Glad to find this. Lots of water in the river. Really cool sculpture.

Day 7 and loving the chance to explore. Last day of our visit.

So exciting to be heading to NZ. Have not been to the NI so looking forward to exploring. Did not make it to the last Mega because of Covid so wonderful Kittykatch and I can get here now.

Thanks for getting me out and about Team Welsh

New Zealand North Island - Day 7
Found with Joolay on a trip to NZ to find the GeoTour. Another interesting location and story. Cache found in good condition though lots of flooding in this area.

Thanks for the cool cache Team Welsh

22-Jan-23
Up from Southland with Cantabrian Kiwicampnut to get the final piece of the PWGT puzzle.
Day 5 - Te Aroha to somewhere north of Auckland.
Argued with Mrs Google on the way here, but made it.
Sunday afternoon and not many around, so solved the puzzle without issue, making the adjustment. Not sure what my phone was doing, but my GZ was at thd tree in the open while Kiwicampnut had a different one. Soon had the container in hand and the codeword recorded. But what is that? An insect, animal, plant or process. With thd other 140 or so we've done its been obvious. A quick Google search provided the answer, and let's see if I remember what it is in another few months.
Thanks for the cache Team Welsh

Having been out of the country for the last 5-6 weeks, it's finally time for me to make my way back home having stayed with friends in Auckland for the last few days.

Today was going to be a long day as I was also targeting the last 12 PWGT caches I needed to complete the North Island. That meant a bit of a zig zag route through the Waikato, but the sun was shining so all was well. In all I spent 14 hours driving, but sometimes it's just what you have to do Smile

This was my second PWGT cache stop for the day, after having lost about an hour dealing with the consequences of one of the most bizarre finds I've ever made whilst out caching (see my log for GCA31Q7 for details). After getting the info I required, I headed off to GZ. Initially I was looking 'over there', but couldn't find the cache. Then whilst looking around I spotted a far more likely looking hide about 12m away and sure enough that's where the cache was.

No issues to report, and once the log was signed then everything was replaced back as found. Thanks for bringing me here today.

Ruru_Nz and I on another road trip to complete this area of the Geotour before it finishes.

Worked out quickly and headed off to gz. There we took the wrong pathway but soon saw the error of our ways. Back on track and cache located. Signed sealed and delivered back to its hideyhole

01-Jan-23
With the Geotour coming to and end soon Yvettetb and I decided to go on a road trip to collect Tahi and Rua. Of course I had some puzzles at various places to collect and a few special types were added to the list too.

This was our first day. We had an event in Whangarei to welcome in the new year. This turned into an ftf hunt with all the attendees in a convoy. This was followed by breakfast at one of the groups place. What a fantastic way to start 2023. We then headed off and visited Puhoi, Huntly, Ngāruawahia, Raglan and Hamilton ending our day in Te Awamutu.

We parked near the plaque and easily worked out the final location. A cool building across the road too. We then walked to collect the hide. A quick find there, thanks for the cache Smile

Our North Island Roadtrip from Whangarei to complete Tahi & Rua of the NZ Geotour - Day One.

Found the plaque with ease and after a short walk had the cache in hand. TFGC

31-Dec-22
Heading around the North Island picking up PWGT 1 & 2 caches and the odd other cache we drive past. Thanks for placing. Enjoyed stopping here today

25-Dec-22
It was really fun solving the geo location!
Wish more were like this one.
Totara trees definitely pricked us a lot but it was all worth it.

Tffc!

11-Dec-22
Couldn't find! We are new to this whole, so we will take a look on a nicer day as it's pretty wet.

20-Nov-22
couldn't find, I even used clues in comments maybe it's been removed.

14-Nov-22
I have a feeling that anyone who lives in New Zealand has heard of Ngāruawāhia, I guess that is because of the Tūrangawaewae Marae. We really enjoyed visiting the town and taking in its history. Thank you for sharing your part in it.
I loved the sculpture. It's great how it is so very modern but makes great use of traditional design motifs. There was a short moment of "is Maori or English needed?" but we soon had that sussed, very carefully crossed the street and made for GZ. The cache was an easy find and was returned exactly as found so I don't think you have reason to be concerned about the DNF that directly follows our visit.
Many, many thanks.

14-Nov-22
Towards the end of our caching day, enjoyed looking at the roses and puzzling about the trees I haven't seen before. Great sculpture.

26-Oct-22
I'm on a road trip to the far north, attempting to complete the PWGT Tahi Geotour.

This is day one, heading from home to the bustling metropolis of Huntly.

Will expand on my logs, post photos, qualifying caches for challenges, etc. When I get home. TFTC

Glad to have avenged my DNF. That's certainly a place I didn't look before.

Keep finding new and interesting parts of this town. Today was no different TFTC

02-Oct-22
Thank you for this Multi, Teak Welsh. I’m quite sure that I wouldn’t have even stopped in this town had it not been for geocaching- I really enjoyed this sculpture & gathering the information.
Quick find at the final location, another GeoTour cache found. I’m on a bit of a road trip trying to find these caches.

17-Sep-22
Convinced Mum to come on a river walk with me only to secretly look for geocaches along the way ! Got the coordinates and located the Totara Trees oretty quickly. After a few minutes of snooping around we located the cache, signed and got on our way

17-Sep-22
Some of Team SEAC from Auckland hatched a plan to ride from Ngaruawahia to the Hamilton Gardens today. Mrs HeMaLuDy opted to do some other caches in the area, do a spot of shopping and meet them at the other end. This was my first for the day, and would have been a whole lot quicker if I had read the calculations correctly the first time. Nice quick find once I go the checksum to match and wandered over to GZ.

26-Aug-22
We were able to park our big rig not too far away, then a short walk to find the answers for this multi, and a quick find at the final GZ with no one around. We’re sure the wet weather had something to do with that! All good with the cache, TFTC and thanks for bringing us here Team Welsh.

20-Jun-22
Did the research. Didn't take too long. A bit more time to find the final. Tftc

18-Jun-22
Thanks for cache. It's nice and dry.

15-May-22
Last cache for the day. While little cacher ran to the playground and the monkey bars, I ran to GZ, I couldn't find anything and the trees didn't match the hint, and gz was kind of in the middle of the trees... Ho, it's a multi. Once I sorted the coordinates out we walked to the final. I made the find, as little cacher was too small. We then drove a bit further by the river to freedom camping area and stayed for the night, close to another wonderful playground. Thanks for taking us here.

30-Apr-22
Lovely little wander and also a chance to metal detect an empty playground (didn't find anything). Haven't really explored this area before so thank you for bringing me here.

16-Apr-22
I had spent a weekend at Turangawaewae marae a few years ago but on that trip we did not get to look around the town at all, so today it was great to have a drive around.
The numbers were soon collected and I put them into my phone (or at least I thought I had) we went to gz which looked plausible, there was one hint item but we couldn't find the cache.
I rechecked the numbers and one set had not changed, not sure what I had done wrong. So I corrected the coordinates and we wandered to the correct location.
GK made a quick find of the cache and while I was signing the log he was being mosquito tucker. He has got some beaut mosquito bites on his feet and legs.

We are in the North Island to try to complete the PWGT Tahi section so we are having to head to the far north. Along the way we will pick up a few other caches that take our interest such as those with lots of favourites or size large or letterbox caches or some that will just help us to fulfil some of the various challenges we are working on.

With the new souvenir challenge we need to use the app to log the finds, but as I like to waffle on and write my stories on my laptop I am writing these while back at the campervan.

Thank you for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley

10-Apr-22
I really liked this sculpture and we both thought it would be nice to see it lit up at night. Gathered the numbers but as so often happens with multis I didn't have the checksum right - had missed the minus 7. We first checked one hint item and then Paddle Chick noticed another and she quickly found the cache there. TFTC Team Welsh and your contribution for this very interesting tour. TFTC # 18,387

10-Apr-22
Isis58 and I are on the home straight of our 4 day geotour mission. We quickly found some numbers and headed to gz. I didn't notice the slight change in coordinates but we found it quickly anyway. Left a TB. Thanks for the cache and your contributions to get geotour Team Welsh

Off on an adventure largely targeting geotour caches!

Thanks for your part in making the geotour happen!

Had it solved pretty quickly, but the cache can be really hard to find when you mix up two numbers! Whoops!

Found it quickly after it was sorted though.

05-Mar-22
Found it on our trip with Cyclical caching, cool little spot by the water. Thanks !

04-Feb-22
A very quick find using infoferret's suggested slight amendment (add .008 to your calculated south coordinates and add .006 to the east coordinates) and the latest hint given by the CO. Lovely area, thanks for the history and the cache.

03-Feb-22
Found while on a road trip north with Flowerydaze picking up PWGT1 series. Another hot day in the Waikato. Interestingly the coords suggested by Infoferret were pretty good and made for a quick find, we got part way back to the car and realised we hadn't collected the codeword shriek !!!! The second approach was from the park area and not the pathway, which was easier (for us oldies)

31-Jan-22
No luck for me Sad side note: I drove by the Turangawaewae marae on the way. It looks very impressive.

I really enjoyed all of the history in this cache page but sadly I couldn't find the cache. There was a fair few empty bottles around the area and no one clear Geopath to give as a hint. I found a lot of potentially awesome spots to hide a cache and tried to have a decent look around since the log said it's been moved, but after a while I decided to give up and head home. Might come back if it gets replaced or if I can convince another set of eyes to go on a road trip.

25-Jan-22
Please note that I have noticed that some people are finding the cache away from where the final should take you. This cache went missing during L4 lockdown and I was unable to travel to replace it. A very kind local cacher replaced it for me and due to personal reasons I have been unable to get there to check it out myself. I have updated the hint which should help and will check it out as soon as I can.

25-Jan-22
Searched round about, and came away eventually with the cache, several metres away.

23-Jan-22
#10,760. After spending the morning climbing the hills and pushing through long grass in the hot sun on Browns Island, Infoferret and I were starting to run on empty by this stage of the day. We wanted to pick up a couple of geotour caches but were too worn out to spend long looking for other caches. However we diverted off the expressway and drove into Ngaruawahia (thanks for the info on how that name came about). We found the plaque and calculated the coordinates and headed off to GZ. Well we both searched very thoroughly but did not find anything, We didn't have the benefit of the Seagnoids log description at that stage. So phoned some friends and got a heads up about having to widen the search area (by quite a bit). I had checked the right spot but failed to be thorough. After the friend called back I searched more carefully and this time came up with the goods. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache where found. Thanks Team Welsh and Ministry of Education for hiding it here and providing some local history. Time now to head to Cambridge and pick up some dinner.

23-Jan-22
23 January 2022 18:49. The last cache of a long, long day which started with a water taxi to Browns island (over 20000 steps, 7.96km walked) to Green Bay via the airport, then heading South to Cambridge. What was meant to be a quick find, turned into a much longer one.... First I miscounted one of the lines, (thanks for the checksum which spotted that error), then we headed off to the final, then wandered around the theoretical GZ, finding precisely nothing.

Messaged two contacts, and eventually managed to locate it several meters away. Updated coordinates provided to the CO. TFTC Team Welsh for the MinistryOfEducation

22-Jan-22
Day 3 of the Mega trip. Hamilton to Auckland, the Mega event, and a bit of general mucking about. Geocaching is the slowest route between any two points, and one and a half days after leaving Lower Hutt we are still only at Hamilton. So we got up and promptly moved off, hoping to make the Mega by about 11am. But the other point of this trip is to collect GT caches, so we diverted out this way on the way up.

Spent a while hunting at GZ and got nowhere. Walking back to the camper I found why there are a few DNFs here. The dragon decided to do her occasional thing and hunt where the cache obviously isn't, and found it. Looks like the coordinates are a bit sloppy here. The cache is 20m from GZ, hidden just uphill from the track, an ordinary cache in a fairly classic hide.

And then later we remembered this was a GT cache, and shot back for another find to grab the codeword. Oops!

Normally I take my bicycle and spend at least a couple of weeks on my Mega trips, but this time I went to Auckland with Taybeedragon and a campervan. And normally in that two weeks I would find a few hundred caches at about 40 per day (yes, by bike), but this time I only had 4 days and we only found 70 caches and a few labs (which are also caches). Only a few days as I am trying to save my annual leave for a trip to Seattle. Assuming that even ever happens! We mostly targeted GT caches and the occasional special. Which meant a lot of very inefficient driving (eg 20 km across Auckland for just one cache!). It also meant for some very long days

20-Jan-22
Between coordinates that may not be accurate, a container that's different to the original, and not knowing if the hint relates to the original or new container, I had no clue what I was looking for.

21-Dec-21
The coordinates kept sending us to one place but after reading previous logs we decided the cache wasn’t there. I paffed and was given clear instructions where to find the cache, which then found easily.

Out and about with LNM1961 again on another PWGT roadie. Locating and signing other logs as well. TFTC Team Welsh.

21-Dec-21
Well that was a mission. Checked & double checked we had the correct coordinates, and still no sight of the cache. Followed and checked the nearby geo trails and still no luck. Ethness did the PAF trick who was able to provide more info that we needed to move away from our current search area and redirected us another location and also what sort of vegetation we should be looking for. Cache soon in hand to sign and replaced as found. Nice to be touring NZ.

27-Nov-21
Wow made hard work of this one - coords led us on a merry chase. Thanks to itchyfeet2020 persistence finally found. TFTC

27-Nov-21
Found it! has never rung truer! Our co-ords were well out. After crawling through wandering willy following and leaving multiple geo trails there wasn't much of our calculated GZ left to search. Once I got to the point of reading logs I figured the hint may no longer be true and it could be a simpler version. Still took a very long time to find. Will have to recheck why our calcs were so out later. But all the same persistence won the day! and thank you for the replacement as we are on a PW tour from out of town so very much appreciated. TFTC.

08-Oct-21
Logged with the very kind permission of the CO. This cache has really turned to custard for us. Such a terrible shame that this cache went missing, especially when the CO is locked down and can't maintain for us lucky cachers who can still get out there. And now this area is also in lockdown so no returning to find the replaced cache!! When it is safe to do so we will be back! Of course it is the Northland caches we need to target next, but........ Thanks very much Team Welsh for setting up this cache, your great communication and rapid response to having the cache checked and replaced. Well done indeed.

08-Oct-21
We enjoyed reading the history and the short walk around the park area, we had previously looked for the cache after calculating the the final GZ …unfortunately some person wanted the container for another project and had decided to remove it…It was a tad tricky as the C.O. Was in lockdown city and was unable to check….the issue was soon solved by using geocaching friendly technology and a new container was installed thanks Team Welsh for the history lesson and cache

04-Oct-21
This cache was indeed missing and as I can't get out of Auckland to check, Greg has gone and checked it and has popped in a temp replacement which is fantastic. Thanks MCC for completing this maintenance as it is really appreciated. Thanks also to Allan and Joyce who also offered to go and have a look. Love cachers that help each other out.

03-Oct-21
Spent some time looking around the area and enjoyed the sculpture after obtaining all the information and calculating GZ co ords our search began we spent nearly an hour looking but were unable to locate…searched all the trees and wandering dew in a large radius…but were unsuccessful..the C.O. Was contacted but Covid has them firmly fix to their abode. The Team were happy to help and get some one on the correct side of the border to check and advise thanks Team Welsh I look forward to finding the treasure one day

03-Oct-21
We only had two on our "must finds" list today. The first an Earth Cache which was fine, but then an Ad Lab got in the way!! Finally headed to Ngaruawahia and a place we have visited before. An impressive sculpture. The coordinates were calculated and off we went. We searched up down and around. Either we are blind or the unthinkable has happened. The CO responded very quickly and we look forward to looking for this cache again at a later date.

11-Sep-21
As this cache is in a Level 2 area it is now available for finding. Please be safe while caching.

23-Aug-21
Geocaching is not advisable during Level 4 lockdown.

Do your part at eliminating this virus and DO NOT find this cache.

12-Aug-21
This had the potential to be a difficult find and until I reread the hint it was a little tricky. Finally caught on to what I was doing and soon had the log signed.
Fav point awarded for the extra work on the cache hide.

23-Jul-21
Yay finally got to this one! Mum and I came a few months ago but had to leave due to a gang dust up, but found it today!! Thanks for this cute find.

14-Jun-21
This is a cool little multi to work out. It was raining, so I took a photo then jumped in the car to work out the final. The final is rather cute and in a great little possie. TFTC Smile

10-Jun-21
I came down to Hamilton for one last Geocaching day with nufrat before we move to Nelson. We started looking in a morass of broken branches, but finally moved to another location which allowed us to spot the cache. TFTC.

01-Jun-21
out with agazo today, we were pretty quick with getting what was needed, then we looked almost where the coords put us but couldn't find anything, moved to another area that showed the same distance and soon spotted the cache, tftc

27-May-21
Picking up a few cache numbers around Ngaruawahia today, with this PWGT cache a prime target. Parked near the posted co-ords and wandered over to obtain the information that we required. Calculated our final GZ and made our way there. This is a very picturesque spot for the hide. Took us a little while to locate the cache as we are working by phone today and its GPS was a bit imprecise to start with. Interesting to read the history on the cache page and about your family conection to it. Many thanks. Adding a favourite point.

27-May-21
Caching in Hamilton and surrounding area today.
Quick solve of the plaque...
punched in co.ords and found the lovely container.
Took me a while as I didn't expect that size or type!
Thanks for the history and show casing the sculpture...

26-May-21
Up from Dunedin on a roadie from Auckland to Christchurch to get a good number of North Island PWGT caches and some others.
Gathered all the required information and headed to the final. Cool container! Favourite point from me. Tftc

16-May-21
Stopped by here after coming off the Expressway at Taupiri for the IP address available. Gathered the required details, admired the art and nearby building and then walked off to final GZ. Another nice final here, FP is coming and replaced as found after getting the codeword noted.

A first visit to Raglan for us today, we've passed the turn off a few times and been saying for a while we should go. The recent Geotour caches were probably the final nudge we needed and we headed there today after the weather forecast improved from its previous of a rainy weekend. We headed off at the leisurely time of 0830 and back for a reasonable tome of 1830. Grabbed the Geotour cache in Ngaruawahia on 'the way past', and a nice trip to see the Bridal Veil falls too. Nice day in Waikato and bumped into supernannny, Merlot and Nette on at least 4 occasions as we moved around the region. Thanks to all COs.

03-May-21
Out with Merlot58 and Nette we travelled south to Ngaruawahia. It was a very warm and sunny Autumnal day and we enjoyed our stroll here to collect the required information. We had no problems with the checksum and were soon on our way to gz where the cache was soon spotted. Thanks for a fun multi

02-May-21
Jag50, Nette1234 and I had intended to walk the Taupiri Scenic Reserve today but access to it was closed so we headed to Ngaruawahia instead. This was a nice wee multi to do and after getting the final co-ords we made the walk to gz and signed the log.

02-May-21
Out with Merlot and Jag
A Lovely sunny day walking around the park.

29-Apr-21
Out and about again in Hamilton today. Last time I passed thru and took info home to solve. Enjoyed a beautiful stroll about and nice quick interesting find. Love the container.

My first multi cache. I liked the cache as different to the usual pill containers. More thought has been put into this. Thankyou! Gets a fav from me!

23-Apr-21
First multicache, love it!! Thank you

20-Apr-21
I went for a wee drive in my cachemobile up to Otorohanga to locate and sign off a PW cache and to labour over a couple of AdLabs.

This was the PW multi cache and once I had all the necessary info I was off to the final.

Cheers for the cache.
.

Cheers for the cache.

18-Apr-21
After doing the AL we decided to carry on in the area picking up a few more. Enjoy easy multis. Nicely constructed cache. Tftc

17-Apr-21
A cool multi with a cool final in a cool place on our way up to Auckland. FP for this one. Thanks for another Geotour cache ticked off.

12-Apr-21
Familiar place, seem to come here often. It is a nice place to freedom camp. Got to go and looking around. Signal poor so checked hint. Turned around and there it was. Another win. Cheers.

I tae mai māua a te wā o te whakamutunga o te kura no reira tokomaha ngā tamariki e takaro ana kei reira! Tino ātaahua te whare tātata. He kupu hou ki ahau, te kupu torupuku. Me he mea ka purei au i te kemu 'kupu', kaore e kore ka wini!
We got there as school finished so there were heaps of children playing there. The house nearby is beautiful. The codeword is new to me. If I play Scrabble I am bound to win! Kia ora.

09-Apr-21
A nice quick find thanks. Last for the day, now a slow trip into Auckland at rush hour to contend with. Racking up the km with this new geotour, but all going well so far.

Ms_KR and I flew up to Hamilton to catch up on family and a few caches, especially those in the new PWGT geotour. Day 4, National Park back up to Auckland. Hint driving linto Auckland at 5pm on a friday is diabolical!. We are looking at completing those in the Central North Island this holiday.

Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

03-Apr-21
Today AliGle and I headed to the Hamilton Gardens to meet up with some of her family and have a look around. We took the opportunity to do this PWGT cache on our way back to Auckland this evening. Soon did the math at the sculpture, then headed off to find the cache. My GPS has been badly acting up, so had to revert to using the phone to find this one, eventually spotting this cool hide. TFTC!

03-Apr-21
Heading back up to Auckland with Vistra after a day at Hamilton Gardens. A quick park and grab after working out the coordinates.

01-Apr-21
I'm heading south in the motorhome, and Ngaruawahia is a great place to stop overnight with the free parking area by the river, and I noticed this neat multi when checking the caching web site. After getting some supplies from over the road at New World, I grabbed the info, well took a photo, and headed back to the motorhome to solve. A cool place for a final, and an easy find, TFTC

20-Mar-21
Found it with great company of Aiden29. We stopped here in Ngāruawāhia to do Adventure Lab so GoeTour hide was handy to pick up too.
TFTC

20-Mar-21
I received a message from Tramyard asking if I wanted to head to the Waikato to complete a number of adventure labs around the area. Even though I was in Hamilton for work this week I didn't have a chance to travel out to attempt these ALs and as it's always fun with others I agreed to join him.

We ended up in Ngaruawahia for the AL along the river. After completing that and watching the Tūrangawaewae Regatta, which was a nice surprise, I noticed that there was a multi close by and realised that it was a geotour cache. I convinced tramyard that since we were here that we might as well claim a find. We made quick work of the solve and walked off to locate the final. We found a nice trail that lead us to GZ and I spotted the cache quickly. A nice cache container. Thanks for the multi.

17-Mar-21
stopped here for a look a few times. interesting spot. TFTC

07-Mar-21
Nicely constructed cache. Maths all good. Thanks for hide

07-Mar-21
On a mini caching adventure around the Waikato, it is about 10am, then sun is shining, and here we are at the published co-ords, taking pictures, and gathering the required information to create the final co-ords.

Was very happy to see that my numbers agreed with the checksum, so with new numbers loaded, we made our way to the final location.

It was rebel who spotted the hide, navigating ourselves closer, we soon had the log, and noted the PWGT code word.

Like what you have created here, a fun find for us, and first time visit to the sculpture.

Thanks for the multi and the hide Team Welsh Big Grin

26-Feb-21
nice straightforward multi although there was a van with muggles visiting today. Straight forward find after doing the Te Aroha one and knowing what to look for. Lots of bottles and stuff around cache. Look forward to doing more in the series.

26-Feb-21
We parked outside Turangawaewae House but were asked to move as the Maori King was due to arrive, so took a photo of the plaque and drove down to The Point to do our calculations. A short walk to GZ and a container not unlike some from the previous geo-tour. This is number 50 for this geo-tour. TFTC.

21-Feb-21
again we learn more about early nz in our travels.
really we should stop and spend more time at these locations but time was getting on today.
worked through questions and got our solve
takes for another PWGT cache

With an older brother, a dog, and a Gap (of Fap and Gap)... We're making hay while the sun is shining - and boy, the sun is definitely shining today!

The cache description made for interesting reading. Since this area is not my rohe (tribal region), it's history is not so well known (unfortunately). It was interesting to learn about the meaning of Ngāruawāhia, and also regarding the Kīngitanga Movement... We derived some coordinates and headed for the final - a nice shady spot to let the dog have a run. We spied the cache and found an access path straight to it. Thanks Team Welsh and TFTC.

Just the kind of multi I like, short and no grubbing around for intermediate stages that are no longer there (usually the last on on a long multi). Anyway, this was a short history lesson and a quick find. Thanks for both. Great container deserves an FP. Took TB. TFTC & FP.

Thanks for the cache and the Pokai Whenua tour really enjoying this tour with some really well put together caches. Interesting reading the history of Ngāruawāhia and your family’s link to the town. Nice quick solve to move on to the final and retrieve the code word and log book a well put together cache FP added.

What a great multi which not only gave us some very interesting history but also took us to a lovely place we never knew existed.
We parked nearby and walked to GZ where we found this awesome cache.
There looks to be a lot more exploring to do around here but that will need to wait for another time as today our mission is the Geotour.
Thanks TeamWelsh for a great cache in a nice spot.
Our 6th stop on the Pokai Whenua Geotour.

On the road again learning about the history of our country. Thanks to all of the cachers involved in setting up the Geotour.
After a few days exploring the southern half of the North Island we are now a little closer to home but still expect to visit some previously unexplored territory.
Made this one our lunch stop as we worked on extracting numbers from words which luckily agreed with the checksum on first attempt. Nice hide at the final TFTC.

Still pretty wet today as we head towards Auckland to pick up the campervan for the week.
We did a bit of circling around as we searched, and spotted the nicely constructed cache but then had to figure the easiest way to GZ, which soon presented itself.
Thanks for putting this here for us to find and for contributing to the new geo tour.

Our last day of 4 to collect all the PWGT series south of Auckland down to Lake Wairarapa. Today, I’m with FMZ in his 4WD and it’s been a serious mission.

Yea, that fascinated me too, I have grown up with that term ‘King Country’ and now I know
where the term comes from. Also never knew the meaning of Ngaruawahia – the opened food pits, such a cool name. Thanks very much Team Welsh for being more than a small part of this tour. Organising it, placing caches too, well done. This is me and Chris’s very last cache for the North Island, it’s very appropriate too, since your cache at Puhoi was our very first one we started and got FTF on. It’s 10:45pm when we leave here, and we got back to Chris’s at 12:15am, then I had to drive back to my place, a l-o-n-g day! A FP from me.

Day five of a five day North Island Pokai Whenua GeoTour expedition collecting all the geotour caches for PWGT Tahi and PWGT Rua. 3550km travelled over 5 days, 70 geotour caches found. Today we travelled from Turangi to Auckland via the Waikato. Our group today consisted of Gorby, boneybruce and myself.

Oddly enough it turned out that my our first and our last geotour cache in the North Island happened to be the 2 geotour caches by the same CO, chief coordinator of the whole thing (nice one TW). So yeah, this is the last geotour cache find for us in the North Island, meaning we have now completed the first two geotours. TFTC!!!

A quick solve, I elected to sign the log book early this morning. Entered GZ and had a quick shine around with my torch and quickly spotted something out of the ordinary... Signed, sealed and returned, I now better get back to work! TFTC! #2417

We had a very different weekend planned but hubby at a couple of nights earlier said why not go after some of these geotour caches and make the most of the long weekend and good weather - so managed a few under the belt and thank you for the all the effort gone into placing these caches.

After the clean up cache GC95A8T Hairy KGD and I were off to the north Waikato to get some caches. The roads were busy but with a radio and air con it was good. tftc.

Thanks for the history lesson

PWGT #38 (for us)
A very cleverly sculptured piece, and a wonderful addition to the area. Information for multi quickly and easily gathered and we made our way to the final co-ords. Here it was a short search to locate a nicely constructed cache and sign the log. Well worth a favourite point.
Thank you so much for all your efforts in not only this cache placement but also for your assistance in coordinating these tours. TFTMC

Found it. Be careful when collecting, something sharp pierced through my shoe and in my foot

These Pokai Whenua caches are certainly well spread out - suffice to say it was quite an early morning... Luckily I had McJandals to keep me company for most of the day venturing through rural Waikato.

This Multi was a nice, quick, and enjoyable one to sort. For the most part, these PWGT caches are of a much better pedigree than the previous tour and this geocache was no exception. Sometimes these multi's can be difficult and troublesome and at other times, straight forward and easy. We were very pleased to find today it was the later because we were in for a pretty full on day and needed to get back on the road.

Cheers Team Welsh - congrats on being part of the Pokai Whenua team and well done on this Multi.
