Logs
exploring the less visited side of Tawharanui... TFTC ... log book completely wet, couldn't unroll the log so I took a photo ...
536. On a windy old winters day we climbed up the hill avoiding the sheep The log is really wet but we didnt have a spare to replace it sorry. TFTC
First for the day & a muggle was nearby awaiting the sunrise. Thankfully he wasnt looking as i grabbed the cache. Log is quite wet but managed my name on it. [TFTC]
I decided to come and stay at this wonderful place for a few days so I could knock a few out. Very slowly get through the many here but appreciate all the time and effort that the COs put into their caches. Cheers. It was very windy today so I was able to dry out the log a little.
2125. 12:34 pm. Quick find on a wet then dry then wet day. Log is sadly also wet. Signed K+e. TFT(water)C.
Found with Kan0e.Great view from cash, but the log could use replacing as it is soaked.TFTC,ekitten
It’s uni holidays so I’m geocaching! First time it’s hot enough to be in a tank and shorts!
Log was unsignable due to wetness, so here is photo of me with said wet log!
TFTC!
Easy find. Almost needed to hold onto the electric fence to stop being blown away. TFTC
We've been camping here at this amazing campground and decided to do a little geocaching. Great spot tganks very much!
Have had my eye on this park for a while but always assumed that we would need to stay close by as likely needed 2 days to complete the caches so hadn't got around to it. Mrs Stik-a-Crane came up with a plan to leave home at 5am and continue until complete and we should be able to get to most of them. From start of car park to return to car park GPS read 9:38 for time and 20.46km distance walked. We did continue with some of the others along the roadway afterwards but did not count those in the timings.
Mrs Stik-a-Crane showed off her up hill power walking...phew she is FAST...but she overshot as she was looking for tanks. We didn't see the tanks as we stopped where the cache was...think they were further on but this was far enough for us ha ha
Thanks for the cache.

In the area today after Mrs stik-a-crane planed for a small group to explore the Regional Park that we had previously unsuccessfully tried booking camping time at......Seeing there were many caches in the park there was talk it may require a couple of visits to gather all the caches up for offer, but as my goal for the year is 3 cache finds per day, the thought of even gathering half the available caches was going to help my target.....plus to be able to explore the park a second or third time might not be a bad thing.....
The carer was booked for 24 hours, as we had a 5am start, joined up with the team and off we headed .....arrived at the carpark with only a few cars already parked and headed off to this cache after ticking off the available ad.lab locations....heading along the North coast trail to the end of the peninsula taking a few detours as needed, and as it was overcast and quite windy there was only a handful of muggles around......found with Keylev ......Mrs stik-a-crane powered on up the hill with gusto, whilst myself was getting a little tired now, but I had the hint info and the exact location so she over shot the mark somewhat.....still located it , so all good....the cache was in great shape....
TFTC.

We are staying at the campsite for a few days and I came for a short walk with my niece to find this cache after setting up the tent. She was excited to make the find here, TFTC!
Found it on Easter Sunday. Great spot. Found lying in grass, reinstated as per hint.
Another visit this afternoon to Tawharanui and picked up this cache on our walk around. No problems with this find and no shocks from the fence on this occasion.
It was hot up here today, feels like summer - finally. Quick find, was hanging even though it wasn’t the bottom one.
Last cache of a short visit to Tāwharanui on a beautiful sunny afternoon. (After this we went down to the beach and then I made sure to get the final stage of the Ad Lab I started with the CO over a year ago, since the hut was open today!)
I spent a while looking where the hint said, but then spotted the container lying in the open between the two posts. The log was totally dry and the container was fine, just missing an attachment. I signed and left it in the grass at the base of the fence post, and sent a photo to the CO so he knows where to find it. It's as close as I could get to the hint since I couldn't see where it had been attached.
Tanks for the cache! It brought back nice memories coming back here again today

Get my bearings of Tawharanui from this vantage point, didn't see the tanks, was too busy catching my breath after the uphill slog.
Thank goodness this cache was at the top of this hill because by the time we had walked up here we were too tired to go any further.
GeohoundandI kept a lookout whilst I found the cache.

We're supposed to be camping here this weekend, but with a cyclone coming through, we decided to just come up for the day. Still, big surf, a blustery walk and a cache or two - great day. Thanks!
Last time I went for one like this I didn't see the wire and zap on the forehead. Wearing a hat today.
Camping at the nearby campsite and had a wander along the ridge fenceline. TFTC
Lovely evening walk and what better to find a cache or 2, nice quick find with Bay7.

Thanks tramyard!
Had a busy day walking up and down hills at Tawharanui Regional park getting some more geocaches....
I am a bit out of practice !
Merlot was faster than me up the hill and soon had it just where it was meant to be !

We were on a mission today to get to the end of the peninsula and collect all our unfound caches in the park. We were heading back to the car and made a short detour on our way back to the carpark to collect this one.
We could see the rain approaching from this vantage point, so were glad we spotted the cache quickly. TFTC

Thanks for the cache! I certainly felt unfit heading up the hill for this one, not enough lockdown walks! We could see the rain clouds coming so were pleased this was our last cache of the day
On a mission today as part of Team G0LD to clear the remaining caches in Tawharanui and any others we could in the general area.
Last two for us today were up this track from the car park. A nice quick find where expected. TFTC

Out with Team Gold (Lis crew, 0B80B8) today to clean up the remaining caches in the Tawharanui Regional Park. After a slog up the hill we were eventually at GZ. Soon located before the walk back to the car. TFTC
I'm out for another big caching day in Tawharanui with team G0LD - Geocachers 0B80B8, myself (Lis's crew) and DaffyNZ. We were out this way in May and today we successfully completed the other end of Tawharanui. We have just 2 dnfs from our last trip to go but they were too far out to attempt again today.
After finishing out here early in the afternoon we headed back through Snells beach, Algies Bay and into Warkworth enjoying the views and topping up our numbers as we went.
We had a fun day, did lots of walking, only got rained on once, and I got 50 caches so a pleasing tally. Good to earn my top of the mountain souvenir today too. An easy find here but yes very close to the electric buzz. Tanks for your cache amongst the gorgeous little lambs

Had a really fun day out here. Great spot for geocaching. Broke our daily record for caches. Awesome!!!
So nice to be back up at Tawharanui for the weekend again, I didn't get this one last time I was here, but made a point to head up the hill today to make the find, TFTC
A nice quick find thanks to the hint after a not so quick climb to GZ. But the view made it well worth it.
Thanks tramyard for a great hide in a nice spot.

The rain had stopped this morning so I was off to sign off a few more caches in the Tawharanui Regional Park before I move out tomorrow and before the rain came back.
I didn't notice the water supply.
Cheers for the cache.

Day 5 of camping. Stunning Easter Saturday, crowds are on the beach and fields are empty of muggles. Perfect! Quick pre dinner grab with Geokid9. TFTC!
I made a large loop through the camping area to get this cache. The hint got me right to where the cache was. On the way back, I avoided the busy campground, but ened uop coming out through the stockyards. TFTC.
Vistra and I were out in Tawharanui again. Nice to visit on a Friday when the park isn't quite so busy. We've probably been on most of the trails, but it was nice to explore one we haven't done before making our way back along the south side of the Peninsula via the stunning beach. Once again the weather was on our side. This was a straightforward find after the brief walk up the hill to it.
AliGle and I took another trip out to Tawharanui, this time on a Friday when the area was much quieter than the weekends! Starting at the carpark we zig-zagged our way across the paddocks, picking up caches that we hadn't found on previous visits, before exploring one of the forgotten trails, then making our way back along the beach on the southern side of the Peninsula. Another great day for it! Our first find for the day, a quick find at GZ after the short walk up the hill to it. TFTC!
GAR woke me up early with the new there had been multiple new caches publised at Tawharanui and this thime there was nothing stopping us from coming out for the hunt. We started with FMZ's new caches and came back a different way to avoid repeating the ups and downs of that track. G-2's new cache was inaccessible due to the tides but our walk did bring us close to this cache and we noted it had yet to be logged. Kiwicouple had made it here before us though as we saw when we located the log. Having read their log online I am glad that they managed an FTF here on a birthday! Apologies to them that it was their only one, although a walk around here on such a beautiful morning is worthwhile regardless. Thanks for placing tramyard!
We saw some new Tawharanui caches published late last night, and a few more this morning. It was the birthday of one of us and we had not made any plans, so a trip north to this beautiful spot was an easy decision. We decided to start with this one, and were pleased to find a blank log at GZ (as it turned out, it was our only FTF of the day). Wonderful views from up here, thanks.
