Caching in the area we pick up a few caches along the way and this was one of them.

Having solved this one earlier, today we spent some time finding this one, got there in the end. Enjoyed exploring the area, cache and contents were in good condition.

Many thanks for placing this cache and adding to our geocaching experience today.

Merry Christmas!

With an hour or so free between the morning unwrapping of Christmas presents and concocting the brandy apricot ham sauce for Christmas lunch, I slipped out to grab a few caches, targeting mainly my list of solved North Ward puzzles and Challenges.

Of all the 'duko' puzzles, I think this is my favourite type. So, I had little trouble solving this one. At GZ, it was very quiet and I made a quick find in the persistent drizzle.

Thanks Benm70

I’d hate to be building here. On the hunting trail again with SeasonedBird (aka Mrs Geo, Salty Chook, the Old Boiler, Old Chook, Dirty Bird, Angry Bird & occasionally even Love Bird). It’s a great day for caching. TFTC BenM70

TheTownsville Mega Event finished but having another week in town to do more caching & sight seeing.
A morning out with the Snakepitters, back out towards the Castle Hill
Only managed 4 caches befor the rain set in. Back today to finish off we planned yesterday.
Luckily for us the Snakepitters have just done this type of puzzle on the Mary Poppins trail at Maryborough.
Thankyou BenM70 for placing this cache.

Yes, we solved it. Mr Domsky loves these puzzles, and I’m glad at least one of us does. As for me I just go cross eyed.
On the wet afternoon, we stopped to make the find here.
Thanks for this challenge BenM70

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 14. Townsville post Mega section Day 2. For my last day in Townsville, I joined TikvaNZ for another section of the Ross River power trail, with a bit of on and off again rain and a closed section we did pretty well. After that I set myself a list of puzzles and other non -trad caches to find for the day, which all took a lot longer than I expected, not to mention the ongoing rain all day. It has been a wonderful time in Townsville, and I have many more caches to get, so hopefully I will get to pass through again later in the year.

Thanks for the cache BenM70

I did not think it was possible but we had another fantastic day of caching again today. The plan was to first go for a walk into a tunnel for this cache, grab another while at the start. We then would drive around town and down towards Pallarenda collecting some challenge caches and ones that we both did not have along the way. Thanks for the caches and the puzzles, the caches up in Townsville are on a different level and it inspires me to create and make more fun caches.

All caches that were found today had the logs signed and the caches replaced as found.
This one I had solved the old fashioned way and I even kept a copy in my notes. Today I was happy to collect.

Having a fun time but caching a little slower with Team Crackers and Geoturtle37 after attending the Mega. Young Miss Crackers did the necessary work for us to be able to make this find. Thanks to her and the CO, nice quick find.

Having a great day out with Team Crackers and Papi4506. This appears to be a seriously wealthy are which I spent more time looking at than looking for the cache. Luckily, the others found it. Thanks for the cache.

Seems Ghostgums and I were on a similar caching path to Contesta this morning, having just met her at The Caching Bingo Challenge, now to see her name in the log of this one after we located the cache. [^]

As we pulled up to GZ, there were a couple of stond-out options for a cache hide, but neither of them produced the goods. OK, into a methodical search then I guess Wink A couple more options were assessed and the cache was in hand. Smile

Names added to the log, the container was replaced as found and we continued on with our caching plan for today. A familiar puzzle so not overly difficult to work through and a nice location for the final. Townsville's millionaires row. Out of my league... Twisted

Cheers BenM70.

After having a fantastic time at the mega we are slowly catching up with logs, today we joined forces with Geoturtle37 and Papi4506 for a day of caching and sightseeing as the last few days have been very hectic.

Hoping that we would be coming up here if the borders opened we used our many lock downs solving as many puzzles in Townsville and Cairns as we could. We saw this one and thought that this should be easy but obviously our skills weren't up to the task , Fortunately our daughter loves these sorts of puzzles so we sent it off to her and a few days later she sent us back the answers so we certainly weren't going to bypass this one while we were here.
Happily the cached turned out to be a lot easier to find than the puzzle was to solve and we were soon adding our names to the log.

Many thanks BenM70 for the puzzle and the hide.

Found as part of the Qld Cache mega event weekend in Townsville over Easter 2022. Joined forces with Gunnie69 after flying up from Brisbane to tackle a variety of caches around the Townsville area including three GeoArt series, other puzzles and a few labs! I would like to thank all the cache owners who are making this an enjoyable weekend! Big Grin

Today it was heading out to James Cook University and then back towards to the centre of town, before seeing Gunnie69 off as he headed back to Brisbane

In town for the mega, from Tassie, using caching as a guide to show us the best of what the region has to offer.

We know we can’t do all the caches in the area so we are concentrating on the puzzles we have solved.

Interesting area and some lovely homes. Took longer than expected here but eventually found the right one.

**This Cache:**

I Ken do this!
My grandpa absolutely loves Sudoku's / Ken Ken's. Funnily enough his name is Ken also, as is my middle name Smile

When we were kids, every time we visited he would rip one out of the daily newspapers, he had an entire box full of unsolved ones that he had collected. We would be challenged to do them! Different difficulty's were included, and we progressed as the years went by

A unique spot for the final cache too, could almost reach it from the car!
Thanks BenM70

**Today:**

Day 13 of my road trip from Canberra - Townsville Mega Event! Big Grin
**Found with sebass19**

Another full day of caching, this time we focused around central Townsville itself, including the Strand, Castle Hill and Townsville South. We started the day off with the CITO at Rowes Bay, but only 30 minutes into the starting time the trees were already planted, so that was a shorter event than expected.

We cached into the darkness once more until we had done another "loop" of everything on the must-do list and ended up back near our accomodation!

Great to be back in town as part of The Megatrons ((The Bug, Crash, Tardis and myself).
Well done Townsville and Charters Towers for the quality and variety to go with the Mega.
Another Puzzle that we knew how to do but just took a bit of time and trial and error.
We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC

MEGA Trip - day 4

Assembled the full MEGATRON crew (bella at waggy, dahumbug, tardis0061, crash2079) for an early CITO at Rowes Bay. Then the plan was to tidy up the remaining caches at Pallarenda, before heading towards the book series and the bone yard.

It turns out I could do this! Even better, I was able to add my name in the log (signed as MEGATRON)

Cache 8823 on 17 Apr 2022.

Up in Townsville from CBR for the Mega with TikvaNZ, Fox in Jox and ZQX and thousands of other CBR cachers! So many interesting caches to find while in the area, we will sadly not be able to get to all of them. But happy to get some warmth and sunshine while out and about, which has been sadly lacking in the ACT this summer. This was also a chance to use up some flight credits from a cancelled trip to the USA in August 2020 before they expired. Many puzzles solved before travelling, either individually or collectively, and a few solved on the run!

Today: the plan is to head north after the CITO to grab a few challenge caches and a other tasty ones and then head south to knock over a few of the Saint puzzles. But as usual, plans change and we ended up caching in and around the Ross River and Mount Low in the afternoon.

This cache: being a Ken Behren, we had no trouble with sorting out this cache!

Thanks BenM70 for the cache and the fun!

We grabbed this cache as it was an important D/T to us on our clean up day for Townsville.
Great place to hide the cache, which I managed to spot - I must have hit form and was finding some caches

--------------------------------------------------------

This cache was found as part of a trip with GoosenEgg and Stainless Steel Rat to Far North Queensland for the Townsville Mega. The trip started in Cairns and ended in Mackay, and allowed us to find some ripper caches inbetween.
We managed to complete some of the Breaking Bad cache series until we driven back to the car due to the heat, and the Saint and most of the book series. There were some good variety in both these series which kept them interesting.
One of the highlights (although a low light when removing the mud) was the walk on the salt flats outside Townsville to get the challenge caches
Another highlight was Magnetic island, where other than some great views, we managed to spot two koala's in the wild.
Thank you for placing and maintaining this cache that was part of our trip

The weekend of the Mega was here at long last so the first thing we did was not go to the Mega but we went to clean up some DT caches we missed on Castle Hill after we had got coffee then it was a drive to A Box of Red Herrings only to find the library closed but then to discover the cache at the Mega site anyway.
Maze was next then we did the box of red herrings while we waited for the Escape Room to open, which we were first in along with the Davinells, before heading out for the day collecting a few more good caches around Townsville.

This was my first Mega trip in a while now, I had planned to go to the last one in Wangaratta but concerns about COVID made me pull out at the last minute. For this one it was a trip with BudgieTas and GooseandEgg landing in Cairns on the Sunday where we collected a few caches in the dark before driving down to Townsville on the Monday collecting a select few caches along our very indirect route.
While in the Townsville we made the best of our time collecting a few series of caches and searching for some of the older caches on offer, some with lots of favourite points or something we thought maybe a bit different, along with all that we got to go to all the Mega events and meet up with cachers old and new, spending Thursday with Greg going round Magnetic Island and a bit of time with the Davinells who went out of their way to welcome the Tasmanians to Queensland.
All to soon it came to an end and we drove down to Mackay on the Monday again collecting caches along the way before flying home on the Tuesday Morning.
Thanks for the warm (sometimes too hot) welcome Queensland until next time!

Thanks for the cache.

Checking through my lists and I had missed logging this one. Yeah, I KEN do this! I KEN remember budgie finding it. I KEN also remember being shocked that there was a pool above GZ.
Thanks BenM70

A ten day mega trip was arranged with Stainless steel rat and Budgietas. We flew into Cairns and out of Mackay, with the majority of the time in and around Townsville. We found a huge variety of caches and although our find count was a little lower than we would have liked, some of the high D/T caches more than made up for that. I really appreciate the effort of the local COs and all the people involved in hosting the mega and associated activities. I enjoyed catching up with many of our caching buddies, and make some new ones too!
Thanks for a great mega trip!

No issues in locating the cache container and signing the log.
Thanks for the puzzle and the hide Ben.

During the Easter long weekend, it was all about the Townsville Mega event! Highlights included a hike at Cape Pallarenda Conservation Peak, walks atop the local mountains of Mount Stuart, Castle Hill, and Mount Louisa, checking out a few shady spots along Ross River, sewer pipe / tunnel adventures, and a scuba dive to see the Museum of Underwater Art at John Brewer Reef. The Mega events themselves were fantastic: Gadget lab caches, GPS maze, trivia night, tree planting CITO, and Cal's Escape Room. There was also plenty of geocaching to be had, such as power trailing through the geoarts The Saint and the Book, and the collection of challenge caches at Bushland Beach mudflats. My view of Townsville had completely changed from my trip experience, and much kudos to the Cache Qld Townsville Mega Committee.

These are perhaps my favourite sudoku variation, as I'm more mathematically minded. So the puzzle was solved one evening in preparation for this weekend's event.
Following our morning hike and walking around Jezzine Barracks, on our way back to the accommodation, we took a detour up and around ot this cache. We stared at what lay before us at GZ, and started to look around, but I think I had a bit of luck on my side, as I found the cache within a few minutes (suspecting what this cache may be). The cache container and logbook were in good shape. We decided to sign the geocache as DWEG1 (Davidwazza and e.gregory1) to save space in the logbook. Thanks BenM70 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

27,585. Found with minniek during our Grand Townsville Trek up to CacheQLD's Townsville Mega Event over Easter.

Day 8 of our Townsville Trek, and we have arrived in Townsville ! After settling in yesterday afternoon, we drove into town to catch up with some of minniek's relatives. After that and lunch we headed out for our first caching run around the area. We went up this hill and negotiated the twisty winding streets before arriving at GZ. Great views from up here. Happy to say it was a quick find. Signed the log, replaced the cache, then continued along to the next cache on our list.

Thanks BenM70 !!

Day 8 of our trek to the Townsville Mega and back with fitzy_1965 and two of my geo-kids Death_killer & my_name_jeff_1.

Today we spent the morning with my niece, nephew, and great niece. Was so glad to see them after such a long time and to meet my little great niece for the first time. Although my mother was born here, I’ve never made it this far north before. We did a small number of caches today ending with the Welcome To Townsillve event this evening before heading back to The Strand to find some amazing fish & chips for Easter Friday dinner.

All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned.

Found while in Townsville to attend the Mega event.

I travelled up from Adelaide, taking a week or so so get here, meeting up with FeatherWaite to do some caching around the Cunnamulla area then continuing on to Barcaldine and Charters Towers.

While in Townsville I teamed up with Budgietas, Stainless-steel-rat and Gooseandegg on some days, including a day on Magnetic Island, and with Davidwazza at other times. When caching with Davidwazza, logbooks were signed DWEG1.

All in all it was a terrific week or so in Townsville, with plenty of great caches found.

Thanks BenM70 for the puzzle and the cache.

In town for the mega, using caching as a guide to show us the best of what the region has to offer.

After solving the puzzle it was time to collect. Ooh this is a very swish part of town, loads of moolah to live here no doubt.

Seems Townsville cachers don't need hints, I don't recall seeing any on the caches I've done so far. Ok looks like it's up to me to use my caching sense. Oh hello, there you are! FP for the fun and yet another cool view

I was surprised that I really ken do this. One of the many puzzles we solved, tried to solve, threw aside in frustration and noted to never let see the light of day again, ?? before arriving for the Townsville Mega. Razz So yeah, after seeing it's little solved icon on the map, I was kinda keen to find it.

Down doing a speedy raid on Townsville to get enough points to make it up Mt Everest.
This was one of those puzzles that can be done quickly if you have the right tools......
At GZ I was able to make a quick park and grab, quickly spotted the odd one out, log signed and returned as found.
Nice views at GZ

Many thanks to the CO for the puzzle and cache.

I really enjoyed this challenging puzzle. Once I started I couldn't put it away. I did make a couple of mistakes but it was easy to see where I went wrong and where I needed to rework a section. The cache was spotted easily at GZ. Thank you for placing the cache.

Fancied a ride so I stopped by for this one to make the quick find. The puzzle took a little longer.

Nice to be able to grab a find on a whim without having to worry about dot days, streaks or souvenirs.

I think there’s about as much chance of me owning one of these glorious homes as there is of me completing a 365 day streak.

Thanks BenM70 for creating and placing this for us to enjoy.

The more that I know about geocaching and being mates with the Townsville geocachers (I know gross) … I have become aware it is what you know. What a nightmare for greencordial. So I don’t want to have to think about this again for some time. So I want to get rid of it off my gameboard. Ken you think of a less annoying puzzle next time BenM70?

This cache dropped right on time to familiarise myself with the concept. I have seen these types of puzzles multiple times while scouting caches down south, but always skipped them in an instant as being too cumbersome. With this now appearing at front of the door there was no way around it anymore. It wasn’t too bad in the end and the required numbers calculated after a bit of time. I enjoyed the challenge but hope that this will not become the new jigidi style of hide up here; Quick to generate for the CO, a pain for the cachers . Anyway, self-imposed pain I assume when always grasping for new challenges. Thanks for creating, placing and the [FTF]
