Logs
The People's Revolution of the Glorious Twenty-Fifth of May ended the increasingly tough reign of Lord Winder.
A few streets around Treacle Mine Road were barricaded at first. Soon more people started barricading streets, barricades were moved forward and merged together, covering at least a quarter of the city - including the food industry. The resulting area was called The People's Republic of Treacle Mine Road.
Each year, on the 25th of May, a group of survivors of the uprising gathers at Small Gods' Cemetery to honor the casualties with lilacs and, affectionately, one hard-boiled egg (from Madam Roberta Meserole).
It’s very wet in here so searching while keeping our feet dry was a challenge. I eventually found both cache and hide in a puddle. We left them a bit higher and drier. The lid has a hole in it somehow. Thanks for the cache
I’ve found my target cache for the day, so everything else is just cream… I parked as close as I could and followed the geotrail in… Following Geepers like the good lemming I am I overshot the cache, but after looking at the available options soon had the container in hand…
I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of these damaged before…
Tftc… the loss of Wingaap from our game is huge…

I parked nearby and made the short walk to GZ for a quick find.

This was the most difficult of the defender series so far to find. Nice little hide! And it still has it's cache protector/defender. Thanks for the cache wingaap. Great size and lovely and dry.
Not for us today. Mozzies, grass cuts and boggy conditions made this no fun for kids and dog. Maybe in drier conditions.
I parked around the back and thought I might attempt to bushbash my way through but I’m glad I didn’t because it was way too thick and full of mozzies! I scaled along the edge of the fence and went in the front way. Didn’t get to stay too long as I was getting eaten alive. TFTC
We drove to nearby the GZ and took a short walk to discover the cache. Lots of mozzies around this afternoon. TFTC
Out and about caching around Bribie Island. Doing as many caches, as I can, while here. While some caches were easy to find there were others that took a little longer to find. Had fun. TFTC
After attending the Christmas in July event, I met up with Triple Turmoil, NayFee and chamad to collect some Bribie caches.
This cache was quickly found at gz, all is well with it.
Thanks wingaap for bringing us here.

Sometimes hints are useless. Sometimes hints are cryptic and even after locating the cache they make no sense. Sometimes hints tell you exactly what you need to see if you just pay enough attention.
Another lovely creation, so a favourite point for it.

After attending the nearby Christmas in July Event, our morning group (nayfee, triple turmoil and myself) meet up with Willis007 and we decided to spend the afternoon collecting some of the local caches, cleaning up Bribie, again and possibly finishing off ones from this morning’s run.
We headed over to do this little series of caches. All were in good condition and the coordinates were spot on. They were nice little hides and the hints were a good help but not required. Thank you for placing these here and with the log signed on all we were then on to collect a few other caches in the area.

An event on Bribie Island today so an excuse for 4 of us to get together and make a day of it. Lots of fun and some caches ticked off with Willis007, Chamad and Nayfee.
After collecting the rest of the Little Bird GeoArt and attending the Christmas in July event, Snickersallan and I went to find more caches in the area, sometimes bumping with other event attendees along the way. Almost no muggles on this cold and windy day.
Thanks for the cache and taking us here wingaap. We went all over the place when there was no need to. Coords and hint are spot on.

Today, I explored Bribie Island centred around the *Christmas in July* lunch event. With a late morning home departure, I first visited Woorim and completed the *Sculpted Woorim* Adventure Lab. I then made my way to Bellara to join the event's Christmas festivities, before visiting a few geocaches around Bellara and Banksia Beach. I then had a 6 km walk along Red Beach, before joining a small group around Sandstone Beach with some tree fishing as the day's light faded.
A very appropriate location for a *Defender* series cache given the nearby communications. I followed the geotrail into the bushland, and this cache initially had me stumped as I was walking around checking the logical hiding spots and not revealing anything. Upon backtracking my steps, I soon spotted the sneaky (yet not too sneaky) hide. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Another cool cache construction, and I grabbed the TB for onwards travels. Thanks wingaap for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Today I had the pleasure to join Chamad, TripleTurmoil and later on Willis007 for a day of caching. Our initial target for the day was the land based Bird caches while also grabbing several other caches on our travels. We then moved on to Bribie Island to attend an event to have a brief break from caching duties and mingle amongst fellow cachers, luckily we dressed for the weather because that bitterly cold wind would rip straight through you, brrr!
After the event we decided to stay put on Bribie Island to grab the remaining caches that we missed on our last visit, I think we’ll need a 4x4 for the remaining ones however.
Thank you for showing us around these wonderful locations, we had an absolute blast.
Apologies for the generic log.

After an earlier event nearby I set about with a group, and then just one and then just me to work my way around the island searching for the defenders. Not owls (or were they guardians?) hmmm, but some interesting spots with some history. I have noted the "Defenders" aspect along the surf coast, but the history over this side of the island is not something I knew (or had thought about) previously. A very interesting journey. And a great tribute to one of our earliest 'Defenders' of QLD geocaching. That includes the CO in my books as well. And I am caching with Mr (and Mrs) Crew 153 today - another of our defenders. I'm on a roll.
Found a spot to enter with Mr C153 and after a short hunt spotted our little brave fellow. Bit of bounce in here, but I was using my phone. The hint helped, ta.
Thanks wingaap for entertaining me at this location.

Pprime and I joined up for the hunt on this one and we took the long way around to get to the cache and then the short route back to the car after the find.

I was over at Bribie crazy early this morning for a round of golf at the somewhat challenging Pacific Harbour course. Had a good day and got that I thought was a fair score and fortunately didn't loose as many balls as I expected.
A bit of a detour from heading home to find this cache, but was found nice and quickly.
Thanks!!

The last of the wingaap caches for the morning bike ride around Bribie.
I do like a good bike ride and just as much I do like my wingaap number. As always these caches alway provide a place to chill out and take in the surrounds.
Do love your work.

Big enough for swaps good for kids, put some swaps in there from our kids to yours
We spotted the nearby utilities quickly but certainly not the cache. We traipsed on into the bush finding the swamp then back being tripped by vines along the way, around and around a few things until the gnome popped out of his hiding spot. Was very well hidden, we had walked past several times. Another sturdy cache.
Several swaps - took aircraft & Starwars droid, left transformer & 1st aid mask.

Thursday. Mr SP was in the mood to go geocaching today. We targeted some choice caches on our way to #6000. Wow this is a sneaky cache. We walked past it a couple of times before Mr SP read a previous log mentioning that they too had walked past it a couple of times. Nicely hidden Mr wingaap
This was the 5th of 7 caches found on this outing.
Thanks ***wingaap*** for showing us this place

Another park and grab or it seemed to be. Log signed and cache replaced as found. Just leaving and a man stopped to see if I was ok. He must have gone past and turned around and came back to where I had parked. Still some caring people in the world. TFTC
Finally catching up on doing some logging I had a fun day out on Bribie Island caching with IolantheK
This was a well hidden cache which had us looking about a little before I managed to spot it. With our names added to the log book, we continued on our way.
Thank you wingaap for creating the cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy

We arevin Bribie for the weekend and today decided to grab a few caches before heading off too see some live music in the other side of the bridge. This one had us scratching around for a while until we had that light bulb moment. Tftc wingaap
We are staying at bribie for a quick weekend getaway to attend a gig at sandstone point hotel. Thought we better do a few caches around where we we staying.
Well this was interesting. Not because of the cache but because of middle child having a melt down on the side of the road and people giving me strange looks as it looked like I was trying to talk a child into going into the bush with me. But after some quiet chats and some convincing we were headed in to help find it. We walked straight past it at first but eventually realised we were going way too far. Soon had it in hand and signed. TFTF

Loving my early finishes from work on Fridays, I picked up Mr Curious Quest and we headed off to find a few caches. After finding a cache on the mainland, we headed to Bribie Island. This one took longer to find than it should have a s we both wandered past it several times before Mr Curious Quest spotted the cache. Log signed, cache returned to its spot and we were on our way again. TFTC
Out on a Friday afternoon with Selva Girls to pick up some caches. Another quick find; log signed and cache returned as found. TFTC
Good find. We have spent a few hours riding bikes around Bribie today. Great way to find caches.
Found after a brief search of some possibilities, thanks for a hardy and interesting container.
TFTC found with hedwig26 and 64piratelady. Was well hidden. Found at 8:35am. This one was also guarded by a little cutie.
Found it at 8:35 on 6th January 2021 with Hedwig26 and Teararose. Tftc. . Find number 828 for this piratelady.
When this new series of six wingaap geocaches came to be, I knew I'd make them a priority to be found. One does not simply leave wingaap geocaches unfound! And while they're all neatly in a single suburb or two, it's ever such a long drive from home on the Southside to Bribie Island. But this morning, there was a geocaching event to watch the sunrise on a new year at Shorncliffe and given it was both halfway to Bribie, and earlier than I deem appropriate, I had time to head farther north to here.
This would be my third stop of seven today and I was headed the wrong direction after my zix-hundred-ish metre drive from the last. Still, loads of room to pull my tiny car off the road and scurry across the bitumen. There was an odd noise and when I looked up, not only is there a wine glass water tower, but an osprey nest perched on top of the telecommunications tower. Ah, that's what the screechy noise was! Onwards towards GZ.
I dashed into the bush and immediately recognised the hint. I did a couple of laps around but still hadn't seen the sizable container. Odd, really. I tried again, looking closer and found it snuggled in, blended into the environment brilliantly. Oh, that is cool! I signed my name within and replaced exactly as found when I noticed I was about 10 metres closer to the road than my phone suggested.
On my way retreat back to concrete, I grabbed some plastic rubbish. Quarter to seven in the morning, and four smilies complete. Thanks for this geocache, wingaap

Loved the hide and the themed caches. Signed the log and returned to where I found it. Thanks Wingaap. All good with this cache.
Parked off the side of the road and went bush with the kids. Didn't take long to find it and make quick swaps before the mossies found us and forced us back to the car.

19/12/20 Find #4449
I had seen these get published while wombles and co and I were up the Sunshine Coast for the day, and had thought we could perhaps grab these on our return. However due to my eldest child requiring an urgent errand to be done, our day got cut short and the chance to head over here became impossible.
Being out again for the night for an event, I did wonder about a night time raid here but noticed the FTFs had gone. Of course they had, a wingaap cache (or 6) wouldn’t stay unfound for long at all.
However after having grabbed breakfast, two other FTFs and run an errand for Fangsoki’s parents this morning, we had the chance to head over here next, and I wasn’t going to say no!
Took a little time to find this one. But eventually I spotted the sneaky little defender while
Fangsoki had widened the search a little further away.
These utilities are certainly being defended by the mosquitoes here. Due to the time we took searching they got me good.... and a couple of them decided to try and hitch a ride in the Canyonero when we got back in. Personally I prefer the little defender that I found hidden away! He was much more friendly.
Thanks for the cache wingaap, a nice tribute series for Rastas000, and a good history lesson here today.

FTF Saw these six new caches come up while I was on the computer at home, so a quick shout to Geowife and we were on our way. Parked close to the Utilities and started my search but had to retreat back to the car for some mozzie spray as I was getting eaten alive. Walked back to GZ and spotted the cache straight away, nice hide and again an empty log sheet. TFTC wingaap
