Beach Hut
New Hampshire, USA
Mr. Seeker lived in England during high school, and was always intrigued by the "beach habits" of the British, particularly their fascination with the "beach hut." Since then, we have kept our eyes open for a beach hut here in New England, and we have seen quite a few, but never when we had both the camera and GPS with us. Now that all locationless caches will be archived at the end of 2005, it appears that we will never be able to log a find for this cache.
We're sorry to see this locationless cache archived. Even though we haven't logged a find for this cache, it has encouraged us to keep our eyes peeled when at the beach. We wanted to post this note to publicly thank the cache owner for this locationless cache. Thanks for your work in having maintained this cache.

Eastons Beach, Newport Rhode Island. The beach huts have been rebuilt and raised...and upgraded a bit, but they are still used as beach huts!
close to where we live is a place called preston sands near paignton it is a very popular location for holiday makers and day trippers in the summer the beach huts go right along the front but by the picture you can see they are stored up until next year they are also all painted white so next years occupants can paint them there own garish colours
Well i don't know much about the beach but i do know that it did belong to USN at one point in time. There are about eight beach huts left on 2nd beach in middletown R.I. I seem to recall there being more then that at one point.
Beach Hut in the jungle. watch out for the crocs...

Where did all the beach huts go?
Llanbedrog, between Pwllheli and Abersoch in North Wales.
In May 2004 we went to a wedding, and there were a whole row of colourful beach huts (see photo 1)
On returning in December 2005 the beach was empty (see photo 2).
A quick search found 61 of them them at N 53 51.315 / W 004 28.892 (see photos 3 & 4) in the National Trust Car Park (they must move them there for safe keeping in Winter)

The hut was originally located in the Los Angeles beach area, now known around the world as Venice Beach. The carved grafiti on the hut dates back to 1894! The hut is now located in a railway museum near Perris, CA in Riverside County.

Driving back from some traditional caching, found this small beach hut along the shore of the large Lac Aylmer near Garthby, Quebec, Canada. The lake is almost 10 miles long. This hut is in a small bay, about 2 miles in diameter, called Baie Ward. It is just visible through the trees on property closed for the season. It's already below freezing in Quebec, with a bit of snow on the ground, so this hut will not be of much use until at least May.
The original huts do not exist anymore (with the wheels on them.) These huts can be found on the Muizenberg Beach outside Cape Town, South Africa.
I could find this nice colored one at a water attraction park in Brupark, Brussels, Belgium : www.oceade.be
(it was indeed a real "challenge" to find a beach hut at this place!)

Many places along the Oslo fjord you can find these beach huts. This one is from Malmøya south east of Oslo, Norway (and is not the from the same location as geocacher Hunden Hera posted a find). Malmøya is a small island that is a nature reserve due to special geological formations.
Lurking in the mist of Portland bill. These beach huts are at what can be a very bleak location.
This is a beach hut in Diepoldsau, Switzerland. It is situated on a lake which is built where the Rhine was flowing before the regulation beginning of the 20th century.
A cold day on the Noordzee. I was assured by my friend GJ (holding the gps) that it really does get warm enough to swim here.
There are beach huts up and down the Atlantic coast ... found these two while caching in Myrtle Beach, SC. TFTC!
Another clutch of beach huts along the long beach from West Cliff (Bournemouth) to Hengistbury Head. This is a small group on a slightly higher level than the others. Probably newer since they are all identical where the other groups have all aged differently.
Found this beach hut at the Bore beach, outside Stavanger, Norway. Bore beach is one of many sand beaches in the region. The landscape here is famous for all the long and beautiful sand beaches.
Not sure that this has been done before - there is one in Worthing but co-ords are different. Passed this row of huts while doing 'Seafront Gardens' cache. I recalled this particular virtual cache so marked the co-ords and took a photo of my colleague who was holding the Garmin etrex GPS. Due to the time of year these huts were not in use - there were a quite a few and we were standing next to hut number 39, and of course these are found on the seafront at Worthing.

In Vienna, Austria, the Alte Donau (Old Danube) is one of the popular swimming places for the people of the city. There were many huts around that lake, witch used to be a arm of the Danube river. Now most huts are larger, so people can stay overnight. Other areas there are closed of now and turned into "beach bathing places" with hygienic facilities, where we pay entrance fee. These houses on the photo are used privately now.

This is a Beach Hut located by table-top rock in Laguna Beach, California. It is used to watch beach volleyball.
I was on the beach in santa barbara this weekend and this was right next to me! thanks!
Sorry for the late posting, I just got around to getting a roll of old fashioned my film developed.
These beach huts are located on the ST. Nicolas end of the Island of Aruba. They are just beyond the area known as the grape fields where many rock climbers congregate.

I hope that this log is acceptable. My son Mark (FullOak) and I were on a sailing examination in the Plymouth area having just sailed up from Falmouth. As we tacked into Cawsand bay prior to entering the Plymouth breakwater I spotted these beach huts at Kingsand. I got a quick photo of the yacht's GPS and a picture of the huts. We could not get much closer because of the shallow water and I am afraid the camera is not a very good one - well do you blame me with all that salt about! I had been looking for some nice beach huts for ages and as the year is nearly over these will have to do for now. The area is right at the eastern end of Cornwall on the south coast and beautifully sheltered from the prevailing westerlies. I have never been there by road but used to take the children there by boat on summer holidays because the sand is just right for Dad's & Lads to make sand castles and splash in safety. I used to love beach huts when I was young but that was in Kent. No Egwin's on this beach though except in Winter. Thanks for the Cache idea, Paul.
These beach huts are on boulders Bay, Cape Town, South Africa.
The beach is so small there is only room for 2 huts, one of which is out of order.
The beach is also a penguin reserve, when hundreds of african penguins live. You can relax on the beach and swim with the penguins! A great treat. Not sure how the hut system works though?

These huts are at Saltdean on the south coast of England. Saltdean gap used to be one of the many landing places for smugglers along this part of the coast with quiet tracks in to the back of Rottingdean, just a mile or so to the west.
The huts are the same design as those already logged at Rottingdean. I would agree that they are ugly - but very popular nonetheless.

We found this "Beachhous" of "Bregenz am Bodensee"in Austria. This huts is private.
These beach huts are located in Castiglione della Pescaia, a very nice place in Tuscany, on the Thyrrenian sea, close to Grosseto, Italy
These beach huts are located at St.Agnes in Cornwall and have been there as long as I can remember.T4TC
I found these beach huts in Sorrento when on a caching expedition in the Mornington Peninsular, Victoria, Australia. They are a dying art in Victoria. There are examples in Brighton, a suburb of Melbourne (logged by Muzza on 11 January 2004)--as far as I am aware, they are the only beach huts in metropolitan Melbourne. However, the Mornington Peninsular includes examples at McCrae (logged by GeoWombats on 5 January 2005), Dromana (logged by Sikma on 28 September 2004), Rye (logged by Biggles Bear on 18 September 2004), Safety Beach (logged by Mr Coffee on 29 June 2004), and Blairgowrie (logged by Team Crackers on 25 April 2004). This log must just about be the last of them, although there might be some more at Rosebud.
Found this hut among several on a lovely sunny afternoon whilst walking along the East Devon coast by the town of Budleigh Salterton.
Found this nice hut at Middle Lagoon, at Beagle Bay, Cape Levique, North Western Australia. Spent a few days here and it is absolutely beautiful! Thanks for the cache.
In Melbourne, Australia there is the bayside area of
Safety Beach and some of the original beach huts
of the peninsula.
The History of these beach huts and the area is
well known to myself. As the son of a life saver and
top swimmer my mother taught me to swim at this very
beach 43 years ago. The original name of this beach
was Shark Bay because of the shark breeding area
200 yards off shore. it's name was changed in the
1950's to attract tourists and swimmers hence a name
change to Safety Beach. The beach huts have been
here since the early 1900's according to my mothers
stories, and although many have perished over the
years the ones standing today have been restored
and painted. In the 1960's most were painted pink,
pale green and green and white striped
(to my memory aged 5). most people back then
used to store small sailing boats, paddle boards
and umbrellas.
Regards
Mr.Coffee Ian

Kathryn and I found this beach hut on the Sanur beach on the island of Bali in Indonesia, just outside our hotel grounds. The hut is used for storage of mats at night, but during the day, it is used for storage of personal items and appears to also be used for relaxing body massages and manicures / pedicures, though you can have it out of the hut (by the swimming pool) as well.
These Beach Huts are on Mt. Martha Beach, about an hours drive south of Melbourne. The beach is situated on Port Phillip Bay, the same as Brighton Beach as reported by Alan-san. There used to be many beaches on the bay having beach huts, but now, there are only a few left.
