A great find. The heavens opened right as we found it and it was a long, wet run back to the car but that made it even better! TQ!

Our last full day here in the area since our arrival on the 28 Feb. What a blast and thank you South Australia. The caches we found today on the path from Nurioopta to Angaston were a fitting way to end our time here. We certainly saved some of the best for last. Good to leave an area on a high note.Arrived at GZ, found the cache and started the fiddle to find the log. A fav for sure. Well done Geopenta !!!!#9378

Out and about locating caches for this months souvenir challenge.
After breakfast & CITO events, I met up with locus cache and geo pooch Rex at the parking spot near the railway statiion. We walked from #14 to #9 before time ran out.
Another great cache here although it is horizontal, appears it once would have been vertical. That said, it didn't interfere with the retrieval of the log book.
Enjoying the series so far.

Thanks for placing and maintaining geocaches for the enjoyment of cachers!

Not the most pleasant of spots in the Barossa but a cool hide none the less!

24-Jun-23
After a couple of weekends with terrible weather I was getting cabin fever and needed to get my dose of fresh air. With an event on tonight in Gawler and with no rain forecast for the afternoon I thought it be great to do the highly acclaimed NTA trail.

A Facebook call for company on the walk was answered by the Jolly Jenny and together we completed the trail which has to be on everybody’s must do list!

Another great contraption and adaptation of hide we’d seen a few times before. Love your work

Found it

The call came in yesterday from OZGrumpy if I wanted to join on a day caching in the Barossa.

I suggested as part of the trip we should do the NTA trail, we had both found one, and I’d DNF’d the one at the end.

What can I say except, awesome, not just this one, but all of them. If you haven’t done this trail you should put it to the top of your list, you’ll have to think outside of the box to get them. No mint tins in sight!!

Grumpy had this one already out, and I was only a few steps behind.

Stamped as The Brown Family aka “the coloured mint tin by the sea people”

13-May-23
Southern Autumn adventure Day 39. Mid North section of SA trip Day 10. Barossa Valley Day 2. The direction for today was Angaston. I was distracted by the markets first and then made it to Angaston. I started with a few caches around town and then hit the bike trail on my scooter to finish the caches back to where I left off the other day. The rest of the day was spent caching between Angaston, Tanunda and Nuriootpa, picking up what I was able to until I hit my daily count for this trip.

I set out along the trail to finish the caches back to where I got up to the other day. I am impressed by the variety and challenge that has been provided in this series of caches along the old tracks.

Thanks for the cache Geopenta

The first day in the Barossa with BettyBoo3747 and the geodoggies.
Dragged out the deadly treadlies and rode the rail trail Nuriootpa to Angaston, and then after lunch looked at a few puzzles around Nuriootpa.
Overcast but no rain, so a nice day for caching.

A simple but well executed cache.
There was no smell until the wind shifted slightly...
Thanks, Robmc.

#19802. Day 7 of our holiday in SA and today Robmc, the geo-doggies and I rode the Bike Trail between Nuriootpa and Angaston and return and then rode around town collecting a few solved puzzles in the afternoon. A long and rather frustrating day seeking elusive caches that did not want to be fouind. Managed to only find 17 with 2 DNF's.

Ha ha. Loved this one. I zeroed in very quicly to this one as I had seen one recently at the Wangaratta Mega. I still jumped back a mile though. And yes we did get a few whiffs of nasty smells. Favourite point.

Thanks Geopenta

Out on another chilly morning with iluvtrekking gathering finds before our departure from the Barossa on Sunday. Geo-hubby's did the ride in reverse from Angaston to Nuri. All hides were found - some easier and straight forward, others more challenging but all enjoyed and appreciated. Thanks Geopenta

Another cache found with richlink on our 2022 South Australian Adventure.

Mr richlink and Mr iluvtrekking set off from Anguston just after lunch with dark clouds looming and an icy head wind. They arrived back at the caravan park just after 4pm. They were tested at every turn but enjoyed every minute. Thank you Geopenta for the variety of hides along the trail. Some hard some not so hard but all challinging. Have a fave point for each.

Surprise and smiles all round at each of Geopenta’s excellent construction. Second day in SA after plans seemed to be always sabotaged by you know what and border closures. Great caches in SA I hear with Fab days to come at this rate. Out on trusty treadles aka my MTB to find a few before heading to wineries with the crew. TFTC AND THE FUN. Fave for variety plus!

Mrs Woodyrothwell is a prep/preschool teacher and so I just relied on her to know this nursery rhyme. In her honest opinion the original rhyme is just “weird” and doesn’t get a mention in the classroom.

In fact we had to Google the lyrics to try and remind ourselves what happens to the poor weazel or what the hell a weazel is. Just like any regular old people we had forgotten more than we learnt by the time we knew the lyrics so it was time to complain about the government, how unappreciative young people are, and the colour of the sky. tftc

This was a great trail with some very well made and constructed hides, fav point to all of them, throughly enjoyed the 1 hour ride along the trail despite 2 caches needing a PAF.

This morning I decided to head up to the Barossa for a few hours to find the new batch of caches in the area over the last 6 months. With completing the NTA series and a few others 23 caches were found.

Thanks for the cache

I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count.

The cache was found in the last place we looked, which as usual was not the first place we looked. Thanks for placing a fun cache guys. We do love your work. We signed the logbook. Of course we did that is way we play this game. Cache in pretty good condition for the cache age.

Now this one is a corker of a hide but gee wizz the smell is horrible.
CP got to play with the hide here and Aussie Mary tried not to throw up. Again some associations with the 18 months that Mark and Mary lived near Bolivar, in the only home we ever rented.
Wow, the smell is just so evocative.
Despite the smell, I will have to hand out another favourite.

Only one of the three goals from last year achieved. Twisted So once again trying and fill my calendar with multi-caches and complete loop 11 again this year. The 7 day lockdown has now made the multi-cache calendar impossible with two missed days in lockdown [^] For my third goal I will try and get my DNF numbers to single digits. Cool That should keep me busy again this year! [:o)]

LOCKDOWN HAS FINISHED. Cool Time to get out and about with Befuddled members Blackadders and S.A. Sewer Rats in search of caches. The Nuriootpa to Angaston Trail was the target today. [^] But will we get soaked. [?]

Oh my giddy aunt. There is a certain air about this cache. Surprised[xx(][xx(] And it aint a very nice air. Twisted
But notwithstanding having to hold our breath as we figured this one out it was worth the attempt. Razz the cache was soon in hand and we were on our way. Smile Yes- yes - another one. [:X][:X]

The end of lock down. Three Geo animals decided to meet and brave the elements and Go caching.

A Rat, an Adder and a Starfish, Devised a plan to attack this series.
We arrived at GZ, Quickly found the cache area.
Our 5th sense was working over time.
Those ponds were definitely on the pongee side.

Log retrieved, stamped individually by each geo animal.
Put the cache back together.
Then return the cache to it's spot.
A fave point from the SA Sewer Rats, for the hide. Tftc

28-Jul-21
After the week long lockdown was over the mob of befuddled animals could once more set out on the usual Wednesday wander. Meeting the Starfish at the usual meeting place in Nuriootpa the trio set off in the cold wet weather to claim a few finds of the newer published hides since out last visit to the area. Amongst a couple of others the main aim was to tartet the NTA series which are all deserving of a favourite point for the effort put into the construction.

We were fortunate enough to avoid the heavy showers that prevailed on the day.

Thank you for the cache Geopenta, found 28/07/2021, 3:50:00 PM

Quick maintenance ride along the trail to check on the caches after the very wet weather.
Just a message to the future finders: please don’t force or push the lid on too tight as it can lock up when it gets wet like today and be hard to open, thanks.
Otherwise I’m great condition here Smile

Met up with Mr Froghoppin for a few caches on a rainy day. Some I logged, some I left for an even rainier day Big Grin All were very much enjoyed!

A neatly engineered piece of cachery Razz And a very accurate hint!!!

Geopenta is much appreciated for placing and maintaining this cache on our geo map Smile

Gets a fav for being so much more fun than a mint tin Wink

Caches are found and logged using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S20+, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or sometimes with just plain old dumb luck! WinkCoolBig Grin

---

Do stay safe when caching.
Watch for snakes, random cliffs, wild goats, wombats, bulldust, and lightning,
try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins... but especially lookout for bugs. [xx(]

Make sure Travel Bugs are the only ones you share and pass on Big Grin

2020 turned into 2020won, and 2020too is on the way! 2020free should see us through Razz

Still important to observe social distancing when possible, (150 nano caches apart should do it)
Still important to wash your hands (always has been really [:o)]
Still very important to look after each other and take precautions & get checked out for even the tiniest sniffle or cough, or unexpected headache! [8)] [B)]

Still even more important to get some fresh air and exercise while we can, so get out and cache the country!

Thanks so much to all those placing caches out and about away from the city crowds,
keeps our game safe and interesting Cool

A day off from work and a catch up with Mattycat to check out a few caches in the Barossa, with a mixed bag of weather we managed to dodge most of the showers, following the trail in reverse we arrived at of next challenge, loving the variety of hides and this was no exception, cache was soon in our hands and another favourite point from us

Had been wondering where it would be worth taking the bike to for a bit of a ride when I noticed this new series come out but was too busy with other things to come out straight away or even the next day. Finally this morning had the bike loaded up and headed out this way. There were still some unlogged so was hoping for some FTFs and decided to do in reverse. After a DNF at #14 got the bike ready and headed off and soon got the other reward for a FTF hunter, meeting other cachers out on the trail. After a nice chat it was realised that nearly all FTFs were gone but as that wasn't the main aim, merely a possible bonus, that wasn't a problem. Ended up seeing them twice more on the trail and sharing a couple of hunts. Even scored a very satisfying FTF as last for the day so all in all it ended up being a very nice day caching with a bit of exercise, maybe a touch cool but no rain at all.
This was the second of twelve found from this excellent fourteen cache series. Didn't notice the smell but did see a new way of accessing a log.
It is definitely not a power trail but is definitely one of the best small series I've ever done. Many thanks to Geopenta for the time and thought put into these caches that added greatly to my enjoyment. My apologizes for the cut and paste style logs, your caches definitely deserve better but writing logs is not my strong point.

Enjoyed the walk along the rail trail between Angaston and Nuriootpa with goingplaces2. There was some sun, some rain and always a cold wind today.
We found all but one of the caches along this part of the trail.
Cache found here with a blank log for a (FTF) cache, log signed, job done. Added a fav for this one. TFTC.

WooHoo!! This was a joint (FTF) cache here, found along with ilook4geo. Yes, it does smell a bit here but that does not deter a cacher on a (FTF) hunt.
Came along with ilook4geo to do some caching along some of the many trails around this area. We did different types today including traditional, multi, letter box and puzzle. It was a good day and we found almost all the caches we looked for, with some interesting hides included. We were happy to add both our names to each log and replace each container as it had been found. Thank you to Geopenta for placing this cache. Another favourite for the construction involved.
