A quick 5 day trip to Darwin included finding this cache. This is my first trip to the northern territory and is my final state / territory in Australia to visit. The weather was certainly different to Tasmania. It is great to explore another part of Australia. Thank you Darwin473 for hiding and maintaining this cache. Found on 10 October 2024 at 7:49PM. This cache was my find number 11661Thanks for the cache Last physical cache of trip

Amidst the bustling atmosphere of the airport, we embarked on a journey that promised adventure and discovery. Following the guidance provided, we ventured forth into the embrace of nature, leaving behind the concrete confines for the lush greenery of the Gurambai Walking Trail.Navigating through the pathway, we sought out the metal sign heralding the beginning of our quest. As we followed the winding path, our anticipation grew, knowing that the cache lay concealed beneath the watchful gaze of the rock.At last, our perseverance bore fruit as we uncovered the treasure trove nestled beneath the sheltering embrace of the giant stone. With a flourish of ink and a steady hand, we imprinted our mark upon the logbook, commemorating our triumph in this land of adventure. As we perused the tokens left behind by fellow explorers, we felt a kinship with those who had shared in this journey before us.With gratitude in our hearts and memories etched in our minds, we bid farewell to this enchanted realm, leaving behind a piece of ourselves for the next intrepid soul to discover. Until we meet again, may the spirit of exploration guide your path and the call of the wild echo in your soul.Happy letterboxing!

Did the walk out here today and then hesitantly went off the track and finally found the rock and then the cache. Unfortunately both containers were super wet but the logbook was in decent condition. Did some drying of the containers then moved on.TFTC

Nice find with woolwood9 today. Day 4 of our 9 days in and around Darwin. SL *tm/ww NZ* *Thanks for the reason to visit the area!* Another good slow walk to the letterbox cache - great track could do with more caches hidden in this area.

Spent the day exploring Darwin, visited the oil tunnels, enjoyed the beachside food trucks then parked up at the end of the runway watching planes come into land including some really cool RAAF planes. While near the airport I went for a walk to grab this cache. Quick find with great instructions. Enjoyed the finches which were prolific here. Tftc

Arrived into Darwin today staying at a lovely farm stay.
As we had to do some maintenance on our own cache we headed to the airport region to do a couple of caches around there.
What a great way to tour the country following the geocaching trail.
Thanks to the CO for placing this cache

Darwin to Adelaide Road Trip
Day Two: Darwin and surrounds.
Weather: cooler than I was expecting.

I enjoyed this letterbox. At a recent Maker Magic event back home, it was commented on that letterboxes now are either a trad or a multi or an unknown, with a cheap generic stamp thrown in. This one seems faithful to the original concept, and has the custom stamp too. Well done. Also a nice walk to the cache too. Bit of a geotrail at the end - I would have thought that everything regenerates quickly here in the tropics. First ammo can of this trip.

Thanks to TeamAntiquarian, and to Darwin473 for keeping it going. FP for this one.

We had a little spare time after arriving, so made the most of the remaining daylight with a few finds in the area.
Last one for the day - we're staying at an airport hotel tonight, so convenient! I misread the description, but the hint sent on our way quickly....
A nice find at GZ - despite the container and its inner, the log is damp - was the area submerged at some time? Nice container - this region needs more of these badly....

TFTC!

Travelling with richlink on a trip from Perth to Darwin and return down the centre. Today, we are enjoying the sights of greater Darwin. Thanks for the cache.

First cache of the day and what a great one, a letterbox in the nT is a rare thing and we wanted to find as many as we could and this one was so close the hotel we were leaving (thank god)

This trip was sort of in place of a trip to a Mega that got canceled due to accommodation problems, I was quite happy when Goose said do you fancy to caching break in the Northern Territory as this would be the last State or Territory for me in Australia.

Our plan was to fly into Darwin on the Friday night have a couple days in the area then start heading South stopping overnight whenever we needed to, our next goal was the drive to the geographic centre of Australia at Lambert Centre and then head back to Alice to fly home ten days later.

We both had a great trip finding some important old caches, large ones and the odd clever one too, we found Ammo Cans all over the place which was nice as i think we have found most of the ones at home in Tassie.

Thanks for the cache.

First cache of the morning, we'd just checked out of our hotel near the airport and tried to find a close parking spot. Eventually we found an easy place giving us a longer but safer walk.
Nice container, nice hide. Now to work our way slowly out of Darwin.
Thanks Darwin473

Our Northern Territory journey began in Darwin around 3am after a very delayed flight. We drove as far north as Fresh Water Camp (northeast of Darwin), followed by a loop to Liberated Cox (out to the west) and Litchfield National Park returning to Darwin. We then headed south with overnight stops at Katherine, Daly Waters and Devils Marbles before reaching our southernmost accommodation at Erldunda. From here we did a day trip to Lamberts Gravitational Centre on onward past Finke. Our last couple of days were in Alice Springs with a side trip via Hermannsburg and Glen Helen, all up covering just under 3800km. My thanks to all the COs with hides throughout the territory for helping make our trip so enjoyable.

Find # 8430

On a brief work trip, flew into Darwin, driving down to Katherine for a couple of days before heading back to Darwin and home. Not before I host my first event, in Darwin, a Maker Magic!

I’m visiting family for a week with plenty of time for geocaching. After a pleasant walk in Holmes Jungle Nature Park finding a number of caches, I decided to make this my last one of the day.
Every time I fly into Darwin, I always think I must find this one. So today was the day. A pleasant walk and the cache was found easily with the hint. All good with the cache.
Quite green here compared to other areas I’ve been to today. Tftc

Unfortunately the cache was waterlogged. We poured the water out and also out of the inner container. The logbook was dry. Have put it all back together and replaced in upright position. Hope it will be ok. This is our last day in Darwin so we decided to focus on some caches in the city, Fannie Bay and Lee point.
This one was on my radar as airport caches are notoriously missed by me as im either dying to get away from the place or anxious im going to miss my flight. TFTC

Apologies but actually found it with Low1 and GayeNT back on 7/09/22. I've since not been able to go caching for awhile due to fracturing my back. But getting better. No snakes luckily but midgies were out and about at the time.

Greetings from Brisbane. I really wanted to find a letterbox cache for the M.U.L.E challenge so we parked not far away and thanks to the hint we soon spotted the cache. Thanks for placing this letterbox here for us to enjoy

A nice walk inbetween the monsoonal rains. Doing the 1000hours outdoor challenge this year, equates to 2.7 hours a day, every day - lucky we have geocaching to help us achieve this goal! TFTC

Found with fitzy_1965 on our dash around the country in 6 days.

Our dedicated Darwin caching day saw us target a number of different types for a self-imposed challenge.

We slowed down as the day got hotter but managed to complete what we set out to do then finished with an amazing dinner on the wharf.

All caches were found quickly unless otherwise mentioned.

28,700. Found with minniek during our long weekend adventure to Western Australia and the Northern Territory to finish our 'Around Australia in 2022' Challenge.

By the end of February this year we were lucky enough to have visited in and cached in five of the eight Australian states/territories (ACT/NSW/VIC/SA and TAS). With the Townsville Mega knocking off QLD in April, we decided we may as well do a trip to WA/NT to complete Australia in one year. This is that trip. Today was our one full day caching around Darwin. This was a nice Letterbox Hybrid to grab during our visit. minniek did the honours at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache as found, then headed off to the next one.

Thanks TeamAntiquarian !!

26-Sep-22
On our last day we took a short walk here just before giving the car back and retreating to the airport’s AC. This was about the hottest and sweatiest it got during our visit - mercifully it was a quick find and sign and then a brisk walk back to the car to dry off! Can’t beat an ammo tin. TFTC!

Making my way home from The Alice I was flown to Darwin. Had a 2 hour wait so what else does a cacher do. It was like walking into an oven but pressed on. Finally got to GZ. Thanks for walk TeamAntiquarian

Freddo loves an ammo tin. Nice stroll this evening. No bitey things seen.

Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.

Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke für den Cache. Gracias por el caché. Bedankt voor de cache. Kiitos kätköstä. Zikomo posungira. Terima kasih untuk cache. Hvala cache. Köszönöm a cache. Nga mihi mo te keteroki. Dankie vir die kas.

What a lovely walk. we did this after work and expected to see more muggles than the 2 that we did see. Quick easy find and a great one to show the muggle grandma we had with us. Finally got to use my stamp. Its a shame that your stamp was dry
Note to self
I should invest in an ink pad to take to letterboxes with me because this is the second one this trip.

07-Sep-22
Tftc. The walk not bad either. Loved the find container. Cheers n happy travels.

We keep meaning to get a stamp book so we can record the letterbox ones, we normally just treat them as a traditional, but theres a challenge of getting letterbox caches on days of the year or with all the D and T ratings so there are heaps starting to appear in South Australia.
Nice walking trail and we are glad it was done in the early part of the day.
This being our first trip everything is exciting and new, we are loving Darwin and plan on returning in the wet season to see the other extreme of weather.
Thanks TeamAntiquarian for the nice sized cache.

Last day in Darwin and saying at building site Novotel. Went for a afternoon walk and made the find SL and replaced.

01-Aug-22
Exploring Darwin today we picked up a few caches along the way and this was one of them.

We worked through the cache notes and made a quick find at GZ. Caches and contents were very good as well as the co-ords.

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

01-Aug-22
A lovely walk in the late afternoon. Finally it wasn’t too hot and the long afternoon shadows meant we had plenty of shade as we enjoyed this peaceful walk.
The birds had woken up again, and there was plenty of noise around us from them as we walked.
At GZ, we were rewarded with a large hide.
Thanks TeamAntiquarian for placing this letterbox hybrid! This was a lovely area to explore.

My first letter box this is cool, now to invest in a stamp thank you for the cache

A wonderfully overcast sky lured me to this cache this morning.
The time window until the next rain shower was enough to search for another tradi after a successful log entry. As soon as we returned, the first drops fell!
Thanks for setting and maintaining the cache!

My first cache for 2022. Working on getting my next mountain souvenir. Love this walk hear. TFTC

What a difference a couple of days makes in covid land. I was planning on giving this cache a crack today anyway, but with the lockout in play, my transit from the hotel to the starting point was much quieter... [^]

A little cloud cover and the occasional drop of rain made it quite a pleasant walk and I soon found the point where I needed to divert. Now...I got a little cocky at this part and not really knowing the direction of critical landmarks, assumed I must need to head in 'this direction' to find GZ. BahBow.. Incorrect. Twisted

So, after a while and with no cache in hand, I figured I may not have been a clever as I thought I was, so I corrected my navigation and soon spotted what I was looking for as GZ. As I approached, the container appeared and I was happy to have retrieve it and add my name to the log. Smile

A nice area that I wouldn't hav found without the desire to chase an icon. Thanks for the cache TeamAntiquarian.

Parked at the eastern end before handing the hire car back and flying to Townsville. Area has been burnt but cache container is in good condition. Thanks for the conveniently placed letterbox.

Apologies for not being able to place my stamp here but my letterbox material is safely packed away before my flight home. Last cache in the NT for a bit for me.

Thanks TeamAntiquarian for another Letterbox, to in the NT in a week which is excellent.

Enjoyed the walk along the path, hard to believe that an airport is so close. Got to the point where I needed to enter and couldn’t see a clear path. However, nothing was stopping me grabbing a much loved letterbox. Inwards I go! Scored a spiky plant to the face which drew some blood, but that just made me feel like a real explorers. Hubby waited for me on the path and when I emerged and said ‘found it’ he said that he already knew from the distinct sound of the ammo can! Music to a cachers ears. Thank you for the letterbox and have a favourite point!

16-Mar-21
Have been meaning to explore this walk trail for some time now. This little ecosystem thrives in one of the busiest areas in the heart of Darwin's suburbs, largely untouched. Well worth a visit! The undergrowth has become quite tall & friendly but with careful choice of route, shouldn't pose to much of an issue for an experienced cacher. T4TC!

08-Jan-21
With my other cache nearly washing away, I popped in to check on this one. The greenery is really growing and the airport towers can barely be seen.

Cache is in great condition, and a little bit harder to find at the moment. If you attempt this cache and have no luck, please log DNF's so that I can adjust the Difficulty if needed. At the moment, if you can find the large rock, you should be able to find the cache.

Back in town for a few days and see this pop up as a new cache.
Having two car parking options, I choose one and make my way down the track.
Soon get within 10m and then it’s down to Geosenses and instincts.
Soon found the brand new cache. I can smell the camo paint and the fresh plastic inner container.
It’s like a newborn... haha.
Visited 3 TB.
TFTC and it’s good to see some new ones coming through.
