Gz was coming up away from the bees. But couldn't locate the cache today. The smell of honey in the air was delicious. A trip into Grafton to get antihistamine was needed after a sting. Ill be back
Those are European honeybees. Observe and stay out of their flight path. This is their home ??
I had a quick look but couldn’t get mobi signal to settle.

I read in the description that the bees were native ones and don't sting but then I read a log that said a cacher was stung a number of times on the face. In the end, I decided that discretion was the better part of valour and I left this one alone. Because of the bees, I'm wondering if the CO would consider moving the cache to the root end of the fallen tree. Anyway, it will be a while before I'm back this way again and will have an opportunity to avenge this DNF. Thanks anyway.
There is a bit of a geotrail to this one, but there is a definite geo parking trail which is a first for us.
As we approa he'd GZ we heard the buzzing and were excited to look at some native bees, but as we got closer it became apparent that they were probably the stinging variety so we backed off.
The cache took a fair bit of searching and prodding around to find, which probably wasn't helped by the ever present threat of the bees.
In the end the cache wasn't really hidden, just sitting out in the open but it needs in so we'll it was hard to find.
The container came apart with a bit of elbow grease, but we struggled to close it back up.
Thanks for the cache!

Well I feel it’s our responsibility to let you know the bees are back. Geohubby gave up the look for the cache after the 3rd sting to his face. We figured the bees were alerted and alarmed just now so it would be best to return some other time and approach from a different direction. With that in mind we’ll return another day.
Then, hahaha, he’d run as fast as he could away from the bees, through the grass, and jumped in the car, in relief but didn’t discover he’d run out of one of his shoes in his rush until he got out of the car at camp with only one shoe on.
Looks like an earlier return to GZ than expected will be necessary. Hahahaha

With rain coming down I returned to GZ with my daughter to rescue the lost shoe. It was found in the grass a short distance from the road and sadly now very wet. We had to laugh.
Not wasting the trip we set about looking for the cache. It is hard to spot but after a good 10 minutes we found it safe and sound. With my daughter keeping her eye on the bees I gladly signed the log on this one. We earned our smiley.
A photo of the main hole in the log for the bees is only one of its several entrances or exits. Don’t put your hand on the top of the log and don’t go to the back of the log between it and the fence. We had no trouble on this visit even though we could see the bees flying around.
Thanks for the cache!

I also found termites, March flies, mosquitoes, cattle and biting ants. No Native bees, it looks as though the branch has been cut out and taken
Love native bees.
STL TFTC also favourite point.

This one took quite a while. We found the hive of bees which were very active in the warmth. We weren't going to trust them being stingless, but the distraction certainly threw us for a while. We wandered round and round until Mrs SKI finally spotted the cache.
It was only a short trip today as we moved from Grafton to Woolgoolga. Couldn't get a site on the way up, so decided to take the short trip back to spend some time at the beach!
As usual we made some short diversions and some stops to pick up some caches along the way. Once in town we set up and looked for some caches nearby and completed the Adventure Lab. The place has changed a bit since we were here last. Biggest loss is the local Indian Restaurant with the elephants. What a shame!
Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache IndigoBlue1.

Found the RomeoAlphaTango, don't go near the big end there is a bees nest. Coongoola & Geodog are on an adventure after attending the Townsville Mega event in Qld. We found your cache today 12 June 2022 11:22 am , while enjoying another day out adding to our tally. TFTC IndigoBlue1
This was cool. Needed a lot of muscle to open it, also theres a beehive nearby, beautiful little critters. beeware
Spent a little bit of time searching for this one with geochild "Ihategeocaches" chucking a geotantrum when I found it first.
What an amazing cache!!!!

It was a nice sunny day so I decided what better thing to do than go geocaching. Stopped and did this cache on my way to Grafton.
I looked all over the place for the cache, I found the bees other cachers had mentioned, no cache there. Then I stopped in a particular spot and looked down and there it was.

Eww, added plastic bag over log and geo dad manger to open it with a screw. Very rusty! Thank you!!
Found at 10:36 AM GAFF3 at a distance of 8 metres - however the hint doesn't help in finding the cache, it just confirms what we thought we were looking for.
This cache was a bit of a challenge and deserves the higher D/T rating - it also started to rain which hampered our "getting around" abilities [B)] Another excuse was that the GPSr kept changing its mind as to where GZ was - and eventually it settled in a very unlikely spot (considering the structures that were all around ) So after storming around the scrub for about 15 minutes, we finally found the little rodent which was very well concealed - not with camo, but by its colour which blended in very well with its surroundings.
Thanks IndigoBlue1 - now back into the car to dry off!

Ahh! Mr wandering Me has struck gold. The container is very wet and log damp but ok. Put him to rest now. many thanks IndigoBlue1
Standing out in a much more obvious way today. Geotrail helped somewhat as well. Pleased there were no bees in evidence unlike my last visit. tftc
Grafton Day 2
We have now settled into the Greyhound Racing Club at Grafton for a few days.
This morning we continues the BRS trail of caches. There were a number of others we included in our list of to do as we passed by. This was a very pleasant scenic drive around a large area of farming land.
This certainly deserves it's difficulty rating. We knew from the cache name what to look for. It took us some time to spot it.
Thankyou IndigoBlue1 for placing this cache.

Got out and about early to find a few caches just south of Grafton before heading back up north to finish the BRS series and to visit Yamba and Iluka.
Still trying to work out why we were brought to this spot but a smiley Is a smiley. TFTC
Today is another day in the Coffs region, picked this one up on the way

Had an idea of what we might be looking for due to the cache name. Alas, after being thrown all over the place by the GPS we finally had the little rodent in hand! TFTC
The caching fun goes on as we travel the back roads with ilook4geo.
There was no problem in finding this cache. Did not understand the significance of the cache title until we found it. Good one! The log was duly signed with both names, before being put back into place. Thanks go to IndigoBlue1 for this cache placement.

Enjoyed finding some more caches with goingplaces2. Found cache here, signed log, replaced as found. Liked the cache topper used here. TFTC.
Out and about caching today around the countryside, while visiting from Brisbane. Today found a number of caches and thank you to the CO for their placement. TFTC
Our second full day in Grafton and staying mostly around town - luckily we did because a storm blew through around lunch time and no more caching for the day!!! Thanks to the COs for placing these caches to enhance the enjoyment of caching - it is greatly appreciated for your time and effort.
No smiley for us here. Oh and those bees are not native stingless bees, but European Honey Bees, complete with stingers. I spent a minute just watching them flying in and out of their hive and they will ignore you if you aren't threatening. But even so be careful.
Logging a find this time. Was in the company of earthly65, who found it. Took Nothing Left nothing al
Way too many bees buzzing around gz for me to bother searching any longer. First the dog decided the area wasnt for him, so I put him back in the car then returned for another go with further hints from someone. Nope this is another cache ill come back in winter for, too many beastie hidey holes for me .

Headed south to grab a few FTFs
This one is much harder than D1.5. As there are sooooooo many hidey holes & spots.
After 25min search, I had my hand on the prize. This log may get wet when it rains.
Cheers
