After walking down to Anson Bay beach, which is a beautiful spot and not to be missed while on Norfolk Island and then attending the NI GeoAdventure - Anson Bay event on the hillside above as the sun began to set we heard our dinner calling from Burnt Pine and began the drive 'home'. We had seen this beautiful forest area on the drive out and now with the light diminishing it looked very eerie. We jumped out of our little cars and all rushed over to search. Soon had CIH, LS and were off again, just time for one more.TFTC # 6008

T-Tech and I are visiting Norfolk Island for our 40th anniversary. We arrived from Brisbane and are staying for 2 weeks at Endeavour Lodge, and plan to get some R&R, see all of the sites, learn the history, and gather every cache here so we can claim the Se Dun Challenge Today we headed up the north-west coast to Anson Bay. Heading south again after the walk down to the beach and we visited the 3 caches in Selwyn Reserve. T-Tech made a quick find here. TFTC, mrandmrschosen1978.

During July my wife and I took a break from Melbourne and spent a wonderful week on the Island - the first time for me (but hopefully not the last) and the second for her. Such a delightful place! I took my GPSr, with the traditionals downloaded (I don't really make the time to do puzzles or multis) and figured I would find a few as we went around the place. I never had any intention of finding all 41 of them, but somewhere around day 5 I realised it was actually feasible.
In the end it was a close call - one quite tough-to-get-to cache (Bird Island) I had to visit twice after not reading the description before my first visit and discovering it is really a multi and then stuffing up the calculations so I had an almost blind search for the cache; another (St Barnabas) was out of its hidey hole so took three visits before I found it among some fallen leaves nearby). But I got there and managed to claim them all.
In the interests of saving the limited data on my phone, I only look placeholder drafts during the week and am completing them back home, a month later. So with all due apologies, they are going to be pretty generic for the most part. But I will add comments about those that I particularly remember. No matter how detailed the final logs, I want to say a big thanks to those who have placed the caches and those who continue to maintain them. I had great fun finding them and they really helped make sure I saw as much of the Island as possible. So - a big and sincere TFTC

This one took a couple of visits (basically I tried, gave up but with no actual intention of ultimately giving up, and went off to Fishermans Lane before returning for another crack). I think I just over thought it or something the first time and checked all sorts of unlikely places. On my return I honed in on a more likely spot and managed to find the two caches. I duly signed both.

Exploring the North West corner of NI today stopped on our way to the Captain Cook monument to find this cache. TFTC
Saw two pieces of Velcro on a tree and thought that the cyclone had ripped away the cache. Eyes still peeled as I was leaving, saw a normal looking cache. Signed it and then saw a second signed that one as well. Great spot tftc
A quick find, a drive by in fact. The cows in the nearby paddock were certainly enjoying the very green grass. Thanks for the hide.
Finding this one became a family affair. One of the muggles spotted a second container at the location, we couldn't tell the difference so we signed both. A mistake or a mystery yet to be solved? Unsure. TFTC

Day 3 on the Island and still fighting the elements. A heavy fog abounds and the ground is ultra slippery.
We managed 18 caches and a few stages of the Lookouts Adventure Lab caches today.

Having walked around town and had coffee with my muggle friends this morning, it was time to get caching.
I had planned a route heading north so set off after dropping my friends back at our accommodation.
This was my first find and the caching gods were looking after me as it was an extremely quick find and sign. Cache was replaced and I was off to the next one which was an AL.
Thanks for the cache NZ Geotrip 2021 and for maintaining it endeavour3.

On 15 October 2022 a new batch of prisoners were shipped out of Brisbane to spend 7 days incarcerated on Norfolk Island. It has now been 4 nights and and countless days into their sentence at Ocean Breeze Cottages.
The cache blocking guards informed the caching prisoner that solo day release had been approved for this day.
Unfortunately time was running short an the prisoner was not able to venture out to the cliff face.

Back on Norfolk and updating my Traditional cache finds. My GPS batteries were going flat, so had to stop, turn it on, check, turn it off, drive closer and repeat. When I was 20m away I saw the likely place and found it (or them?) without the GPS running. I love this reserve, and will return for sunset photos while I'm here. TFTC
Parked nearby and made our way back to GZ. Accurate coords made for a quick find. TFTC endeavour3.
Find Number 2500 found at 13:58. Today we found 6 caches and 2 lab caches. We had 2 DNF's.
The second day of our Norfolk Island Holiday. Today we took the Pitcairn Settlement tour in the morning and drove around the Island, caching the afternoon
I followed the GPS and searched in lots of wrong places looking for the wrong thing. Then I read some previous logs, ignored the GPS, searched where I would expect to find it, and foune it
The cache was in good condition. We took nothing, left nothing, signed the log and replaced the container as found
Thanks mrandmrschosen1978 for the cache.

Time to head to Norfolk Island to celabrate our 70th birthdays. When we were here before we were not geocachers, this visit will be spent gathering geocaches and revisiting our favourite places. Our appologies for the generic logs it does not take away the enjoyment we have found in the fantastic places athey have been placed and all the different styles of caches that we are enjoying,

After finishing a walk through the National Park, we decided to just grab a few of the stragglers on the island. Had a nice drive visiting all the roads and beautiful places on the island!
The structure on which the cache used to be on has been removed and replaced with a newer structure. We messaged endeavour3, who maintains the cache, and we organised for us to go and pick up a container and hide it on the new structure. Came back today and found a hide on the structure. DT and coordinates are still the same as before…

We were disappointed with a DNF yesterday here, so contacted the CO who kindly supplied a replacement container for us to install, as he couldn't get back out here for a bit. We have rehidden it today - it's a stylish, wiry hide, existing coords should be fine....

How’s that for a Geocaching team effort? Endeavour3 assisted with hardware, Lee and Samuel reset the hide, after the recent stile upgrade. Mr Chosen might have to update the description for the new walkers entrance
