Sadly I have to archive this cache as it has been destroyed. I spotted pieces of it thrown on the other side of the creek. The 2 trackables that are still checked in were not in there the last time I checked the cache in early August. Attendees of the Mega must have grabbed those back in April.
I am not going to replace this cache as there were too many issues with illegal dumping and snake skins in the past along this road stop.

Seen some locals scraping the ground found out they were after fruit?? Took nothing left nothing. TFTC
Found with The X-Trailers on last day in Townsville. Quick find but didnt sight any trackables. TFTC
Great Northern escape 2022 Day 85. Townsville second visit Day 5. I thought I would give the caches out in the north near where I am staying a go. This was a bad move. I only found 3 out 8 in the north sore district. I then moved across town picking up caches as I headed to the trackable Letter box. n the way home I did two short walks on the castle that I could not do due to burning earlier in the week.
This is why I came out this side of town. At least the answer was not too hard to uncover and apart from falling from the wrong container at first, found this well proportioned cache. It even had one TB to discover.
Thanks for the cache GC_Diver

Our last find for the day on our last day here in Townsville. Tomorrow we had West and as we drove back to our campsite at dusk, we stopped to collect to this one.
Have picked up the little red dinosaur travel bug to take further west.

I thought that while I was out this way that I’d have a look at this letterbox. Initial coordinates made no sense so I read the description. Fancy that, it comes in handy at times. . Having made it back on track, I sorted out the keyword and was offered the final coordinates. It helped me locate the cache, the log, flamingoes and a bit of other cool swag. A photo of Senna and an awesome painting of Slugger. For that alone makes this cache worth finding. Apparently large caches are few and far between so that’s a plus as well as a being a letterbox. What I didn’t find is the two trackables that were meant to be in here. Like most, they have vanished and the trail stops here. Maybe they will turn up elsewhere. Who can tell with these things. Nicely done GC_Diver.
We came late in the day, wow got eaten alive by mozzies . Signed log and ran back to the car..

We flew up from Western Victoria to Townsville last week for the Mega and stayed a few extra days to explore. Today was the last full day of our holiday, and the Forts Walk was our target location for the day.
After spending the day on Magnetic Island, we were delayed in getting back to the mainland by a ferry breakdown. We still had a few more "must-do" caches to find, however as sunset was not far away, we had to cut this list back, but this was one we managed to get. Nice to see a large cache, and a letterbox at that!

Love a large and a letter box... A large letterbox, that's great, FP!
Up to Townsville with GreyHams, timed well with a Mega and Maze and a lot of quality caching in the area to keep anyone busy for longer than the time we had! Counties were our primary focus, up to Cardwell and south of Mackay... a side trip out towards charters, we covered some distance in the 5 days away but saw so much.
Day 1 saw us arrive late in the day after a stop off in cairns, out towards Charters was a lovely drive with its drier scenery before back into the mega to catch up with friends and a Trivia night.
Day 2 was our Mega and Maze day. Lots of great quality and fun ALs on site, friendly people and a visit from the Mega's Easter Bunny for my chocolate egg! Even managed a refreshing squirt from a hose on one AL much to the amusement of those watching!!! Loved the escape room experience and then off north towards Cardwell for a little caching through more iconic north Queensland scenery.
Day 3 saw us walking the length of the strand, lovely historic area, lots of caching and great scenery to enjoy. A good solid morning in the area before boarding the ferry to Palm island, after the warm walk of the morning it was great to sit in the cold aircon with lunch, a cold drink and relax out on the water.
The visit to Palm Island was a beautiful location and very pleased to have had the opportunity to experience it. A calm relaxed trip across was a far contrast to the busy and rough trip back. Into the waves led to a wild and stomach churning bounce of the ferry as it made its journey back to Townsville, yet up top in the open wind and spray it was a wild and fun time!
Day 4 saw us driving south of Mackay for a letterbox trail. More iconic Queensland scenery as we drove, love all the cane fields, lush green and huge mountain ranges. The letter box trail was worth the drive, a lovely area and well put together and we even passed other Canberra teams along the road! Mackay offered lovely beach scenery, a step back into my childhood and a little adventure... plan 'F' payed off as it often does. The little town of Calen came to our rescue were the people were friendly and and the facilities and hotel worthy of stopping.
Day 5 and our last, the journey back towards Townsville with a few stops as we cached along, the heat kicked up a notch but the cars aircon matched it well! Up to Castle Hill and then our time was done and back to the airport and the trip home... Many thanks to the CO's for your caches that led us on another very enjoyable trip.

After attending the Mega event at Townsville over the Easter weekend, I found a few more local caches, including this one, before heading south on the long drive back to Adelaide.

This was our first for the day after attending the Mega. On arrival we met dandent who we had met at a cache yesterday. Thanks GC_Diver for the cache.
So pleased we managed to find this before it was archived. Sorry it took so long to log.
Unfortunately, this has taken nearly 12 months to log. Sorry to see that it has now gone. Thank you for when we found it.
#14138; Day twelve of the Townsville Mega adventure with Sol de lune. Spent the morning collecting caches close to our accommodation then working our way towards the racecourse for the Farewell event. After the event we set off for more caches, including a couple of waterborne caches with the Southern Caching Group (SCG). This was the first stop for Sdl and I after the event. Signed the log and retrieved some TBs only to find they had been dropped off by another Canberra cacher. Trekking Trev turned up just as we were leaving too! TFTC GC_Diver
We had finished The Saint series and then headed off with alansee, geortle37, Papi4506 & The Morris picking up a few more caches on our way back to town
We came passed this one on the map and then had to find a way of getting to it. Fortunately this wasn't too difficult and we were soon walking towards gz following the needle. Once there some went high, some went low and the cache was located after the search began. Once we gained entry we all added our name to the log and took some pictures to discover a couple of travel bugs before replacing everything as it was.
We signed the log as PATT
Many thanks GC_Diver for the much larger than expected container.

On our way to Mega central with time to spare before it opened. No worries... time to find a few caches. emilywanders was already here so we found the cache together. TFTC GC_Diver. Took Photo Bug Travel Bug that had just this minute arrived at the Hotel.
The last cache for Ghostgums and I today after what was quite a full day, including a rund down to Charters Towers. I had not picked up that the listed coords were not GZ, so was confused when we arrived in an open space as GZ, but that was quickly corrected and we were soon off to the final location. [^]
Once there, a very obvious container was spotted and retrieved by GG. He did the logging honours as I dropped a TB into the box. All done, everything was returned and we headed off.
Cheers GC_Diver.

With great excitement we headed to Townville for the for the first FNQ Mega - we were very curious to see how much it had changed since we lived there pre-caching.
After finishing off The Saint series this morning a smaller group of us headed off to Mt Stuart to see if we could find a few there.
Thanks for contributing to the fun GC_Diver

27,778. Found with minniek during our Grand Townsville Trek up to CacheQLD's Townsville Mega Event over Easter.
Day 10 of our Townsville Trek, and we were having a ball caching around Townsville ! Today was another big day. After the morning's CITO, we got stuck into finding more caches. A lot were pre-solved puzzles, a couple of interesting Earthcaches, and some fun / difficult Trads along the way. This one was a nicely placed Letterbox Hybrid - a cache type I particularly enjoy finding. Quick find at GZ and a fun retrieval ! Signed the log, replaced the cache as found, then headed off to the next one on our list.
Thanks burgo78 !!

Found as part of the Qld Cache mega event weekend in Townsville over Easter 2022. Joined forces with Gunnie69 after flying up from Brisbane to tackle a variety of caches around the Townsville area including three GeoArt series, other puzzles and a few labs! I would like to thank all the cache owners who are making this an enjoyable weekend!
Today we trekked out along the Flinders Highway to the historical town of Charters Towers. Enjoyed some of the sights, old buildings, occasional wildlife and of course lunch at a local pub!
A smiley has been added to the cache!

Day 10 of our trek to the Townsville Mega and back with fitzy_1965 and two of my geo-kids Death_killer & my_name_jeff_1.
The last true day of the Mega saw us heading to the CITO first then caching around the city before the Farewell Event at lunch. We arrived at the CITO around 8am to find the place deserted. Turns out all the trees had been planted and everyone has left. We came across a few other cachers and all picked up some rubbish together so we could say we made a contribution to the area. We toured around part of the Jezzine Brarracks before making our way to the event. Afterwards, we teamed up with some others to pick up some nice types and D/T’s before ending our day back to Castle Hill which was conveniently near our accommodation.
All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned. Thanks to all the CO’s.

Came by with Tankengine and Youban on the way to the Farewell Event at the Mega and dropped a few TBs off. When we arrived there only seemed to be one in the co Rainer though. Someone hopefully has taken the others and will “grab” them soon.

Day 12 of the road trip to Townsville to with LuckyL10n and today all about the caches around town.
We started off near our hotel in Aitkenvale and drove out in ever increasing circles finding a cache as we went. At 1200 it was time to head back to the mega site for the farewell event and BBQ.
We arrived a GZ and started our search. Once we found a TOTT was required, we retreated to the car and grabbed it After that it was up up and away and I soon had the cache in hand. Log was signed and then it was back to terra frima.....

Out with Tankengin and dty73 on a trip to the mega stopped off at this one to drop off some new residents then on to the big top. Kutgw
During the Easter long weekend, it was all about the Townsville Mega event! Highlights included a hike at Cape Pallarenda Conservation Peak, walks atop the local mountains of Mount Stuart, Castle Hill, and Mount Louisa, checking out a few shady spots along Ross River, sewer pipe / tunnel adventures, and a scuba dive to see the Museum of Underwater Art at John Brewer Reef. The Mega events themselves were fantastic: Gadget lab caches, GPS maze, trivia night, tree planting CITO, and Cal's Escape Room. There was also plenty of geocaching to be had, such as power trailing through the geoarts The Saint and the Book, and the collection of challenge caches at Bushland Beach mudflats. My view of Townsville had completely changed from my trip experience, and much kudos to the Cache Qld Townsville Mega Committee.
A simple letterbox hybrid puzzle that was solved prior to this weekend.
We stopped here following the completion of The Saint. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. We decided to sign the geocache as Team 150 to save space in the logbook. Thanks GC_Diver for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

**This Cache:**
What a great spot for a Large TB Hotel Letterbox! That's if you knew there was a rest area here and the maps you were using didn't know it existed, oops!
We ended up parking on the highway and walking back towards the cache, it was halfway that I was thinking how odd this was for a TB Hotel, and started reading the description and realised there was an access road below us...! A parking coordinate might help for future silly people like myself!
We still managed to get to GZ from above and found the great sized cache with no trouble at all, oh it was also 9:42pm at night, so that didn't help with our directions being a bit hazy
Thanks GC_Diver!

**Today:**
Day 12 of my road trip from Canberra - Townsville Mega Event!
**Found with sebass19**
Today we had a FULL day of caching! 32 cache finds, but some of the toughest we had done so far.
The first cache was found at 7:50am, but we had already done a supermarket visit and climbed halfway up a mountain for it. The last find was at 10:45pm at night. The only time I stopped during this period was about 1-2 hours during the Community Celebration / Trivia event for dinner! Exhausted is an understatement, but we found some of the best and most rewarding caches I have done! Thank you!

An early start today with a lot of caches on the agenda, chamad and I set off. We stopped in here and looked around for a while and realised we had missed a step. Doing what needed to be done, we changed our search area and quickly had the cache in our sights.
Log signed, I dropped a German TB here which I thought was very fitting for a German CO.
Thanks GC Diver for the cache and providing the TBs a stop over.

The day had come; the plan to get 150 caches (excluding labs) in a day for another challenge was here. The planning and prep started two months ago when I was at the Wangaratta mega. With the recent zoom events for puzzle solving a big help and the Geoarts of the saint and the book catering for two thirds of the task, it was just a matter of finding 50 more caches so as I was able to complete. Today I had Willis007 with me; we picked on a few quick easy finds as we were passing and motoring between arts. We then grabbed the bikes and went for a ride around along the Ross river parkway or is that power trail.
The Geoarts were found easy and thank you. The book art did slow us down a little with some hides a little tuff to find. the power trail was fun some good caches and some that also slowed us down. However, by the end of the day we were done and the challenge completed.
Thanks to my caching buddies, the CO’s for the caches and the great areas I got to see today.
It is nice to find a large container, it is even better when it is a letterbox,

I flew up to Townsville yesterday with SnappyTomCats. I looked forward to chatting up with geo-buddies and finding some caches.
We made our way to GZ & found another caching team there, Eskies5 who had uncovered the treasure. I dropped a couple of TB's but these were taken from my inventory before I got a chance to log them. They must be on their way for more Adventures.

Grabbed as we were going past. What a large cache you have!!!

This cache was found as part of a trip with GoosenEgg and Stainless Steel Rat to Far North Queensland for the Townsville Mega. The trip started in Cairns and ended in Mackay, and allowed us to find some ripper caches inbetween.
We managed to complete some of the Breaking Bad cache series until we driven back to the car due to the heat, and the Saint and most of the book series. There were some good variety in both these series which kept them interesting.
One of the highlights (although a low light when removing the mud) was the walk on the salt flats outside Townsville to get the challenge caches
Another highlight was Magnetic island, where other than some great views, we managed to spot two koala's in the wild.
Thank you for placing and maintaining this cache that was part of our trip

We drove pretty close to this cache stopping just short. After a bit of left and right it became obvious where the cache was. Not quite what I was expecting (a German letterbox??) but more than happy to log this TB hotel.
Thanks GC_Diver
A ten day mega trip was arranged with Stainless steel rat and Budgietas. We flew into Cairns and out of Mackay, with the majority of the time in and around Townsville. We found a huge variety of caches and although our find count was a little lower than we would have liked, some of the high D/T caches more than made up for that. I really appreciate the effort of the local COs and all the people involved in hosting the mega and associated activities. I enjoyed catching up with many of our caching buddies, and make some new ones too!
Thanks for a great mega trip!

Thanks for a great mega trip!
Friday was our 6th day in Queensland and today the main target was the Saint Series of puzzles, we also fitted in a few other caches at the start and end of the day.
This was my first Mega trip in a while now, I had planned to go to the last one in Wangaratta but concerns about COVID made me pull out at the last minute. For this one it was a trip with BudgieTas and GooseandEgg landing in Cairns on the Sunday where we collected a few caches in the dark before driving down to Townsville on the Monday collecting a select few caches along our very indirect route.
While in the Townsville we made the best of our time collecting a few series of caches and searching for some of the older caches on offer, some with lots of favourite points or something we thought maybe a bit different, along with all that we got to go to all the Mega events and meet up with cachers old and new, spending Thursday with Greg going round Magnetic Island and a bit of time with the Davinells who went out of their way to welcome the Tasmanians to Queensland.
All to soon it came to an end and we drove down to Mackay on the Monday again collecting caches along the way before flying home on the Tuesday Morning.
Thanks for the warm (sometimes too hot) welcome Queensland until next time!
Thanks for the cache.

Caching with MACKTEAM (sometimes team mack) today which comprised of Barrod, Coral-sea-cat, Tmack61. Bliss Baby, Van Demons Lad, Geogirl4740, and me..
Fun was had all round with lots of laughs, blood drawn, TOTT used, km traveled.
I'm not sure the cops with their hair dryer thought we were doing here ( as we slowed down to turn in front of the), we cruised in and down past them on a mission
dropped in 2 grabbed 2

We weren’t really sure how to access the parking safely from the road, but it was super easy and we followed the dirt track to within a 20m walk from the cache hide.
While we didn’t take any trackable, we did add our name to the logbook.
Thanks for the puzzle and the hide.

Day 8 of our Mega road trip. Found on the way to the Mega this afternoon. I rarely move TBs anymore but decided I’d do my part in helping one along. I chose the smallest TB but didn’t check its mission until we got back to our unit. Turns out it was only recently released in Toowoomba and this was its first drop since! We are from Toowoomba - was going to take it south…now will have to reassess and find a safe place to further its adventures. Snappy Tom Cats & heywalker arrived just as we were about to replace everything. TFTC
Day 2 of our Townsville Mega event weekend. Out and about with hevwalker we spent most of the day at GZ doing gadget Labs, Escape rooms and socialising!..The rest of the day we managed to do a few more AdLabs and traditional caches Arrived here to find Eskies5 who was in the process of replacing the cache so basically an easy find! TFTC.
Found on our way to the welcome event after a long days caching the saint and locale. Swapped a few TBs .
Townsville Mega - Day 3

It's Good Friday. We are out and about for the MEGA Event.
As I grew up in Germany, I had no problem to answer the question.
I dropped a Marsrover TB an took a little figure.

Like all geocachers, I’m taken the scenic, slow route to Townsville. This was one of our first caches in Townsville itself!
Thanks for placing the cache GC_Diver, without hiders the game wouldn’t exist.

Our first day in the Ville after arriving late last night and with a plan to conquer The Saint this was our first stop…
With TMZ59 at the wheel of the Habanero Sport, Patrol14 in front and Imbunda refusing to “pull my finger” in the back seat it’s another day of the Tour de Ville…
It’s a bit hotter than I’d like… but this cache finalises a crazy pilgrimage challenge as it’s our first find in Townsville…
A great sized TB Hotel with some guests as well…
Tftc… Log signed as Tour de Ville - TIPP ??

Day 4 of our trip north to Townsville for the MEGA Event with TMZ59, Patrol14 and Peppa this was our first stop for the morning. Lots of traffic passing by but they couldn't see what we were doing. Peppa and Patrol14 did the honours and retrieved the cache. Log was signed and our books were stamped before replacing the cache as found. TFTC

Fourth day of our trip to Townsville for the MEGA and we (Peppa, TMZ59., Imbunda and I) have arrived and settled into our accommodation. Today we have a few targetted caches before hitting the Saints series.
This was the first one and after parking nearby found the cache quickly. Checking out the tb's before signing the log. Returned as found.

Found at 13.04pm after a stressful arrival to Townsville. After a 2hour plus queuing at Tullamarine to drop our bags off, as the system kept spitting peoples bags back at them, we arrived but my luggage didn't.
This morning it was off to buy essentials and praying that my luggage arrives on this evenings flight. I will say our motel was excellent and gave us a late checkout at no charge, as was the shuttle bus driver last evening who should have finished for the night, but came back to the airport to pick us up after we had waited in another long queue to report missing luggage.
Now we can do what we came here to do - cache. We stayed in the city overnight and moved out this way for the next week. A quick solve and on to GZ for a quick find of a sizeable cache. Glad to get a smiley and push all our anxieties aside for a while.

We have arrived in Townsville for the Mega over Easter. We have a few days to play around the area. So we have headed off to grab a few well chosen caches and this is one of them. In the Habinaro Sport there is Tour de Ville comprising patrol14, Imbunda, Peppa and I. Log signed as TdV. Thanks for the cache. ??????
Found by Mary and David at 11:40 on our drive from Bowen to Townsville. A fairly easy find. Took "Follow Me Wherigo Geocoin","Friendship Tag", "Captain Elliot A-haaa", and "Gingerbread Geocache Tag" trackables, dropped off 3.trackables. Our thanks to GC_Diver.
