This is a a great park and what an interesting Art Deco building. Felt a bit nervous near the edge but thankfully found the cache was not too close. 7th Aukland cahe for today. +stamp -stickers Thanks for the adventure.
This was the last of about 80 caches done in a 25-day trip to New Zealand. Took the TNT sour chew; left a U.S. 5ยข commemorative coin.
Been there hundreds of times BG (Before Geocaching) Had us going for a while but like usual it was exactly in the middle of our search pattern. Quite wet underfoot. An interesting fact about the area... if you dig around under the flat grass either side of the driveway, you will find a copper mesh, used as an antennae for the radio station. Found Nemo, so he came with us. Left Face Wash, (thanks for bringing that Pete)
1.20pm. HAd a very old print out of this one. The co-ords listed had me out in the middle of the grassed area.
Decided to check all the places around and bingo there it was.
Took a waypoint to add to the log, but i've just seen that the co-ords have been changed & are spot on [:d]

We finally found it!
This is our first ever find. Tried yesterday however had to give up and recheck that our GPS was working corectly. Then again today with an additional hint from willbuild and we were back on track.

Bit of a hunt for this one as the gps didnt want us so deep in the bush. Found it then the problems began. Ripped the bag trying to pry it out of the container, and then no pen, so a trip back to the car. Sorry Willbuild but another maint trip may be needed.

visted with surgez.
when approaching gz, we could see the cache distrubed on the ground. luckily all was intact and it had not rolled over the cliff.
we rehid the cache where we thought it should have been.

It was about 1730 when I drove past the sign saying shuts at 6 so I had to be quick and was. There was a wedding party getting photographed near the car park that I walked past on the way to the cache. Co-ordinates wanted to be in the open, but after checking a couple of logs I went into the bushes and found the cache quite exposed. Assuming it was supposed to be so exposed I left it like that after logging it. No exchange made. Cheers Gav [421]
17:27pm.My 30th find.Managed to get in & out before the gates closed.Easiest cache I've found.Gps took me right to it.There it was sitting out in the open under the trees. This used to be a popular place for park ups at night when I was a teenager.Back then they didn't have a gate down the end of the road to close at 6.00pm.Tnlnsl.Cheers willbuild
Awesome views from the site on an amazing Auckland evening. GPS showed 10m east of cache, maybe due to tree cover??? 3rd cache for the day.
cache is very full!

Being orienteers this was familiar terrain to us. Lovely area, great cache site, Lash sighted it from 5 metres away, I was closer on my knees before seeing it.
Possible clue: hands and knees around the trees!
Thanks Willbuild.

Liked this a lot - number 7 for the day. Thought I was going to dip out but taking another line through the trees saw it about 5 metres away. Very good hiding place and super location for scenery. I hope no one has fallen off the edge!
Thanks Willbuild - this was my third of yours today.

We had been here before, strangely without checking if there was a cache! So back we went today.

Heaps of boats out on the harbour today. People seem to be in summer mode now the days are getting warmer. Can't believe the number of cyclists out on the road. Nice spot for a cache. Thanks. TNLN
Our 2nd of 3 caches from the great Willbuild. Adee spotted this one, as I was trying to get a good uplink .Tree cover seems to kill it near the short end of the game. Watched the RED car ferry come into the harbour while we were there.

No find for me!
Quite a drive for a stranger in a strange land, navigating by the ubiquitous street map.
I was keen to do some caching while I was in Auckland, cause they're often in the 'not so well known' spots that are still beautiful. And yep, I was right.
Enjoyed a Sunday drive alone the harbourside to about 2km from GZ, before I had to detour away and drive around the bay. Eventually got to somewhere near GZ. The drive was worth it though, as the view was lovely.
Disappointed there were no clues, 2500km is a long way to travel for a no-find.

A tricky find, GPS was jumping around and there were
weekend picnicing muggles to outwait/avoid. But a
little perserverance got me my 4th find for the day.

Thought I'd get this one after work. Walked right to the spot OK but after looking for about 45 mins I had to give up due to failing light. Haven't quite adjusted to loss of daylight savings yet.
Might have to leave it til weekend.

Found it! , took a little while finding but eventually found the cache, 2nd find today. Rather windy at site though, not many people around (1 other car). Cheers

Went on a reeky around the area to find a spot for my next Geocache (3rd). when I turned on my GPS the waypoint for this cache popped up. Nice walk as bottom gate was locked (after 6pm) and superb views of Browns island and city.

The Cache Wraiths found this cache this morning. Very nice spot indeed, but watch the kids when you get near the area. Took about 20 mins to find it, but then we reread some of the previous visits and found a clue. Bring a picnic as there are plenty of places to set up with awesome views. In - .50c Out - Tape measure.
Nice easy find, last time I was here it was near flooded Just don't slip over the cliff as it's a long way down!!
Great views, and a beaut day. Haven't been here for ages, had a bit of a hunt for this one about 10mins.
Nil in nil out.Thanks.

It was such a beautiful winter day in Auckland that we felt it would be criminal not to get out to do some caching. Thanks for leading us to such a fabulous location - the views were spectacular! Out: Candle to make room for...In: tape measure

First for the day-and before my morning coffee too Quick find in a howling gale - Great fun, should have brought a kite! Nothing out, Dwarf token in. No-one around...funny that
Today I returned with reinforcements namely my wife and grand children and we took along a picnic lunch. It was a partial handycap as the toddler kept venturing too close to the cliff edge.
We had to hold up procedings when a party of fishermen apparently had directions that a path down to the water started almost exactly at the cache site! It took them some time to decide that their directions were wrong. It was unnerving to stand there frozen, hoping they would pass by, only to have them apparently home in on me.
The small size of these bottles Willbuild uses mean that you have to revise your expectations about where to look. Anyway 10 minutes probing around found it.
Took nil and left a Kiwi 1 cent piece as everything else we had along would not fit.

A great day to be searching and searching and searching! I spent a half hour and no result. I used my external antenna and seldom lost lock but still ended up empty handed. Unfortunately I missed the clue about minding your head until logging this visit. Drat it.
I note a possum trap close by so I hope the cache is still there.
Traveller Moose liked the view (see photo) but shared my frustration.

This was my first geocache hunt. Well hidden, took about 2 mins to find, although my Vista did have some trouble with reception, even in the light tree cover. Excellent view point.
Took me a while to locate this one. Had to wait for the young lovers to vacate the nearby grassy area. Then I could only get a lock to within 20m, my GPS was having an off day at this spot.
Took the strawberry drink and left a magnetic key locker.
Cheers Willbuild, nice to find one of your cache's

Paddled from Okahu Bay with 20 knot NW'ers and a sail - what a hoon! Took me twice as long to get back though! Timed the tide wrong - it was too far out. Rabbits all over the place! Opened the cache and a woof of Gold palmolive soap, so I took that and replaced with a strawberry drink and straws. A good evening out - thanks.
This one was a wee bit harder to find as I couldn't get a good lock....almost gave up, but decided to have another look and there it was, the worst part is it was where I looked earlier.
Heaps of people here as they were having a comeration day for Captain Museik (poineered the New Zealand to America run in a catalina flying boat)with hams set up everywhere and also had a flyover with six harvards. Man talk about a rumble, make any V8 enthusist jealous.
Took batts and left nail clippers.

Found this after about 10 mins, went passed it several times until we thought about the clue. Left a model car and took the stapler.
Struggled with this one yesterday. GPSr took me to a spot about 10m away. Spent a while searching the vicinity (there were plenty of hiding places), but nothing.
My page printout was a few weeks old, so thought I'd check the web page again before calling it a lost cache. Saw that willbuild had been there two days ago!!
Went back today, armed with the clue about banging heads, and walked straight to it.

The last time I visited Auckland three years ago, my cousin took me to this scenic spot on the first day I arrived. Even though I was dead tired from jet lag, this place was my first introduction to New Zealand and the memory was forever inprinted.
I eagerly looked to return to this site to place a Travel Bug Hotel cache here but alas, there was a cache in the proximity (this one) and out of respect, I didn't place it here (even though I found an excellent hiding place for it near the radio station - typical! )
I searched the area for about 30 minutes or so- even with my Mom giving me moral support from a distance (cliffs were a tad scary for her ). I looked under every root and bush/tree and those cliffs seemed to beckon forth . I had to abandon the search due to the rain gods pouring forth. (What's with this Auckland weather, anyway..? [xx(]). I had to leave the cache unfounded and beat a hasty retreat to the car. I might give it another go before I leave back to the USA in 12 days. For now, I need to find a cache spot for my TB hotel and the Travel Bugs I have ....
Thanks for bringing me to this spot again!

Failed to find cache - I suspect that the area has been tidied by the gardeners - someone told us that they had done a big litter clear up recently.
Found it about 5m to the right of where i thought it was when i came on sunday. Enjoyed the find despite the nasty message left in the log book, addressed to me, from Ariwa
Have a fair idea where the cache is, but this area is so beautiful it was covered in families enjoying the sunday sun. 2 families within 10m of the cache location. i'll be back soon and i'm sure i know where it is
Found it...with a little help. Great place and great views.
Our first cache and we found it just before the rain came down. The kids had a great time.

Great place for a cache. I've always wanted to go here and visit the old radio station which was very impressive. I felt a bit of a magical feeling within while looking for this cache, not sure if it was just the well-maintained grounds or something more spiritual?
