I am so sad this is the last entry for this locationless cache. I made sure we got all the torpedoes at the New Jersey Naval Museum (two have already been logged) in Hackensack, NJ. The coords are for the entry to this section of the museum.
A very sad day is upon us in Geocaching.

A very sad day is upon us in Geocaching.
Found this exhausting day of locationless caching before they disappear at the Oklahoma City Omniplex. It cost $10,000 in 1941 and weighed 3,000. It contains 18 lbs. of dynamite, is effective up to 200 yards and travels at 6 knots.
Torpedoes at Battleship Cove

Fall River, Massachusetts, USA
This pair of World War II torpedoes are displayed at Battleship Cove with PT Boat, PT 617. The size of a torpedo never fails to surprise us - they must have been very dangerous for the sailors to load/unload into their tubes. Thanks for the cache!

Well this one got me in a bit of hot water...took a picture and a Navy Security Officer came running out, "Hey you can't take pictures of a TORPEDO!!!" You better come with me. So Off i went. inside to the next level...Then the next...now I had 3 wet behind the ears officers wondering what to do with me...Then it was UPSTAIRS to see The head guy.....fortunatly he was wise to his years...he told the youngsters that it was OK, people do it all the time. I was free to go, close call! There was a second newer model there, but didn't risk another picture... Location was on the Navy Base in Newport Rhode Island.
Found this one at the local maritime museum. I was outside the fence so no details, sorry. First pic with a Sub and some torpedoes. Second pic with GPS and the silhouette of the Sub.

US Mk 14 torpedo cut-away for display, forward torpedo room of USS Pampanito in San Francisco. This torpedo is on the rack on the far port side, on the top tier.
While there is a Mk14 on display above on the pier (see three prior logs) none of the many torpedoes actually inside the Pamanito have been logged here before, perhaps because there is a charge to go aboard for the self-guided tour. Bullit and I set out to correct that today and came back with a lot of pictures. I'll be uploading seventeen images just for my log!
I've always wanted to go aboard a WWII sub so this was a real treat.

This is a U.S.N Mk 14 Mod 5 Torpedo in the aft torpedo room of the USS Pampanito. This torpedo was manufactured in 1944 and has a registration number of 64795. There are a total of four Torpedos in the Aft room and I think 7 in the forward chamber.
Nazgul and I had a blast exploring this old WWII sub today in San Francisco, CA. Thanks for getting us up here for some fun.

Well i looked through the logs to see if these torpedoes had been logged and didn't see them. There are on the navy base in Newport/Middletwon R.I. out side of NUWC.
Groton CT must be the torpedoe capitol of the US. Found this one outsite the Fleet Reserve Association hall at the corner of Thames and Pleasant Street.
Found this one in a rest stop in Georgia on the north bound side just over the state line from Florida. I can't beleave I didn't get the whole thing in the picture. I'll have to take another one on my next trip and replace the image
Arizona and torpedoes. Not gonna happen I thought. I was stunned when I found a torpedo monument at the National Cemetery.
We had the pleasure of caching with Geo13 and Bushwhack Bob today ... together, we're Team CHN. We found this torpedo mounted on a roof while traveling in eastern NC! Thanks for sharing!
Pearl Harbor, Oahu, Hawaii
There are torpedos galore on display here. This is a Mark 14 Steam Driven Torpedo.

We found this torpedo at the Virginia War Museum, they have tons of retired tanks, turrets, and big guns.
There are no less than seven torpedos at the NJ Naval Museum in Hackensack. Plus the submarien Ling! Here is one of the torpedoes.
Foundd it.® One of many torpedoes in Hackensack. But what is a submarine doing in the Hackensack River?
Found this torpedo in the front window of the Maritime Museum, Halifax Nova Scotia
This torpedo is on permanent display in the RAF museum in Hendon, London, England. It is an 18 inch Mk.30 torpedo developed in the 1960's and it was carried by the RAF Shakleton and Nimrod aircraft.
Near a memorial at the beach in SoCal and a tribute to perished sailors too! This is a very moving place to visit. Thanks for the L/R cache!
This decrepit example is near one of the old US Navy facilities in St. Petersburg, Florida.
This ist the U995 Technical Museum at Laboe (near Kiel), Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.
This submarine is the Type VIIC/41

This torpedo is located directly across the street from the Port Orchard, Washington City Hall.
As part of the Trilogy of Terror, I found this one with Check4Cache and the AlbinoRhino.
I'm not sure exactly if this is a torpedo or not; thus the note. If the cache owner could e-mail me and verify if it is/isn't a torpedo, I will either delete my log or change it to a find.
This is located in Nay Aug Park in Scranton, Pennsylvania and is an original from the Battleship Maine. It now sits on display outside the Everheart Museum as a memorial for those who lost their lives in the attack.

Found the Damn Torpedo while doing the Juilett 484 cache in Providence, RI at Collier Point. Juilett 484 is a Russian sub and a Must-do cache for those in the area! On the attached photo of the inside of hte sub there is my wife with 2 round objects (torpedos) over her head. We will claim the right one. The left one is still for grabs.

I found this in the most fantastic museum in Amsterdam, the Shipvaart. So here it is with all of its topedo guts showing!
I used to be stationed here at Mare Island during my Navy daze - and I've been on the lookout for torpedos for a couple years now, but keep finding ones that are logged. Previous logs near these coordinates are definitely from this same park - but there are at least 3 unique torpedos here in the park, so hopefully the cache owner acknowledges the validy of this log. I took photos of all of them, but my fav were definitely the big ol' German ones.
This torpedo is part of a small display at the local Goverment surplus sales yard, and is not for sale.
The plate that gives the type of the torpedo is missing but the trolley it is on is a No.4 MK1

#702 5th of many found at 9:05 am today with MajorT as we did the NJ Lighthouse Challenge. This was just sitting out for all to see in a cemetery! TFTC!
Picking up a cache in this general area and saw a cool little park with a wide range of rockets, torpedos, and military artifacts. This is a civil war era torpedo. Interesting to see the evolution.

From the USS Ling, now on permanent station at the Hackensack River in Hackensack, NJ. Worth a trip for anyone who ever contemplated (or did) service on a ship that could intentionally sink itself.
This is another torpedo on the USS Cassin Young in the Charlestown Navy Yard in Massachusetts. Originally I took a photo of a torpedo logged last month, but I lucked out and took another photo of a disassebled torpedo on the other side of the bulkhead. Pretty unique if I do say so myself. Not sure what kind though, sorry.
This torpeodo can be found at RAF Cosford Aerospace Museum in Shropshire uk, it is a light weight mark 30 air to sub surface torpeodo manufactured by the Royal navy torpeodo factory in 1952 it is detonated by proximity fuse.
Located in Buffalo, NY. Also included some pics of naval ships and a submarine that you can take a self tour on at this location.
The museum on the USS Hornet in Alameda, California, features a torpedo bomber (Avenger) with a torpedo next to it.
Easy one for me, as the torpedo is right next door to my office! This one's a MK 46 ASW torpedo, used in the Canadian Forces on ship and aircraft. At Shearwater, this example is used as a training aid for armourers and aircrew. Cutaways reveal the inner workings of a lightweight torpedo.
this is MK13 torpedo, made in St. Louis, MO during WW2. It was used on Dauntless Dive Bombers and also some ships. It is currently in front of the EOD unit on the Naval Surface Warfare Center near Crane, Indiana. Because of security concerns, and the fact that cameras are not welcome everywhere on the base (but I think this area was OK),I have not included the entire GPS location. Even military will have a tough time getting on this base if they are not on orders or stationed here, civilians, probably not at all.
We found this torpedo in North Little Rock, Arkansas. It looks like they are getting ready to put it on display in front of the USS Razorback Submarine.

I found this on Central St. in St. Petersburg, Fl. There was no history on it and the building didn't look very nice so I didn't go inside to see if they had any information on it.

There were a number of torpedoes displayed in the Liverpool Maritime museum much to my father's delight - as a T.A.S.I. in the Royal Navy many years ago he enjoyed talking to the school children present at the museum at the time of our visit.
Conor of West Veterans Blvd and St. Ann Street in Owensboro, Ky.The torpedoe is located in the side yard of the American Legion.
This is the Vulcan Nuclear Bomber with its Torpedo, on display at the Aircraft Museum near North Berwick, Scotland.

Located in TN near Cohutta Wilderness area and Ocoee River at a fireworks store. There are also copper mines not far from the store.
We found our torpedo this afternoon at the Alberta Naval Museum. Check out the history, specs and the GPS numbers in the pictures. Enjoy! TFTH.
Found this at the Aviation Museum in Cape May,New Jersey,USA. It was used by the TBM Avenger airplane in WWII.
We found this torpedo on display at the Don Rea VFW Post 8848 on the corner of Witham and Dykstra Roads in Muskegon, Michigan, USA. We actually saw several torpedoes on display while caching around Muskegon but this was the only one we could find that had not been logged yet.
We stumbled on this incredible yard display on Route 52 just outside Pine Bush, NY. Even though this torpedo is on the smaller side, upon closer look, we found that it did indeed have a propeller in the back.
Thanks for the cache!

One of several aboard USS Cassin Young. Not to be confused with the torpedo submitted by The Cannon. This is on the other side of the ship and quite different.
I found this torpedo in front of the Heslar Naval Armory in Indianapolis. The gates were closed, so I couldn't get to read what the plaque's say beneath it. When I get the chance to, I will update the log. THe GPSr shot is blurry - the camera had trouble trying to focus on the unit, the gate and the torpedo at the same time.
Two torpedoes for the price of one. These two are part of an exhibit at the Chinese People's Revolutionary Military Museum, in Beijing, China. According to the accompanying plaques, the smaller one is a "Chinese Yu-2 Air Jet Torpedo"; the larger one is a "Chinese Yu-1 Steam Gas Torpedo".
As the torpedoes are located inside, where GPSr lock is impossible, the above coordinates were taken at the front door of the museum. Thanks for the cache.
