Big thanks to DDTs for placing this cache! Your effort brought an extra spark of excitement to our geocaching quest. This discovery was find number 1351 for us, marking another awesome moment in our adventures. Living and traveling full-time across Australia in our Toyota Coaster, we're always on the lookout for caches to uncover. To see more of our travels, feel free to follow our journey here https://linktr.ee/SalandAnth

Today we headed out to 7 Mile Beach to find some caches. Beaut of a day for caching. We hadnt anticipated the terrain here the horses sure do chew up the path ways here, encountered 5 riders and horses on our walk. All caches found, this is a super series. Loved all the tree adornments, and that these were all regular/large. Giving a few FP for those points and for keeping this series going for so many years. Cheers we enjoyed!TFTC

Today Zozetta and I went caching in the Seven Mile Beach area. We started on Surf Road and walked to the Esplanade, finding four caches along the way. We then moved on to Pittwater Road to find a cache in the Journey series that we had had a DNF on last time we were here. After that we went to tackle the ‘Amongst the Fir Trees’ series. Then, to finish off the day, we went back to some of the Journey series which we had already found to get the numbers needed for the final, which we had forgotten to take note of last time. In total we had fifteen finds - the same amount that we had last time we cached in this area. Fourteen traditionals, one multi and no DNFs.

Our main target for today was this series, so after finding a few caches at Seven Mile Beach we moved on to this series. We enjoyed the decorations at each cache and good coords meant that they were all easy finds. We were a little surprised by the sand on the walking/riding paths, and that we didn’t see a single muggle while finding the caches. Thanks for a great series and showing us another area that we didn’t know about!

Thanks for the cache DDTs!

TFTC! We walked straight past it and took a minute to find the right tree! Awesome day out, thank you for the experience

Easy

My search for the ghosts of Christamases past (or Christmas caches past) continued this Easter afternoon. This was my seventh for the day and this time there was a nice fence-line to follow, which made things easier (why is it there, though?!). This was one of the newer Sistemas (if I recall; and there was a smidge of water ingress, although the log was dry. I drained the cache (it was only a few mL) and have placed it on a slight slope which I hope will help. Thanks DDTs for a satisfying afternoon. [And apologies for the moderately generic logs: they were moderately generic "fir" trees!]

12-Mar-23
thought we keep going along this trek log book dry

12-Mar-23
Log dry
Happy hunting

01-Jan-23
When we bought these new type sistemas, we thought they would keep the cache contents dryer, but sadly the reverse seems to be the case. Dried cache out and left new dry logbook. May have to replace the container if it fills with water again.

06-Dec-22
Finding ghost shrooms everywhere now. Good cache. Quite moist inside, including log book, but still usable.
Thanks DDTs

27-Nov-22
Hi DDTs, I had a few hours to kill on the eastern shore, so thought I should come here for a stroll.
After finding 2021, I made my way here. This time I tipped out over 2 thirds of a cup of water, including some from the logbook bag - and signed a very damp log. I had no spares with me - the log bag is obviously wet, but I put it back as was but put a few sticks in the container to help keep the log bag a bit elevated, but it could do with a new bag and tidy up.
In hindsight, maybe I should have deferred this journey a few more weeks - hoping for a 2022 iteration.

Thanks for all your 'Christmas caches'.

Cheers, EPs.

Great find

11-Jan-22
In the opening days of 2022 we had plans to head to Five Mile Beach with Porkchop6977 and track down the latest "Amongst the Fir Trees" cache. Unfortunately those plans fell through, but we were still keen to pay a visit. Today ended up being our chance.

While in the area, we figured we'd best also track down this one, the only other "Amongst the Fir Trees" cache we'd not previously found in this area. The walk out to GZ was pretty uneventful, and somehow felt a lot quicker and easier than when we'd previously gone for the 2011 cache. The fence is very mysterious - one has to wonder why it was felt necessary to thoroughly fence off that particular section?

Having had mixed experiences with other caches in the area, we were glad to find that this one required very minimal bush-bashing to reach, and we only ran face-first into a couple of spiders along the way! A very easy find was had, nestled under the best-decorated tree we've found so far.

Thanks for placing this cache!

Oh my gosh. How awesome was this cache. The first like this for us to find. We are from Brisbane and are tenting at the Big 4 caravan park. We decided to do an afternoon with a few caches in it and as we have no car (couldn't afford $500 a day to hire a car!), we walked here. So pleased we picked these caches (even if we did end up doing about 13 km walk). The little chikins loved it. Thanks for the imagination. The chikins from Brisbane

Thanks DDTs.

Out and about with RoadieM today collecting this series of caches amongst the pine trees. A few decorations still attached to the tree here, which hadn’t been attacked by wildlife. Log stamped and we were on our way. TFTC.

18-May-21
We are on a mission to improve our May stats and in doing so we’re clearing up as many outstanding caches as practical.

We didn’t have time to collect this when we collected the other Xmas tree cache so today was a very pleasant stroll to gz. The decorations have stayed on the tree on this one much more so than the other.

Quickly found and logged before taking the pleasant stroll back. TFTC

I was keen to tick off this cache and dragged stainless steel rat out even though he found it late last year. I've returned to many caches for him to find, this was my turn!
The track is hard going but we got so involved in our conversation that we walked past it. Luckily not far so we turned around and headed into GZ.
Another well stocked cache but all I took was a photo.
Thanks DDTs.

Today we decided to cache in this area and revist a few more tracks with whitewebbs. A great day out, not too windy an enjoyable walk.

Cache and contents were in good condition.

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

While Mr W was heading to new caches at Seven Mile, Mrs W decided to find the "Xmas" cache at Five Mile. After the heavy rain overnight the sand had firmed so not too bad to walk through. The well decorated tree was soon spotted and log signed. As the tide was further out, returned to the car via the beach. Nice to find this great cache 10 years to the day since our first cache find. Had a target to get after work. Firstly to clear this area out again of caches and secondly to grab the Night cache in the area.

Walking in the soft sand is always difficult, be finding such an interesting fence in this area was a surprise. I had seen it on the map before, but never seen it in person. What an over-engineered fence. Spreading out 3 feet at ground level on both sides and 3 feet overhang at the top. The reason for it is unclear to me - looking at the map. It seems to just be another area of pine forest. Got me

Great to see another christmas cache - I am a bit late this year in finding it, but its great that the tradition continues. Thank you DDTs

Hi DDTs, another year has flown by and another Xmas cache to find thank you very much. On a beautiful warm sunny Sunday Miss M, Miss J and Master A and I wandered along the trail toward GZ. Again using the sides rather the the middle of the trail it didn't take us too long to cover the 800 odd metres from the car park to the cache and of course once there we were again suitably impressed with the effort taken in setting up yet another great Xmas themed cache. Now 2014 still haunts me so before too much longer I need to locate that one! Thanks again for your efforts in establishing a series that all look forward to each year.

Hello DDTs thank you for the cache

I do love your christmas tree caches.
Today I wanted to find a special cache to start the year and this is the one I picked.
I started walking along the beach until it run out as the tide was high. From there I followed some horses along the soft sandy track.
The cache was easily found.

After tea we headed out to the Seven Mile Beach area to look for four caches. One was a night cache and we tried to time our arrival so that we would get to the night cache at sunset. This was our third cache hunt and a very important. Since we started caching, we have endeavoured to find the annual Amongst the Fir Trees cache in between and New Year. So after finding the second cache we walked over 1.6km along the beach, being very pleased that it was low tide. Once near GZ we were fortunate to find an easier way to come up from the beach to the level of the pine trees. Then it was a short walk through immature pines. After a few minutes of finding our way around the sticks and limbs on the ground, we got to GZ where accurate coordinates and the decorated pine tree led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks DDTs for keeping this tradition going and thanks for the 2020 version. It earns a favourite from us,

Very pleasant sunny day today with light breeze. Decided to use the beaches (and their caches) for the daily walk. Car Park pretty busy but as soon as started the track walk saw no one else for the complete walk.
Sandy under foot but steady walk to the area close to the cache. Took to the bush and spotted the likely tree from 30 metres away because had plumped for the right direction. As usual a well stocked good sized cache. Dropped off TB and made the return trip to the car.
TFTC great that you continued the series.

Thanks again for a well decorated cache.

Just catching up with my old logs before I forget all about it. I wanted to get out of the house after a big day yesterday and blow the cobwebs out and this cache was perfect for this, knowing the area well from past visits it would also be good for my recovery.

I parked on centre road and made my way following my phone GPS for about half the walk when all of a sudden then i look at by phone the GPS has stopped working and all I have a is a map with me showing as in the wrong place. So using the satellite view i lined up fences and cleared paths to work out where I was and how I could get to the cache, it took me a bit longer than normal but I got there in the end and what do you know i get to GZ and the GPS starts working again, my comment was something along the lines of 'a bit late m8' any i always like this caches and look forward to finding them every year so thanks for this one too.

If you need some more of what you use for these caches I have a large bag of them you can have in the shed.

Thanks for continuing this tradition DDT's.
The GeoGSP and I headed out today, Boxing Day, for an afternoon walk and decided we would make this one our destination. Apart from one horse float and a few cars in the car park, it was a lovely peaceful walk on the way to GZ.
The tree was spotted and we admired the decorations and retrieved the cache and signed the log.
All the best for the festive season. A favourite from me for continuing this tradition.

Merry Christmas! We needed a stretch of the legs this afternoon and what better than to find a themed cache like this on such a festive day! An enjoyable walk and an excellent addition to the series. TFTC!

We always look forward to caching amongst the fir trees. The rain wasn't going to stop us so we donned the wet weather gear and out we went. We realised we weren't going to get the FTF when we saw mr_johna in the distance. We stopped for a quick chat before we retrieved the good sized, well stocked cache. Thanks for keeping these Christmas caches alive - we look forward to them each year. TFTC

I had just got home, when at 15:57 a ding went off. I was all set ready to put my feet up but, despite the rain, i decided to race off to find this cache, having found most of the others.
Traffic was pretty thick and the light rain was intensifying to an outright downpour. It started to ease as i pulled up into the (empty) parking area. But i realised my nice fluro waterproof jacket was In the other car. Oh well. I walked to the cache in the light rain, which stopped more or less when i arrived at gz. Finding the hide, i also found an empty log. So that implies it was an *{FTF}* at 16:46. Just as i signed the log it started to rain again so i quickly returned the log to the cache and the cache to the hide. As i walked out of the trees, the rain stopped again. I saw two walkers in the distance. As i walked further away i looked to see the two people looking at phones etc. I came back and said hello because i recognised them as DnA! who i had met one time before in the dark. A quick chat and i left them to it. Only a light drizzle for about 30 seconds on the way back to the car.
TFTC DDTs and thank you so much for placing these caches for our collective enjoyment.
