As with Percy #36Rock hides can often be hard - but to make it a micro????No luck today after another 1/2 hour searching many obvious rock hides and many not so obvious.Heaps of lyrebird activity around the rocks (maybe disturbed?)Pretty certain near GZAgain - perhaps didn't try hard enough???Wandered back through the bush towrds the parking area - untracked but very pleaseantThis DNF was made up for by the cacaphony of lyrebirds all along the walk (estimated approx 8 in full song)

The Boboyan Road is not in very good shape it was a slow drive down to-day. At least it was good to see lots of work being started on it. A great autumn day for a few hills and a few caches. TFTC.

This was a little detour off the settlers track. Easy going through the unburnt scrub, although funnily both peaks had a halo of cassinia that we had to push through for a short distance. Spotted 2 possum skulls, some lobelia in flower, cassinia in flower of course, but not too much else. I must say that I'm not a fan of micros in the bush without good hints/spoiler photos - too much risk of damaging the environment while people search. But luckily this didn't take too long to locate. **This Cache**
A straight forward walk here from the previous cache taking 26 minutes for a distance of 1.14 kms and an additional 30m ascent and 90m descent. The walk was pretty and the GZ rocks and moss gorgeous. The total distance, one way, from the car was 3.34km with 270m ascent/ 105m descent. GeoPartner found the cache in the first place looked - talk about lucky and thx to a good GZ. Such a clever, tricky hide. Not sure I would have found it. Worth a favourite point on this cache for the two found on this lovely walk, and the history lesson.

We took a longer way by dropping down to the walking trail south of the mountain to enjoy a different experience and we weren’t disappointed. The return walk to the car took 7.5 kms with ascent/descent 355m over 3.02 hours. A wonderful hike in beautiful country. TFTC contesta.

**Our Day** (Total walk - 5 hours, 12.5 kms, 640m ascent/descent)
With rain expected around 2.30pm (BOM Adaminaby) we left South Canberra at 8.00am under cloudy skies heading straight for the southern ACT border. Given the weather forecast we selected 4 mountains/4 caches. Our priority was to bag a few Percys. The Boboyan Road was in excellent condition with no dust to speak of thx to the light rains of the previous day. We found the caches in the following order:

1.Percy #36 - Pheasant
Parked close to Brayshaws Hut we headed straight to the top for an easy walk as the bush is relatively open. With the ground damp and plenty of sticks scattered about it was a little slippery underfoot so our walking was relatively slow and considered.

The location is pretty and we enjoyed the new growth with NO evidence that the 2020 fires came this way. The burs were a plenty, dense right up to our thighs. To reach GZ it took 55 mins over 2.22kms with 240m ascent and 15m descent. Quick and easy find.

2. Percy #40 - Boboyan - this cache.

3. Percy #49 - Potter
Returning from the previous caches we had a quick bite to eat near the car while removing waist high burs from our clothing. From here we crossed the road and up the slope to this cache. It was an easy open walk to the top but for some 40m of dense bushland closer to the road end of the walk. There is evidence of recent fires with the bush now regenerating. Quick and easy find at GZ.

Back at the car we had gained additional burs (Grrrrrr....) so decided to wait until completing the next walk before removing any more. The return walk took us 1 hour 15 min for 2.6kms with 160m ascent/descent. Worth a favourite point for the beautiful walk and history lesson.

4. Shanahan
With time to spare at 2.25pm we drove back up the road for a few kms to the dirt track/car park off the Boboyan Road. A beautiful light drizzle had since began so we walked with purpose to beat any potential downpour. The track to the top is still well defined however grasses are taking hold in parts and it won’t be long before it is hidden from sight. A very easy walk albeit mostly uphill.

Sadly, this location is now unremarkable due to the devastation of the 2020 fires with weeds taking hold and regrowth patchy. As we descended the last 40m to GZ the grasses were head high and YES burs attacked from all angles. We found/signed the log and moved it 20cm up against the burnt trunk overhang in a dry spot. The plastic bag containers are fine for now but will need to be replaced in time. Having come up without backpacks we did not have a replacement container with us on this occasion.

We ascended to the disappearing track nearby covered head to toe with a thick layer of burs. At the car, we spent a good 30 mins, removing most of the burs down to our thighs. The return walk took 41 mins, 2.5kms, 122m ascent/descent at 3.40pm. Back on the bitumen Boboyan Road the rain ️ came down and all the way home. Well timed!

**In Conclusion**
Highly recommend a visit to all four cache locations. Another great day in Namadgi.

Was down this way for a FTF, but had also eyed these two caches off since they came out! So seeing I was down here anyway, I decided to attack these two... It was a beautiful morning for it! I started at the Brayshaws hut, followed the Waterhole hut trail for a while, and then veered off and headed upward! The terrain was very uneven, with lots and lots of pig rooting, and fallen trees, but at least the bush was not too dense! So it was a reasonable pleasant walk to these two caches! This one took me ages to find! Although the coordinates were very good - even 2m in a boulder pile, when looking for a micro can be tough! And this one wasn't hidden quite like the last one! A bit sneaky really! Thanks contesta!

I noticed these Percy's when they were published yesterday. They looked like a good place to go for a walk today. Just over 90 minutes after parking at Brayshaws hut, I was at GZ. The cache took me about 10 minutes to locate. Sneakily hidden. Then back to the car without climbing back to Percy #36. A total of 2.5 hours return trip: 6.5km and 250m climb. A pleasant but warm day to be out in the bush. TFTC.
