#23135 @1205Day 3 of an 8 day trip: Drive from Canberra to Melbourne, then by air to Flinders Island, Launceston, King Island, and back to Melbourne, then drive back home to Canberra. Today, I was targeting counties, preferring to also find caches with certain attributes (e.g. size) to help with various personal goals. Cache soon found. TFTC.According to [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC9CYGJ/61529 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") I qualified for this challenge 12 different month columns completed (1 needed).

Needing an unknown cache to fill a gap, I went in search of this cache . The finding device moved around a bit under the trees and building cloud it was hard to get in a logical place. Melbourne is putting on the sunshine yet again and it was too good to be at home. After a morning visit to see my niece, I teamed up with OzHockeyChick to find some caches out in the south east. Our last find for the day. Having found the nearest Cardinia exit locked, we took the long way to get here and began the lengthy search. Its always good to make a find after a DNF and as we were about to give up I spotted the cache. Luckily I checked as I was only about to sign my name in the book as I incorrectly assumed OzHockeyChick had already found this one. This was a real bummer Yesterday during our roadtrip we had quite the amazing time, seeing wild koalas and traveling over 500 kilometers across the country. Today we woke up in Warragul and our plan was to get relatively close back to Melbourne, though it wasnt necessarily our destination. I had planned our trip to head a little further north before returning to the big city to visit three stashes which would help us with our Jasmer grid, and we werent really in a rush to make it back to the city. Our day was nonetheless quite busy and ended delightfully in [an STF](https://coord.info/GL1BXAH1P); but more on that later. Just as we ended our geo-trip yesterday, we started our day with an unfortunate DNF but were already on the road for a while and rectified that a few times, next stopping by for this stash. The fifth stop of our day; we had just visited an awesome stash from this CO and came to this location. We parked by the side of the road and I was excited that we would finally visit our very first challenge cache in this country, a type of cache which I like very much. We do qualify for the challenge already, and started searching the area. We spent about 15 minutes searching under each tree stump, nook and cranny, under the trash and logs, but we just were not able to find it.Thats a real shame. Were working on our Jasmer and a couple of Australian caches helped us with it, though here we had to give up our search at 11:32 am and continue our drive. Hope it was just our blindness, and not that the container is actually missing. Either way, thank you Pinkpiggy7 for the listing, the idea, and for bringing us here.!

I was in the area for a great day caching with Snips and Co, and they pointed out this one nearby. I'd already been past twice as my goggle maps sent me to a locked gate for the reservoir, so I knew where it was. But actually finding it took way longer than I hoped and I needed to PAF. I qualify, with January, October and November fully filled. Next week I hope to get February filled too, fingers crossed.

Found it! Yay! Find 3,500! Peregrin has used Project-GC to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.It advised me, I have completed 1 different month columns of 1 required - November!!Filters:(minHiddenDate:2000-05-01, maxHiddenDate:2024- 2-26)I used drive through this roundabout twice a day for several years but not since this cache was published. Having recently found the one missing cache for November 2019, I currently qualify for this challenge. I imagine however that at the end 2024, I may not qualify if I dont find a cache that is yet to be hidden in November 2024! This could be a repeating theme for every year from now on!Anyhoo, we stopped by here about 2-3 weeks ago but I did not find it. I remember it was hot, with lots of passing traffic, we had a dinner engagement and some van decided to park right near GZ! So that put me off til this evening. So after work & before dinner we headed off to GZ. Starting my hunt from the car, I walked carefully to GZ and finally spotted a flash of blue between leaf litter in the shadow of an obvious hiding place. Yay! I found it! At home I noticed the CO had been to find the cache today too! Ships passing in the night! Or cars passing around roundabouts! Thanks for an achievable calendar challenge.

**27/02/2024, 11:02:00****Find #5721****Mystery Find #1087**Its always good to avenge a DNF. After an exchange of messages with the CO, PP7 confirmed what I had suspected in that I was simply cache blind. Today, it took me all of half a minute to find the very well hidden cache. I did in fact search the object where it is hidden during my first visit, but not thoroughly enough. [B)]I had qualified for this challenge the day it was published, but it has taken me until now to get up here. Red FaceThanks for your help, PP7. Now this is our kind of Jasmer challenge, probably the only one we will ever qualify for. Cache located and signed in Dec 22..this is a challenge cache that I've been plucking away at over the last 6 months .. I think the [Jasmer Challenge](https://geocaching.fandom.com/wiki/Jasmer_Challenge) is one challenge every challenge cacher should try to complete in their geocaching career, at least their countries version, aka the Ausmer Challeng, here in Australia.

The Jasmer Challenge as always been something I have wanted to complete some day, and every once in a while I will try and target a few caches in order to fill in my calendar grid.

Well on a recent caching trip up to Bendigo I was able to make a detour to find [Martiniz's](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?guid=6d55eb16-f7c7-46bc-b17d-847a235856d4&wid=1809c80e-f126-45c3-9411-58dcac70bb57&ds=2) [Mitchells Stop](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC277B_mitchells-stop) and finally fill in my last November month!

So although I still have a lot of months to fill in my Jasmer grid, I finally was able to qualify for this challenge!

Well of course I knew that I had to use this challenge to help me qualify for another challenge. So since I have been working on trying to qualify for [ahomburg's](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?guid=1ded3729-fe62-40bb-9f5f-fd559e7163b1&wid=54e007c1-391b-4f69-b6f2-af7b91887d92&ds=2) [WCW - A Challenge of Challenges (GC9Z5A3)](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC9Z5A3) I waited to find it until a day that it would fill in one of my missing dates.

So with needing to find a Challenge cache on the 28th, today was the day.

So after work I immediately hopped into the geomobile and made my way to GZ. I ended up just kind of pulling off on the side of the road near GZ. It was then a quick search before the cache was in hand and the logbook signed.

**Challenge Complete!**

Challenge caches have quickly become my favourite type of cache, and I like to give them favourite points when I can. Unfortunately, I am currently all out of favourite points, but when I earn another one I will be sure to come back and give this cache a well deserved favourite point!

A huge thanks goes to [Pinkpiggy7](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?guid=eaa1e02c-5a02-4542-b1ad-d2e429ced493&wid=aaabfeaf-5f25-4007-9527-2495e44f48ef&ds=2) for the fun twist on the classic Jasmer Challenge and for giving me an interim goal to work on as I try and tackle the completion of my actual Jasmer Grid

Glad to say we qualify for this challenge. A recent overseas holiday saw to that and made our grid look pretty handsome.

I needed to find a Challenge cache today for a challenge I am working on... and also a Virtual today for a different challenge that I have nearly finished... and that combination took me to Belgrave and then on to this cache. Fortunately by the time I got here the rain had passed... because I took much longer to find this cache than I should have and I would have been rather wet otherwise!

Thanks **Pinkpggy7** for this cache... a challenge that I have quite well covered.

Catching up on some late logs.
We have been looking at this cache for quite awhile but never seem to be in the are. Today needing a Mystery we headed up here to try our luck,
The phone was not playing nice today but after expanding our search we located the cache in a very likely location.
Many thanks Pinkpiggy7 for the Challenge and the hide.

Left with Mogni the day before Christmas to go down to Mount Gambier for Christmas Day. Then on the 27th left for Victoria. Plan A was to go to the Ottway Rangers, complete the Geo tour in Ballarat and then head to Geelong and take the Queenscliff ferry over to Sorrento then grabbing new LGA's on route to almost the New South Wales/Victoria border and the old 2001 cache near there. Also attending a community day event, a CITO and a couple of other events as well. Then head in to the high country and come back to SA in 11 days. Things didn't go to plan. Turns out that one of my almost new tyres was defective ( side wall blown out ) and blew in the ottway ranges on a narrow road in the rainforest, Drove to Melton to stay overnight and get a new tyre there, tyre machine broken and the other 5 tyre companies not open so off to geelong for a new tyre ( and some caches on the way and in geelong ) . The event we where going to attend in geelong didn't turn out, he was late by ALOT to his own event. Then to ballarat to same day since we had a b&b booked for the next few nights. Planned on getting the ferry at 1200 and ended up on the 400 pm ferry but we did attend a event and CITO in geelong. Then we drive into the rear end of a thunder storm with forecast 20 mm dropping for the next few days. Cancel the high country and change targets to letterbox D/T for fizzy grid only using letterboxes and same wirh the multi fizzy grid plus fizzy grid only using victorian caches plus any challenge caches we where near. Plus getting a few more victorian 2001 caches. And finally any caches that had 40 more more favourite points. Only got soaked to the bone for a couple of days but the water on the tracks was noticeable. On the return home tried to get the rest of the missing LGA's around the Melbourne CBD i missed in the last mega. Still a fun trip was had if not the planned one.

Someone suggested shenanigans, so we ended up doing a lap around the reservoir to pick up a few caches we had our eyes on.

With every month since March 2001 covered, and a couple placed in the previous year, I figured I'd probably qualify for this one.

Thanks, Pinkpiggy7. A neat challenge and a quick find.

A spare hour before school pick up in Officer, so time to grab some caches that for some reason or not, I haven't ever grabbed before.

I'm not sure when I checked that I qualified for this challenge, but I have it listed that I do. However, I noticed just then that as of mid last year I had October, November, February and March. However, with my lack luster caching performance over the last 6 months, I now have dropped November, February and March. Somehow, through an amzing streak of luck, I was able to find a cache placeed in October last year somewhere and I still manage to qualify for this challenge.

Whew...

Somehow we have managed to grab April caches from each year. Still 2-3 years missing for most of the other months.

Placed ink into the well-concealed logbook this afternoon. TFTC and challenge!

I've lost count of how many times I have driven right past this one. Surprised
I even hid my own cache just up the dirt road. [^]
Probably about time I rectified that shortcoming. Wink

Of the six available, I chose May because that's when it all began. Smile
Thanks Pinky.

Found at 11:31 am.
With forced holidays and 3 days of potential rain coming up I decided to spend a few hours today going for a drive finally finding a few puzzles I had solved during the many lockdowns. I traversed a lot of dirt roads today so the car really needs a clean, but that's not going to happen.
There was a bit of road work going on down the road but luckily I didn't need to disturb that and a short search soon had the cache in hand.

Finally. I've been wanting to get here to sign this log since the day the cache was published. Catnap777 and I got to add our names to it at 8:00pm on our way home from visiting Tank You and Devil Bend. Twisted

I Qualify for this one a couple of times over from 2000 and twice more from 2001. [^]
I have always been pretty keen on chasing Jasmer caches and wrapped that my partner has developed a taste for them too. Cool After revisiting some of the oldest with cat', we thought it was high time to stop by here and get our names on this log to earn reward for our efforts. Razz
Thanks for the challenge Pinkpiggy7. Big Grin

I found this cache today on my Cardinia Reservoir Loop Part 3. I found that I had qualified for this one 4 times over with Jan, Feb, Apr and Nov all good. Oct would have also been ok except that Oct 2021 (this month) is not there and no new caches are being released at the moment. The cache took a fair bit of finding but I eventually got there. Our 205th 4TF. Thanks from D B-A

FREE AGAIN, well, sort of Smile
Decided to go out to chase a couple of challenge caches this morning and tucked in just behind a rain band so I managed to stay nice and dry.
A nice quick find, cache container all good.

In reply to Archie b1 b2 yes this is possible in Victoria.

Is this possible in Victoria?
Sure.

But it relies very heavily on GC7A (OCT 00), GCAD (NOV 00), GC372 (FEB 01), GC47B (MAR 01), GC613 and GC6EC (APR 01) sticking around.

As for Australia, there are only 33 caches (including the aforementioned Victorians) that are still active from the first year's worth of months (May 2000 to April 2001).

Anything after that should be easy enough to find within Victoria, there aren't any other month gaps aside from those in the first year.

So if you don't want to travel abroad, don't bother with June, July or August (add December and January to the list if you don't see yourself leaving the state to complete this challenge), though do note that you'll need at least one of those 33 specific caches, depending on how far you're willing to travel.

It took me an hour before I noticed this new notification. A quick read and I groaned "Not another Challenge Cache". Then I read that it's an easier version of the Ausmer Challenge, a challenge that I am actively working on. Pleased to say that I have completed my January and February months of this Challenge.

Then I grabbed my car keys, said "FTF!" to my wife and heard her yell out "Good luck" as the car was starting. Soon I was parking in the great car park and was looking for the cache. Took a bit too long and I stabbed myself with 2 different branches, but then it was in my hands. Had to check every page just to confirm that I was first.

Thanks for the cache Pink Piggy 7
