Thanks for the find, who would have though walking around endlessly in the middle of the forest at night would lead to finding a cache. My two year old cousin struggled to reach it
All in good nick here, both in terms of container and logbook. Third find of todays morning jogging meander through Aranda. Another niche flag but interesting to learn about and visually compelling. Thanks DARKSIDEDAN for the hide and series .--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------In the spirit of reconciliation we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country on which we geocache throughout Australia and their long lasting, and ongoing connections to land, sea and community. Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. All logs have been signed as WAC to save space, abbreviation for Western Australia Crew. Cheers DARKSIDEDAN! Join us in Augusta, in Western Australias South West, for WA Goes Big 2024 (GCAGV8Y) on Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September. Log your will attend now!
Massive caching days continue. My online logs do not match with days found simply because I cant keep up with online logging sorry. My alliance of 5 all from WA are three young fit boys and two less young ladies who try to keep them honest. We have been up trees and ladders way more than I like and, like all geocachers who insist on wearing shorts in hot weather, our legs are ripped to shreds from hiking. Logging WAC since the three boys usually cache with a fourth called the Cockburn Crew based on their LGA. Having an almost totally cleared map locally, its difficult to explain the excitement of having a map that has caches literally everywhere. Ive cached in Canberra once with my partner and also at the Queanbayen mega but theres still so many to find. Long days and during the few hours allocated to sleep Im so sore I barely sleep anyway. Thanks so much for your contribution to making the days so exhausting and enjoyable. Much appreciated!
Day 6 of my Canberra Mega Adventure. An early start to caching today, met up with several other WA teams. Logs signed as WA. TFTC
Out and about again, headed around Canberra for the MEGA. Super excited my first MEGA and heading over with 2 others from the Cockburn Crew - signed log as WAC to save time. This is 14491, hoping to clock over the 15,000 finds in the week in New South Wales and ACT.Thanks to DARKSIDEDAN for the caches we found.********** ********** ********** ********** ********** **********OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024********** ********** ********** ********** ********** **********Head over to Australian Capital Territory for Capital GeoBash MEGA - Canberras first ever Mega Event. The Cockburn Crew are on tour at the Capital Geobash in Canberra - travelling from Perth to Sydney, Canberra, Sydney and finally back to Perth.Today was day 2 and we had an absolute blast. After being up late last night we backed it up again this morning with an early start to make the most of the cooler weather and lack of muggles in the morning cold. We completed a huge number of trails, challenges, whereigos, traditional, multis, earthcaches, labs, virtuals and puzzles. It really was a great day for variety. We enjoyed the large number of virtuals, and caching in territory we havent been before. Weve filled our boots with some of the oldest caches in Australia, some rare DTs and DTTs and generally had a great time. Thanks to the COs for a great day and event. Logs signed as part of team WAC (WA Crew)
A controlled burn here a couple of years ago got rid of a lot of the rubbish undergrowth (= scratch & thorny) and this is now a very pleasant and shady area to walk. TftC.
1st of 4 found today. After a paddle on the lake, I still needed to do something active, so headed out here for a little bit of a wander. FFP was very patient while I cached, she waited. In the shade. It was getting warm in the uphill sections. A few choices to consider on the wander in from the track but was a very quick find. The logbook is damp but not too bad.TFTC DARKSIDEDAN and the anchovy.
A pleasant walk through Aranda Nature Bushland Reserve today enjoying the nice weather - thanks to the recent burn off in the area it was an easy walk to the cache. Lovely to see the wattle trees in bloom.
Billie the wonder dog was far more interested in keeping tabs on the choughs! tftc
Found whilst out and about with fitzy_1965.
Fitzy wanted to fill a calendar date so we went and collected a few caches.
All found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned.

32,296. Found with minniek during an afternoon's wandering around Canberra filling in another caching day.
Another day we needed caches for a self-imposed Challenge. With minniek not up for big walks, we chose a couple of easy ones today. The trails around here are really nice to walk around. It's also great that there are so many caches to use as an excuse to come out here. Parked at the gate and wandered in and up for a nice quick find. Stamped the log, replaced the cache as found, then headed off to the next cache on our list.
Thanks DSD !! Nice to see some green amongst the black.

Back out again today after finding 13 caches yesterday. Easy to get to as there has been some fires in the area so no bush bashing required.

With so much recent burning off around this bushland, we were concerned in advance that this one may be missing. However, the recent burn off made our walk into GZ very easy, and the cache has survived the fire.

Day #1 of 2 [7/5/23]
With four geo-events in Canberra, I decided on heading over to join with some of the fun. Unfortunately, I couldn’t join in with the Saturday events. However, that didn’t stop me with the fun and very wet Sunday events. On my way over to Canberra, I found two caches along the way. Next was breakfast at Macca’s before heading off to the CITO. A different type of CITO to attend. Next, I did some caching around Aranda Bushland to find some of the caches around the area. Morning Tea went down a treat and before the lunch time event a group of us went and found a couple of caches. Then the rain and hail came down which made getting to the lunchtime event interesting. A nice fun and wet Star Wars day event before heading off to the next set of caches with another small group of us. Toy Hunters, Sebass19 and myself then headed off to lunch and afterwards parted ways. Due to the amount of rain over the afternoon, I decided not to head out again for more caching.
TB visit on all found caches. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found, for allowing them to bring enjoyment to the Geocaching community. TFTE’s and TFTC’s!

The controlled burn has left this one intact but also a bit easier to find.
Cache was found quickly barren landscape was cool to walk through.

A quick ride from home and a short walk from the path to get this one. In the obvious spot. TFTC.
Felt antsy after spending most of the day at home working and wanted to get out with the nice weather today. Choose Aranda as it wasn't far and a pretty walk in the Bushland.
Was a bit worried about the presumed bush bash to get here given all the flowers etc. turns out there was a path from the nearby flags cache to the north part way to GZ I could follow.
Quick find at GZ. A bit of water in the container (not sure how that gets in there) but log nice and dry in its zip look bag.
Thank you DARKSIDEDAN for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

#3053 As I had finished my day in Cook it was high time I returned to clear out a few more of these that had been published since my previous onslaught here. All found in good condition. Logged and replaced as found. Thanks DSDAN!
#1193 Finished work for the day in Belconnen so communicated with Turtle to meet up at the nearby carpark. Still plenty of caches for me to find in here so this definitely won’t be my last visit. Followed the track for a bit, bush bashed for a bit, crossed a gully, passed another track and eventually reached GZ. Another good DSD find, another flag of the world to add to the collection. Thanks for hiding this one!
More kangaroos around here and lots of little birds - Fairy-wrens, Thornbills, Scrub-wrens as well as Rosellas.
Also a marked tree. Coolamon? Border Mark? Looks pretty crude.

Another quick find. Cache and log are good. I left a very sparkly, butterfly brooch. (Photograph.) Lots of real butterflies flapping around, emerging from sheltered places, as we walk pass. TFTC DARKSIDEDAN.
Found during a morning trek around Aranda Bushland. I bush bashed a bit for these Flags of the World ones which was challenging at times but all good in the end. Quick find. TFTC DSD!
Nice little walk off the trail to reach this one. Thanks for the cache. Have walked around here before, but not to collect caches. Thanks for bringing me out this way.
Found on a lovely not-very-summery day. Thankfully the rain from this morning stopped so it was a nice cool day, perfect for walking.
Parked on Bindubi and headed down the southern edge of the reserve before looping all the way around to the top, before then coming back down the powerline track.
Thanks for placing

Up early to hit up the caches in the area. No issues with any and the logs were soon signed.

A leisurely stroll through a very wet parkland for the last(?) of the recently published cache. TNLNSL TFTC
I took the younger GeoTeen and The Dog (who is a bit fragile right now with a sore leg) for a lovely walk through Aranda bushland targeting these new caches. A lovely, albeit damp, short stroll of about 3.3km with 110m elevation gain.
All caches found without issue at GZ and unsurprisingly in very good condition.
Thanks, DSD - a great little trail.
A random pic from today's adventures attached.

To-day a clear spring day, to-morrow a resumption of the rain possibly. Spent the day on the north side of Canberra for about 20 caches newly published. TFTC
Found with Tankengine and a nice reserve to walk through with all the flowers out. All okay here, thanks for the cache darksidedan.
Continuing collecting the flags series, I headed out to Aranda this afternoon to walk the loop and grab these few caches. Nice open country to walk through, and lots of orchids out in this area as well. All caches found quickly and all OK.
Thanks,
Thanks,

**This Cache**
Heading here from Black Mountain this was still showing as a FTF but by the time I reached GZ I had been pipped at the post. Never mind - two more FTF were still to be released so it was good to share the spoils around - as the next two FTF caches would be ALL MINE! What luck, what fun. Quick and easy find. TFTC DARKSIDEDAN.
**My Day - a long dribble**
With home schooling finished (for now) today was going to be our first grandkid free day and the first sleep-in for a long, long time. We had then planned for a solid day of pruning and weeding in the garden so I was resigned to staying put all day. However, MuggleHusband decided that he would instead like to go shopping with MuggleSon. OK, then...
Since I had decided NOT to chase FTFs I thought that I would cycle north for a cache several kms away. However I noticed a new multi close to home and a few on Black Mountain nearby. THEN, a new cache appeared in the Aranda Bushland. I also noticed Tankengine had eaten up the local FTFs and was slowing munching away at those on nearby Black Mountain. Suddenly I saw a cache released in the Aranda Bushland and only 5 minutes on bike - WHY NOT TRY? Tankengine can’t be in two places at once can he?
So, off I went only to meet Flintstone's at GZ and for a joint FTF - yeah! The bug had bitten me. After parting ways I decided that I would just pick up those caches already 'Tankengined' on nearby Black Mountain. There was no need for any more FTF's now I had my 'fix' but now there was a need for solid exercise.
I headed to Black Mountain via the Aranda underpass and straight to the base of the mountain to climb on foot to the two caches right up top as there is no easy trail. I locked my bike in the bush and climb the 300m straight to the getting the heart ️ racing. Fabulous training for future hikes.
The two caches were soon found then back down the mountain I collected my bike and suddenly my phone pinged. A cache was released 20m from where I was standing YEAH, and also one back in the Aranda Bushland. I decided to collect the new cache next to me and find the remaining 3 Black Mtn caches further up the trail before heading home via the Aranda bushland for the other FTF. My luck was to continue as the Aranda FTF was still for the taking after cleaning up on Black Mountain. Ahh! How sweat! That's right, no need to rush these things.
Returning home just before midday MuggleHusband was now gardening after being stood up by MuggleSon - LOL. So happily I spent the next 3.5 hours pruning with him. In that time another two caches were released on Black Mountain and one in Aranda. Oh well! Not for me I thought.
At 4.30pm the caches remained unclaimed so back on my bike I targeted the two FTF Black Mountain caches with success, and then went back to Aranda to collect all the now 'found' caches. My luck continued with two more caches released in the Aranda Bushland all while I searched for others. I got home at 7pm to cook dinner and have my third shower in the day. Hmmm now for bed afterall I had cycled over 40km today (eBike), cleaned the bathrooms, put out and and brought in 2 loads of washing, 3.5 hours of gardening and...and .... Ain't life grand. Now to do it all again tomorrow!

After finishing work for the day and walling around Lake G I decided to go do a spot of caching for the day. As I was leaving I drove past a car that looked a lot like Dty73 so I called them to check. What a surprise it was. So with that we detoured to a nearby FTF before heading our separate ways

*FTF* with Delta Response Team at 5:11pm.
We were both on the way to seperate places, but as I came up behind DRT I got a phone call from him asking where I was headed.
We decided to come here together. No one parked in the car park - good sign. No one walking the tracks - another good sign. Got to the cache and opened the log and it’s BLANK! Yay!! Tftc!!!

**This Cache:**
We initially placed this cache at the start of a walk in this area, we came here so DSD could find the old multi by Sol de Lune, which I found so long ago that i had forgotten where it ended!
After completing the multi we realised Dan's cache placement was too close to the GZ! Out of all the free spots we could have picked we somehow picked the only spot with an unknown cache! So we retrieved the cache, and then hid it in this location instead on our way back to the car. Phew! Glad to get that sorted! An easy hide once we finally settled on a spot!
Thanks
**Lockdown:**
DSD had plans to hide lots of new caches for people to enjoy once lockdown was lifted, and invited me along each time to help out. My primary task was joint coordinate taking for accuracy, radius checking and bookkeeping of specific cache details. DSD came prepared with maps of where he wanted to hide caches each day and plenty of containers and cache hiding expertise up his sleeve due to his sheer number of hides!
This cache was placed either before, during or after the ACT Lockdown. The hidden date might not be accurate as that is when the cache page was made up and designed by DSD. I have tried to log this cache on the day it was hidden however when I have that information recorded.
