I have decided to end Armouries Around The World today. This is very appropriate due to the last log from the 3 Bears of the Armoury where all Canadian soldiers started their military career.

With the start-up of the new Locationless site I hope someone will start up a new listing for Armouries.

Thanks to all who log a find here and showed me some amazing Armouries.

This is the Drill Hall I did my Basic Training in when I Joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1981!(we got the photos at 6:30 am, a late start by recuits standard) CFB Cornwallis is now a closed base being use by the community. Shaw is using the hall as a wood processing site for Ikea now. The Base and Drill hall was in operation from 1943 to 1994, first serving the Navy then the entire CF. This was a special cache for us as it is our 500th. I recall my Sargeant going berserk on me regularly as I did a bear walk often (no easy task for Joe average, but for me rather natural!) Many were the pushups (150 was his favorite number) I completed to aide my skills at marching! The history of this site can be found at www.cornwallismuseum.ca . What a great find and interesting memories this cache had for me. Thanks for the cache!

This former armory was home to the Hagerstown National Guard for many years. With military specialization in the late 20th century, several newer armories have been built that supplant this small one. It is located on North Potomac Str. in Hagerstown, Maryland. Alabama Gov. George Wallace once campaigned for the Presidency at this location. Fun cache idea. Thanks.

The Augusta Arsenal was moved to this site from its original site in 1827. It served as an arsenal for the CSA during the War Between the States, and thereafter as a United States Army Arsenal until after the second world war. After decomissioning, the campus was purchased and became Augusta College - now Augusta State University. The guardhouse pictured dates from 1866. Some of the other original buildings are still in use (after renovation of course) by the university.

This armory is in Hood River Oregon at 1590 12th Avenue. According to representative Dave Arnold, the armory was built in 1955-56 and is a K-style armory. There are 8-10 similar armories in Oregon with the same design. Currently the 218th Field Artillery unit trains there. The armory can also be rented by community members for weddings, quinceaneras, or other social gatherings.

The Middletown Inn
Main Street
Middletown, CT

As the name suggests, the old Middletown Armory is currently functioning as The Middletown Inn. It has been lovingly restored into a beautiful facility that we use for work meetings. The restaurant's name is The Armory and is a very quaint little bar/restaurant.
