New Zealand North Island - Day 2
Found with Joolay on a trip to NZ to find a geotour. Picked up this cache just as it started to rain so glad to have the cover provided by the tree. Cache in good condition. Thanks for the cool cache Fullofun

Every windy and started to rain again. Lovely spot.
Day 2 and wet wet wet.
So exciting to be heading to NZ. Have not been to the NI so looking forward to exploring. Did not make it to the last Mega because of Covid so wonderful Kittykatch and I can get here now.
Thanks for getting me out and about Fullofun

Up from Southland with Cantabrian Kiwicampnut to get the final piece of the PWGT puzzle.
Day 6 - Kaitaia to Bay of Islands via Cape Reinga. Another long day.
Almost muggled here as there was a couple carting up chilly bags and backpacks from a boat down the steps. Apparently they been fishing for marlin for a few days.
Quick find once we could get down.
Thanks for the cache Fullofun

Ruru_Nz and I on another road trip to complete this area of the Geotour before it finishes.
Heading up to cape and did this on way back. Easy find on the way out on the mangrove board walk. Think they need to do a bit of maintenance on the boardwalk as some planks loose and the wire mesh on top is also a trip hazard in places especially if you aren’t looking where you go.

Driving up to Cape Reinga, really enjoyed the outlook from the area of this cache and can see what the attraction here is to live in this peaceful place.
After taking a few photos, we grabbed the cache then drove to Honeybees to grab pies for everyone. TFTC.

Heading around the North Island picking up PWGT 1 & 2 caches and the odd other cache we drive past. Thanks for placing. Enjoyed stopping here today
Camped near Paparoa last night, and planned to be here much earlier today, but west coast Northland had too many distractions. So now we are staying overnight with a drive south in the morning.
The four wagging tails got to meet a local dog on the mudflats.

I'm on a road trip to the far north, attempting to complete the PWGT Tahi Geotour.
This is day three, heading from Kaitaia to Whangarei via Cape Reinga.
Will expand on my logs, post photos, qualifying caches for challenges, etc. When I get home. TFTC
Lovely scenic spot that I had no idea about driving north in the dark.

This PWGT is the furthest north we had, and we will completing the rallye this week! Yeeehee. Both container and logbook were in good condition. Nice wharf down there, and thanks for telling us all about the places. We saw a roadsign with the family name and knew who they were, we are definitely more knowledgable today than we were before doing the geotour.
A quick find on the way back from climbing the Spirits Bay island. Thank you for all the information.
I’m on a roadie north to complete the PWGT and find other interesting caches - oldies, puzzles and ones at interesting places.
Kia ora rawa atu for the cache Fullofun.

I'm on a GeoTour kind of road trip & was pleased to find this cache today - the Northern-most of the PWGT caches.
I stayed last night at Tokerau Beach: I hadn't really planned my day's caching but found myself heading this way to this beautiful spot. The cache was a quick find, thank you Fullofun.

My friend was heading up this way on a maintenance run having just taken over the nalawood caches. I enthusiasticly joined in as I have been meaning to come back up this way for ages. My last visit was in 2018 and there have been quite a lot of caches placed since then.
I'm hoping to get at least one section completed in this geotour as I'd love a geotour icon on my statistics page. I managed 3 regions last time but the caches are usually a long way out so it required a major effort and expense.
A quick dash down the path here, a lovely view and a quick find. Thanks for the cache

#11,529. Stayed the night in Kaitaia and now heading up to the Cape. Will pick up various geocaches on the way. This was one of my key target caches of the trip. I have the only DNF on this one and I was keen to avenge that. Well I came down the now familiar path and was somewhat dumbfounded to see the cache staring at me from its hiding hole as I stood on the path. Hmm. How can this be. I know I looked in that spot. In fact I think it was the first place checked back in January. It seems certain now that some local must have discovered the cache and moved it while I was there then decided to return it. There is just no way I could overlook an object this size in a place matching the hint. Anyway the past is history. I am here now so it was time to sign the log and gather the code. Signed the logbook and returned the cache where found with some natural cover over it. Thanks Fullofun and Ministry of Education for placing the cache here. Houhora is certainly a lovely place to hide a cache.
A lovely day to be visiting Pukenui. It was half tide so the harbour was probably looking at it's best.
+ a different type of marble, - nothing.

Good to grab the most North of the Tour caches!
As we arrived, one of the local dogs came running up to say hello. Very cute!
As we came down the hill, there was another dog, which although barking a lot, seemed friendly.
Found the cache quickly and replaced after signing.
Thanks for another GeoTour cache!

We stayed nearby last night, and came out to look for this one this morning before heading south again. Again there were a couple of children fishing on the beach close to GZ, but we were able to retrieve and replace the cache without being spotted as their attention was elsewhere. All good with the cache, codeword noted. TFTC Fullofun!
We had driven through some horrendous weather as we headed north today. The wind buffeted the campervan as we drove past trees and other traffic, so it wasn't the most enjoyable drive in that respect. Luckily we had been up this way just over a year ago during some stunning sunny weather so we know just how beautiful it can be. Just not so much today.
When we arrived the wind was still blowing but the rain had eased to a drizzle so we went to find the cache before having lunch. There was a young boy down at the waters edge playing around with a plastic container, he looked to be having a load of fun, he didn't take any notice of what we were doing.
GK quickly found the log, he passed it to me to sign and then he returned it as he found it. We then went back to the campervan and had some lunch while enjoying the views. I bet it is super stunning here on a fine day.
We are in the North Island to try to complete the PWGT Tahi section so we are having to head to the far north. Along the way we will pick up a few other caches that take our interest such as those with lots of favourites or size large or letterbox caches or some that will just help us to fulfil some of the various challenges we are working on.
With the new souvenir challenge we need to use the app to log the finds, but as I like to waffle on and write my stories on my laptop I am writing these while back at the campervan.
Thank you for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley

Note to self, take a torch when the sun has just gone down! What a beautiful spot! Got burgers 2km down the road and ate at a nearby picnic table. Tftc!
Until yesterday the furtherest I have ever been North was one of the 101 dalmation caches just north of Auckland now I can say this is the furthest I've been. Unfortunately this is as far as we are going on this trip but I already have the makings of a plan to return in my head. This geotour has whet my appetite and I want to return, there is so much to see in this beautiful part of the country. I admit to being a South Islander who believes the South Island is the most scenic but the little I have seen of Northland is stunning. As we approached the cache we were met by a cute little dog, then we heard a voice "I know what you are doing, I spoke to someone a few months ago doing the same thing" after finding the cache, collecting the codeword and having a quick chat with the muggles who were having their regular breakfast on the beach were back on our way heading south again. Thank you for bringing us here with the tour Fullofun

We couldn't see the steps until we were almost at the top of them. We were met by the cutest wee dog who came to greet us and its owners knew what we were up to because they had met someone else at the cache before. That was helpful as we didn't need to explain ourselves. They say they have breakfast down on the beach "in their lounge" every morning. I can understand why - its gorgeous. TFTC # 18,307
(# 7155) On a trip to retrieve the Auckland/Northland Geotour caches (TMGT/PWGT). Day 2 was from Whangarei to Pukenui (past Kaitaia). The weather was a little indifferent where there were some extremely heavy showers with fine periods in between. A quick find in a very pleasant spot. Thanks for bringing me here.
Talla64 and I are up from Kapiti on the PWGT trail, and enjoying it very much. Once again I am commenting to Talla that it's another beautiful area. Thanks for the history of the area Fullofun, and for the cache. Quick find, all good here.
Flowerydaze and I are on a mission to the far north on the hunt for PWGT1's and this was one of them. This is about as far north we need to go on this trip and what a beautiful spot to finish with. Another very interesting story, TFTC Fullofun.
I finally reached the top end of the geotour! Nice wee beach here. Cache was quickly found.
Travelled up from Dunedin for my first Mega event and wanting to sign off some geotour caches as well in Auckland and Northland.
Thanks for the cache, Fullofun

Another beautiful spot! Found this cache easily enough. Nice parking a bit up the road. These trees always make me think of pineapples baha.
Great little spot for a cache. Bring togs and go at high tide for a swim. The water was lovely. TFT found with Yvettetb and Travelbugtribe
Quick park and grab, we stopped here for an impromptu swim as the tide was in and a picnic morning tea. Thanks for bringing me here. TFGC
Spent longer swimming after finding this cache than actually finding the cache. Great place for a swim when the tide is high. TFTC
To say I was disappointed to miss finding this one would be the understatement of 2022. I had driven the length of North Island from Wellington to get here, as well as through smoke from the Maimaumau fires. Reading past logs I was expecting an easy find. It was only found by cachers the day before. Well I found a small pile a sticks and little rocks 1 metre off the path beside the base of the pohutukawa tree but nothing under them. I looked all around for 10 minutes. Still nothing. Went back to the car to swap from sunglasses to ordinary glasses to see better in the dark crevices. The only confusing log was ichyfeets who said she found it on the ground and replaced it somewhere else. The pile of sticks was on the ground. Was it hanging in the tree or in a hole somewhere in the pohutukawa, Then started a 10 minute search at all levels to find an elusive hole or crevice off the ground. Still nothing. Had to give it away. If its there its considerably harder to find than suggested in the logs as I would have searched for at least 20 minutes. Will need to come back on another 600 km trip north in the next year once its confirmed its either missing or I was severely cache blind. Sadly not full of fun today.
Yes picturesque little cove althoughit was very windy...I met the self appointed cove manager???? nice guy ...isn't it a strange world when you meet someone you don't in a far away place ..they always seem to have close family in the city or town you live in?? soon found and signed recorded the code and replaced as found ??thanks for the cache in a far away place
Bit of a haul up here today, but what a lovely little paradise. The wind was a bit gnarly though. We drove through quute thick smoke from the peat fire. At gz we were muggled by a local. He knew about geocaching and was interested to see there was one here. He "maintains" the cove so will take it upon himself to keep an eye on it. Thanks for the history and bringing us here fullofun.
Another cache in another absolutely stunning spot. The water is dark aqua blue and sparling. Might have been quite a few photos taken . Lunch stop in the Cafe up the road which was super busy - good for them. Cache found on ground so re placed where I thought it went. Just completed before a lady with two dogs headed my way. TFTC fullofun.
Great to learn a bit of the history. A quick find, in a cool little spot that I would have driven right past otherwise. TFTC
I have never ventured down this little side street before. Lovely views across the harbour and a quite little track down to the waters edge. Quick find at GZ. TFTC.
19 June 2021 14:30. TFTC, a beautiful spot to eat lunch and prepare a replacement cache for the one DNF'd earlier. Tftc
A nice quick find thanks. We overshot the walkway slightly, but not by far.
Ms_KR and I are on a wee break to find some of the Northern PW GeoTour caches. Today we cruised from Kaitaia to Paihia, The shortest road distance of the hoilday. We had some showers, but the day was mostly fine. Still a lovely day for driving and caching.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Headed up to get the 6 geotour caches we couldn't get the other week we were up here, thanks for the placement cache all in good order, found some more camo so it wasnt so exposed:)
We headed north for a week to have a holiday and of course, geocaching was high on the list of priorities, in particular, hunting down Geotour caches even though we are unlikely to finish any of them. Great fun regardless.
This was as about as far north as got on our trip and we drove in here and saw immediately what the Pukenui was. Our maunga back in Auckland is Puketapapa also known as Pukewiwi so we know the meaning of Puke well and of course nui is well known.
While Mrs Tuolei walked the hound for some exercise I scooted across to look for this one and found it at GZ no problem. Signed in and replaced as found. All good here. Thanks very much for placing and maintaining this cache.

I moved my snail shell from Opononi to Tokerau Beach and had a Grandad nap in the afternoon. So it wasn't until today that I decided to sign off a few PWGT caches and any others that got in my way.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
I was back in my homeland of Northland for a week with AliGle, showing her some of the sights and finding the occasional geocache on our travels. Popped down to look for this cache and thought it would be nice and easy. found the cache soon enough but another couple of people came down, which made replacing it a bit tricky... but got there in the end! TFTC!
A quick find. A couple of muggles around, so stealth was needed when putting it back.
Quick find here with Rebel98 on dusk. This was the furtherest north we went on our road trip. TFTC
We had a long and busy day exploring the Aupouri Peninsula. Second to last cache of the day here, quickly tracked down. Thanks for your great contributions to the Pōkai Whenua GeoTour. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into researching and writing up the caches - - - and of course hiding and maintaining them.
There was no one around and we expected to have the whole area to ourselves but as we approached the walkway a muggle appeared from nowhere and headed down.
We watched him from above and saw he had stopped at the bottom and was having a quiet smoke.
Fortunately he was just out of sight of GZ but still very close so we had to use extreme stealth and were very pleased to make a quick find.
We had expected he would take a bit longer smoking than he did so were taken a bit by surprise when he started heading back up but fortunately we had rehidden the cache by then.
We said a quick hello and commented on what a nice spot it was.
This was the furthest north we got on this trip, if we weren’t so focussed on the time constraints of doing this leg of the tour in one day, we had hoped to carry on a bit to Te Kao where Mrs Coblet’s grandmother used to teach on her first posting at the local school in the 1930-s to 1940s. She always talked about riding to school on horseback which we thought was pretty cool. Mentally noted to stop off if we make this massive trip again sometime.
Dropped a trackable.
Our 66th stop on the Pokai Whenua Geotour and our 33rd on PWGT1

Lovely views in warm sunshine. As far north as I go this trip. Time to head back to Invercargill.
Stopped here to stretch our legs on the way to surfing the dunes. beautiful place thanks for the cache
Roadtrip time, day 8.
I have used the Easter weekend combined with taking 4 days leave this week to get in a 9-day driving tour, hoping to get as far north as 90 mile beach in order to seek the recently published PWGT caches throughout Northland, as well as catch up with 4 different sets of friends.
Having spent last night at the campground in Opononi, I knew today would be a bit of a mad dash to try to get up to Pukenui and then back down to Kaiwaka by this evening, especially with the section of SH1 between Okaihau and Kaitaia still out of action due to a slip. I knew I would see a lot of SH10 today.
This was the furthest north I would travel on this trip, before making my way back to Kaiwaka for the night. Having previously not been up here since 1990, this is now my 2nd visit in 6 months, but I know there will be another visit to come when I can afford to take my time in this beautiful part of the country.
This was effectively a quick park and grab for me today. The cache itself was an easy find at GZ thanks to the good Co-ords and Hint, and with no-one else around I was able to sign and replace the log without any trouble. No issues to report with this cache.
Thank you for setting up this Geotour cache, and the history insight.

Staying at Coopers beach for Easter today was a massive day we did a big loop up to Pukenui down to Dargaville and back to Coopers beach collecting the PWGT caches. Thanks for placing and the history lessons along the way. Such a beautiful country we live in. Logging this one with CO permission. There were two muggle ladies sunbathing under GZ on the grass they were there for a long time. Beautiful place to sunbathe and relax.
This was the furtherest point north on our PWGT tour today. Beautiful location for a cache. Thanks. Adding a favourite point.
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... Chasing down the last few PWGT caches for Section Tahi. We’re whipping through Northland this weekend at a cracking pace. No time to enjoy the scenery or smell the roses - it’s a pity...
We shot away northward after finding accommodation and dinner. This cache was at the furthest extremity and a long drive into the night. By the time we arrived, it was totally dark, but the night sky was littered with clear starlight... We tried to find the access steps down to the cache. Gap was way ahead and had the cache out as we approached... Thanks for the interesting cache notes and history - Thanks Fullofun and TFTC.

goal this weekend was some work i had in the area.
but as usual i try and fit a little caching into these weekends.
with squirrel nutcase on board as navigator a little plan developed as we went. work was going to take me as far north as Mangawhai. early start Saturday a plot was hatched . with a bit of extra driving we could complete the northern section of the PWGT caches and be back for work Monday.
this cache is our most northern cache we would be doing this trip.
found entrance way in the dark. cache all good

Continuing our PWGT journey visiting the far north this weekend. Thanks to all the cachers for their efforts in setting up the GeoTours and sharing the history of New Zealand.
Furthest north we need to travel today and to complete the Geo Tour. Great views from the parking area and we lingered on for our lunch stop. Dogs had a run around down at beach. No problem with the find TFTC.

Loving this new Geo Tour. Loving all the fabulous containers. Many Thanks to all COs for time and effort put into these. On a spur of the moment solo roadie. Left early yesterday morning and headed north. This was my third cache stop today. I had to keep my eye blinkers on and ignore the many other caches tormenting me as I have limited days and decided to get the geotour ones only until I know how much time I have left. Fab placement
Changing from night to dayshift to move to the South Island later in the week, I was awake at about 3am. I left the motel and made a beeline for these caches.
After getting something to eat at the bakery, I headed up the road to get to Cape Reinga.. Obviously I stopped by here too, and thought I'd have no issues finding. Thought I was going to have to possibly do this on the way back down, as a concrete truck and a few workera arrived to do a driveway. Luckily I had no issues though

The weather was pretty rubbish, but since we had planned to go to Cape Reinga today and our future plans had been altered somewhat because of the sudden lock down, we figured we might as well head that way anyway and just hope the worst of the weather had passed.
Of course, no amount of rain would stop us from grabbing the new geo tour caches, so it was a quick dash to GZ and fortunately an equally as quick find. At least the weather meant no muggles to worry about.
Thanks for setting this up for us to find

Well, we are very pleased to have this cache completed (it has taken us 740kms from our home). Absolutely amazed with the incredibly amount of Avocado trees planted in the area!
The cache was easily located and we recovered well once we had completed the log. Another interesting history lesson about the local area. Thank you for the effort gone into this cache placement. TFTC

North Island for this new PWGT series of caches. We left at 4:30am from FMZ’s place. And plan to pick up other caches as well if they happen to be there too. This is an excellent tour, FMZ is doing all the driving in his 4WD and we contribute to gas.
There you go I have learnt something new, Puke means ‘hill and Nui means ‘large or big’. I didn’t know that Captain Cook made it this far up north, despite all the white man trading Hone Heke was out warring. Different times… I must check out the museum one day that’s mentioned.
I loved this little cut in the bank where you can head down to the water, and the cache too. There was a woman with her child there but a little distance away, far enough away I could find the cache with rusty. Took note of the code as we do. Thanks for the hide Fullofun.
