Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I live full-time in our caravan travelling around NZ, visiting the places we want to visit & doing the things we want to do and fitting in a bit of Geocaching here & there we had been staying in Cromwell but were moving on we are heading towards the coast, but decided wed call past St Bathans & try a nab a couple of caches on the way through , parked up nearby and after a short walk, we were on the loop track around the lake, not the big loop, just the smaller one, needed to grab the Tradition cache first that done, we set about taking some photos & getting our information & measurements sorted answers & photos have been messaged through & well presume that well get the all clear, so well go ahead & log this were also pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... TN, except photos:LN, except footprints, but theyll blow away in the next lot of wind:no L to S this was #6,620 for us!
Visited the Blue Lake on our way to Queenstown from Dunedin and FMZ said this was just a short detour. Maybe it was a bit further then he thought, but it's a cute little town and a strangely beautiful lake. We deliberated over the questions and FMZ sent answers to the CO. Pics in his log. Thanks Natalie for the cache!
Jgersmum and I detoured here on our way up to Queenstown as I had meant to visit here before but never got round to it. The weather was a bit variable but we got a short break in the weather and even a touch of sun here. Answers sent for both of us. TFTC!!!
We travelled from Roxburgh to St Bathans today and enjoyed the sights along the loop walk at the lake. Then carried out the requirements of this cache. Quite interesting geology lesson although I dont do many earth caches because they usually seem like school assignments, and Im mostly over assignments of that nature! #7320. TFTC.
Called here several years ago and it was wet and Slippery so didn't venture down the hill. Promised to come back in the summer to see a blue lake and complete the task.Today was the day, sunny but a cold wind. Several cars and a couple of tractors and trailers with dogs in down at the lake.A fascinating story about how the lake was created......literally by hand. Amazing what men did in the search for gold in these parts.TFTC.
Thanks Natalie247 for setting up this Earth Cache in this stunning location. Your questions made us observe and think carefully about the formation of this unique landscape. The loop walkway track was new to us and we enjoyed walking through this photogenic landscape. Answers sent.
A perfect day to be St Bathans; lots of tourists around. couldn't but overhear the misinformed opinions of people looking around - wrong identification of the rock and how the landscape was made... if only they knew I had the answers - thanks to the CO - in my hand. Happy New Year
Thanks for the earthcache Natalie247. Learnt lots while pondering the answers. Visiting today for a very enjoyable lunch at the Vulcan hotel. Always an interesting place to visit
Answers sent. Spending the weekend up in Ranfurly. Came out here to get this Earthcache for Earthcache day. Thanks for the earthcache, Natalie247#5335

We have never ventured up to St Bathans before. We traveled there today after a night in Clyde. What an interesting place to visit. We walked along the track along the edge, enjoying the beautiful views. It was great to read the history of the area and to learn about how gold cache to be here. Thanks for bringing us here and setting up this Earth Cache Natalie247
What an interesting placeloved the old timers atmosphere here the history with real feeling ..thanks for setting this earth cache..really worth the effort to get here some wonderful old buildings
Visited with Alijoy, the lake was beautiful today and it was lovely seeing so many people swimming and kayaking. Thank you for the Earth cache
Found together with Emandel who sent the answers for both of us. The lake is beautiful and with no wind is almost like a mirror.
It was busy here today - not such a good idea to walk down as we had to keep stepping aside for cars. Water temperature still cold though! Had skimmed the Otago University geology info before but the advantage of having it reused for an earth cache is that it becomes much more meaningful! You are forced to read carefully and understand it to answer the questions... Mt Buster is river gravels as well, uplifted. And the coloured quartz gravels baked red by burning lignite seams - one of the group used to collect those as a child visiting Blue Lake, and he and his siblings would layer the different coloured soils in as jar as a decoration. A fun excuse to wander around, thanks Natalie
We have had an enjoyable day looking around St Bathans and the Blue Lakes. Great place to earthcache thanks Natalies247.
Answers confirmed. What a beautiful spot. Met the postie bike guys, what a neat thing to do. Another south island hidden gem.
The Lake wasn’t very blue today. It was a very overcast day to visit. Pretty impressive mining operation to produce this lake. Thank you for placing an earth cache here for us to learn more about the gold mining history of this area. TFTC
We called in here on a lovely Central Otago morning on our way back to Cromwell from Ranfurly. There were lots of cars outside the hotel but only one vehicle down at the lake. TFTC.
We are on a 3 day 4x4 trip with our club and camping at St Bathans. We came over from Omarama and enjoyed the Manuherikia river East and West. Did a day trip to Poolburn reservoir and then to the Serpentine church and back. Came for a walk around the lake after bouncing in truck for the day on a round trip. Thanks for the interesting Earth cache here Natalie247.
On a Christmas day tiki tour around the central otago with my Aunty who we were staying with in Alexandra. Having lived in Queenstown for 5 years and visited Alex loads of times, but never been over this far.
Lakes weren't quite their pretty blue colour today, but still quite stunning. Answers sent, thanks
