Next stop was this familar lookout where I have found the old cache with the family 13 years ago!Good to have a new one in such a cool spot and much nicer placed than the old one too. The kids would have been able to find it back in the day, then again no swapsies.... can't have it all. The afternoon: Having to go back to Corin Resourt to pick up some items we had left behind a few weeks back, I took the opportunity to do some more caching at the end of Corin Road, that I had eyed off ever since we moved back here. We were last here with the small kids in Oct 2011 doing some caches closer to the road but leaving the walk down to the Core be. Lots of new caches at the dam since then and the old caches at the bottom still waiting. Two wonderful walks, one was an hour, 2km, to the Crown and Trig and another down to the bottom and then up to Basil for another good hour and 3km (and some higher heart rates indeed) Thank you Tankengine for putting the cache out and maintaining it and in doing so contributing to this awesome hobby of ours.
Last weekend, being my first in Canberra after moving here that week, I went out to visit Corin Dam. Id planned to get a few geocaches, but when I got here I found out that I planned caches for Cotter Dam, and I was in the wrong place!Instead, I had laid on the park bench for an hour, enjoying listening to the wind in the trees and watching the trees dance to the music. Imagine my chagrin when I found this geocache today. Had I only looked, Id have spotted it!!!Anyway, when I returned to my car, I talked to the young couple, who looked like climbers, who had parked next to me. I told them about geocaching and they seemed very keen!* * * * * * *Having started the day with a breakfast event to meet local geocachers, I headed back towards Corin Dam to collect a string of unloved geocaches. I had visited Corin Dam last weekend, planning to pick up a few geocaches, but had not got the map thing happening properly. I was more diligent in making sure that I knew which dam was which this weekend! Knowing that there would be no reception, I had a list planned. This was my first big day of geocaching since relocating to Canberra from Melbourne last week. I'm looking forward to a lot more of these! Thanks for the cache, Tankengine
The last cache of a long day.We started the day with the one key objective - reaching "Stockyard Falls" (https://coord.info/GC6JBAV). We were unable to make it last time due to deep, fast flowing creek and the slippery vegetation/moss/rock/logs.Arriving at Corin dam we started the long steep ascent up Stockyard spur. We spurred each other along with comments like, "why are we doing this?" and "this used to be easier before all the steps were put in."Fortunately, it was not long before we picked up "Where in the World is Basil?" This gave us time to bring down the heart rates and slow the breathing. Then, off we marched to collect the aptly named "Very Steep Trail for Next 2km." We made good time, taking about one hour. Then it was time to head off and find "Can't see the wood for the trees?" and admire the towering Mountain Ash. This was a more difficult journey than last time. After all the rain the regrowth, while very pretty, was high and thick. Fortunately, a quick find and a few photos of the beautiful trees.Reading past logs about "Stockyard Falls," we decide to cross further upstream. After making an easy creek crossing, we ended up battling though super dense vegetation on a very steep slope. It took as 40 minutes to go about 150 metres. However, the reward of finally getting the cache quickly brought back the smiles. While we had lunch, we admired the great views from the top of the rock outcrop. We went back a much easier route (S 35 31.815 E 148 48.525), which was spotted as we battled the steep slope and vegetation on the way in.Our next target was "Stockyard Spur." Once again, we pushed through the regrowth to rejoin the track and had an easy walk along the track. When perpendicular the cache we headed down to find it. We came prepared with a replacement container and log as the it had been reported as 'needs maintenance.' Fortunately, it was not required as everything was in excellent order - see photos. Then we turned round and headed back to the car to pick up the final cache near the dam.A great day comfortably completed in daylight.
After a wander up Stockyard Spur grabbed this and the other nearby TE cache. Lovely views and no fog that was around in Canberra. TFTC.
Mercifully easy cache this one. Unlike the dam wall cache, which I will not go for today.
So, I’ve finally remembered to log this one, having spotted it in early November, only to not have a pen handy. I trekked back out a couple of weeks ago to sign the log, and (not wanting to rush these things) only remembered that I’d not logged the find here until tonight
A great little spot, which was really peaceful with no one else around on either occasion. TFTC!!

Found with Trifolia Argentea on their last day here. We had the idea of making a shot at "Corin's Core" and taking a walk by the lake - but building works made the latter impossible, and heavy rain made the former inadvisable! So, instead, we got a couple of caches near the dam and then headed back via a picnic (in a dry spell) at Gibraltar Falls.
Thank you for the cache!
Thank you for the cache!
We had planned to attempt Corrin's Core with Ilmari_the_Red, but had not checked the mountain forecast. It was raining and not the best weather. So we just grabbed a couple of caches, including this easy find before stopping at Gibraltar Falls instead. TFTC!
Found at 11.50am. We decided to have a day exploring the hills. A long drive in but great views from gz. A misty rainy day. Some interesting walks start from here. I will keep that in mind for future.

The car park is packed today. Great to see! TFTC TE. I hope the attached photograph is sufficient for us to log a find today.
Usually I'm too exhausted to stop for these caches but today was an easy day and this was one on the radar. Bimberi was getting a nice sprinkling of snow and there was a bit visible on Tidbinbilla mountain as well. A quick find. Tftc
Thanks TE for this hide and for the great views.
Did this as part of my trip out to Priors Hut.
Container and log in good order

After finding the three caches along the ridge just above and east of here I moved the car to a closer parking space and did the short walk up to the crowsnest for a look. Great views today over a wonderfully full dam.
The cache was found without issue in an obvious spot; thanks, Tankengine.

C-chord and I planned an afternoon of geocaching at Corin Dam. Imagine our disappointment when we couldn’t get phone reception, had no GPS, nor had we downloaded offline maps. So we decided taking pics and geosenses was the best we could do. After a few muggles left the scenic vista C-chord found it, but doh, no pen, GPS or offline coords. I hope the pic attached suffices. TFTC we will be back better prepared next time and did not do any abseiling or fishing.
Stepped up into the "Crows nest". Thought, hmmmm, where could the cache be, found in 1.5 secs. Obvious. Nice to see Corin dam full and overflowing still.
Found during last hike but the found log didn'tcome through. Thanks for bringing us out here. TFTC.
While in the area, I came down here to find the cache. Remember looking for a previous cache here, but a little higher up the hill. This cache was quickly and easily found. Good to see the dam full at last.
Thanks,
Thanks,
Been here a few times before , but not for awhile.
Drizzly and 11 degrees , who would believe it in February.
Cache found and signed .
Got some nice photos.
Many thanks to Tankengine.

First time to here since the fires. Recovering well. Cache easily found. Views admired, then wandered over to check out the water flowing down the spillway. TFTC.

This was an unexpected pleasure finding this cache today. We had seen it come out, but were busy doing other things with the CO.
But after eating lunch and seeing it was still available we thought why not head out. So we drove out on a lovely drive and parked at the bottom carpark across the road.
What made this find even better was running into StarsAligned and Contesta there. We soon had all our names on the log and looked out at the views and discussed our adventures last night together and how great the dam was looking full of water now. Tftc Tankengine!!!

[FTF] Great to find this cache with 'Aquilus1', 'dty73' and 'contesta’. A fun coincidence after we all had spent the previous evening till late on the amazing night cache "The Eternal Trail of Darkness".
I had no intentions of caching today after a late night but was up for a restful scenic drive to a location that we love and know so well. As it turned out we ended up taking a short walk and climb up and around Corin Dam afterwards.
This GZ location provides for gorgeous views and with today’s beautiful sunshine ️ it was a picture. Good to see the dam full to the brim and overflowing. We stayed chatting in the crow's nest for quite a while before heading off each to do our own thing.
Worth a favourite point for the cache location. TFTC Tankengine.

[FTF] with StarsAlign, Aquilus1, and dty73 Was planning a lazy day of ALs when I saw this one come out. Had a quick bite to eat before heading out as I then planned to clean out all caches around Corin Dam while I was there. Didn’t really think I’d make a FTF but was pleasantly surprised to meet the CO and others there so was able to sign the log.
Great spot with amazing views, dam currently overflowing well and the regrowth post fires really getting a boost with all the rain. Wonderful to see.
Thanks Tankengine for another great spot.
