Logs
We have travelled from Sydneys Northern Beaches to Lithgow for a short (four day) caching holiday, staying for three nights in a park cabin at the Lithgow Tourist & Van Park. Planning on exploring areas around Hartley, Bowenfels, Marrangaroo, Lithgow, Clarence, Newnes Junction, and Dargan, with a pre-booked visit to the Zig Zag Railway on Saturday morning, and a visit to the Glow Worm Tunnel at Newnes on Sunday.Hoping to collect some previously solved Mystery/Puzzle caches, a SideTracked MultiCache, and some of the many Traditional & Multi caches that have appeared since our last visit to the area in 2015. Will be stopping at Mount Victoria and Blackheath, on Mondays return journey to Sydney, for some more previously solved Mystery/Puzzle caches and a five stage Adventure Lab, and maybe an EarthCache. Photos will be uploaded to logs on our return to home base.Today (day 4) we are on the journey homeward, but stopped off for some caches along the way. After collecting the final GZ cache for a MultiCache we grabbed some Traditionals on a drive out to Mount York, then a few more caches around Mount Victoria, before heading to Blackheath for a five stage Adventure Lab and a visit to the Victory Theatre Antique Centre. After grabbing a bite for lunch we continued homeward, with one final cache stop at Bulls Camp (between Woodford & Linden) to avenge a previous DNF, where the cache had subsequently been confirmed as missing & replaced. This was the 1st of 15 finds for the day (day 4), and 32nd find of the holiday. We had completed this MultiCache on our first day of the holiday (27-09-2024), with an enjoyable stroll around historic Hartley village to collect all of the required information, but final GZ ended up being too far away and in the wrong direction for us at that time. So it was left for today, arriving at final GZ and making a nice quick find on arrival. TNLNSL, and then replaced as found. TFTC Joshwa27.Find #7109
After visiting the village and collecting the information we decided to go off and collect the prize. Quick find and afterb signing the log replaced as found. GAP YEAR BIG LAP - PART 2: THE ROAD TRIP - Day 19 On our way from Blue Mountains to Canberra today, we made a stop here after seeing a sign & were surprised at how much of interest there is in this little historic town. Looked around some historic buildings and figured out the numbers for the final co-ordinates without too much trouble then had a look at the quirky 2nd hand shop/garage & the artwork in the NPWS office. We bought a mini painting of a lyrebird as a NSW souvenir to remember all of our lyrebird experiences of the last week around Barrington Tops & Blue Mountains. Google maps said it would be 22km to the final but we managed to get there in 6! J dropped me off & continued on to turn around with the camper as parking not too good at gz but managed a quick find so the mission was a success! Great idea for a multi to get visitors to wander around the site.#3820 @ 1210hTFTC Joshwa27
#13196 16:00What a cute little town, with such an interesting history of its glory days as a stop over point for coaches on the way from Sydney to Bathurst; a journey of three days! With a mystery and three multi caches we spent quite a bit of time here visiting the waypoints, reading the informative information panels scattered over the area and browse through the fantastic antiques shop.Hartley, a town I would never have visited if not for geocaching and your caches Joshwa27! Have a FP!
A nice straightforward multi with interesting waypoints. The drive to GZ was quite scenic and along nice quite roads. Great. TFTC Joshwa27
I turned up to these geocaches early one Saturday morning, quite a long while ago. It could have even been early this year. After countless times driving past this part of Hartley, it was really good to slow down and have an excuse to learn more about this part of the world. Then on Saturday just past, I finally visited the solved co-ordinates to claim the find many months later. Thanks for a great multi. TFTC.
This has been solved for ages, so devided to detour to find it on the way to Lithgow. Signed log and returned as found. TFTC
Found OCW jennyfromthefarm today. TFTC
Found a while back, just catching up on logs

Thanks for the explorarion around Hartley. The combination of the three multis took us on a lovely tour. Awarding a fav point for the lovely experience.
Enjoyed exploring Hartley and doing this and other multis. Then is absolutely chucked it down on us so came back to retrieve the final today. Hartley was a highlight. Final cache location ok and easy find. Look out for snails!!
Had some free time on a sunny afternoon and thought it would be best to tackle some local caches. What a beautiful view at the final location! Log was a bit wet, tried our best to dry out. TFTC
OCW Irondale today and we decided on Hartley as we have not extensively cached here before.
I have never been in here to the courthouse so it was nice to walk around. I will have to come back for a tour of the courthouse when it’s open. TFTC

After an interesting walk around the village to collect the necessary information we were soon heading off to GZ. At GZ there are fantastic views. Our search was was interrupted by the owner of the property near where the cache was hidden as he was curious as to what we were doing. After an explanation we were soon on our way. TFTC

Another father/son afternoon of caching 'til we run out of light'.... Our main aim was Mount York, but a track closure gave us extra time so we headed down the pass again into Hartley, grabbing another 5 finds before it was too dark (and cold).
The multi cluster here has often caught my eye, initially I was keen to have a crack at more than one, but soon realised we had limited time today. We got all the numbers, with a bit of concern at WP3 perhaps being changed (it hadn't). Samuel plotted the coordinates into our GPSr - it certainly didn't look very 'roadside', and in fading light we weren't going to go off without some confirmation, so sent out a PAF message for this, which we got quite quickly, and in time to divert over to grab this cache before we headed back for the night. It turns out this lane has been extended fairly recently, so our GPSr and car GPS weren't aware..... TFTC!

Quick diversion on the way home to pick up what I worked on first this morning. TFTC
Saw the SPOR but no cache. Oldmorty found it about 2 meters away and replaced. Wind must be strong in these hills. TFTC
Walked around Little Hartley Village last Tuesday morning, collecting the required information for the CO's three multis. Today with frazeydaze I went in search of the hides.
I started the morning with this cache, orientating myself and learning a little about the history of the area. An enjoyable start to the morning with no one else around. More spectacular views.

#5857- I had a wonderful wander around the village with a personalised history of the church, which I didn't even know was there. The church goers were getting ready for their monthly service and wanted to tell me all the history. Such a beautiful little church with stained glass windows. The little village looked especially stunning with the autumn colours everywhere.
To the Cache, I was beginning to think that I'd made a blunder, as despite having a probable distance, it seemed so far out of the way. But as I arrived I saw the cache out in the open. What a pretty spot. Thanks for bringing me here. I rehid in same spot but more carefully. Another favourite. Will come back another day for the last multi. Cheers

I collected the information on this one first but GZ looked wrong as the new road was missing from Google Maps.
After getting the other Multi information and find I was more confident and heading off blindly or an easy find.
A lovely walk around the old town.
