So lucky to find this one had survived a fire that burnt out the whole area.Funny coincidence- the last people to log (PoolPool) are people we know from back home in Victoria! Thanks for a great range of caches and places.
A big shout out to the COs for their variety of well maintained geocache types, especially all the Whereigos, the most weve seen in a single town in our travels, were loving geocaching our way around the WORLD of Charters Towers Damn, always make sure you complete the AL before attempting the bonus cache, had to make a 2nd visit to GZ with all the required intel this time and the container was opened trouble free, and NO wriggly sticks this time tooOur last Charters Towers cache before making our way to QOGM, TFTC and all your caches on our visit Cachedin NQ, FP awarded !!!
With GZ in sight I decided to check the terrain rating. I earned every one of those stars this morning. Loved the cache. TFTC SL
Apologies for the late log here (26.12.23) but I've had a busy time since getting back to the UK.An entertaining tour, a slightly odd chat by Skype with a girl I went to school with (it was a very different time) and great views from GZ; I was glad of the reward after all my wanderings. A nice walk out too so FP+1 for the experience. Thanks for an entertaining challenge.TNLN-TFTC!SP (UK) on an epic trek right around the world.

Visiting Charters Towers for a couple of days.
A fun AL and a great GZ, the device made it extra fun.
Great views and a mob of wallabies at GZ.
Have a FP from me.

Another one that makes you earn the D/T. I did part of the AL whilst walking up the hill to do the Wherigo. A few points visited in the car and then the walk to GZ.
The lock pout up quite the fight. Almost gave up. Just needed to find the sweet spot with the shackle to get the lock to work.
Thanks for the AL and great final.

Our last day in Charters Towers and it was the bikes turn for sight seeing, after our 4 weeks riding in Townsville, we have come to like caching on our bikes. Plan on doing a few hills but should be ok with the ebikes.
A carefyl climb to the GZ, and then the lock. A little problematic this time around, but just kept dialling in the combo until it released.
Fav point
Thanks Cachedin NQ for the caches.

T4T$ FP awarded. Loved the adventure. Largest small cache ever!! Bit of a hunt on top of the hill, but no trouble with the padlock.
This was a very interesting adventure lab. We enjoyed visiting each of the locations and our final one for the day was at Pfeifffer House. We have had a wonderful day exploring so much of charters towers and really enjoyed our time on the top of tower Hill and heading to the old pyrite site.
Having received the final coordinates as we did the adventure lab, it was time for one final walk for the day to GZ.
We found a way in and then it was up, which is what we were expecting given the name of this Hide!
A favourite point definitely here. That was a great adventure.
Thanks Cachedin NQ

We decided to start caching a little bit earlier than usual - best decision ever as it started showering later in the morning and then it just rained all afternoon.
We completed the tribe series as well as many other interesting caches north of Charters Towers.
Thanks to the CO's for placing these caches.

Out and about caching in and around Charter Towers today. Caches visited took us too many spots with many varied caches of different sizes/shapes. Thank you for placing the caches in their locations. Thoroughly enjoyed doing your Lab Cache prior to finding this Bonus Cache. TFTC. Giving a FP for your Lab Cache
After a wonderful week in Townsville we are heading back to Brisbane. We had a great time. We are all tired, but it’s a good tired. We achieved a lot and made new friends and caught up with old friends.
Peppa was a the wheel of the Habanero Sport and even got to take it off road. He was like a pig in mud. We had done the adlab last week. So with the coords in hand Peppa and patrol14 headed up to the summit and quickly located the cache. Log signed as Tour de Ville TIPP TFTC ??????

Completed our awesome trip to the Townsville MEGA and its now time to head homewards. Team Tour de Ville finished the Lab cache when we were on a day visit to Charter's Towers last week so had to complete the bonus before going home.
We found a rough and winding track that went close to GZ and Patrol14 and Peppa hightailed it up the last bit to the cache. Log signed and cache replaced as found TFTC

After a fabulous time in Townsville for the MEGA we are on our way home via the inland route and having finished the Adventure Lab on our visit to Charters Towers last week, we had to make one stop here to find this bonus cache.
Found a track into this area so with the 4WD, we made our way closer to GZ. 35m away, Peppa and I made our way up to the cache. Teamwork helped open the cache container. Very interesting lock. SL then returned all back to its hide.
Thanks for the history lesson on Charters Towers, thoroughly enjoyed the Ad Lab and bonus.
A fav point from me.

We’ve left Townsville behind… exhausted and strangely satisfied at the same time we’re on our way home to Brisbane…
I’m at the wheel of the Habanero sport and this is the one cache that we’re stopping at… we’d done the leg work last week on our day trip to Charters…
Making a beeline here meant I got to take the Habanero Sport off-road.. oh I could do that more often…
It was up to Patrol14 and I to scale the summit and soon after locate the cache… after following the instructions we soon had the log…
I’m not sure who left the bag of toiletries at GZ, but we decided it was better to leave them for the next finder…

Found as part of the Qld Cache mega event weekend in Townsville over Easter 2022. Joined forces with Gunnie69 after flying up from Brisbane to tackle a variety of caches around the Townsville area including three GeoArt series, other puzzles and a few labs! I would like to thank all the cache owners who are making this an enjoyable weekend!
Today we trekked out along the Flinders Highway to the historical town of Charters Towers. Enjoyed some of the sights, old buildings, occasional wildlife and of course lunch at a local pub!
A smiley has been added to the cache!
Thanks Cachedin NQ for the cache, the hunt and the smiley today! [D*|

Yikes, almost headed back to Townsville without picking this one up. Thankfully Ghostgums was on the ball and we detoured to the closest parking spot for a short walk in. At the location, it took a couple of minutes for the gadgets to settle and for us to spot the container. Once in hand though, accessing the log was not so difficult. [^]
Quite a contrast in the houses near GZ and a nice view of town to finish off with.
Cheers Cachedin NQ.

Along with the Trudge2TVL mob (Fangsoki, 1MinnieMoo, Captain Terror, Crew 153 and myself) we have been buzzing around the general broader Townsville district all week having a blast .. and today we are heading south towards Brisbane (having left the Captain up there). Via Charters Towers first.
Having sorted the labs out a week ago we chose to return here today with a few spare minutes and trundled up to GZ and followed the instructions to open the container. Always a bit nervous with 'how to open' puzzles, but this worked flawlessly for us - good job. Loved the Labs, the lookouts and the final. FP worthy indeed.
Thanks Cachedin NQ for entertaining me at this location.

Trudge to Townsville Day 8: well today begins the home journey. Having spent some time this morning at the mega, our merry little group grabbed one last Townsville cache before beginning our long journey home.
We had already completed the labs earlier on in our adventures, but hadn’t had the time to grab the bonus then. So today we headed over, breaking up our drive a little with a couple of stops here. We found a good spot to park and make our way around, then a little upwards scramble where we soon found…. Some undies and a little bag of toiletries.
A couple of metres further and we found ourselves a nice cache, which opened without any dramas using the provided instructions, and signed that instead.
Signed as T2T for our little group today (Fangsoki, Pprime, Crew153 and me).
Thanks for the cache Cachedin NQ.

MEGA Trip - day 3
Assembled the full MEGATRON crew (bella at waggy, dahumbug, tardis0061, crash2079) for an early CITO at Charters Towers and to find as many types as we could in the day.
After the CITO, we enjoyed a tour around Charters Towers by visiting various caches. Back into town after our detour to Arthur's Cache. Though we could take a short cut on this one as the first waypoint we visited gave us some coordinates. Ventured there only to find that we really need to go for the full experience to get our names into the log. Some more zigzagging around town and we returned to claim our prize.
Interesting and enjoyable AL and bunus

This cache was found today and brings our overall cache find tally to 11103.
I like the design of the bonus, really makes people have to visit all the points. One team I passed on the way in didn’t have all the detail. I was a bit tentative in the long grass with shorts but it wasn’t long till I made the find and had my name in the log book.
Thanks Cachedin NQ for the cache.

Great to be back in town as part of The Megatrons ((The Bug, Crash, Tardis and myself).
Well done Townsville and Charters Towers of qualify and variety to go with the Mega.
This was part of a big day of over 100 finds and multiple types which started as an early run out to Charters Towers.
Another interesting Tour of the Hill
We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC

A 9 day roadtrip to Townsville and back to Brisbane in the Fangsoki Pajero with the usual cast of cachers.
It was day 8 and we were heading home via Charters Towers and Clermont and stopped off to finish off the Bonus cache for this Adventure Lab.
We found the access track and then a short rock scramble and we had the cache in hand.

Thank you very much Cachedin NQ for creating the adventure and this bonus cache. I had completed it some time ago, but saved this since I wanted this to be the mystery for my many cache types on a single day challenge. Very nice final location and cache. Now back to Townsville.
1MinnieMoo, Pprime, Crew 153, and I were heading down to Clermont.
We had done the Adventure Labs a few days ago and we returned to grab this beast.
We found somewhat un-awkward parking and made our way to GZ. We soon had the prize and were able to access the log. A great little cache and Adventure Lab. TFTC Cachedin NQ

Day 7 of our trek to the Townsville Mega and back with fitzy_1965 and two of my geo-kids Death_killer & my_name_jeff_1.
The long awaited day we drive into Townsville! We did a bit of caching around Charters Towers before leaving. Definitely some great caching there and some good Adventure Labs worth doing. A simple drive to Townsville: we are all happy to finally be here. The kids were very glad to have a quick dip in the pool at the Motel before some rest before all things Mega kicking off tomorrow.
This one certainly lived up to its name. We probably would recommend not doing this one in the middle of the day as you are rather exposed at GZ. Quick find by one of the kids but was only later that we read a snake had been at GZ for other finders only earlier this morning! A fav point from me as it was a well thought out AL and final.

27,569. Found with minniek during our Grand Townsville Trek up to CacheQLD's Townsville Mega Event over Easter.
Day 7 of our Townsville Trek, and we cached our way around Charters Towers again during the morning, before doing the short journey to Townsville for the main event (literally !). A couple of neat Adventure Labs were completed, as well as their bonus caches (one a real doozy) plus some other must do caches along the way. This bonus cache was a nice quick find - but only after the walk in and the hints put to good use. Signed the log, replaced the cache, then continued along to the next cache on our list.

Having a great time making our way to the Townsville Mega with Team Crackers, Micaparamedic and Geoturtle37.
We have made it this far and have a couple of days up our sleeves so decided to set up camp for a couple of days and wash off some of the dust. It was an interesting sensation to not be rumbling along the road with the dust in our face, eyes . . . . .
Not sure which day we started this but waited until today to complete so that we could take in the views from the lookouts. GZ was spot on.
Thanks for placing this cache for us to find.

Team Crackers, Micaparamedic, Papi4596 and I are making slow progress towards the Mega in Townsvlle. We are having a fantastic time finding caches with a little bit of touristing in between. As we are staying in town for more than a couple of hours, we took the opportunity to look for some solved puzzles, complete some multis and grab any trads we drove past.
This was started yesterday or maybe earlier but we dropped it when the light got low so that we could see what the ad lab was taking us to. This was found without any problems.
Thanks for the cache.

Like all geocachers, I’m taking the scenic, slow route to Townsville. Along the way we detoured for, amongst many others, this geocache.
We made the rather hot walk to this final after complete if the excellent lab series.
Thanks for placing the cache Cachedin NQ, without hiders the game wouldn’t exist.

Picked up with Echocage1. Coords were spot on just follow the instructions. Great views from up here. Highly recommend for all sized kids and cachers. TFTMC.
We camped in Charters Towers again last night with micaparamedic, Geoturtle37 & Papi4506 and started the day with a nice leisurely morning picking up a few caches up along the way before we left town to head to Townsville for few days to attend the mega.
We enjoyed visiting the different lookouts around Charters Towers although we ran out of time yesterday and had to come back today otherwise we wouldn't have seen any of the views in the dark. Once we were rewarded with a set of co-ords we thought bugger, wish we had done this one earlier in the day but art least there was a breeze blowing. Once at gz the good sized cache was found quickly right where the GPSr said that it should be,
We did what we had to do and we were soon able to access the log book and our name has been added to it. Now to get back down again
To save room in the log we signed as "The Vics"
Many thanks for the cache, a favourite point from us.

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 4. Townsville Mega section Day 4. The drive continued from Emerald to Townsville, via Clermont and Charters towers. There is a long stretch of nothing in there, and I had no caches to do till Charters towers. Here I did labs and where-i-gos. I even managed to meet a few fellow traveling cachers before moving on to my lodging in Townsville, time for a swim after setting up !
This was quite a fun adventure, and the bonus was well worth the scramble up to it. It took me a few goes to get it open, but patience paid off.

Found as I made my way up to the Townsville Mega from Adelaide.
I camped last night near Charters Towers, then finished doing the caches around the town that were of interest to me this morning before heading east.
It had been another warm and humid day, but fortunately the only caches requiring any sort of a walk were completed this morning before it got too unpleasant.
All of the caches, including this one were found without difficulty and were in good condition.
I completed the associated Adventure Lab and then headed off to this one. Nice cache - worth a favourite point I think!
Thanks Cachedin NQ for the the cache.

**This Cache:**
Another top quality and amazing cache!
I spotted this one on the map and hadn't even started the Adventure Lab, so I had to revisit a couple locations in order to complete it and get the coordinates for this! So worth it though!
I managed to drive all the way to GZ in my very low 2WD. Probably not a very smart idea, it was a little bit sketchy in parts and one small error I would of been sad and stuck. However I succeeded and made it in and out unscathed!
The cache itself was a highlight ontop of the Adventure of course! I am very well adversed with these locks, as we had to use them in high school for our lockers. So I know how they work and how to spin them. For a first timer they can be a bit complex.
I had the cache open in no time and I was soon sitting up on the perch with great views signing an amazing cache! This is what caching is all about! Favourite Point!

**Today:**
Day 5 of my road trip from Canberra - Townsville Mega Event!
Today was laid back, I had made excellent time and only needed to get from Pentland - Townsville! I spent almost the entire day in Charters Towers! I initially only had a couple of caches planned, but I fell in love with the caching and town itself and ended up spending all the time I could until I had to be in Townsville to meet someone at the airport!
Wow, caching in Charters Towers was just fantastic, super high quality hides and a very cool town with lots to see. It was a highlight of my trip!

Found at 4:35 PM GAFF1.
Gosh - now this was an unexpected adventure which justified the D/T rating! Loved the location and the twist in the tail. This is the best ending to an AL we have done - and we have done a lot of 'em.
Thanks Cachedin NQ.

We have commenced our journey towards Townsville Mega Event
Charters Towers Day 4 Our final day here.
Now that the lookout area has been reopened we returned to the lookout to complete the AL & the new virtual that was placed since we arrived. Then a couple of WIG, Letterbox & a puzzles to finish off our time here.
Charters Towers is a wonderful place to explore & some amazing heritage buildings.
After completing the AL we made our way t the final location, hadn't seen the spoiler photo so hunted around untill we saw the tell tale sign of a hide. I read the instructions while hubby attended the opening with a little jiggle at the end the cache was open. The AL was really good & worthy of a FP
Thankyou Cachedin NQ for placing this cache.

Staying in Charters Towers for a few days. Having completed the Adventure Lab, I headed to the bonus cache. It was quickly located and the log signed. All this walking on uneven ground is not doing my dodgy knee much good, but all worth it for a smiley. TFTC
Had a great time here today, I was successful on my second attempt.
Thanks Cachedin NQ, this has been great. Another fp from me.

We enjoyed visiting the sites for this adventure lab. We especially enjoyed travelling to the large lookout with the water tanks. On the way down we ticked off 2 ad lab way points, 5 trads, an earth cache and a solved puzzle. Feeling pretty proud of ourselves!
This whole thing (ad lab and bonus) was set up differently from others we have done, and added to the interest of the whole thing. The journey to GZ was almost an adventure in itself. We keep forgetting we’re out in the bush and set off in pursuit of the yellow smilie in shorts and thongs. Usually about half way to our target Mrs Ski moans “remind me to put on shoes and long pants next time we do something like this”. She had no excuse this time as they were in the car! However by following a combination of GPS, car tracks and wallaby tracks we eventually got to GZ.
Once we got there we were also amazed when the cache opened at our first try- that almost NEVER happens to us. It was a good view, but filthy feet and scratched legs detracted a little.
A fav for the great ad lab, the interesting way of presenting the information, the device to open the cache and the views of the town and countryside we saw on our journey. Thanks, it was great

Grabbed while traveling our wonderful country. Mrs Geo especially enjoys adventure labs, so this one was on our must do list whilst here overnight. A fav point from us. Typically we weren’t really prepared for the final GZ (In thongs) TFTC Cachedin NQ.
Just 9 finds today. Continuing our nomadic trek around Australia we've arrived in Charters Towers.
Ian needs to take some night pictures for a [52 Frames Photography Challenge](https://52frames.com/) so we scouted some locations while caching around Tower Hill.
(It's disappointing to see that some great photo locations here will be locked up at night. )
We awarded this cache a favourite point for the ingeniousness (is that even a word)?
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found this cache pretty close to where the GPS said he should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny

On our 2nd day in town.
We started the AL yesterday in a "not recommended" order. So we went to the final coords, found the cache and tried to understand the field puzzle. Had to put all back.
Today we finished the AL, saw another cache in that area, had a coffee and started again the walk to the coords.
Yep, field puzzle added some extra fun.

Susan told the story. Couldn't believe it. At least it wasn't that hot like the first time.
Jiggle and giggle.

Staying in Charters Towers so headed out to grab some caches in the area. I enjoyed the wander around town doing this one and once I had all the information I headed off to GZ. After parking nearby I was rock hopping and all of a sudden a wallaby shot out from near a rock that I landed on. Not sure who got the biggest fright but it added to the adventure.
It wasn't long and I was at GZ and son had the container in hand. BUT....I left the details that I needed back at the car So more rock hopping with the cache in hand and back at the car everything worked and the log was soon in hand and signed and all put back together.
More rick hopping and the container was all replaced as found. Best container so far in CT.
A FP for the adventure

We were wanting to go up Towers Hill and this AL ensured we did. An amazing location with an energetic little ride to get there. And another for this bonus. Noticed the grass had been burnt in the area, so recent there was still smoke in places. We had our fingers crossed the cache too wasn't singed and due to the protective hide, all was good. TFTC Cachedin NQ, an excellent field puzzle.
Bit of an interesting trip to access the log. High grass, wet from this mornings rain made it a challenge. Challenge accepted and log signed. Thanks for this bonus cache.
Found with Geo_Hunter07 after the ferals and i completed the adventure. The other ferals were to 'slack' to come for a short walk in the rocks and grass... apparently 'slack' is the modern teens new favourite way to be...
Thanks for this adventure.
Thanks for this adventure.
17/1/21 13:54 A few nice twists and turns added to this lab cache bonus Cachedin NQ.
After riding out to Lake Dalrymple to pick up a remote traditional to continue on the 365 days of Traditional caches challenge, i thought i’d clean up the two remaining lab cache stops up the hill and stop by this final. The Journal entries indicated a different kind of ending but i’d left it as i had rounded my lab finds to the nearest 10 but 42 is the meaning of life, apparently. In any case, the muscles still needed stretching and freeing up from the long ride hunched over yesterday so the walk up the hill was , um, a walk up the hill. T’was made more treacherous by all this long green grass that the wet has provided the area as negotiating the rocks in amongst it was challenging on the way down. Certainly makes for a pleasant view from the top of Towers Hill and the Pyrite Chimney and the GZ. Thanks for the cache and you can keep your 100% FP record going with one from me.
I grabbed both TB’s out of sheer greed.

After this morning’s Celebration event greencordial and I turned our attention to the few remaining caches for me to grab plus some archived caches.
This was a priority. Always good to go after a rare type.
We zigged and zagged our way around the Towers following the adventure labs nonexistent roads. This made for a fun journey with lots of laughter.
Great views at multiple sights and a nice field puzzle at the final.
Thanks Cachedin NQ. Have a favourite point.

Adventure Labs... the unexpected gifts that keep on giving.
Thanks for giving us a tour of some sights of CT that I was yet to see. I believe it was due to this adventure that I became so used to driving off road, that I had to listen to Burgo’s directions... for a change. I was surprised when I got to drive on bitumen.
Cool container! You always find some gems CNQ.

After leaving a demo last night around 9:30 I started the adventure lab which was very informative.
After revealing the GZ coords I decided to resume today at lunch time it’ll still be a *FTF*. I headed off to the final two AL spots in my map and armed with all the info needed I headed to GZ. A leisurely stroll without sunscreen, hat or appropriate foot ware and I soon had the prize in sights. Some technical hurdles to jump and hey presto I signed the top spot.
Thanks for another, unique AL Cachedin NQ
Fav point from me and the country side has a lovely tinge of green
