After attending the nearby CITO event at Lake George, I went for a long country drive for another four hours to enjoy more geocaching adventures.I appreciated the power trail as I headed south back to Canberra I was usually able to find somewhere to *mostly* pull off the road safely Thanks for the cache, ALL7!
Catching up on some late logs when attending the Geobash Mega in Canberra. Took the opportunity to explore the many sights in and around Canberra and grabbed this one along the way.Chasing caches with Omegaman1971 today. Always great catching up friends, with lots of laughs and fun. We grabbed this one, while out today. Thanks ALL7 for placing the cache and doing the maintenance needed, so we can find this cache.
Reperio 14:41Day 5 of our Capital GeoBash mega event trip to Canberra with Miss Vitruvius, and today it was time to head home, but not before finding plenty of caches. We decided to line up the caches around the Sutton area, which had plenty of high DT caches, and plenty of easier ones as well. This one was one of the nicer easier drive by finds today.Gratias ALL7As a well spent day brings happy sleep, a well spent life brings happy death - LDV

Many thanks to all the COs who hid the caches we found today for ensuring this was a great caching day while we were attending the MEGA.Today we found a number of caches with team WA6 as we could contribute a ladder and they could contribute a climber and we could help each other with our different skills and equipment. Cheers and happy caching!
Today is the first of a couple of visits to the Sutton area and the surrounding countryside. We cached as Team JAR and even met up with WA6 along the way and combined our TOTTs and enthusiasm to spot the caches - especially the pole ones. Thanks to the COs.

Gundaroo staying at the sporting grounds, until we go into Canberra for the MegaWe did more of the American States, Animal Series some challenge caches & a variety of others were included in our trip today. This was a great way to visit the area,Thanks ALL7 for hiding this cache.
It was 7:30pm the night before New Years Eve. Chatting to injuryman I mentioned how I was 34 cache finds short of my biggest year ever. I didn't have much motivation to beat this statistic and get across the line, but thankfully injuryman did! He said "Let's go night caching, I'll be at your house in 30 minutes".
So, that's what we did! I quickly searched for the closest & easiest 30+ caches to grab, but of course there weren't many as I have done most of them! We ended up starting in Sutton, grabbing the string of caches I had vowed never to find because of where they were placed, but thankfully doing them late at night before the night that everyone else stays up late was perfect. The very busy road was quiet for once, and we only saw about 6 cars go past, it was nerve wrecking every time they did though, and almost all of them stopped to check why we were half parked on the road with our hazards, but I'm glad to not have to look at those unfound caches on my map again after driving past them usually at least once a week!
We then did the full length of "Yass River Road". Here we didn't see a single car for several hours! Lots of potholes and a few other little things to navigate through / around, but not too bad. The grass was OVER head high the whole time though, and we clocked up a few DNF's.
Once we had popped out the other side to Murrumbateman, we headed to Dog Trap Road just for a few more caches to get the number we were looking for. A string of DSD Letterbox caches just outside town did the trick here, with a couple trads and even a Challenge thrown in! These caches were excellent, and our favourite of the night. Quiet roads, larger sized containers, well placed. Appreciate that!
Our last cache find was at 1am on the 31st. So yes, our finds for tonight were spread over two dates (30th / 31st)! Eventually got home and in bed by 2am after that! Phew...!
Thanks injuryman for giving me company to surpass my "Best caching year" and thanks to InnocentApple, ALL7 and DSD for hiding park and grabs, which do come in handy sometimes even if they aren't my favourite thing to do anymore! We also got one Sui cache, and a Sui hide that was disguised as a DSD cache which had us confused for ages as we were looking for a DSD hide instead, so thanks to him too

Out and about for a few caches with GreyHams on a cold and windy day. We only had a limited timeframe and the weather put off the idea of walking any of the areas we had in mind. Especially after the overnight heavy rain and wet trails waiting out there... and it was freezing at times so close to a warm car was great!
In the end a trail of caches out around the Gundaroo/Sutton area worked well. Still a bit wet under foot and some good mud and pot holed roads along the way but a good trail and a good choice for the day.
With the recent rain a few of the logs were really wet, signed them as best we could although generally most were dry and in good condition, coords were good and all found without issue.
The bakery at Sutton for a nice hot pie was yummy and warming, still very busy for the later time of the day and pleased to see they had eclairs left, caching fuel at its finest!
Thanks for your cache!

Aquilus1 & I originally planned a walk around Mt Ainslie to pick up a bunch of newer hides, but the weather wasn't the most pleasant, so we decided to do a little loop up to Gundaroo and back through Sutton collecting a power trail or two.
Most hides in decent condition, some mushy....replaced a missing container for the CO as well.
Was amazed at how busy the bakery at Sutton was!

After the busy (and wet) summer had finished, The Rats floated the idea of a trip to the area around Canberra and Yass with Steeba and myself. We compared diaries, and had a two day mid-week window where we could make things happen, in the week wedged between Easter and ANZAC Day.
The weather was on our side for the first time in I forget how long, and we were able to make the most of our time opportunity.
A lot of excellent caches were found, and some fantastic terrain caches too. A few power trails, some crafty hides, some hard hides, and even some climbs that I could not do... even with our ladder!
Thank you to all of the cache owners for placing their hides. This boiler plate log does not reflect the quality of the hides. Most importantly thanks as always to my two great caching mates for their company!
Cheers

The Rats, Hoojar and myself teamed up for an assault in and around the Yass area for a couple of days- a most enjoyable caching trip with my mates. Plenty of power trail type finds but a lot of great variety here and there, particularly around Yass itself. We started off on Wednesday night and finished up Friday afternoon. TFTC!
The Gong Gangsters (steeba, Hoojar and The Rats) took advantage of an extended Easter / Anzac break to head out for another caching juggernaut through the Southern Highlands and Yass regions. Blessed with beautiful weather we targeted a few powertrails and high D/T rated caches.
After 2 full days we'd collected a plethora of finds, made some new friends, laughed alot, pushed our bodies beyond the comfortable level and most of all - had a great time with mates. Thanks to all the CO's for your caches and those who tagged along.

I've been reluctant to do these as its a busy road and parking for these is a bit tricky and dangerous, but today the road was unusually quiet with few trucks, so I decided to give these a go. Managed to grab them all, so that was good.

It was such a lovely day that Bobl27 and I decided to go for a Sunday afternoon drive in the country now we are allowed over the border! So targeted some easy caches so Bobl27 could rest his back after moving some big arse rocks this morning! Unless otherwise indicated the cache was found easily and in accordance with any hints.

This lock down we have been experiencing has been quite hard, Im sure its been same for every one.
Now that we have been given some freedom, we made plans for today to go out and geocache at Sutton area, we have been puzzling, doing jizsaws and ready for what was a very a wonderful day out, even thou it was a bit cold, a little rain, a bit of wind and sunshine as well.
It was successful day out.
Lots Tree climbs, lots of bending and stretches done today, feeling quite alive been out and about.
Thanks to all the CO for their hides, sorry for the generic logs.

Her mom had warned her. She had been warned time and again, but she had refused to believe her. She had done everything right and she knew she would be rewarded for doing so with the promotion. So when the promotion was given to her main rival, it not only stung, it threw her belief system into disarray. It was her first big lesson in life, but not the last.
It went through such rapid contortions that the little bear was forced to change his hold on it so many times he became confused in the darkness, and could not, for the life of him, tell whether he held the sheep right side up, or upside down. But that point was decided for him a moment later by the animal itself, who, with a sudden twist, jabbed its horns so hard into his lowest ribs that he gave a grunt of anger and disgust.
I've rented a car in Las Vegas and have reserved a hotel in Twentynine Palms which is just north of Joshua Tree. We'll drive from Las Vegas through Mojave National Preserve and possibly do a short hike on our way down. Then spend all day on Monday at Joshua Tree. We can decide the next morning if we want to do more in Joshua Tree or Mojave before we head back.

So I found this cache today. I habe been holding off on doing some of this series as the parking is not the best at some of them. Found this cache as part of my daily finds as the series is close to home.

We came across a string of USA city caches that we had not planned to pick up today, and had not completed on a previous trip. Our plans evolved as we were on a roll finding every cache quickly leaving time to spare to do more.
Quick and easy find at GZ. TFTC InnocentApple.
**Our Day**
With the previous day’s constant rain ️ and continued overnight falls our planned 30+km cycling trip down and around the Orroral Valley swamps had to be postponed.
So, where do you go on a beautiful sunny Winter’s ️ day when the ground is too saturated to hike and too muddy to cycle on dirt tracks?
At the 11th hour, our weekend plans were brought forward combining two adventures into one ️very, very long day driving around the north of the ACT. With Contesta and GeoPartner we headed out early seeing, in the gorgeous morning sunshine ️, Lake George that should be full soon if these rains continue. Many paddocks and fields are partly under water , livestock were standing water, and some backroads had in parts turned into streams.
It was cold and very windy in some areas so we spent much of the day running between GZ and back to the warm car for the best kind of exercise! Fortunately, all GZs were quite straightforward and none required extensive searching. Just lucky today!
Yep, the car is muddy but nothing soap and water can’t fix. Home in the dark tired and exhausted but happy for our productive day in great company. Now for bed - after a shower of course!

This was a big day for me, with the targeted nine Traditionals to be found today I reach two targets. 10 Traditionals found on every day of 366 days per year and 20 total finds on every day as well. I was happy they all these caches today were straight forward finds, except one. I was also happy that the very heavy rain held off till about five minutes after I was finished out on Sutton Road.

This afternoon fitzy_1965 and I took the long way home and picked up some caches to help fill in some of our self-imposed calendar challenges. I’d had a busy day at work so caching helped take things off my mind.
This cool series has certainly helped us with filling our requirements over the passed few weeks. I’ve only been to California but hope to get to the USA to visit Geocaching Head Quarters when world travel is acceptable again.
All the caches we attempted today were found quickly and easily. Thankfully, the road was fairly quiet today making them easy to access.

After a day of domestics in Canberra today, we hit the road towards home taking a detour to grab some caches for our self-imposed challenges. This neat US State series sure has helped us out on a number of occasions in maintaining our run. Today was no exception, and a number more were collected. This was a nice quick find once at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache as found, then headed off to the next one on the list.
Thanks InnocentApple !! I've never been to Minnesota but it's on the list ! One Day !

There were some tough pull offs on this leg of the run as this road is pretty busy. Luckily most caches were found pretty quickly.
Quick find here once again bad pull off area.

#11434 - 10:53:00 AM; Wasn't long out of bed after a late night at work when I spotted a message from sol de lune about the possibility of a caching mission out to Gundaroo and back. Sent off a response in the affirmative and was soon headed on our way. Sdl grabbed a coule of caches I had logged on previous missions as we passed, then we started on the US state series as we headed east and then north. All caches were found pretty quickly, although the coords on one were a little out. Logs were signed LL & Sdl or vice versa as we complted the section along Mulligans Flat Road and then on towards Gundaroo. TFTC InnocentApple
Headed out with LuckyL10n for a few caches along here before work.

Chooo ooo [found] with dty73 on a nice sunny day. Very busy road - not nice for pulling over! Thanks InnocentApple!
Tankengine and I weren’t sure what to do today, so we thought of grabbing these while we can. As with all power trails around here, they are only caches good for the numbers really.
This series had a few technical issues - the D/Ts were obviously easier to just write as 2/2, but these do not reflect most of the hides. Some are harder, but most are easier. The final I think the D/T was swapped accidentally too. There are the occasional micro/small mix up and of course parking at some of the GZs seems to be difficult for the CO to work out the best spots.
Not all caches were bad, there were a couple with something good about them like the cows in the paddock at one and they were all found and in good condition mostly. And it was a lovely sunny day. Tftc InnocentApple!!!

Parking was a bit scary. The road was busy and there was hardly anywhere to park around most of the caches. TFTC.

Found all the states on the part of the trail we tackled today. Some were more difficult to find than others but we managed to find and sign all the logs we wanted. The run might actually have been fun if it was possible to park safely near the hides. Very few placements had safe parking.
Began this series with goingplaces2, but just did a part of it today. Found each one, signed each log and replaced as found. TFTC.

I went a searchin' a cache t'day,
I looked and looked for that cache t'day,
A mystery did I say,
A mystery I did not find t'day
I did not find it in the bush,
I did not find it in the tree,
By this time I was starting to ponder,
could it be over yonder?
So off I went trudging over there,
but I could not find it anywhere.
Warmest Geocaching regards from *AppleCircus*
I went a searchin' a cache t'day,
I looked and looked for that cache t'day,
A mystery did I say,
A mystery I did not find t'day
I did not find it in the bush,
I did not find it in the tree,
By this time I was starting to ponder,
could it be over yonder?
So off I went trudging over there,
but I could not find it anywhere.
Found -- 4:37 pm -- Thanks for bringing us to this location and Thanks for the hunt *InnocentApple*.
**Cache Condition:** Good and dry.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Nothing.
**Trackables:** None seen in this cache today.
**The Cache**
Some of this series took a bit to find and others were spotted easily. With CIH we signed the log in either our names or our initials in some switcheroo form of LP, DJJ, ToC and then returned cache to its hide'y hole exactly as found. This cache wasn't on my list of caches to tackle when I printed out my list and popped up just as I was downloading the gpx for my gps, so while I had extra work to do finding caches, it hs given us some bonus finds.
**The Day**
OCW *Little Panther* and *DustyJapserJet* on a much welcome and overdue camping trip for a few days at one of our much liked locations in *Gundaroo,* and tackling a couple of power trails and caches in *Canberra*.
17 = 17 0 0 [8)] not attempted.

>PLEASE
ZIP BAGS CLOSED so the log doesn't get WET
Please have consideration for cachers who come after you.
Time, effort and money have gone into this cache.

Watched as the alerts came rolling in for this new series just outside of town. Didn't pay them too much notice, the afternoon far from being free. After dropping off the eldest at footy training saw they had all still yet to be found. With 90 minutes until pickup decided to have a shot at a few of them, as time would allow.
It was a mixed bunch of finds, some I found immediately, some after a few minutes. Any that I hadn't found after 5 minutes I moved on, there were plenty to find and I wouldn't be finding them all.
Eventually finished for the evening with a healthy number of FTFs, time to head back to collect the budding AFL star. Back home and with dinner finished and I noticed a good amount were surprisingly still to be found. Bedtime for the geokids came around and decided to head back out and grab what I could.
Continued on where I left off earlier, focusing only on the newly published caches. Most were again found without issue, a few took a little searching and a couple I did not find. In the end I managed a total of 30 FTFs, getting home just after midnight.
Apologies for the generic post. TNLNSL TFTC
