This was our second trip here, since last time the cache had gone AWOL. Did there used to be nettles around here? We can only see green golf course. This time it was a speedy find. Thanks Robmc

Spring Victorian Incursion 2024.Day Eight: Maribyrnong and Hobsons Bay. Weather: just a few spots of rain today.Id love to do more of this trail, but this is the last one for today. The nearby wall is where local graffiti artists vent their feelings, and the cache looked a bit vulnerable to me. Ive added to the camo and wished it luck. I dont remember seeing any nettles! Thanks again for the cache and the series Robmc.

A need for a walk before it began raining saw me travel over the Westgate, and down a couple of streets to park up in an informal car park off Hyde St. I appreciated the short travel time and got started shortly thereafter. My logs will include this standard blurb and then a comment or two about each cache separated from this blurb by a dividing line. Many thanks to the CO for making use of the lengthiest lockdown to place these additional caches along Stony Creek. I ended up walking (and finding) half of what I thought I might find when looking at the series on the computer/phone.I was just fine with that given it fulfilled the desired distance. I was also content to limit my time around Francis and Williamstown Rds. given the sheer number of trucks and amount of particulate spat out by them. By the end of the walk I could feel my eyes smart and chest tighten a little. I have no idea how those actually living on those roads cope with the amount of pollution they are exposed too. I'd imagine rates of asthma and other respiratory conditions must be far higher than less industrial areas.----Very happy not to have to traipse past mini muggles and their parents playing in the nearby playground.

With at least twenty days to cover this month, it's a case of taking any opportunity to duck out for a cache.

So why not see if I can avenge another DNF...

This was one I couldn't locate on a bike ride in the dark. Well, it's still dark, and the cache has been slightly relocated, so this time, it was a short drive to nearby parking, and a refreshingly quick find by torchlight.

Thanks, Robmc.

I had come over the the western suburbs to pick up some more finds for a couple of LGA challenges that I am working... and decided to tackle some caches along Stony Creek to increase my Maribyrnong Council cache count. To reduce the amount of walking, I relocated my car to Morven St for a nice and quick find...

Thanks **Robmc** for placing this cache.

No nettles and quick find. YAPIDKA too which is just as well given the industrial feel as trucks trundle and roar by. When you don’t live in Marvellous Melbs which is expanding at a mighty rate you don’t get to all the LGA’s or even across the river too often. So enter geocaching and suddenly you travel far and wide. I’m on a merry mighty multi mission that includes this LGA. Good reason to explore and get out and about on trusty treadles. TFTC and the fun.

*Cache find # 14142.*
I was now making my way towards home but at the same time, avoiding the freeway and going the back streets to the bridge.
When you go a different way, you come across all these caches that you would normally miss, this being one of them.
A quick find was had at this one and I was on my way.

**Thanks to Robmc for placing this cache.**

Found by Omegaman1971, Rebel Acts, Ski pair

With Rebel Acts marooned on this side of the city for the day it was a perfect excuse to put some smiles on the map and feed my OCD regarding finding all of the current sidetracked caches in Victoria.

Was great to finally do some caching with Ski pair, and share some caching stories.

Cheers for the cache

12-Nov-22
Found by Rebel Acts in the company of Ski Pair and Omegaman1971

I had to drop the girls off a Equitana at the show grounds to today and pick them up some twelve hours later so plans were made with my caching friends to meet up to do a few caches for the day we started in the western suburbs before feeding our Side tracked obsession and chasing a few off those, we had a great day out the weather was just great for caching, plenty of laughs were had a long the way.

This is one of the caches found today. Mr Ski was wear thongs today, I suggested he could go check out the Nettles for us.

Thanks Robmc for the cache.

12-Nov-22
No nettles around today, and a nice quick find.

The original plan had us likely to head elsewhere, but Rebel Acts was called on to take some keen horse fanatics to Equitania at the showgrounds. He was going to be in the area all day so we decided to meet him as we had been looking for the chance to drop our granddaughter's bike back at her home nearby anyway. We were also joined by Omegaman which led to a fun day with lots of stories and gentle sledging. A great day out that took us to a number of places we had not visited before.

Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Robmc.

07-Aug-22
Getting out to cache is getting harder as the kids get older however with one on camp and the other doing homework we grabbed the geo-pooch and hopped in the car.

I have wanted to get over this side of town for a while and today was the perfect day for it.

A quick find however as previously reported the log is saturated - so much so that I couldn't sign it even with a gel pen. TFTC.

04-Aug-22
Found by Mary and David at at 15:50. Cheered up here after our DNF at the previous cache. Log soaked and getting a bit slimy, but able to log our visit. Our thanks to Robmc.

24-Jul-22
The log is really wet but we tried to sign it anyway believing that it was waterproof paper but the ink didn't really work and it started tearing slightly so we stopped! Stare hard enough and you'll see easybeinggreen on the log now!! Gps coordinates weren't that far off though...we had a rather wide search area but it wasn't necessary! Thanks for another great cache Robmc

16-Jul-22
Found after GPS was totally ignored, and we knew there wasn't a chance it was where it was indicating. The log paper was soaked and so I didn't attempt to write on it. Thought it would tear it much more tgan it is. I sent the CO a photo instead. But since then, I see from a previous maintenance log that it's waterproof paper, so maybe it might not have torn more than it is.

12-Jul-22
Checked on a maintenance run today.
Cache is still there and ready to be found.
Robmc.

03-Jul-22
This was a DNF for us today.. Sad

03-Jul-22
Out with pinnacle333, we searched quite a few places all to no avail.

14:48, 13 Apr, 2022. #506.

Still going with log catch up, but I'm finally starting to get closer to the end. I'm not sure whether to blame slackness at writing cache logs or business with getting on with everything else life throws at me, but here I am still writing logs for caches I found months ago.

As for the detail on the log, pretty much what RGSBruce wrote Smile.

14:48, 13 April, 2022. #1802.

Had to make a run to Spotswood this arvo to pick up a prescription for one of the geo-dogs, so decided to make a stop on the way home to make sure April wasn't another cacheless month (it's been a very dry couple of years caching for HerIndoorOutdoors and me).

This one took a lot longer for us to find as one of us ignored their caching instincts and didn't look in the likely spot the iPhone's GyPSy took us straight to. "No, this can't be it, it's too obvious." So read a log or two and decided the GyPSy wasn't to be trusted. An idea the iPhone immediately supported by pointing 10 metres West of where we were, then a bit North of that, then a bit West again.

So after about 10 minutes of scratching around in the wrong places we thought, "what the heck, let's look at the first spot again, before we give up." Lo and behold, what did we find in the first place we looked? Complete with a fresh, new Rite-in-the-Rain log and all. Smile D'oh!

A very clever, well camouflaged cache, while simple in its execution.

The cache is in good condition.

TNLNSL. TFTC Robmc.

11-Apr-22
Replaced wet log with a Rite-in-the-Rain log.
Thanks for the notes about this.
The tanbark is doing a good job of keeping the nettles down.

Another nice Melbourne afternoon so what do you do after work, go and find a few caches on a trail put out by Robmc of course.
I keep staring at these green dots on my map and always think I will get to them one day so this afternoon is the day.
This ended up being the first one I found as I was muggled out at Royal Spotswood.
A nice little park and a strange look from a mum who quickly left as I came through which was a benefit as I had the place to myself.
A sneaky cache that was buried and also after retrieving it I opened it up and it was full of water and the log soaked so I could not add my name to the log.
Dried the container out but I did not have a new log on me.

Thanks Robmc TFTC.

19-Feb-22
Third time lucky! Took a bit of hunting rather than relying on GPS

10-Feb-22
This took rather longer than it should have, but I got there. Unfortunately the logbook is soaked.

TFTC! Last 2 times we looked for this cache, it was MIA. Great to add a smiley to this one.

Found by The Empire
We DNF'd this one a while back, when we were first released from our COVID prisons. The hint relates to the old cache here - I found this one quickly enough. Need to get back to golf but there's caches to find! Thanks for the cache Robmc.

Out and about cleaning up some caches in Yarraville.

Sadly last time this one was MIA.

I spotted the likely hide that was there last time.

Uhhh nope not there, so I sniffed around here and there.

The hint threw me way off.

Got there in the end though.

TFTC Smile

Decided to get this one around the corner from the golf cache. Robmc thanks for this series of which I got 2 driving home tonight.
Once the compass settled the new fund was soon in disinfectant hands.
