Logs
Wish we had read the previous logs before we wandered up the hill. ?? Like those before us we had a very good look but no luck. Took some photos of the probable cache site and have sent them to CO.
Unfortunately, we were not able to find it.
We did have a good look around.
We did have a good look around.
Found a spot that looked perfect for the description of the cache, but sadly nothing in the entire area. We did find a possum looking back at us when searching a hollow tree however, so that made it worth it. Will definitely be back to claim if the cache is found once more!
My 3rd DNF for today and even after reading the other finds still could not locate it.

Thanks for the cache Diadem and TaurusSix.
RLD4963 offerred to look after the GeoGSP's this morning so I could take a stroll around part of Risdon Brook Dam to find some caches. Also thank you to the person who placed the strategically placed rock so that I could reach this cache! A nice quick find at GZ, cache is in good condition.

Find #12861
In Tassie for a few days with beckNmonts and Earthbound Chief. Hopefully some fun will be had including finding some wonderful caches.
After an easy day one, it was time to hit the hills as well as solved puzzles and some challenge caches. Maybe some wherigos if there is time.
Massive thanks go to Diadem and TaurusSix for placing this one.
Big things are continuing to happen! *Are you joining the fun again in 2022?*

Finally got around to get to the top of Mount Direction, on day 3 of some leave, and now nearly completed my circuitous route.
Still with a bit of spare time up my sleeve, so grabbing this little series, before crossing the dam wall on the way back.
A nice quick find, all good at GZ, except I had to walk back uphill to find it!
Thanks Diadem and TaurusSix, for the cache and the adventure.
Cheers, EPs.

Out geocaching with ahomburg, Earthbound Chief and Mazda StarBounceSky, the Standard Poodle with very short legs (BeckNmonts’ new caching companion…purchased along with a coke at Hobart airport). After a crazy o’clock start yesterday…this morning’s rise was a much more civilized 7:15am. Having met one of the locals yesterday, we were in a far better position to find some caches with the addition of more specialized equipment! We had a bit of a wander around here this morning.

Nice walk around the Risdon Brook reservoir on a grey and rather damp afternoon. We found 3 caches, but 2 others were too sneaky for us. This cache was an easy find. TFTC!

Hello Diadem thank you for the cache
Today I was in the area finding caches and this one of yours was one that I found.
Not the smartest of ways to get them but that's what happen when I don't plan things.
It was an easy find.

After finding Risdon High, and continuing on our selected route for our Scout hike to climb Mt Direction (the equivalent of climbing the lighthouse on Tasman Island 13 times ... because we are doing "lighthouse climbs" as a fund-raising challenge), we continued on to this cache for the Scouts to practice some GPS skills. Some of the shorter Scouts were a little challenged by this one (but only a little!). Thanks for the cache, Diadem and TaurusSix.
Today Mrs Nataliec1234 met up with Porkchop6977 for a bit of a belated Father's Day caching jaunt around Risdon Brook Dam. There were a couple that had us on previous visits that we were keen to have another crack at, as well as a bunch of newer caches to track down - definitely plenty to keep us busy for a bit!
There was a bit of debate had on this one as to how to best approach it, with one alternative each pursued by each of Porkchop6977 and Mrs Nataliec1234. As it happened, Porkchop took the "simple" approach this time and soon had the cache in hand.
Thanks for yet another cache in this wonderful place.

Hi Diadem & TaurusSix, thank you for these four new caches in an area which is great for caching. Met up with nataliec1234 for a belated fathers day wander after spending last weekend with the Princess for her birthday party. It was a great day for caching overcast and warm. This was the third of the series tackled and we headed up and up again to get to this one. Nataliec1234 took the the direct route down and up the gully, while I stayed on the trail. It was my turn to head up past the towers and locate the cache which was snugly hidden away in a spot that should remain concealed for a long time. Again great coordinates no problems finding. The bush is easy to negotiate however even though it is spring we were mindful of where we put our feet, especially over the other side of fallen trees.
Lovely area, really enjoying my walk today. Thankfull for the stepping stone defs could not reach without!! Cheers for bringing me up here.
While out and about today we found a few caches on the way and this was one of them.
Nice views of the surrounds, accurate co-ordinates led to a quick find. Cache and contents were in good condition. Dropped off TB.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Out and about with Tassie Trekkers collecting caches and this was one of two found in the area. A pleasant walk to GZ despite the wind. TFTC
Good view of the dam from here, lots of people about today on a cool but sunny day TFTC
We were wondering whether we had taken a wrong turn, looking for Risdon lower but then we found this! Such a peaceful spot and so close to suburbia. Thanks for bringing us here! TFTC
After grabbing a couple of nearby joint FTFs with membsec, we both headed over to this one. Every now and again we'd come across a slight animal track but generally we just took a straight line through the long grass, which thankfully wasn't too wet, and down & up a couple of gulleys. An obvious feature at GZ and a nice hidey hole. TFTC!
Cheers,

Noticed the new caches last night and knew that had to be a the gates for opening this morning. Once parked realised that the enjoyable walk would be with the Hancock Clan So off we went on an enjoyable circular walk grabbing a couple of FTFs and then the other 2 new ones. Great walk and chat.
A steady walk up hill and over some creeks eventually saw us in a small copse and a likely hiding spot.

A quick find in a nice area. Wandered past about 20 wallabies on the way to it and the wrens are very active.
Have been up this way a few times for caches

We pushed ourselves up the hill after finding the other cache, all the while reminding myself that I am still damn unfit, as I huffed and puffed. As I neared GZ, with SSR still on his way, I knew where GZ would be. I soon found the hide and extracted the cache. I could see the car from here, annoyed the TB was sitting in there but I wasn't going back for it!
After signing and replacing we continued around the hill before dropping down to the track near Sneaky.
Thanks Diadem

I saw this listing come out last night after being stuck in the house for probably a week, excepting an outing on the weekend and a couple of trips to the doctor etc. Feeling much better than i was before i thought it might be a good idea to go and find this, but of course the park was closed until morning. To get the jump, I'd need to be early so i hatched a plan to be waiting at the gate for the park to open (whilst they advertise 7:30 in practice it varies from 7:15 to 7:45 depending on what time the chap turns up). Arriving at 6:50, expecting to wait around a bit, i found an open gate so preceded. It was still dark but nothing a head torch wouldn't fix.
I started to see cars arrive as i was at GZ for the other cache so decided to get the further one first, hoping to meet someone on the way back down. Anyway, this cache was found at 7:02 and i was *{FTF}* finding it. After logging it, it was placed back in its secure nook. Cache is obviously in good condition, having been placed yesterday.

With Loftier hides in my sight today this "Higher than it's Cousin" hide was in my sights with hopefully a 'STF' on it also
Another Silver Medal was still on offer so i obliged with the signing of an almost blank and dry, new log book was done at 10:19 on Tuesday the 15th of June 2021.
{The past 3 or so days have been so nice with that slow and steady drizzly rain and almost perfectly still conditions, great for bay photography, glassy waters aren't common here i'm told [:o] }
