Another of the fun finds along the journey Very pretty and the cache had nice camo too!Cheers Tankengine and TFTC
I did a short loop driving south to tharwa and back up thru point hut cleaning out a few caches that Ive yet to find near my neck of the woods. I driven past this lookout many times but have yet to stop here. A cache that deserves a like. Tftc
Always a delight finding your caches, awesome one as always, thanks for the cache. Signed FS
Awesome cache this one!Only logging today, while hiking up with the CO at Bendora Arboretum Apparently the location of the cache was already set up when they decided to do a hide here How cool is it!Favourite for me! Picture not of the cache location, but us with the CO
After doing the morning Deep Space Station Guided Tour, we found this cache. On the way back to town, we stopped for some lunch and a cuppa, while look at the view.(and of course find this)Out caching with D@geoThank you the hide Tankengine
Found with gwd.aussie while up for the Canberra GeoBash. Stopped at lookout for lunch after attending the Deep Space Station Guided Tour. Nearby cache could not be left unfound. Thanks Tankengine
Geobash Easter Mega - Day #5 (Easter Monday 1/4)For day five of my trip, I decided on power trailing my way to and from my third and final (pre-booked) tour at the Deep Space Tracking Station. This makes my four tours total. The power was a mixture of two joined into one. The two main PTs were, Beautiful View PT and the Drive Trip PT. There were also a couple of others along the way which needed to be added to the mix to break it up a little. It was great fun but very hard going as not all of them were at GZ given on the cache page or were in prickly bushes. Many battle scars were earned but it certainly was fun though. Once at the Deep Space Tracking Station it was a great tour. I learnt lots and got to the radio telescopes up close. I also got to find the caches around the area before heading off. After leaving, I power tailed my way back via the other way to get back to Canberra and then had a very late lunch. After that, I headed off to the CITO to finish the day off. TB visit. If the cache wasnt signed as JohnoMawbs, it was signed as JM or as the tour group name. A big thanks to the CO for adding this cache to game for the Geocaching community to enjoy. TFTEs & TFTCs Now it's time for the return to Canberra PT trip. This cache was one of them along the way. A nice quick find here and now off to the next one.
This is a really good hide and it was found together with goingplaces2. All was replaced as found after the log had been signed. TFTC.
Stopped in at this lookout area and went looking for the cache as well. Found it in a well blended location and soon had two more names noted on the log. Thank you to Tankengine for placing this cache.
TFTC! 1 April 2024 3:34:42pm 7956 thanks to Tankengine for the cache! beautiful lookout over the region! Thanks for the cache here!
Beautiful spot. A few other sight-seers here today. Boot disappears next thing Bee hears a laugh and a chuckle! Found! *The generic bit*Travelled up form Northern Victoria to attend the GeoBash Mega in Canberra. We started geocaching just before the Easter Mega event in Rutherglen last year and will celebrate our 1000th find at this Mega. Thanks to the organisers, sponsors, volunteers and all the COs who make these events a great success.
Very excited to be here for my first Mega event from WA. Arrived a few days earlier to spend time with my childhood neighbour and family. Out with Russell today to try and boost my numbers to hit my next milestone whilst here.Ahhh now this is cool - fav point awarded. Love it! Many thanks Tankengine for placing this hide for me to find and adding to my adventures. This will be my 7842 find.
After a disappointing DNF nearby I needed a boost of serotonin! If I left for home now, I would be on time for dinner.. but if I diverted for this cache I would be however minutes the detour + search took me late. I really needed to come and find a cache though, I couldnt drive 40 minutes on the back of a multiple hour DNF! So I missed the turn back home and headed the couple of kms to the lookout! Parked only 20 metres from the cache, jumped out and headed to the coordinates. A quick 360 degrees around the object here and I spotted a likely contender for the hide! Very cool, Id love to know how this came to be, my guess is something to do with the park rangers and dendrology. It is a very large & old looking tree indeed! A very good find and a unique spot to attach a cache! Thanks Tankengine
Headed out to Tidbinbilla in the hope of plunging deep into the mountains but its all shut off due to the high winds!Rerouting as we speak to Namadgi and figured Id pick up a few caches along this road Ive never been down. I certainly never knew this lookout was here! Also didnt realise how massive a contribution Farrer made to the wheat industrythats some serious dedication. As for this hide, absolutely BRILLIANT! For starters, what a lovely spot at ground zero, the galahs were keeping a close eye on me. Did a few laps before I had the prize in hand. Thanks!
After a couple of days visiting my son and his family here in the ACT, it’s time to head home once again. Although today, I’m not bringing the muggle missus with me. So an opportunity to have a quick look at a couple of caches/series for future reference.
Pulled up in a nice lookout area and headed out towards the GZ. Was scratching my head for a few minutes before spotting something very sneaky! Wow, great hide here with a great view to boot!

Heading out to Tidbinbilla for an early morning caching adventure. Picked this one up along the way. Well placed, found without issue, signed and returned. TNLNSL TFTC
This is a very clever hide and by far my favorite I have done! A lot of work and thought must have gone into this! Thank you
Just out for the day on a windy day to catch up geocaching, quick find and placed back where it belong TFTC Tankengine
Lambrigg Lookout (if that is the true name) has long been a regular stop for me on the Tharwa cycling loop. A lovely spot to stop and take in the view of the valley!
I had wanted to go for a proper hike to get the last caches I needed for the Reach the Peak! challenge... but unfortunately the bonkers weather we had the last two weekends rendered that inadvisable. Instead, I used a dry spell on Saturday afternoon to drive to a handful of local roadside caches...
It might not have the same poetic appropriate ness of climbing an actual mountain for the souvenir, but at least "Centre of the ACT (almost)", "Beautiful View #22" and "Lambrigg's Lookout" are reasonably memorable caches for this purpose.
All were, fortunately, found quickly in between the flurries of rain.
Thank you to the cache hiders!

Another place which has passed me by over the years. A surprisingly well engineered hide and well worth the short stroll through the wet grass. Thanks for showing me this spot and TFTC Tankengine. A fav awarded.
Take my GeoDog drive around to country and stop at lookout make quick found cache and good hide ...Did you cut the tree hole???? lol ... thanks
After completing a service on my car, I took it for a road-test to Tharwa and back around Point-Hut Crossing. At around the halfway mark, I stopped at a lookout to check everything under the hood was sweet (it was ). While there, I took a look at the geocaching app and discovered there was a cache just metres away! Even funnier is that this is the very spot where I came months ago to try out my new throw-line launcher (used for climbing trees). With the excitement of that occasion I never thought of caches!
Anyways, found the cache right away, signed my name and replaced it as found. Hand sanitiser used before and after.
Thanks for another (unexpected) cache, Tankengine

What a beautiful rainy day to go caching in the country. Timed it well to enjoy the smell of the petrichor and then feel the rain coming in. A nice easy cache find, and I am thankful for the cache here as I failed miserably with solving the previous mystery cache that was here. TFTC
# 7459 I had no plans to geocache today. I did parkrun at Mt Ainslie and over breakfast at a cafe, a plan was hatched to grab some caches. I was not well attired for such a trip, but endured the cool conditions dressed in running gear.
A quick find here.
Thanks Tankengine

Quick find, awesome cache, a FAVpoint from me for the construction.
Thank you Tankengine for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

All logs in good condition unless otherwise noted.

Mrs Mister JD and I took some time out on this gorgeous afternoon to take the dogs walking, then we came out here to get a reading on the reverse whereigo at Point Hut Crossing, and grab a cache. As it was getting dark, we needed a park and grab, and this one was the only one handy. We enjoyed the drive out here, the lookout, and the cache. Liked the hide. Thanks, mate.
Out for an evening of caching with nibletricecakes, onieferret and GLISS! TFTC
Normally I’m good on the photos but today I was a little off my game so here is a photo of my pixie kitty instead. ??

Tonights mission, with Nibletricecakes, GLISS! and K8tybee, was all about numbers and suburbs. We each have personal challenges and tonight will help us with those.
This one would have to be my favourite for the night. It had spectacular views at night, I can't even imagine what it would be like during the day.
As we were standing signing the log, it seemed extremely close to snow, but alas there was none.
Thank you

Out on a Wednesday night caching adventure with K8TYBEE, onieferret and GLISS! With GLISS! getting close to the magical 6000th cache we thought we would tackle a trail to help her along. A lovely night of caching along a well established trail. Very excited when we pulled in here for a surprise Tankengine cache! LOVE this cleaver little hide. A fav from me Thanks for the cache!
Out with Nibletricecakes, Onieferret and k8tybee tonight. We were after some numbers and couple of suburbs tonight. Caches were quickly found. TFTC.
A nice view on a beautiful sunny autumn day, and some interesting history to put with this location. TFTC
After a few caches in southern Namadgi I stopped and found this one on the way home. TFTC.
I took my mother for a drive and we headed south to look at the Murrumbidgee River near Tharwa. I have never seen the river flowing so much. The sky on the way was also strange, with streaks. We then headed for Point Hut Crossing, but had to go back to Tharwa when we found Point Hut closed.
Interesting hide. A bigger cache would be good here, so people could leave trackables . Cache and log are good. TFTC Tankengine.

Fun, adventure, travel, history, geology, mental stimulation, social gatherings, support and friendship are just some of the elements of geocaching.
Out and about enjoying the opportunity to grab a few caches, yours being one of those I targeted on my journey today. Thanks ??
Thanks Tankengine (F=19410 H=1073) for placing this cache and adding to our game.

Day 5 of our trip to Queanbeyan, and surrounding areas.
Today we are caching with Micaparamedic & GoodLook, as the other teams in our group have headed toward the Mega. Using the stamp that we had made for group caching trips, we signed as 'The Mob' to save space on the logs.
We decided to do the Beautiful View series, and a few others in the area.
Loved the drive, and enjoyed the peaceful surrounding. The road was not too busy.
Many thanks for placing this cache, Tankengine, for us and others to find.

Enjoying our time back in the ACT, our meetings and catch ups are finished for the day so now it’s time for more geocaching. We have chosen the trails around Tidbinbilla, one because it’s beautiful country around here and secondly because these are nicely placed park and grab caches allowing us to cover a lot in a short space of time.

On the way out to Tidbinbilla for some walks, a quick detour here to locate this reasonably new cache. A very clever hide, and a lovely view - thanks Tankengine!
Out with dty73 and Tankengine after a new cache in the area and this was mentioned that it was quite new since my last visit. Indeed, there it was sitting very clear among my finds in the area so we made the short detour to find it.
A very cool cache and you have to wonder at how that came about! A surprising find here but that's why it's so cool!
Thanks for the cache Tankengine!!!

I remember finding this hiding spot years ago while looking for another cache. Today it was a quick find.
Thanks,
Thanks,
Out and about down south and this cache was a green dot amongst the yellows.
Had to wait for one muggle to leave near GZ, finally he left then a motorbike rider turned up!
Thankfully he was busy with himself and far enough away to not see me looking for the cache which was very quick to find.
Well made and exceptional use of an existing spot. And very interesting history. Tftc Tankengine!!!

Exploring southern Canberra today, taking a scenic drive and bagging a couple of caches. I never knew this lookout existed despite living just across in the Lanyon Valley. Gave me a new perspective of the area. And a fascinating history - who knew rust-resistant wheat was invented here. I would love to check out the Lambrigg property some day, now I need to find the nearby multi... Ingenious hide, thanks Tankengine.
Today's caching trip took me out after work to Point Hut road and Tidbinbilla Road to finish the remaining caches along that way towards my daily cache count per calendar day.
This was the second interesting cache I have found at this lookout, and I am glad it has a cache again.
Thanks for the cache Tankengine

After an eventful short hike up the road this was a quick pick-up on the way home. Loved the hide - unique! Good views from the lookout. TFTC Tankengine.

After today's event I was going to head south over the border into Victoria, but that plan was quashed when they shut the border. So plan B was some local caching involving walks. After a wander in Sherwood forest, then Uriarra crossing and Tidbinbilla, I dropped by this cache. Quickly found. A surprising hide. TFTC.

I remember the old cache here years ago and it was something very basic at the time .
A lot of effort has gone into this one more fitting to a prominent lookout .
Found and signed the FTF position and replaced as found .
Nice and green over the fields for January which was a bit different this time last year .
Fav point added for the sneakiness !
Thanks to Tankengine for the well placed cache .
