Logs
Apologies for not getting out to this one sooner. The area was very clean and tidy so we didn't need to do any CITO duties thankfully. It must have just been an unfortunate day when the last finder visited. However, the log was a little damp so we replaced it, and also upgraded the cache to a much more watertight container
With snow forecast this weekend and the ensuing Antarctic blast we doubt we'll be able to safely get to this cache within the next couple of weeks. We'll try our best though! The cache is still there and is able to be found so we'll enable it - we just wanted to ensure any rubbish was cleared since the last find in May and to replace the logbook. Will make it a priority once the roads become safe...
Did not want to touch this spot, so much toilet paper Suggest cache could be moved...
Today we headed out to Strathgordon as Geohusband was keen to see the dam. I was keen to go caching. We combined both and I found quite a few caches but had quite a few dnf too.Great day out.Great sculpture here TFTC . dropped TB
On the way to visit the Gordon River dams and hydro power station, I wanted to stop and visit this "Bitumen Bones" display (and collect the cache). From the description I was expecting some form of 'Wombat Skelton' display. The actual display turned out to quite "minimalistic" and far less impressive than I expected.
As we drive along this road, we keep saying wow. I'm pretty sure we heard geodog in the back seat say wow at one point too. (he's a service dog with a national parks pass, so he was allowed to enjoy the spectacle, too). Anyway, at this wow spot, we found the cache in good condition. Tftc
TFTC. Cache and contents are in excellent condition. Heading to Strathgordon for the week for work. So thought Id grab a few caches on the way and this was one of them.
Over 2 days, I found 19 caches, DNF'd one, placed one, would not go for a swim to find one, Beta tested 3 others and attended an event at Adamsfield. In all, most caches were in fair condition - some of the logs were a little damp but could still easily sign them. Most of the coords were a little out but I put that down to my old GPSr. There were some interesting containers, very interesting places and a varied access to get to them.I met a few muggles that had heard of caching, a couple that have done it and another couple that found one accidentally. Some great views were found and a couple of good camping spots as well, so I'll be back when I have some more time. When I do come back, hopefully the water level in the lake will be down!A great couple of days and a good turnout to the event made for an excellent weekend away. Thanks to all the COs, Alby for hosting the event and to all that attended. Now to get back to Bushy Park with about 1/8 tank of fuel...
Gorgeous view. Mr Parko found after a short hunt. Logbook a little damp but still able to add our names. Thanks for the cache The Hancock Clan
Today we headed off to find caches west of Maydena and this was one we foiund. An interesting sculpture at GZ. The mountainous rocky outcrops are incredible. The container had water inside which we tipped out, luckily the log book was dry. A great spot for a cache. Thanks for the link to the poem but what a mournful poem, poor wombat. The sculpture should have been of a wombat. TFTC
Stopped to find the cache, then stayed to have lunch here with the great mountain views

Beautiful spot! The logbook is slightly damp and container has a little water in there. No reception but you can still use the navigation to roughly find the area.
Thank you
Thank you
Traveling around Tassie, taking in the stunning scenery which was stunning here as well.
This spot was a bit different with a sculpture in the middle of seemingly nowhere. Related to the crow wings but couldn’t relate to the wombat
Cache was found in ok condition, logged and we continued on our discovery tour

Nice artwork and there just had to be a cache here - yup. Turned on GPS and there it was, easy find and dropped a well travelled Swiss Geocoin.
Day 2 - A trip down to Lakes Gordon and Pedder and a first look at the South Western corner. Once again I had 'all' the ECs and Virtuals loaded and a picnic lunch for a full day out. Saw a dead snake on the road and plenty of awesome scenery, especially the rock formations. Long day out, well worth the trip.
We had a weeks holiday booked in Tasmania as a way of celebrating mrs capperz's 60th birthday. What can I say but WOW. What an awesome state and was everything we'd seen and heard about this gem of a place. My main PQ had only Earthcaches and Virtuals and aside from an old cache for my missing month stats I only turned the GPS on when we were stopping somewhere anyway, what a great way to tour a place. Managed one complete set of Ad Labs at the airport, and started another 6 adventures with no intention to complete. Over 50 'real' caches were completed and left behind a couple of trackables to continue their journeys.
I will upload the associated pictures and answers over the next few days or so, need to start to make a dent in my finds backlog.
Oh, and thanks to all COs for their hides, much appreciated for this New Zealander.

In Adamsfield at an event put together by the ever helpful Alby so of course we needed to visit as many nearby caches we could find in the time we had.
So many places along this road with amazing views, and of course our teenager couldn't resist sitting in the obvious spot for a picture. TFTC

This one gave us change to have a look at this 'thing' and budgie made a good find on this one.
This week it was either going to be a trip out to Mount Brown or Strathgordon, the weather looked better out West so after picking up Goose we drove round and collected a Budgie and with everything loaded in the 4WD we were off out for a long day collecting caches that have been put out since our last visit to the area, it was a bit under a 2 hour drive to the first cache of the day and as a bonus the rain stopped.
Thanks for the cache.

A day out with a Rat and a Goose looking for caches in the Strathgordon area.
As I used to live out this way, it was interesting to visit my old stomping grounds, but so much has changed but other things havent!
Found this cache, but it was slightly spoiled by a used disposal nappy that had been thrown nearby. It's still there as we had nothing to transport it back to a rubbish bin

A long daytrip out to Strathgordon with stainless steel rat and budgietas searching for new caches placed since out last visit. We found all but one that was on the list.
This was an interesting stop. Again after more photos, we looked for the cache wandering up and down the edge with an erratic signal.
Budgie has been reminiscing about his childhood out here, but seriously I can't believe he left his nappy here! At least he found the cache
Thanks The Hancock Clan

We have been wanting to come out this way for awhile as we wanted the do some maintenance on 2 of our caches. We were grandchildren free for most of the day and no appointments so we decided to do our maintenance run and do a few caches that have appeared since our last visit!
We saw this on our way out and decided to stop on the way back out. A bit of rubbish around the area (we tried to clean the area up) and lots of rocks. Eventually spotted the right rock once we cleared some rubbish.
A campervan came just as we were putting the cache away, we actually heard it first as it struggled up the gravel road off the bitumen. They immediately climbed the “koala” structure.

Happy to find this one on our way back after downloading once we had coverage. Great structure. Tftc
I love this artwork and our group took full advantage of the photo opportunity with it. I was trying to be inconspicuous in finding this cache as the rest of my group aren’t aware I’m a cacher, as yet anyway
Found while visiting from Canberra. I only had the coords to work with but found it fairly quickly. TFTC

Easy find, but very glad having the cache here. Roadkill is my research topic, so anything related to it is very exciting! Thus; a favourite! Thanks!
This appeared just days after we were last in the area. Finally back here camping and hiking for a few days. Easy enough find one the GPS settled. Thanks The Hancock Clan
A few days out Strathgordon way to grab a few caches and have a fish.
This was a easy ldriveby on a warm day.
Thanks for the cache The Hancock Clan. Im glad I know what this structure is now... I thought it represented a fat wombat LOL

First cache I have ever found while having a poem recited to me! Located and signed the cache by the end of the recital. A very interesting art piece and poem. TFTC.
I visited this interesting sculpture last summer on my way to the Gordon Dam, today I stopped here to find a cache. Pretty quiet day out this way so finding the cache was quick and easy.

Hello The Hancock Clan thank you for the cache
This morning EeePees and I went out to Adams Fall to replace my cache that went for a trip over the falls.
After getting back onto Gordon River Road we turned right to find your cache.
I was happy that EeePees made a quick find as the weather was not pleasant and I was not prepared for the rain.
When you have great company it makes it a fantastic day.

Hi The Hancock Clan, thanks for the cache, this is a speccy place to stop, although the weather had closed in a bit this arvo.
Was out and about with AlbyDangles today, mainly for him to do a bit of maintenance on his Adams Falls cache - a fantastic day despite the non-compliant weather.
A nice quick find, luckily due to the increasing precipitation, so once replaced, we bolted back to the car.
Thanks for the adventure, and the reason to stop here, the nearby peaks are quite awesome.
Cheers, EPs.

Found it! TFTC lovely spot. Shame there was some rubbish left nearby but we took it with us. Plastic chip packets don’t belong in such a beautiful place!
On the way home to the north west after three nights at Strathgordon and two at National Park, doing our bit for the economy with a winter sojourn during various lockdown procedures.
Very conveniently placed hide, which we retrieved and rehid without incident. Getting to appreciate the merits of this new sculptural installation is a bonus. All in good useable nick here. Glad we have our cleaning and drying kit with us today to make handling these cahes in adverse conditions much easier. Thanks to The Hancock Clan for this one.

On our way to Strathgordon and stopped to get this cache. It was pouring rain, typical south west weather. Took a few minutes to find but found it in the end. Got very wet. Woohoo our 2000th cache. TFTC
Nice spot, Mountain top popped out of the clouds while I was looking. Thank you.
While on our way to Lake pedlar we stopped here to take in the view and of course find a cache along the way. There were no muggles when we arrived, so the race was on to find it. The cache was soon in hand then 5 cars arrived, phew just in time. Great location and view with a cache to top it off. Thanks
Relatively easy find on our trip to Gordon Dam (muggles made it tricky). Majestic spot and worth stopping for a photo. TFTC
Travelling for 2 weeks and sightseeing and caching along the way. Stayed at the wilderness lodge last night. What a magnificent area.
What a beautiful poem written about the wombat, hate seeing the roadside animals as we travel

We are very excited to log this as a FTF. We have been watching this cache since it was published, presuming any day someone would retrieve it as a FTF. So we were very pleased to see it still had not been found when we saw another new one in the area was published. Therefore we decided to change our plans for the day and have a lovely drive and day out in this fantastic and beautiful part of Tasmania. Thank you for placing it TheHancock Clan. It receives a favourite point from us.
