Knowing there was no shade at the beach, we stopped on the track near the cache for lunch. Found the log sheet and the tool mentioned but struggled to scribble my name on the log that was saturated, TFTC

In the area today as we thought these caches looked a little lonely, and we had a carer for junior cacher .....it was time we got into some sunshine as we had been renovating a bedroom, taking up any spare hours....Left home at 8am (the wrong time as schools had just gone back after the anniversary weekend, and we hit traffic extending the trip to the park by half an hour.Arriving at GZ a quick chat with the local farmer for hints on the best route to take, and into cache finding.... then headed out on the adventure. The GZ has totally changed with the trees in question have been felled, and now turned into mountains of mulch. We found the whole area had been fenced off and the grass had been sprayed..... so preserve the cache for the CO (whom I've messaged) I placed another log sheet in a plastic bag under a tool used in felling the trees at these co-ordinates S36 28.982 E174 16.123.At the base of another much smaller tree overlooking the site.I will delete this found it log if the CO so wishes.TFTC.Razz

This one stumped me.

No joy here unfortunately, the only dnf of the day.
Stumps are there and masses of mulch from the now departed trees but no sign of the cache unfortunately

Two of us spent considerable time on this. No luck at all. Trees are all mulched and gone and perhaps cache has been buried?

Unfortunately, I had to call it quits on this one, I’m sure it is here but with heavy rain it was time to move on! I would have loved to be around when these fell, it would have been the most spectacular noise

found it, TFTC! would love to have known what happened here

Quick find once I had the right tree.

23-Jul-22
Found it eventually.
With so many stumps to choose from it took me quite a while to find it.
While I was looking I was thinking

If a tree falls in a forest and there's no one there to hear it.
Dose it make a sound?

Kids enjoyed a climb on the trees ️

Out enjoying a mid-winter walk in Te Rau Puriri Regional Park. We arrived late morning and spent most of the rest of the day wandering around the tracks and finding plenty of caches. It was a bit wet underfoot but the weather was mild and we enjoyed the views as we walked an anti-clockwise circuit.
Big Trees Avenue is more Big Tree Cemetery now, with the number of trees and large branches that have fallen here. Definitely not easy to walk around - or to decide which of the fallen trees to look in. Spent quite a while searching here, and In the end we looked at all the 'stumps' before finally spotting the container somewhere we had not expected. TFTC

Went far too far off piste in this one. After several legovers, finally arrived at GZ. Nice easy find. TFTC Big Grin

Out with team Gold today (0B80B8 and LisCrew) collecting a few caches in the area. This was a little scary being under these huge tree with the wind blasting past. Quick find before high tailing it out of there. TFTFC

Today I was on a mission as part of Team G0LD to Te Rau Puriri Regional Park on South Kaipara Head, to hopefully clear all the caches there and as many more as possible on the peninsula.

The Garmin watch showed a distance of 7.50 kms to complete the park in just under 3 hours with 250 metres elevation gain, so a nice exercise jaunt for the day, even if if was a tad warm and humid ahead of the approaching storm.

Number sixteen on our walk today and a quick find in the hint location. Given the location here, we were a little nervous lingering too long with the strong wind blowing now. We didn't want to be caught up in any more casualties .. TFTC

Team G0LD (Geocachers: 0B80B8, Lis's crew and DaffyNZ) were on a mission today. The primary target was the cache rich Te Rau Puriri Regional Park at South Head. We were aiming to get our final mountain souvenir all done and dusted as well as filling an entire area on our maps with yellow smiles.

We came down from above but fortunately the ditch was empty otherwise we'd have had wet feet. A quick sign before death row took another toll. I wonder if the cyclone Dovi took any more down with it.

Overall it was a very hot day with temps 28-30°C. We only copped a few brief spats of rain and I found 49 caches. My souvenir well and truly achieved. Certainly a pretty lot of smiles too. Thanks for this hide Smile

Our primary reason for the trip here today was to attempt all the caches in the park. Mrs NZT stayed home to look after Geo Dog (poor little bugga had had a rough night) and Keylev and myself set off to find all these.

Keylev went one way to GZ and I went the other. We each searched one of 2 possibilities coming up with nothing. Keylevs possibility looked more probably than mine so I researched hers and BINGO there it was. I have already written to GC HQ requesting Keylevs Geo Licence be revoked Big Grin

NZ Travellers and I had a plan to cache and walk today. Unfortunately their geo-dog was unwell so Mrs NZT had to stay home to care for him so it ended up being just Mr NZT and myself. Had a great day out, ended on a nice round number of 40 (50 would have been better but I had to collect our minis from their camp).

This was one of the longer searches for today...I missed it on the first pass and went all over the place before Mr NZT looked at where I had searched and what I clearly had missed - doh!!

Thanks for the cache.

I am out and about this afternoon, taking advantage of the excellent weather, to take a hike around Te Rau Puriri Regional Park. After finding "green bison dangling with thorns" I continued along the trail towards this GZ. I left the track early in an attempt to shortcut my way to GZ. This involved crossing a creek, but it was easy to cross at this time of year. I managed to spot the hide on approach to GZ. Return with a bit of natural camo. Cheers for the cache placement!

Another cache found in Te Rau Puriri Regional Park today! I visited here with tramyard, and we walked the loop clockwise finding all of the caches in the park along the way (and a few on the way there and back).

This was a really awesome spot and the cache wasn't hard to locate, but it looks like the location has changed a lot since the cache was first placed here. Certainly some really big trees. TFTC!

Walk with friend. Fun find, took a wee bit of looking which was cool.

What wonderful trees - I took a moment to enjoy the giants and then off on our way. T4tc

Down the hill and soon saw all the big trees that were in this area of the park. Made a quick find here.

We had a lot of fun exploring this regional park on a stunning Winters day. Thanks to all the CO’s for placing and maintaining these caches.
We found this cache out in the open, so we rehid it at the base of the tree

I had the day off work today, so I decided to get out for a walk in Te Rau Puriri Regional Park... an area that I've never visited before! I was greeted with nice views as soon as I parked the car and, being a weekday, I had the park to myself for the afternoon. It was a lovely walk down to the harbour and back, I found all of the current caches here without any difficulty and really enjoyed my visit! Thanks for setting up all these caches!

This is the third of three caches I needed to get to complete the park, so that means I'm done. I'm sure I checked this spot the last time I was here, but for some reason, it was an easy find today. Thank you to all the PFs for not hiding it in a crazy spot. TFTC.

As we came down the hill he spotted the avenue of big trees, who could miss trees that size.
Daddypig123 and Daddypig's Assistant took the geohound further along the trail to have a sit in the shade, whilst GeohoundandI and I doubled back to the trees. We walked straight to the cache, signed it and put it back with its bit of camo back on top.

Must have come form the wrong angle as went around in a bit of a circle before I zeroed in on this, but easy in the end, cheers

While Mr Pazza chatted with the land manager I gingerly popped down the dale to find this. Gingerly, because of the many wasps in the area.

Huge trees down this end of the park, a nice easy find here, retained better with some wood too without compromising the hide. There were a couple of other people around as I headed seawards after too.

Time to hit the trail and looking forward to the caches from the placers here; Tramouflage galore and Pax of bisons roaming the plains.
Another weekend day and I have a plan to go and find some caches out at Te Rau Puriri Regional Park up the top of South Head (North of South Head then!). I originally put down a couple of new ones in this empty (of caches, at the time) park and Tramyard and Pax duly obliged to fill in some of the walking tracks with caches, which also had good views and interesting things to see. I was fairly early off from home and arrived at the trail start at 0900, arrived back at 1145-ish so under 3 hours for the loop, including finds. I'm pretty sure there's room for some more up there as the Red route has scope, as does the pale blue one. The weather was a little blustery and a bit cooler than recent but still a good day 5o be out there doing it.

Enjoying our day out here many thanks!
This was a little tricky till one of our team looked at the right angle and saw something yellow!

I was out on a ladies caching day with Supernanny and Nette1234 on a lovely autumn day. We followed our compass so took the harder way and thankfully the stream was dry so was easy to cross. I spied this one from afar as the yellow lid stood out so we rehid it so it wasn't quite so obvious.

A lovely day out with Supernannny and Merlot.
Took the hard way to reach this one.

Out and about enjoying Puriri with the mexikiwi and evilno9. Glad we did so, as the next day we went into level 3 lockdown. We enjoyed the round collecting all geocaches on the way, with a short lunch break on the beach. No issues with any find. TFTC

I stopped here on the way out, but my GPSr gave me too many possibilities to make the find. After my morning break, I headed off.
Once I got cell coverage at the top of a pink hill, I exchanged texts with the CO and got some help on the one. I circled back (without the aid of a trail) and tried again, but still came up empty handed.

A beautiful spot with amazing trees and a perfect place for a cache as had it not been here we would have walked right past without realising it was here.
The hiding place was soon located and we continued our walk to the beach.
TFTC.

Another diversion from the path but a lovely place to come and rehydrate and enjoy the peace and really appreciate that we are able to get out while many people are unable to in many countries. TFTC

Tramyard asked me if I wanted to come along to place some caches in this Regional Park which what quite empty.... I had nothing to do, so grabbed my cache containers, logs and stuff and was ready to place some more caches in NZ.
Maybe we get some more people here to this nice park.

A bit off of the beaten track, but nice location!
