Nice view from up here, is that the highest point of the park? TFTC

Our tramping group decided to take a break here and enjoy the view after the steep climb. This gave me time to quickly find the cache. Tftc

In the area today as we thought these caches looked a little lonely, and we had a carer for junior cacher .....it was time we got into some sunshine as we had been renovating a bedroom, taking up any spare hours....Left home at 8am (the wrong time as schools had just gone back after the anniversary weekend, and we hit traffic extending the trip to the park by half an hour.Arriving at GZ a quick chat with the local farmer for hints on the best route to take, and into cache finding.... then headed out on the adventure. The cache is in good health, luckily for water proof paper....TFTC.Razz

Bit of a slog to get here, and a little bit windy once you do! Great views. Beautiful peacock feather too. Thanks for the cache.

A solo excursion for Mr Coblet. On our last visit here in January 2021 we found most of the caches in the park but decided to give this one a miss as it was a very hot day and we were quite exhausted by the time we considered looking for it, so a hill climb wasn't very appealing. Today was much cooler and I headed out at dawn for a morning walk to find this and the others we didn't find last time.I headed up the orange trail and it was a very pleasant walk to GZ with a great view as a reward when I got there.I located the cache quickly, or at least I did once I looked at the correct hint item. The log paper was a bit damp and very fragile so I carefully signed in a place where it felt the strongest. This was a nice place to stop, rest, have a drink and enjoy the view before heading down the hill and continuing my walk. Thanks Pax for placing this cache and giving me the motivation to walk up here.

Out enjoying a mid-winter walk in Te Rau Puriri Regional Park. We arrived late morning and spent most of the rest of the day wandering around the tracks and finding plenty of caches. It was a bit wet underfoot but the weather was mild and we enjoyed the views as we walked an anti-clockwise circuit.
While making the ascent to the windy gate we could hear a loud rattling sound coming from somewhere. Once at the gate we could see a farm worker spending her Sunday afternoon rounding up and moving some sheep. Made sure she was not looking our way before going through the gate to make the cache find. Thanks.
Pleased to be going downhill rather than up from here.

So still this evening.
All the fantails and Wood pigeons are out and the harbor smooth.
Thanks _Pex_.

Out with team Gold today (0B80B8 and LisCrew) collecting a few caches in the area. The cache name was correct today. Great views but quite windy. TFTC

Today I was on a mission as part of Team G0LD to Te Rau Puriri Regional Park on South Kaipara Head, to hopefully clear all the caches there and as many more as possible on the peninsula.

The Garmin watch showed a distance of 7.50 kms to complete the park in just under 3 hours with 250 metres elevation gain, so a nice exercise jaunt for the day, even if if was a tad warm and humid ahead of the approaching storm.

Twelfth one on our walk today and took a minute before being located in hint location. Certainly quite windy up here today. TFTC

Team G0LD (Geocachers: 0B80B8, Lis's crew and DaffyNZ) were on a mission today. The primary target was the cache rich Te Rau Puriri Regional Park at South Head. We were aiming to get our final mountain souvenir all done and dusted as well as filling an entire area on our maps with yellow smiles.

I certainly appreciated a bit of a breeze despite it being a warm wind. A bit longer to locate this hide but the hint was right. Just very low and lots of grass. Nice views of the harbour in the distance.

Overall it was a very hot day with temps 28-30°C. We only copped a few brief spats of rain and I found 49 caches. My souvenir well and truly achieved. Certainly a pretty lot of smiles too. Thanks for this hide Smile

Our primary reason for the trip here today was to attempt all the caches in the park. Mrs NZT stayed home to look after Geo Dog (poor little bugga had had a rough night) and Keylev and myself set off to find all these.

Bit of a climb to here but the view was worth it. Meet an Asian family that had started at the same time as we had eft but the had gone the other way around from us. They certainly had covered some ground if they had gone all the way to the beach and back to here in that time!

NZ Travellers and I had a plan to cache and walk today. Unfortunately their geo-dog was unwell so Mrs NZT had to stay home to care for him so it ended up being just Mr NZT and myself. Had a great day out, ended on a nice round number of 40 (50 would have been better but I had to collect our minis from their camp).

There was no wind at all today so we wondered what the cache name was all about but as we got closer the gate piece became clear and we soon had the cache in hand.

Thanks for the cache.

I am out and about this afternoon, taking advantage of the excellent weather, to take a hike around Te Rau Puriri Regional Park. After finding "crooked..." I continued along the orange trail to this GZ. As I climbed up the track there was no sign of a gate nor any wind of note. However, once I was very nearly at GZ the gate appeared and so did the wind, right on que. I tried one potential spot with out joy and then a second without luck. I took a moment to check out and appreciate the view across the valley. When I looked back down there was the hide. Cheers for the cache placement!

Find number 10 in Te Rau Puriri Regional Park today! I visited here with tramyard, and we walked the loop clockwise finding all of the caches in the park along the way (and a few on the way there and back).

Another case of me looking in the wrong place completely, so this was not a quick find. Disturbed a snail before finding the cache, which was all in good condition. TFTC!

We had a lot of fun exploring this regional park on a stunning Winters day. Thanks to all the CO’s for placing and maintaining these caches.
Great views from up here. Not a breath of wind today at Windy Gate.

I had the day off work today, so I decided to get out for a walk in Te Rau Puriri Regional Park... an area that I've never visited before! I was greeted with nice views as soon as I parked the car and, being a weekday, I had the park to myself for the afternoon. It was a lovely walk down to the harbour and back, I found all of the current caches here without any difficulty and really enjoyed my visit! Thanks for setting up all these caches!

Only saw two other groups in the entire afternoon I was wandering around this nice park today, easy find here, cheers

We made our first sighting of other people going anticlockwise across the ridge from here.

It really was a blustery day so was truly a windy gate here with a winding route to arrive at GZ. I hopped over for a Q E F here.

Time to hit the trail and looking forward to the caches from the placers here; Tramouflage galore and Pax of bisons roaming the plains.
Another weekend day and I have a plan to go and find some caches out at Te Rau Puriri Regional Park up the top of South Head (North of South Head then!). I originally put down a couple of new ones in this empty (of caches, at the time) park and Tramyard and Pax duly obliged to fill in some of the walking tracks with caches, which also had good views and interesting things to see. I was fairly early off from home and arrived at the trail start at 0900, arrived back at 1145-ish so under 3 hours for the loop, including finds. I'm pretty sure there's room for some more up there as the Red route has scope, as does the pale blue one. The weather was a little blustery and a bit cooler than recent but still a good day 5o be out there doing it.

Out and about enjoying Puriri with the mexikiwi and evilno9. Glad we did so, as the next day we went into level 3 lockdown. We enjoyed the round collecting all geocaches on the way, with a short lunch break on the beach. No issues with any find. TFTC

16-Jan-21
I started looking too low, but then the cache jumped into my hand for the find. TFTC.

01-Jan-21
The views from up here are outstanding and although there was no breeze today it was refreshing to know that there was a lot of downhill from here as we headed down towards the beach. TFTC
