In Gundaroo for a couple of days. Out for a few caches between the showers. Some of the parking along this road is a bit dicey. Thanks ALL7 for the run. TFTC

Catching up on some late logs when attending the Geobash Mega in Canberra. Took the opportunity to explore the many sights in and around Canberra and grabbed this one along the way.Chasing caches with Omegaman1971 today. Reperio 13:16Day 5 of our Capital GeoBash mega event trip to Canberra with Miss Vitruvius, and today it was time to head home, but not before finding plenty of caches. We decided to line up the caches around the Sutton area, which had plenty of high DT caches, and plenty of easier ones as well. This one was one of the nicer easier drive by finds today.Gratias ALL7As a well spent day brings happy sleep, a well spent life brings happy death - LDV

In Canberra for GeoBash 2024. Had an awesome time and joined up with Happy Feet 1 for some epic caching fun. We tackled tricky puzzles, found loads of caches, and had a great time meeting old and new caching buddies. This is one of the caches we found whilst in Canberra.Cheers for the cache.

Find Number 2870 found at 12:32. Today we found 29 caches, 0 Adventure Lab stages and had 0 DNFs. Our last day at the mega. NationalSteel and I attended the Ainslie event, tackled some of the CBR whereigo caches and then made our separate ways home.I travel this road several times a year, but never have time to stop to get any of the nearby caches. Today, on the way back from the mega, I decided to remedy that. The cache was in good condition. We took nothing, left nothing, signed the log and replaced the container as foundThanks ALL7 for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

13:29What a fascinating way to learn of the history of the American states - Native Americans perhaps as early as 11,000 BCE. .. other states developing in "more recent times" North Carolina being named after King Charles 1st of England. With so many caches in the series, it is fun to read about each state as you pause to sign a log and collect a smiley token. Thanks to ALL7 for such a creative series for the geo-gameboard. 36844

04-Feb-23
Headed out today with Rapidlywild to do the final section of this trail. The Co was kind enough to give us a bag of replacements should any of these need to be maintained along our journey.
In the end we replaced 3 as the containers were not very waterproof and the logs were soggy and another one we replaced completely as the side of the road had been cleared.

Pretty windy out today which made for an interesting retrieval on one of them.
After finishing our mini adventure we ended up at the Bakery in Sutton.

Thanks for the trail ALL7 and for the laughs and company Rapidlywild

Received a messaged from the FFLL ladies asking if I had plans today, to which I hadn't. The ladies wanted to head out and finish off the USA series near Sutton and being I had not started them, I was keen to join. The CO provided a bag of replacements to the ladies in the event we needed to do any maintenance whilst in the field. A couple needed replacing and a few logs were replaced.

It was nice and windy today, was nice caching weather all round, however the last one of this series was definitely interesting with the high winds. We treated ourselves to a pie and vanilla slice at the Sutton bakery before heading home.

Thanks for the cache placement ALL7 and thanks for the fun day out FurfacesLL ladies Big Grin

Out and about for a few caches with GreyHams on a cold and windy day. We only had a limited timeframe and the weather put off the idea of walking any of the areas we had in mind. Especially after the overnight heavy rain and wet trails waiting out there... and it was freezing at times so close to a warm car was great!

In the end a trail of caches out around the Gundaroo/Sutton area worked well. Still a bit wet under foot and some good mud and pot holed roads along the way but a good trail and a good choice for the day.

With the recent rain a few of the logs were really wet, signed them as best we could although generally most were dry and in good condition, coords were good and all found without issue.

The bakery at Sutton for a nice hot pie was yummy and warming, still very busy for the later time of the day and pleased to see they had eclairs left, caching fuel at its finest!

Thanks for your cache!

18-Sep-22
Aquilus1 & I originally planned a walk around Mt Ainslie to pick up a bunch of newer hides, but the weather wasn't the most pleasant, so we decided to do a little loop up to Gundaroo and back through Sutton collecting a power trail or two.

Most hides in decent condition, some mushy....replaced a missing container for the CO as well.

Was amazed at how busy the bakery at Sutton was!

Wow animal chewed cache.. put new one . All good .. thank you Loc612

03-Jun-22
Cache has been chewed on by an animal and as got large holes around its base. Will need a new container

01-Jun-22
Found the cache, it was lying out in the open and has been chewed on by an animal however, so is riddled with large holes. Tucked the cache back into a snug spot nearby out of the rain, but the container will need to be replaced

After the busy (and wet) summer had finished, The Rats floated the idea of a trip to the area around Canberra and Yass with Steeba and myself. We compared diaries, and had a two day mid-week window where we could make things happen, in the week wedged between Easter and ANZAC Day.

The weather was on our side for the first time in I forget how long, and we were able to make the most of our time opportunity.

A lot of excellent caches were found, and some fantastic terrain caches too. A few power trails, some crafty hides, some hard hides, and even some climbs that I could not do... even with our ladder!

Thank you to all of the cache owners for placing their hides. This boiler plate log does not reflect the quality of the hides. Most importantly thanks as always to my two great caching mates for their company!

Cheers

20-Apr-22
The Rats, Hoojar and myself teamed up for an assault in and around the Yass area for a couple of days- a most enjoyable caching trip with my mates. Plenty of power trail type finds but a lot of great variety here and there, particularly around Yass itself. We started off on Wednesday night and finished up Friday afternoon. TFTC!

20-Apr-22
The Gong Gangsters (steeba, Hoojar and The Rats) took advantage of an extended Easter / Anzac break to head out for another caching juggernaut through the Southern Highlands and Yass regions. Blessed with beautiful weather we targeted a few powertrails and high D/T rated caches.

After 2 full days we'd collected a plethora of finds, made some new friends, laughed alot, pushed our bodies beyond the comfortable level and most of all - had a great time with mates. Thanks to all the CO's for your caches and those who tagged along.

Headed into Canberra for the night with fitzy_1965 so we could attend my work Christmas party.

Of course, we couldn't just go straight into Canberra....we had to cache along the way! And....it was raining to top it off. At least the caches were all found quickly and easily.

25,406. Found with minniek during a run up to Canberra for an event and a party.

We had two very good reasons to head into Canberra today - a Christmas event and a Christmas party ! So with a hotel room booked we headed in for two days. On the way in today we cherry-picked a few caches along the way. I had five caches left in this series so they were on today's list. This was a nice quick find by minniek. Signed the log, replaced the cache as found, then headed off to the next one.

Thanks InnocentApple !! I really enjoyed this series. I have visited Alabama briefly, grabbing a few caches for the map !

This lock down we have been experiencing has been quite hard, Im sure its been same for every one.
Now that we have been given some freedom, we made plans for today to go out and geocache at Sutton area, we have been puzzling, doing jizsaws and ready for what was a very a wonderful day out, even thou it was a bit cold, a little rain, a bit of wind and sunshine as well.
It was successful day out.
Lots Tree climbs, lots of bending and stretches done today, feeling quite alive been out and about.
Thanks to all the CO for their hides, sorry for the generic logs.

**This Cache**
We came across a string of USA city caches that we had not planned to pick up today, and had not completed on a previous trip. Our plans evolved as we were on a roll finding most caches quickly leaving time to spare to do more.

Quick and easy find at GZ. TFTC InnocentApple.

**Our Day**
With the previous day’s constant rain ️ and continued overnight falls our planned 30+km cycling trip down and around the Orroral Valley swamps had to be postponed.

So, where do you go on a beautiful sunny Winter’s ️ day when the ground is too saturated to hike and too muddy to cycle on dirt tracks?

At the 11th hour, our weekend plans were brought forward combining two adventures into one ️very, very long day driving around the north of the ACT. With Contesta and GeoPartner we headed out early seeing, in the gorgeous morning sunshine ️, Lake George that should be full soon if these rains continue. Many paddocks and fields are partly under water , livestock were standing water, and some backroads had in parts turned into streams.

It was cold and very windy in some areas so we spent much of the day running between GZ and back to the warm car for the best kind of exercise! Fortunately, all GZs were quite straightforward and none required extensive searching. Just lucky today!

Yep, the car is muddy but nothing soap and water can’t fix. Home in the dark tired and exhausted but happy for our productive day in great company. Now for bed - after a shower of course!

Was a bit apprehensive about this one, seeing the DNF's from very experienced cachers. It certainly took me a lot longer than most of them in this series. When in doubt, check previous (non-generic!!) logs - I found one particularly helpful from a very experienced cacher and located after about a 10 minute search! Don't give up, it is there and has nothing to do with a wombat! Enjoyed this one, thanku, InnocentApple.

Too good for me.

#11520 - 3:51:00 PM; A quick dash out to improve the daily tally and collect a few more caches in this series. Thought this would be an easy find to wrap up the mission, but no, it took some time. Checked earlier logs and started to worry after reading a recent DNF. Was about to give up the hunt when I spied something worthy opf a look and managed to retrieve the cache and add my name to the log. Well camouflaged hide! TFTC InnocentApple Smile

This might have been simpler with a few more pairs of eyes searching. Perhaps it even merited a hint. However, no luck for me today on a solo expedition and after my self imposed time limit I moved on.

What an adventure. Found it, and had a great time.
The spot was perfect for camouflage. At least that's what I’d thought when you picked the spot. I couldn't imagine that anyone would ever be able to see it in these surroundings. So there it sat, confident that it was hidden from the world and safe from danger. Unfortunately, you had not anticipated that others may be looking upon it from other angles, and now they were stealthily descending towards it’s hiding spot.

It's always good to bring a slower friend with you on a hike. If you happen to come across zombies, the whole group doesn't have to worry. Only the slowest in the group do. That was the lesson we will all learn one day.

"Explain to me again why I shouldn't cheat?" he asked. "All the others do and nobody ever gets punished for doing so. I should go about being happy losing to cheaters because I know that I don't? That's what you're telling me?"

Thanks, signed dsd or Darksidedan or AB or Adventure Boys to save space in the logbook thanks for the cache and the adventure.

Chooo ooo [found] with dty73 on a nice sunny day. Thanks InnocentApple!

02-May-21
Tankengine and I weren’t sure what to do today, so we thought of grabbing these while we can. As with all power trails around here, they are only caches good for the numbers really.

This series had a few technical issues - the D/Ts were obviously easier to just write as 2/2, but these do not reflect most of the hides. Some are harder, but most are easier. The final I think the D/T was swapped accidentally too. There are the occasional micro/small mix up and of course parking at some of the GZs seems to be difficult for the CO to work out the best spots.

Not all caches were bad, there were a couple with something good about them like the cows in the paddock at one and they were all found and in good condition mostly. And it was a lovely sunny day. Tftc InnocentApple!!!

Enjoyed this part of the run much more today. The parking places were much better along this road and the caches not too hard to find. Had a successful run with ilook4geo on a beautiful sunny day. Thanks for this series go to InnocentApple.

I went a searchin' a cache t'day,
I looked and looked for that cache t'day,

A mystery did I say,
A mystery I did not find t'day

I did not find it in the bush,
I did not find it in the tree,

By this time I was starting to ponder,
could it be over yonder?

So off I went trudging over there,
but I could not find it anywhere.

Found Smile -- 9:31 am -- Thanks for bringing us to this location and Thanks for the hunt *InnocentApple*.

**Cache Condition:** Good and dry.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Nothing.
**Trackables:** None seen in this cache today.

**The Cache**
Some of this series took a bit to find and others were spotted easily. With CIH we signed the log in either our names or our initials in some switcheroo form of LP, DJJ, ToC and then returned cache to its hide'y hole exactly as found. This cache wasn't on my list of caches to tackle when I printed out my list and popped up just as I was downloading the gpx for my gps, so while I had extra work to do finding caches, it hs given us some bonus finds.
