In the area today as we thought these caches looked a little lonely, and we had a carer for junior cacher .....it was time we got into some sunshine as we had been renovation a bedroom, taking up any spare hours....Left home at 8am (the wrong time as schools had just gone back after the anniversary weekend, and we hit traffic extending the trip to the park by half an hour.Arriving at GZ a quick chat with the local farmer for hints on the best route to take, and into cache finding....The cache is in good health, and dry.TFTC.Razz

Out today on a fitness walk for a much longer walk coming up soon. Great place to geocache. Had to widen out search but found it after a short search. Thanks tramyard/Pax.

Today was the day I decided I HAD to finish off the challenge caches put out by tramyard. One involves finding caches with the horse attribute and the other involves the attribute no park and grab. I left home at 11:15am from Te Atatu Sth and got home about 9pm, but managed to finish of both challenges all at once. It meant a trip all the way up this south head peninsula, then over to Wenderholm, then down to Albany then back down to the airport to sign off on the challenges. Bought myself a bottle of vodka along the way and had a well deserved drink when I arrived home!

Coming back down the peninsula, I came here, I wanted at least one cache that had a horse attribute attached to it, but this cache had neither that or the no park and grab, which is OK, I managed to park close by regardless and claim this one just because it was there.

I took fotos from here for later perusal, just in case I want to come back with my e-bike and do the caches along this reserve.

Looking forward to a days worth of finds at Te Rau Puriri park. Easy find

Out enjoying a mid-winter walk in Te Rau Puriri Regional Park. We arrived late morning and spent most of the rest of the day wandering around the tracks and finding plenty of caches. It was a bit wet underfoot but the weather was mild and we enjoyed the views as we walked an anti-clockwise circuit.
Back up to the road to make our first find for the day near the entrance to the park. Thanks.

Nice to have a quick find at the start.
Really helps get my conference up for the rest.
Everything is safe and dry.

Out with team Gold today (0B80B8 and LisCrew) collecting a few caches in the area. First cache before heading into the Regional Park. TFTC

12-Feb-22
Today I was on a mission as part of Team G0LD to Te Rau Puriri Regional Park on South Kaipara Head, to hopefully clear all the caches there and as many more as possible on the peninsula.

The Garmin watch showed a distance of 7.50 kms to complete the park in just under 3 hours with 250 metres elevation gain, so a nice exercise jaunt for the day, even if if was a tad warm and humid ahead of the approaching storm.

First one at the start of our walk today and a nice quick find where expected. TFTC

Team G0LD (Geocachers: 0B80B8, Lis's crew and DaffyNZ) were on a mission today. The primary target was the cache rich Te Rau Puriri Regional Park at South Head. We were aiming to get our final mountain souvenir all done and dusted as well as filling an entire area on our maps with yellow smiles.

We couldn't resist a few quick grabs on the roadside on the way to and from the park to add to the tally. This cache was our first one in the park. A quick find by DaffyNZ before heading off on our walk.

Overall it was a very hot day with temps 28-30°C. We only copped a few brief spats of rain and I found 49 caches. My souvenir well and truly achieved. Certainly a pretty lot of smiles too. Thanks for this hide Smile

Found it, yay. Quite shiny.

Our primary reason for the trip here today was to attempt all the caches in the park. Mrs NZT stayed home to look after Geo Dog (poor little bugga had had a rough night) and Keylev and myself set off to find all these.

Good first start. Quick easy find.

NZ Travellers and I had a plan to cache and walk today. Unfortunately their geo-dog was unwell so Mrs NZT had to stay home to care for him so it ended up being just Mr NZT and myself. Had a great day out, ended on a nice round number of 40 (50 would have been better but I had to collect our minis from their camp).

This was the first one in the park for us and was a nice quick find.

Thanks for the cache.

Out and about for a hike around Te Rau Puriri Reginal Park this afternoon. Nice weather for it. I parked up in the car park and decided to find this one first, rather than saving it for the end. My GPSr had me further along the barrier than actually required. But checking most hint items twice meant I soon came up with the goods. I think that is one down, 27 to go. Right, time to get this trek underway. Cheers for the cache placement!

Another cache found in Te Rau Puriri Regional Park today! I visited here with tramyard, and we walked the loop clockwise finding all of the caches in the park along the way (and a few on the way there and back).

The last one in the park, I found this on the way out. A few muggles around so I had to be careful. It was a quick find. Thank you for the cache!

With the announcement that Level 3 could include exercise away from our house (and naturally the area around our house is either cleaned out or carpeted in my own caches) we decided a fun activity would be geocaching and this was confirmed when the reviewers said that caching was A-OK. We had a scan about for a fun place to drive (even driving seemed a fun idea) and chose here and glad we did.

This was our first cache of the day after parking in the carpark - quite a few cars so lots of people had had the same idea - but this park is huge and we didn't need to get close to anyone all day - no worries with distancing here!

Quick and easy find here - looked in the right spot first time. Thanks for the cache - all good here.

My first Te Rau Pūriri looking forward the rest!!

11-Jul-21
Our last find for today. A few muggles around when we arrived at the park so decided to leave for when we returned. It is pouring with rain now and nobody here except for us. Found this cache as we expected it to be hidden.

After a cold start to the day, the sun came out for a stunning Winters day. Only a couple of cars in the car park when we pulled up, so no trouble with parking. A quick detour to find this cache, which blended in very well with its surrounds, before exploring the park. TFTC

Found a pen from one of my cadets so was able to write on this one! Super quick and easy (and a great day to show my cadets what geocaching is all about)

I had the day off work today, so I decided to get out for a walk in Te Rau Puriri Regional Park... an area that I've never visited before! I was greeted with nice views as soon as I parked the car and, being a weekday, I had the park to myself for the afternoon. It was a lovely walk down to the harbour and back, I found all of the current caches here without any difficulty and really enjoyed my visit! Thanks for setting up all these caches!

25-Apr-21
Our first find for the day, and a quick sprint across the carpark to see who could find it first. I was winning until Daddypig123 realised it wasn't a premium cache and he could also find it. It didn't matter though, because I still found it first. The geohound left his mark here, too!
Logged as HP family.

I saved this one until last since I had actually parked my motorhome right beside it up on the road, it was literally just one step away from my side door, TFTC

28-Mar-21
Nice and easy to start off, the way I like it.

Time to hit the trail and looking forward to the caches from the placers here; Tramouflage galore and Pax of bisons roaming the plains.
Another weekend day and I have a plan to go and find some caches out at Te Rau Puriri Regional Park up the top of South Head (North of South Head then!). I originally put down a couple of new ones in this empty (of caches, at the time) park and Tramyard and Pax duly obliged to fill in some of the walking tracks with caches, which also had good views and interesting things to see. I was fairly early off from home and arrived at the trail start at 0900, arrived back at 1145-ish so under 3 hours for the loop, including finds. I'm pretty sure there's room for some more up there as the Red route has scope, as does the pale blue one. The weather was a little blustery and a bit cooler than recent but still a good day 5o be out there doing it.

21-Mar-21
Looking forward to a great day in the park.

27-Feb-21
Out and about enjoying Puriri with the mexikiwi and evilno9. Glad we did so, as the next day we went into level 3 lockdown. We enjoyed the round collecting all geocaches on the way, with a short lunch break on the beach. No issues with any find. TFTC

31-Jan-21
I've been dying to check out the South Head of the Kaipara peninsula for a while now so Mr Pazza, Merlot and I picked today to also check out this reserve and walk. We knew we wouldn't have time to do it on this day but now we know we can bring dogs on leads if between December and June. Tftc

31-Jan-21
Pazza asked me if I wanted to go on a road trip with them so I jumped at the chance. It's a scorching hot day and with very little shade on offer we decided to come back in winter to do the caches in this lovely park and just do the couple that are close to the car park. Nice quick find here thanks to the hint

22-Jan-21
Brought the kids up - so pleased to see a walkable geocache trail to our local home town of Helensville!

16-Jan-21
I had some really nice weather today to hike the big loop around the park. I've never been to this regional park before and enjoyed it tremendously today.

This was the first one I found as I prepared for the day. OK, I'm all warmed up, so off to the trek. TFTC.

13-Jan-21
Easy find....out visiting a friend for the day at South Head.

04-Jan-21
We weren't aware of this park until this and other caches started being released so drove out to take a look today.
We parked in the carpark and found this cache before beginning our walk.
Thanks for the cache and for bringing us here.

01-Jan-21
Decided to go away for NYE and after borrowing my brother's campervan we headed up South Head. So nice and quiet up here and so after a peaceful night we were ready for a great morning of walking. This was the first cache of the day and a great one to start with. Thanks

Tramyard asked me if I wanted to come along to place some caches in this Regional Park which what quite empty.... I had nothing to do, so grabbed my cache containers, logs and stuff and was ready to place some more caches in NZ.
Maybe we get some more people here to this nice park.
