Family had some time off for the school holidays and booked a place on Bribie Island. Was able to make a long weekend of it. Greatjustgreat and I had the opportunity to spend Saturday afternoon caching. We found half a dozen, a big haul for us, but we noticed that this cache had been archived, my holiday list having been created a while ago.
We were on a roll, and we thought we would give this a go anyway, having never found an archived cache before. The first cache we found in Qld was a Wingaap cache in 2012, just over 10 years ago.
We spotted the container from the path and quickly retrieved. The log book is dry and there is plenty of room within. All replaced for the next (?) finder.
Another location I would not have noticed had it not been for this hobby. Thanks for the cache and other memories Wingaap. Cheers

We were headed out to find this cache, while waiting for a family member to finish at an appointment nearby. So, we decided to turn this cache into a yellow smiley face finally due to it being on our radar for a while.
Before leaving the geocar (track my adventures D78QWZ) we re-read the description, the hint, confirming the Difficulty and Terrain and the previous finder’s logs dropped a big hint.
We set off to walk to the GZ. MummaBear66 was directing us where to go. So, we started our walk over to the GZ, discussing about where this geocache could possibly be located.
Thankfully after a decent search in the wrong place we worked out we were in the incorrect place and regrouped. Then we headed back to the Geocar and JLK to start writing this log.
Finally found this cache and replaced exactly as we found.
Thanks for the cache placement and maintenance Wingaap

After attending the Christmas in July event, I met up with Triple Turmoil, NayFee and chamad to collect some Bribie caches.
This cache was quickly found at gz, all is well with it.
Thanks wingaap for bringing us here.

Now there's a spot you could miss. Been to other bunkers on the island. Thanks for pointing this one out.
After attending the nearby Christmas in July Event, our morning group (nayfee, triple turmoil and myself) meet up with Willis007 and we decided to spend the afternoon collecting some of the local caches, cleaning up Bribie, again and possibly finishing off ones from this morning’s run.
We headed over to do this little series of caches. All were in good condition and the coordinates were spot on. They were nice little hides and the hints were a good help but not required. Thank you for placing these here and with the log signed on all we were then on to collect a few other caches in the area.

An event on Bribie Island today so an excuse for 4 of us to get together and make a day of it. Lots of fun and some caches ticked off with Willis007, Chamad and Nayfee. A quick find with a very specific hint.
After collecting the rest of the Little Bird GeoArt and attending the Christmas in July event, Snickersallan and I went to find more caches in the area, sometimes bumping with other event attendees along the way. Almost no muggles on this cold and windy day.
Thanks for the cache and taking us here wingaap. Interesting structure, I wonder what's inside?

Today, I explored Bribie Island centred around the *Christmas in July* lunch event. With a late morning home departure, I first visited Woorim and completed the *Sculpted Woorim* Adventure Lab. I then made my way to Bellara to join the event's Christmas festivities, before visiting a few geocaches around Bellara and Banksia Beach. I then had a 6 km walk along Red Beach, before joining a small group around Sandstone Beach with some tree fishing as the day's light faded.
This bunker was really cool, and upon first impression, it just looks like a garage or pool. I didn't get a chance to read the plaque across the road, but at least I got to know this local secret history due to this geocache. The cache container and logbook were in good shape too. Thanks wingaap for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

After attending the nearby Christmas in July Event, our group decided to spend the afternoon collecting some local caches before going our separate ways.
Had to use plenty of stealth here, heaps of muggles checking us out so we pretended we were bird watching before swooping in to sign the log.

Today I had the pleasure to join Chamad, TripleTurmoil and later on Willis007 for a day of caching. Our initial target for the day was the land based Bird caches while also grabbing several other caches on our travels. We then moved on to Bribie Island to attend an event to have a brief break from caching duties and mingle amongst fellow cachers, luckily we dressed for the weather because that bitterly cold wind would rip straight through you, brrr!
After the event we decided to stay put on Bribie Island to grab the remaining caches that we missed on our last visit, I think we’ll need a 4x4 for the remaining ones however.
Thank you for showing us around these wonderful locations, we had an absolute blast.
Apologies for the generic log.

After an earlier event nearby I set about with a group, and then just one and then just me to work my way around the island searching for the defenders. Not owls (or were they guardians?) hmmm, but some interesting spots with some history. I have noted the "Defenders" aspect along the surf coast, but the history over this side of the island is not something I knew (or had thought about) previously. A very interesting journey. And a great tribute to one of our earliest 'Defenders' of QLD geocaching. That includes the CO in my books as well. Having been with Crew 153 up until an hour ago - another of our defenders. I'm on a roll today.
A quick find here today in the advertised spot. Ran into a couple of other cachers here (for the nearby Adventure Lab actually). I so rarely run into cachers in the wild - but I still recall the first time I met this CO ... snuck up behind me at a multi in town. That was a while ago now.
Thanks wingaap for entertaining me at this location.

Lots of (I think) bowling muggles around, I was shoed away from the area by ladies in white ha ha I was looking a little suss on my own snooping around. Located the cache but realised I dropped my pen! Not having a great morning ha ha. So off to find some more and will come back later to secure my caching prize beautiful windy day but
Found on an extremely windy day! I don’t remember being out when it was this windy before. Wow! Quite an experience. Quick find and replace. Thankyou.
Out for a little head clearing MTB ride around Bribie this morning. After a mandatory coffee just down the road it was now time to start caching in full swing.
Hmm, this could be difficult is that a person sitting by the window. Good thing i have the bike as cover. Closer inspection it seems to be only one person and they are seating looking away from where I need to be. Make it quick ruzzelz. Yes - got it. Lucky it was where I thought.
Not everyone can have a bunker in their front yard. Must have been past this spot so many time and never noticed the significance of this structure.

Our last find for the day of 17. Pretty huge day for us!
With the sun nearly down over the passage across the road, we made our way to gz after checking out the Bongaree water tower for the AL (which was hard to get a good look at for the answer as it was inside the caravan park). It probably was not the best time of day for searching in this area as bogan muggles were out in force on the cabin verandahs enjoying the sunset. We were out of sight of one lot, then another lot came into view. We made the find, got out of sight, did a quick signing, then replacement and got out of there!

The breakdown is 13 mystery, 2 traditional, multi and 4 AL’s with 19 waypoints. A good day out. A few tree climbs. A few mystery solve some needed help on. Even the multi just needed some googling and the coords were found.
I also pickup some cacher for a tour to GZ on the 4WD track.

Thursday. Mr SP dropped me off so he could find a parking space whilst I made the grab on this one. Sooo many cars and people here on a Thursday. Who’d have thought that Bribie was the life of the party. Nice quick find here.
This was the 3rd of 7 caches found on this outing.
Thanks ***wingaap*** for showing us this place

Finally catching up on doing some logging I had a fun day out on Bribie Island caching with IolantheK

Ha, ha, just read now whilst logging at home that there was a bunker here. Clearly we had eyes only for the cache and not the bunker.
After a yummy lunch not far away, wombles and I continued on our merry caching adventure. I’ve driven past this spot so many times and never noticed the bunker. Would be interesting to go inside.

While Mr NQ got up and dashed off to climb Mt Ngungun, Mrs NQ opted for a much more leisurely Sunday morning stroll along the waterfront. There weren’t many other walkers out yet, and it was an easy effort to find, sign and replace the cache. TFTC
Ah, some solid military history of the area. Seems appropriate for a tribute to Rastas, based on the bit I know about the guy. And I love a bit of semi-hidden infrastructure history and a wingaap geocache!
The nice group of new geocaches on Bribie had my attention, but it's a bit of a drive from home. I waited until I was halfway there super early in the morning after a sunrise event at Shorncliffe to extend my trip and smash through what feels like a numbers run, going by my record over the last few years. I am so not complaining!
Just two on the island left and on my 1.5-kilometre drive from the previous to here, I left my windows down, figuring early morning might be cool and pleasant. It was semi-hot and humid, but I was committed. I found a park just down the way and walked back via the plaque and a lovely view across the passage.
I could dart across the road and the bush adjacent hid me from the only muggle I could see. A bend, a grab and a signature before replacing in just a minute or so. I wonder what's inside the bunker now - other than spiderwebs. Thanks for showing me this little piece of history and geocache, wingaap

# 2189 - Well, I have lived on Bribie for some 10 years, passed this bunker at least more than twice a week, but never really 'saw' it, so if anybody would have asked I would have most certainly denied that there was such thing as a bunker on this side of the island. Would have had to eat my words!
Anyway, as gcraider said in his log, we spent some time, had to reread the description and retrace our tracks and found it eventually.

19/12/20 Find #4446
I had seen these get published while wombles and co and I were up the Sunshine Coast for the day, and had thought we could perhaps grab these on our return. However due to my eldest child requiring an urgent errand to be done, our day got cut short and the chance to head over here became impossible.
Being out again for the night for an event, I did wonder about a night time raid here but noticed the FTFs had gone. Of course they had, a wingaap cache (or 6) wouldn’t stay unfound for long at all.
However after having grabbed breakfast, two other FTFs and run an errand for Fangsoki’s parents this morning, we had the chance to head over here next, and I wasn’t going to say no!
We headed over and I was surprised to see this bunker here. It was obvious what it was once you actually stop to look at it properly, but is so unnoticeable when driving straight past.
A quick find for me at this one, tho the removal was a little fiddly. However with no muggles in view I could manage this without looking suspicious.
Thanks for the cache wingaap, a nice tribute series for Rastas000, and a good history lesson here today.

FTF Saw these six new caches come up while I was on the computer at home, so a quick shout to Geowife and we were on our way.
