9 October 2024 11:11amAfter a couple of days in Echuca we were on our way home to Ballarat via Castlemaine. And as these were roads we don't usually travel down we stopped to find the odd cache or two as well. Picked this one thx to the safe off road parking and into the bush I headed. Soon started regretting the decision to wear thongs though as the GPS was telling me to go 10m further into the creek from where the cache was eventually found. ( a bit of a clue in a previous log helped as I searched far too long at the wrong location). Tftc at a relic of days gone by.

A fun loop around the area with deanside. Good to meet a couple of other geocachers over the last few days. A very enjoyable journey and there was this cache! Wow. Every now and then a cache brings me to a great spot that one would normally drive past. What a beautiful place here. What stories this bridge could tell. Thank you so much lorigus74 for showcasing this place.

Find # 14472Out on a big drive, picking up odd caches in out of the way places, driving in some awesome bush areas and the odd walk to keep the legs moving. From home, it was then Bendigo, Toolleen, Heathcote, Lancefield, Baynton, Redesdale, Sedgwick, Mandurang (centre of Vic) then Kangaroo Flat for Munchies before making my way back Home. 27 physical and 1 complete Ad Lab for the day to keep the numbers moving. Most caches were relative logical finds but later in the day I got a couple of tougher hides that chewed up the daylight. Quick grab, hides is almost designed for a cache. Good to see some of these old relics still standing. TFTC lorigus74

A nice wonder off the road to stretch the legs and find a cache. Thanks

Pulling into park the car near there were a couple of other cars parked on the side of the road. Seeing someone walk out of the path towards gz I waited before going for my search. As I began to walk I realised the path made through the long grass was heading straight to GZ and the other car parked was another geocacher. Funny how close our paths crossed.
Today's cache and why I drove out here is day 67 of my ongoing streak. Tftc

A lovely short walk in the heat to a brilliant little cache, serenaded by cicadas.
Thanks for the cache.

Merry Christmas. I wasn't going to stop here tonight. I was certain that it would've washed away since last logged. As I got closer to rhe bridge, this was confirmed but hey, I looked anyway ?? and the cache had been replaced & a lovely new pristine log to sign. Many thanks. Another road travelled often with no knowledge of the old bridge ????????????????????

After spending the week before away caching I thought that I better catch up with a few things around home over this weekend.
Sitting at Friday night my phone went bing and it was a message from Gemma Sistema, the question was asked are we still on for our 6 weekly caching catch up tomorrow.
Opps I had totally forgot about that so the response was of course and what Geovehicle do I need to bring.
A quick run around to get organised and the day was planned.
I’m just the chauffeur on these trips as always Gemma tells me where to go.
Met early in Castlemaine and headed to Bendigo for a fun day out.
After finding a few right in town now to head out to see what Gemma has planned.
So after finding the smiley cache series it was time to slowly make our way back to Castlemaine but still stop at ones we pass by.
Another one in the TBT series that we have found with out realising that it is a series.
Parked on the right side and soon located the prize.
We left the cake for someone else to have.

Thanks lorigus74 TFTC.

Maybe we parked in the wrong place to access this one, but we certainly found the old bridge in its state of disrepair. Donned the gumboots to wade through the long grass and some water to GZ, taking the chicken track rather than testing out the bridge! SL at 11am This one did take the cake, as we took the back roads home to Wangaratta. #8359 TFTC lorigus74

Found it! We spent a couple of days in Bendigo and took the scenic route home. We stopped here to find the cache. After looking at the bridge and in various wrong places, I found the cache nicely tucked in its hiding place! TFTC SL

Wandering some byways as I wend my way towards the bug smoke. Waded through lots of very long grass to this interesting old bridge which is in a very distressed state. Pity it has been allowed to fall into such disrepair TFTC lorigus74

Find #2588 for me. Found at 7:54 am with my dog Bonnie. Today was a pre-planned Wellness Day at La Trobe, so a good opportunity to find some caches. It was also my mother's 91st birthday, so an even better opportunity to visit her in Ballarat, so it made sense to combine the two. This was my first stop. I'd found a cache at this old bridge before (now archived) and looking at the map I could see that this one was located at the other end of the bridge so I was able to approach from the right direction. Good coordinates led me straight to the cache with all in good condition and a wonderful cake to top it all off! The only reason I knew about this bridge was due to the previous cache, so thanks for continuing the tradition at this great location lorigus74 and thanks for the cache!

A nice quick park and grab.
The bird songs were outstanding at this small reserve.
Plenty of parking here to enjoy your morning tea after finding the cache in really nice hide.

A pretzel, biscuits, bread rolls, cake, panini and lastly a Toast! We gathered all the Bread Crumbs on our homeward journey from the Goulburn Valley to the Bellarine. What an amazing series, so well set up and presented, the back roads were familiar to us, it gave the drive a very special flavour.
We lived not too far from here for many years, it was interesting to see the changes.

Thanks lorigus74 for creating this tasty series.

Drove to the wrong side of the structure and made a perilous crossing on foot. On the way there geopooch decided to swim across but on the way back she followed me over the structure. Had me worried!

Saw this series published yesterday but decided not to go out at that time. Instead I headed out early this morning to make an assault on three of the series that still hadn't been found. Arriving in the area of GZ, I parked in a spot I knew, on with the gum boots and off I headed only to find I was on the wrong side of the fast flowing creek. New strategy, relocate to the right side. Walking down through the wet grass the gum boots were a Godsend. I was afflicted with cache blindness, as when I was on the other side, I developed an idea of where it was going to be. I started searching without checking the GPS and came up blank. Checking the GPS I was still 16 metres away, relocate again and soon had the prize in hand.

Thanks lorigus74 for placing this series.
