On my way to the blue mountains for a midweek caching trip. Only a few caches on the way. Then in the Mountains was all over the place between Lawson and Lithgow. Well last minute change after all those puzzles solved last night, I also had to detour via Portland.TFTC Wilbert67

This was a great place to see what Lithgow was about in the good ol' days. The site is well set out for tourists with good signage and plenty to see. Loved the gabions made of old bricks and metal bits... a clever way of displaying history and making it useful. The Bonus was easily found... nicely placed away from anyone who doesn't need to find it. TFTC Snoopy1976.

Been on a week-long road trip and hubby allowed me just 3 caches! One DNF at Hands on Rock, but we had success with Uranus! And of course this adventure lab. Had this one on the to do list for a while. Been here a few times before on the road between Sydney and Mudgee it makes a great stop. It's such an under visted place always so quiet!Thanks for the Adventure. Easy find for the bonus cache.

#6,147Took a quick trip out west today, and noticed an AL at the Blast Furnace site on our way back towards home. After some earlier downpours the weather decided to briefly clear, so we were able to wander through the ruins and complete the AL. With the coordinates for this cache obtained, we set off for a quick walk and soon had the cache in hand.Thanks & namaste

Find # 10620On a brief work trip to Tassie and I have a long list of caches to collect so no time for spinning the wheels Couldnt believe my luck to land this trip before year end so I can soon qualify for a number of different challenges requiring a visit to the 8 S/T in the year. Picked up the trusty SUV hire car on arrival and off I got. Making the most of the opportunity to duck out for a few hours of caching fun. Seeking out the occasional challenge or two, or trying to mop up as many solves as I can to keep that long list under control. Seems to increase faster than it decreases Grrrr when the ADLAB is sequential and then the bonus is no where near where youd expect. Oh well, bonus it is and a nice easy find here. Clearly visible if you approach from the lower side.Thanks so much for the many caches Snoopy1976 and of course for giving me a reason and incentive to get out here, and to experience this part of the world in a different light

Found on our return journey from Bathurst.

This was a great lab, very interesting and well worth the visit. We're visiting to collect unfound LGAs and lived near Lithgow 20 years ago so its been great coming back and seeing how much things have change (and in some cases no changed)Cache was easily located. Tftc

Didn't do AL part but found a cache that was in a fairly open area. Signed log and put back in same area with a rock on top. Then checked out what was left of Furnace. TFTC

This was a joint find with ilook4geo. A nice wander took us around the park to dig out the info required. The co-ords given on completion took us to a quiet area and the container was quickly found. Both names were soon on the log and the return to the vehicle was not too far away. Thanks go to Snoopy1976 for creating this lab cache and for this bonus cache placement as well.

This cache was found after doing the AL with goingplaces2 and the whole walk was a good one with so much info on signage in the park. TFTC.

I'd spent the night up on the Newnes Plateau above Lithgow. The day started off overcast, and became rather dark and grim as the day wore on. The town looked quite bleak under those lighting conditions, and the old ruins of the blast furnace matched the leaden skies.I'm glad the history of the industry here has been preserved with a park and a self-guided walk around the ruins. I completed the Adventure Lab and then plotted the final co-ords for the bonus cache.Despite the dark skies and the threat of imminent rain, there were surprisingly many people -- mainly families -- out in the park. Finding the cache was the easy bit, but I had to wait quite a while before there were no people around so that I could return the container after signing the log.Then it was time to head back to Sydney, braving a bit of rain along the way.

Found It!
I joined the GeocachingNSW AGM on zoom from the carpark here. Once that was over, I went for a walk in the dark to this one. A quick find once I got to the final location!

This was an interesting Adventure Lab and we enjoyed the walk around the sites. We managed to overcome the obstacle of the missing information board. Finding the final cache was a straightforward affair - a nicely hidden container in a sensible location. Greetings from New Zealand.

#22620. We weren't sure if we would have time to do the ad lab, but thankfully we did as it proved to be very interesting. Things were looking a bit dicey towards the end of the ad lab as there is a missing info board at location 5. However, good work by Troodles mean she found the info elsewhere. Cache wasn't far away and was quickly found. TFTC.

An interesting area to visit. We had trouble with the last WP as it looks like one of the info boards is missing by the railway line.
We found a map closer by the carpark which had the info needed. Thanks for bringing me here and TFTC.

This was a fascinating place. Engineer Muggle Husband was very happy to spend time here, which was a relief, as it was a hot day and I had had a string of DNFs, which did not help things. The adventure lab was very easy, and the bonus cache was found without any difficulty.

No luck after spending nearly an hour solving puzzles the coordinates sent me into the water

I was heading out west with some of the boys from my family for a caching weekend. We were supposed to have gone to find some of the Ying Yang series of puzzle caches that we had solved. Unfortunately, the recent rains meant that some bridges and roads were flooded and preventing access. Heading west was Plan B.
After completing the AL, we headed to this bonus cache. As we neared GZ, there was a grandfather and grandson basically where we needed to go. Undaunted, the others searched for the cache while I explained what we were up to. I gave them an explanation card I carry as they appeared quite interested. I wonder if they'll join up? I quite enjoyed learning all about the blast furnace, a location I had not been to before. Thanks for the fun Snoopy1976.

I always love a trip to the Blast Furnace Park, been here many times before but never really noticed the wetlands. It was icy cold today but I enjoyed the lab cache and then the bonus find. Thanks for placing this in such a lovely location.
