On our day out in Charters Towers and on our way home we stopped to do a cache we have had solved for a while now. After a quick stop we had the cache in our hands, signed and returned to GZ. TFTC.
Outnabout for some solo caching while camping in town overnight whilst taking the roundabout route to QOGM 2023 at Longreach. It’s always a great day for caching.

For anyone making Geo plans, do yourself a favour and visit Australia’s only current Geotour at Ballarat while it lasts: https://www.geocaching.com/play/geotours/ballarat-victoria
And for anyone that can travel to Longreach, Queensland, late September 2023, Google “QOGM” which is the Queensland Outback Geocaching Muster. You’ll have at least 8 or 9 days of pure geocaching fun with around 200 like minded people attending a mix of events and access to over 200 geocaches placed by the QOGM team. It’s not a Mega, it’s better.

Now on my way east, there was still a few more solved mysteries to find. This was next and was a nice quick one at 10:40 and I was soon on my way again.
TNLNSL, although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks BenM70.

Apologies for the late log here (26.12.23) but I've had a busy time since getting back to the UK.Not the sort of puzzle that slows me down for long. Nice.TNLN-TFTC!SP (UK) on an epic trek right around the world.
In the area with Selva Girls today picking up some caches around town and this was one of them. Once at GZ the cache was soon in hand and once the log was signed all was returned as found.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for me and others to enjoy.

A short move today from Townsville to Charters Towers. This was to put the car under load from the recent repairs. Arrived all good, so now we can rest easy and continue our slow trek home. Picking up a few along the way.
Thanks BenM70 for the caches.

Total Cache Finds 12947,
A quick solve over a cup of coffee a couple of days ago, and then we noticed it was right here as we were driving past so we decided to stop and make the find this afternoon.
Thanks BenM70. All good here

Packed up camp and headed just a little further west, along with ilook4geo, for a couple of days to slowly work on the caches in and around Charters Towers. There were no problems in locating each one and both names were stamped on each log to record our visit. Thanks go to BenM70 for placing this cache.
Time to move on again and continue the hunt with goingplaces2. Found all we looked for today, signed each log and replaced as found. TFTC.
Out and about caching in and around Charter Towers today. Caches visited took us too many spots with many varied caches of different sizes/shapes. Thank you for placing the caches in their locations. TFTC
After caching having to be abandoned at about midday yesterday because of the rain, today was going to be a very busy day discovering the many different places around this historical town. Thanks to the COs who have placed caches in the area for us to find.
A nice easy puzzle solved before leaving home with Stephyy and Jodsta83.
At GZ I can’t remember who made the find, but it probably wasn’t me
Thanks for the puzzle and the cache, BenM70

TFTC. Today we were leaving Townsville after a week enjoying the Mega and caching. We planned to head back to Maryborough via Charters Towers and Emerald. We joined up with Richmond Lad and JooJoo57 to cache our way to Charters Towers with a detour to Ravenswood. A successful day with 30 finds and one DNF.
Finally leaving CT for the drive back to Mackay.
This was my last find in town and it was an easy one.
Pulled up at gz and the container stuck out like bogs dollocks.
Signed the log and continued on my way.

Found as part of the Qld Cache mega event weekend in Townsville over Easter 2022. Joined forces with Gunnie69 after flying up from Brisbane to tackle a variety of caches around the Townsville area including three GeoArt series, other puzzles and a few labs! I would like to thank all the cache owners who are making this an enjoyable weekend!
Today we trekked out along the Flinders Highway to the historical town of Charters Towers. Enjoyed some of the sights, old buildings, occasional wildlife and of course lunch at a local pub!
A smiley has been added to the cache!

A short detour slightly out of town and the last cache before a well earned lunch break for Ghostgums and I. No trouble with the find as it showed itself on approach, making log extraction and signature nice and quick.
Cheers BenM70.

Day 7 of our trek to the Townsville Mega and back with fitzy_1965 and two of my geo-kids Death_killer & my_name_jeff_1.
The long awaited day we drive into Townsville! We did a bit of caching around Charters Towers before leaving. Definitely some great caching there and some good Adventure Labs worth doing. A simple drive to Townsville: we are all happy to finally be here. The kids were very glad to have a quick dip in the pool at the Motel before some rest before all things Mega kicking off tomorrow.
All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned.

27,573. Found with minniek during our Grand Townsville Trek up to CacheQLD's Townsville Mega Event over Easter.
Day 7 of our Townsville Trek, and we cached our way around Charters Towers again during the morning, before doing the short journey to Townsville for the main event (literally !). A couple of neat Adventure Labs were completed, as well as their bonus caches (one a real doozy) plus some other must do caches along the way. This one we had pre-solved. Quick find once at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache, then continued along to the next cache on our list.
Thanks BenM70 !!

It’s Mega time once again!! Woo hoo!! Love these epic road trips. This time the plan is Canberra to Narromine to Cunnamulla to Blackall, a detour via Winton and then swinging back to Charters Towers before the main event in Townsville. Will see if the April rains and flooding detour us! Thanks to everyone who placed and maintained all these caches that enabled us to have a wonderful holiday! Thanks for the cache.
Day 11 of the long road trip from Western Australia to Townsville, Queensland.
Today was caching south of Charters Towers then north of the town where a first to find was jagged before returning and caching within Charters Towers. The second Adventure Lab and associated Bonus cache was also completed.
This cache was found without problems. Log signed and the cache returned as it was found.

I do love spending time in Charters Towers. I have family connections and have visited many times over the years. I now know it is also a fabulous place to go caching. We stayed over night and managed to get a few hours of caching in today before heading to Townsville. We certainly found some very entertaining caches but left plenty for next time. Thanks for the fun day.
#13908 - 9:56:00 AM; Day eight of the Townsville Mega adventure with Sol de lune. Made it through to Townsville last night and headed out to Charters Towers to try our hand at the variety of cache types in the area today. Managed 30 finds for the day on the way to and from and around the town in Charters Towers, with one DNF. Cache types we found included Adventure Labs, Letterbox Hybrids, Trads, Multis, Unknown (Puzzle), Wherigos, a virtual and an earthcache. All caches were found in good order unless noted in the log and where required each has been signed L.L10n & Sdl or vice versa. Apologies for the largely generic logs [:o)] TFTC BenM70
Day 8 of the road trip to Townsville to with LuckyL10n and today it was a drive from Townsville out to Charters Towers.
A quieter day than others on the trip, but that was due to the different types. Puzzles, WIG's and Multi's were the order of the day. A couple of trads of course as went right past them....and we couldn't leave them could we?
Left CT around 2.30 and head for Cardwell to help fill in a few counties up towards Carins and the Tablelands. All up, another great day.
Thanks to all the CO's for the caches....they all help to make the trip a good time.

Having a great time making our way to the Townsville Mega with Team Crackers, Micaparamedic and Geoturtle37.
We have made it this far and have a couple of days up our sleeves so decided to set up camp for a couple of days and wash off some of the dust. It was an interesting sensation to not be rumbling along the road with the dust in our face, eyes . . . . .
We have been in and out so often and keep saying that we need to grab this one so we have done so tonight as we think we are leaving tomorrow. Nice quick find.
Thanks for placing the cache for us to find.

Catching up with some late logs.
We are heading up to the Townsville mega with micaparamedic, Geoturtle37 and Papi4506 chasing as many Adventure Labs that we can along the way.
This bought us to Charters Towers where we decided to camp for a couple of days and just do a bit of ;leisurely caching before the mega.
We were staying close by this one so solved it over a beer or two and were happy when we had a set of co-ords that we would be going passed today. These are the types of puzzles that we really enjoy, where you don't have to be an atomic scientist to sort it out, just have a little bit of fun.
Today we headed to gz for the first cache of the day and happily it was found in the second place we looked and our names have been added to the log. A great way to start our caching day.
To save room in the smaller logs we signed as "The Vics"

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 4. Townsville Mega section Day 4. The drive continued from Emerald to Townsville, via Clermont and Charters towers. There is a long stretch of nothing in there, and I had no caches to do till Charters towers. Here I did labs and where-i-gos. I even managed to meet a few fellow traveling cachers before moving on to my lodging in Townsville, time for a swim after setting up !

A nice simple puzzle that we solved in preparation for our northern trip.
Today we found the cache easily. The ants are making sure it doesn’t move by building their nest over the attachment.

After a night near Barcaldine, today I travelled up to Charters Towers, finding a few selected caches of interest, including this one along the way.

We have commenced our journey towards Townsville Mega Event.
We have arrived into Charters Towers today, staying for a few days.
Thought we would start with Lookout Charters Towers but the lookout is closed for 2 days doing some road works, so we will have to finish it later in the week.
The cachel I had worked on before leaving home. The final is outside my home away from home.
Thankyou BenM70 for placing this cache.

An easy puzzle to recognise, not so quick so solve.
Cruising around in the air con instead of riding on a hot morning in CT. The cache was very visible from the back. Not easy to cover when it's a flat surface but we tried. Could be a part of GZ missing.. TFTC BenM70.

Had to laugh, we have far too many devices! The car navigator brought us here, but the hand held and the iPad had us 3 k’s away. Worked out each device was navigating to a different cache. Once we had that sorted it was a straight forward find.
Our first full day in Charters Towers, and we decided to head out reasonably early as it is forecast to be quite warm. We targeted a variety of cache types including Adventure Lab, puzzle, traditional multi and Wherigo. All successful with no DNFs. Even managed to pick up one we think we looked for but could not find last time we were here.
What a lovely old town Charters Towers is. We particularly like seeing the range of old buildings on offer.
Thank you to the local COs for developing and maintaining the caches for us to find. It is much appreciated.

Just 17 finds today. We have almost come to the end of our stay in Charters Towers. Last night we had a great "catch up" with the locals. Today we thought it would be nice to attempt the local power trail and then head out to the weir. We got side tracked on our way back and logged a couple more.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found this cache pretty close to where the GPS said he should be looking.

I worked out the coordinates while camped in Campaspe RV camp the night before heading to Charters Towers. The cache ended up being very close to where we were staying. Bonus!! Great puzzle and great spot for a cache.
Grabbed this one, literally grabbed, on my way back to camp after a quick trip into town before we moved further north
TFTC TNLN SL TOTT was required as way above my head. I guess the tree has been pruned.

Well after a couple of attempts to solve this puzzle I noticed a mistake in the description, so I messaged the CO to confirm that mistake. He will fix it up. Then I had another couple of goes at solving before I noticed MY mistake. It would have been easier if I had printed out the description! Anyway the code checker said I was right! Yippee! The cache was found quickly, but I needed a large tool to be able to grab the log and sign it. Puzzle was a good one, cached all signed and I went to another in town. TFTC.
A dnf for me, but coming home I redid the puzzle and have solved it now. Will attempt at a later date. TFTC
Solved this one when it was first published and finally in the area to sign the log. Thanks to BenM70 for the puzzle and the hide.
Another easy puzzle logged while chatting to CO about lunch options in the Towers.
All worked out to my satisfaction

After this morning’s Celebration event greencordial and I turned our attention to the few remaining caches for me to grab plus some archived caches.
Last one before heading home. We thought we might be out of luck due to some over zealous gardening and teased the CO as such, however, pleasingly we were able to make the find very close by.

Ben, I’m sorry. Burgo78 made me do it. He is a terrible influence, you should know this. Please have a FP in peace. ️
Some people should have their geocaching licence cut up... Re-enabled as they eventually found it. It seems puzzles aren’t for everyone
FTF How many puzzles must one team solve before they clear a whole town? The answer my friend is blowin.... Mr CNQ has the day off and was heading to Townsville anyway, so might as well stop on the way. Translation was a bit breezy but coords accurate. Thanks again BenM70
