero was awesome. I'd never seen or heard of the octopus tree, so seeing as I was passing relatively close by I made the detour to come check this one out. There was nobody about so I was free to oggle and admire. Such a cool tree.Getting down to business I was all over the shop. Ignoring the hint I ventured too far, then coming back too far again . Eventually spied where I needed to be and the cache was found in the logical spot not long later.Reluctantly I peeled myself away from this epic giant and continued my trudge down the mountain and back to civilisation. Thanks so much for creating a cache here to honour this mighty tree. An easy favourite !
Another walk on the mountain today, and my partner had never seen the octopus tree, so we went there on the way back. After a brief look last time failed to find the cache, I had a better think this time which way was truly north and headed in that direction. Quick find this time, as the cache was out in the open. After signing the log I replaced it nearby where I thought it probably was originally.TFTC
Wow thats a sneaky little find but the hint is good! Lovely place to hide a cache. The octopus tree is really cool!
I decided to go find 1 more cache today, so that my find count was more than 666 for the year.I think the council need to change the signage at the Circle Track junction as it is not suited to people traveling from the south along Shoobridge Track. I ended up taking the wrong track and although the numbers were going down, the arrow started pointing more and more left until the track did a hairpin turn. I took out the phone and zoomed in on the area to find I was on the Circle Track and not heading toward the Octopus Tree. I backtracked and soon arrived at GZ and the cache hide was spotted quickly. Thanks for the cache!
We spent a while looking in the wrong places before making the find. A nice area, and the tree is amazing, favourite point given. Thanks for the cache thylacin!
What a beautiful tree. Kids and I had a race who'd find the cache first and were shown who's still the boss here.
Couldn’t find this one unfortunately. Still had fun searching for it though and the tree is amazing!
We had quite a look around and found a container - unfortunately it was someone's rubbish instead of a cache ( TFTC anyway )
Great cache, beautiful spot we loved the tree yet we did find that it has nine “legs” not eight!
Thanks!
The detailed hint was appreciated in this area where the GPS is always jumpy. Nobody about at all.

What a beautiful hike this morning on our way to Mt Wellington. Glad to say cache is dry and a smiley pin in for the next cachers.
Thanks for the smiley face for us both.

What a tree!
Amazing what nature can do.
Found the cache easily, all good except a little damp.
Thanks!

Came here, forgot to check map...of course there is a cache here! Back we came and uncovered this one. Thanks!
We walked up to The Springs then to Octopus Tree via Sphinx Rock. My grand-daughter found the cache.
Not sure if it what we found was it...rusty can with stocking like octopus legs!
Might need maintenance

Think I found it, I found a rusty tin with a plastic lid that I couldn't open, could have just been litter not sure.
It turns out the goose found this cache 2 years ago with WW while I was recovering from a broken foot a PE and a few days in hospital, so today is was the firs chance I have had to come back, after a short search the acche was found and I added my name to the log.
After having a few weeks of being a trio of cachers it was back to just Goose and myself, Budgie ditched us in favor of his family So we went and found some caches he had already found and did some of the maintenance for the Tas_Community account as we had a few old caches that need a bit of love.
Thanks for the caches.

Out on yet another hike / lengthy walk to burn calories. This hide was 1st cab off the rank on my 7.97km round trip [^] in the Wellington park area.
I was amazed when i saw this awesome, natural sight pics were taken.
With the handy hint i was off in the direction of the cache and spotted it some 5m from GZ
SL at 10:37 on TGIF 4 February 2022.
The cache and contents are fine and dry.

For some reason we've never actually visited this tree before. In the last 3 years of living in Tassie we've visited pretty much every other landmark and peak in the entire Wellington Ranges, including finding every cache (that we know about) from the altitude of the Springs and above. Great to finally tick this one off and the tree was a lot more impressive than we were expecting. TFTC!

Bit of a weird walk to this one..... got within 50 metres and the GPS was point out of right ear
Oh must have been the track I turned right instead of left.
Went back and walked this track..... Ok closest I can get is 100 metres.
Back to the original track and stuck it out and found the cache where it should be.

Wow what beautiful tree! My first time walking around the mountain! In love and can't wait to return! Thankyou for putting a cache here or us to enjoy
Set out to get a few outstanding caches on Mount Wellington today. This one has been on our radar since it come out late last year. We have visited the Octopus Tree on a few previous occasions and it is certainly an interesting natural phenomenon. All good and quiet at gz today, cache quickly located and signed. TFTC
Thanks thylacine for the cache. Have been to the Octopus Tree on many occasions before. Amazing tree. A nice quick find today, due to the hint.
I just realised that I saved this post rather than logging it Signed log TTM. TFTC
Thanks for the cache thylacin.
Decided to head out for a walk and dragged KingSmev along for some fresh air. We parked nearby and were soon at GZ, just about to check the likely hide, but had to wait for a muggle, and then took a pic of her and the tree for her on her camera.
Then, a quick find, all good at GZ.
I have found a cache here previously, but always good to walk in Wellington Park, and to visit or revisit special spots.
Thanks for the adventure.
Cheers, EPs.

Looked at a likely spot but it was only when Sue rechecked it that it was found.
Hi thylacin,
TFTC,
A nice quick walk on the mountain for something to do today with EeePees. A muggles was taking some photos so we has to be discreet and wait patiently for them to pass before finding it.
Thanks again,
KingSmev

Travel Bug CV5KZD collected from cache. Nice looking bug. Will move it to one of my caches shortly.
Thanks for the cache thylacin.
This is a great place, so it's good to see another cache here. I found the previous one a few years ago. Today the GeoGSP was at doggy daycare for the day, so I headed to the mountain to grab a few on tracks that are not for dogs. I found this on on my way to one on the North-South track. A nice quick find. Dropped a TB.

After a long hunt for another cache up at the summit, and a refreshing coffee at lost Freight, Mrs whitewebbs and I stopped on the way back down to look for this cache. As we walked along the track we were overtaken by two very fit looking walkers, whose destination ended up being the same as ours (but not for the cache). We hung back until we were asked to take a photo, then ended up having a good old chat.
Once they left we soon spotted the cache hide thanks to the updated hint. I think we would have struggled without it!
Thanks thylacin

Today Mrs W teamed up with the goose and decided to head up the mountain to find a couple of new caches that have appeared. After spending a long time at the previous cache we headed here after a quick stop for coffee to hopefully a quick find (which it was once the muggles moved on). A very impressive tree. Found quickly due to very precise hint as GPSr was not pointing that way. Nice to see another cache placed here which Mr W had found a long time ago. TFTC
On the night it was published had a good look at it but unable to make an attack on the cache until now because of other pressing domestic factors.
Today had a small window of opportunity and made my way to the parking spot. Pleasant, if cool, walk to GZ. Chatted to a small group on the way. Inquisitive 6/7 year old wanted to tell me about his orchid finds and insisted on knowing where I was going. Informed him that I would be walking further on to search for a geocache and mum knew all about it and promised to explain it to her son.
Got to the right area and spent some time viewing the amazing tree. Well worth the walk for that. Then set about honing in on GZ. Took a little bit of thinking because (as suggested) the GPS reception is dodgy in the area. Soon worked out a couple of potential options and the second proved fruitful. No boat needed for this one thylacine, just a pleasant walk along a track free of bikers up to that point.
TFTC, loved the tree.

A quick find while on walk today with Geodog and Geoson. Logged with a painted rock and returned to its hiding place. Tftc

I saw the listing come out while i was at work, but unfortunately i couldn't just up stumps and leave. And i had a child to pick up from class on thr city at 6:30. After sorting that out, i made quick work of getting here and walked up to the cache site. I have looked for a cache here before some years ago (it was between the last find abd being archived).
My GPSr was sending me all over the place so i stated searching the many places that could meet with the hint. After an initial "minimally intrusive search" and progressively widening the net i came back and started moving things out of the way. Turns out it was more or less close to where i instinctively atarted my search. The cache was retrieved just as a gaggle of mountain bikers went past. It was a fresh empty log, but not for long, before being returned.
Drizzle started just as i returned to my chariot .
