Having a few days in Isa decided to tackle some of this MCT Bison Trek well these were found quite easily but must wear long pants tomorrow. Thanks drrnrchr for setting up this trail.
Carried out cache maintenance on this cache. Bushfire got to the base of this tree, but didnt affect the bison tube or tether. Replaced log as it was full. 31/10/2023. All is good with this cache.
We have now left Mount Isa, and I have still quite a few to log.We enjoyed our stay in Mount Isa, together with Team Q4, and met local cache owners at for a mutual dinner. Thanks to all cache owners who put out caches for our enjoyment. Thanks for this Bison trail, drrnrchr
TFTC smile 16970 out and about on a lovely day signed and replaced as Team Q4 Snickersallan Hatzofff RoddyC and TBU Thank you drrnrchr for placing this cache for our enjoyment
Enjoying my very first visit to Mount Isa in the company of RoddyC, hatzofff, and grannysmith1947. To save space in the log sheets, we are signing as Team Q4.It was also nice to have Team TBU join us for a few days. There were a good variety of caches on offer, and the majority were easy enough to find and were in good condition, with no DNF's to record today.Thank you, drrnrchr, for placing this long trail for our benefit, and hopefully, it will get us over the line for a local challenge
We started at the furthest cache out on Lake Mondarra and worked our way back towards the City. Some caches were easy to get to, some needed bigger efforts, some were quickly found, some took longer .... It was a fun day out. Thanks to cache owner drrnchr who put out these cache for our enjoyment.
More exploring around Mount Isa with hatzofff, Grannysmith1947 and Snickersallan. Signed as Team Q4.Today we journey to the lake and back after some really early hill work.Short spinifex here. Log signed and cache replaced as found on 27 September 2023. TFTC, drrnrchr
Travelling with RoddyC, snickersallan and grannysmith1947 as TeamQ4.Day 3 in the Mount Isa area to complete some challenges and get some more smiles and caching with TBUs.TFTCache drrnrchr

Mt. Isa Day 2
Drove out to Lake Moondara, just a pretty location.
On the way back we commenced the MCT Bison Trek, finished about half of them.
After lunch we did the walking dog trail.
What a great way to tour the country following the geocaching trail.
Thanks to the CO for placing this cache

Day 85 of our greynomad trip up north from Vic, after a the JLWEvents in Wudinna SA, a tour of Maralinga and caching to claim LGAs in the Eyre Peninsula, through to Alice Springs, Uluru, Darwin, Kakadu and Litchfield we continue our journey back south. It is also day 84 of a streak.
Staying in Mt Isa for a few nights more than we originally planned as we require a car repair. Todays task was to find a couple of other Mt Isa oldies to qualify for a challenge, then some of the MCT trail. Thanks drrnrchr, I don't like rocks, or spinifex and Mt Isa sure has its abundance of both.

Rondje in omgeving Mount Isa gemaakt. Hierbij deze cache gezocht en gevonden. TFTC.
We drove out to the lake and stopped at good pull over places. A bit of shank’s pony some of the time. Thanks for an entertaining series.
Today we decided to tackle this MCT Bison Trek series as the day was good, not too hot and up early and ready to go! Yep all the bison’s are all there, you may think not, but believe you GPS. Some are high and some are low and some tricky but after reading the cache notes an easy find will be rewarded. We started at number 1 and worked our way back into Mount Isa.
Caches and contents were very good as well as the co-ords.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

On my way to NT via Birdsville Queensland with a few detours for shires. TFTC.
This is a great series. Nicely paced. Caches easy to find. Getting out in the scrub. Looking forward to completing it.

We had spent some time earlier around the lake taking photos and wandering to other places earlier in the day, spotting a Whistling Kite, and many other unusual birds.
We have no bicycles with us on this trip, but we were very keen to walk as much of it as possible.
This meant a big car shuffle along the way, with Mr Domsky dropping Mrs Domsky off to meander along and look at birds, plants and animals along the way.
It was only once that Mr Domsky had to back track and help search for an obscure bison, as Mrs Domsky was stuck.
Of course, just as the car pulled up “got it” was shouted from the bush within.
The birdlife was amazing, the Trail was peaceful and absolutely beautiful.
Along the way, we were quite surprised to find that this amazing bicycle trail covers 13 km all the way to the lake and dam and back to the outskirts of Mount Isa.
This is our log for the series, with a seperate log for the final in this series.
Suffice to say, it was awesome to walk this trail and for us to finally be in Mt Isa!
Thank you drrnrchr

A nice quick find on the way back from a day at the dam.
A beautiful outback oasis
Amazing to see all the peacocks out on the lawn
Thanks for the series, only called in and put a smiley on one as we didn’t download them offline

Day two in Mount Isa and an early start had us at the top of this series, as we worked our way back to No 31 where we started yesterday afternoon.
We found some of the hides a little more difficult on this section but are happy to say we found all of them, some just took awhile longer than they should have. ??
We got our fair share of exercise today as parking was not as easy as yesterday but the series was designed to be done by bike so we were happy with our walks.
Again please do not take this generic log the wrong way as we do appreciate all the time cost and effort gone into setting up this series but when you do so many it is hard to remember some different about each hide
Many thanks for your effort we really enjoyed the series.
This is a wonderful trail of caches. Clean, well maintained, variety in the location of the hides, great scenery and the gums smell so nice. We had our gators on so the spinifex wasn't a huge problem. The orb spiders and their webs were prolific but thankfully no green tree ants which we had gotten used to for having just been in Darwin. Thanks drrnrchr for arranging and maintaining this series.
Slowly trekking along this bison trail with ilook4geo and decided to work from the top down. Found a series of well hung caches and signed each log found. Thanks go to drrnrchr for creating this trail, but it is definitely is not a power trail. You need time to negotiate rocks and spinifex.
Doing some of this run with goingplaces2. It wasn't as easy as we had hoped it would be. Working on the low numbers first. Signed log and replaced. TFTC.
Left Cunnamulla after QOGM 2021 heading to Sth Australia, Then WA then back to Cairns June 2022. 8 October 2021 10:20 am Tyfc drrnrchr total caches now 2697
Day 1 in Mount Isa, I decided to tackle the bison trail.

drrnrchr has been very busy since my last visit.
This trail of caches is a great addition to the local community.
Went out this afternoon for a few of these. Started by having a look at the dam.
Then i did the first 15 after that I was feeling too hot and I drove past some. Both saving those for another day and staying longer in the aircon.
Most finds were quick, spotted a pair from the car and some has me searching longer than expected.
Thank you for hiding this geocache drrnrchr

Out for a morning drive to Lake Moondarra and took the opportunity to grab a few caches on the way back, most were quick finds but a couple had us searching for a few minutes. If I were doing the trail on a bike I would not use the path as it is covered in places with loose gravel, a fallen tree or two, steep hill climbs and even a dead roo in the middle of the path,

Just 20 finds today. Our Oregon GPS has been returned to Garmin, and we're attempting "smart phone" caching. The slow response and strange compass behaviour of pointing away from GZ and counting up when you follow the arrow is taking a lot of getting used to. [:(!]
We've returned to log some more of the Bison Trail - and are doing it by car. Some of the logs will be out of order because a string of caches had suitable parking areas on the opposite side of the road.
Thanks for the hunt today, Ian got plenty of exercise jumping in and out of the car while Penny looked for nearby parking spots.
Regards
Ian & Penny

Start of an adventure, decided to do this series on our way back to SA. We had to delay our trip for a day so this was the best way that we thought. Thankyou for putting these out for our fun. Tftcsl
Staying in Mount Isa and after a hiccup yesterday with not having this new trail in the GPS and no phone service I returned todfay with that problem rectified.
It was an enjoyable trail and all had good coords, it was just my eyes that let me down a couple of times.
Caches were found and once the log was signed all was returned as found.
A great effort by the CO.

Headed out early to brace these, perfect weather to be out and about geocaching, TFTC
Started out early as a group to get these, legs were definitely hurting by the end and still had to walk all the way back, well worth a day out. TFTC
After completing the logs from yesterday, we notice the bison trail out towards the dam, so a plan was hatched to do them on the bike. Woke up this morning and it was a little cool and blowy again so we thought that we would drive past to see where we could park the car. We grabbed a couple on the way out and then decided that it would be easier today being a Sunday just to do them in the car.
A great little series, managed to claim 2nd to find from 2 to 24. Will now be able to do the town and outer areas tomorrow. A few of the caches were up to 10mtrs out, but with an easy widening of the search area, they were spotted.

Full time nomads heading to Birdsville for the Big Red Bash. Woo Hoo!
Today we headed out to attempt a few more caches around town. Glad it was a little cooler today. Being a local public holiday helped out with less traffic and even muggles about.
Accurate coords helped make for a swift find
