Im working my way round the Athenree area, seeing how many GCs I am able to find before the rain comes (though so far so good). As I arrived at the GZ I met up with Willbuild and had a quick chat, so that was a nice bonus. As always, TFTC, and two more on the list for today, all going well.
This took a bit of hunting around for, but we eventually got our hands on it. Then it took a bit of maneuvering to extract it. Beautiful spot. Tftc
Staying at the local hot pools campground for the night. Easy find with miniAG. TFTC

Meet the cache owner on the way to the cache site so the pressure was on to find it. Mr B persevered and finally had it in hand. Such a lovely spot for caching with an amazing view. A fave point from us for this cache and all the others weve enjoyed today!
You are right,it is a beautiful spot. The cache was spotted quite quickly but with my big fingers the extrication took a little while.Thankyou willbuild
Met the CO as we walked down. Buzzybb found after a short search. Glad to turn it to a . Nice to meet willbuild.

Pop over here for the day at the beachVery hot out in the sunGreat we hidethanks
Great day for visiting from Tauranga for a GC trip. Lovely holiday vibe around here with all the families enjoying themselves. TFTC
I was out for a mornings walk with FriwiNZ although he had already found it, but couldn't remember where it was so it was like finding it all over again. Great watching the sunrise this morning. TFTC
After having to admit defeat at the previous cache, this was a nice quick find at the end of a hot day of caching. Nice seat to sit on while filling out the log.
Quick find after fighting all day at unfounded caches, between muggles guarding the area and the hot sun bearing down on us. Great to discover some of WillBuilds caches and log a few. tftc!
After a nice day with family and eating too much we all went for a walk around Athenree and figured lets try and get a cache. With a big group and muggles for Africa I wondered how we would go.At GZ we started looking, but the GPS jumped about for a while but finally settled down. We had already checked the location once, but obviously not well enough as my 8 year old niece found it (go girl). Cache log is full, but others have put in an off cut of paper in there for a temporary solution.
Nice walk along the water edge from Hot pools. Original log full so added new sheet. Nice spot thank you, view is lovely
As anticipated. Tftc.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)… Usually, Sundays are spent preparing for the work week or doing chores. We decided to be kind to ourselves and made plans to go caching instead…
As soon as we arrived here, we thought this would be the perfect spot for watching sunrises… A quick find - hidden as we anticipated. Thanks willbuild and TFTC.

A plan was made with Gorby, tramyard and rustynz for an overnight road trip to Waikato/BOP. We targeted Karangahake Gorge, Waihi, Katikati and Mount Maunganui/Tauranga.
We had packed up the wet tents after a heavy morning rain, had breakfast, and were heading out to Katikati, but we had to stop for one cache before we left. As we started our search the CO came down to watch us. We searched in all the spots, multiple times by different people all under the amusing eye of the CO. Eventually I approached at a different angle and had the cache in hand. Very sneaky.

Sunday, Our last day around this area and we have packed up the tents while they were wet. Not raining now, but something I have to attend to when I get home. This our first cache for the morning and who knew the C.O lived so close? Well he did, he saw us arriving and wandered down to meet us. Then there was a LOT of giggles and sniggering from our C.O he was having a great time at our expense, because we just could not find the cache! He said Danielle was hot but Sharon was cold (or vice-versa) - how rude...lol. But eventually we found the cache, even though we all checked 'that' spot several times.
Nice to sign this off, and a lovely spot to walk down to with a cup of tea in the mornings! Thanks willbuild.

With aiden29, tramyard and gorby on a weekend of caching fun
We had stayed the night at the nearby camping ground, woke up to the sound of rain bouncing off the sides of the tent. Luckily it eventually stopped, but now have a wet tent to dry out when we get home.
This took a little while for us to locate, with the added pressure of the CO seeing us struggle just a little to find it.
Eventually after what felt like ages, and hot n cold, we were at last signing the log.
Lovely to see you again willbuild, thanks for the hide and the adventure.
First find for the day.
Yesterday stats: 26,612 steps, 34 floors, 18.22 km
(wonder what today's will be?)

As it was middle of the afternoon no sunrise was seen but it was a lovely place to sit for awhile. I looked in all the possible places before a last sweep produced a result. Pleased I made my way back to the car. Thank you for the placement.
Beautiful spot, even when the tide was out. My partner is having a ball finding the caches, tftc
Back for another round and instead of looking in the Flatbush this time I was smart and looked under the seat and I found it so Allgood thanks
At start of our coromandel trip, had planned moving on today, but with the current weather decided to hunker down and figured good opportunity to grab a cache between downpours

Last cache in Athenree for the day, and a really nice spot to wrap proceedings up! Made the short walk over to GZ, where I originally started searching in all the wrong places. I looked at the CO's name and then quickly relocated my search as I had found a couple of his last night, and this one was surely no different, right?! Sure enough, I quickly spotted the cache and signed myself in, taking in the great views across to Whale Bay and beyond Once again, TFTC willbuild!
Whilst my family was busy going to a nearby car show (BORING!!!), I decided this would be a good excuse to be dropped off and grab some caches around the Athenree area I've been to the hot pools here before, and even kayaked over from Whale Bay on the other side of the estuary, but never was involved in caching at the time. Thanks to the CO's for bringing me to some great locations!

On the way home from over the other side Could have walked across as the tide was well out
Nice and quiet at GZ allowed a rest on the grass while I signed the log. Walking back to the car I did look to see if anyone was home TFTC

Pretty sure we were in the right spot. 2 sets of eyes looking for this one, but no luck
Just had a walk out with a coffee and all good, No moon or stars. No Problems with the cache.
Back with my brother for a holiday, after living in Scotland for a number of years. Dropping off my travel bug for visit to the sea side in New Zealand
We were heading back to Auckland but saw the sign to Athenree and decided to detour briefly to have a look.
After exploring a bit we headed to this cache and were pleased to see there was no one around so we were able to make a quick find.
A nice peaceful place, we will be back again to explore further and look for the other nearby caches.

Nice relaxing place to come to. Tide was low this afternoon and a number of people were crossing the estuary. I might have been spotted by some people admiring the view from their deck, hopefully the cache is safe. TFTC
Down this way today to find some newish caches in this area...plus some in Katikati.
Nice easy find for me as TWS has one in Stillwater I found recently.
Easy to access.
After this cache I caught up with the CO for a chat!
Thanks.

This was a real devil to extract from its hiding place, made me swear at one point as it evaded me. TFTC
Last time I was here I was pretty certain where the cache was but there were also two muggles exactly at GZ who were fairly settled. Today, GZ was clear and the find was made in seconds. TFTC.
