With a few nearby caches still to be found we set off on this sunny day to empty the local map of hides and turn them into smilies. With our sun hats on we set off along the loop track to seek out the 2 caches here. A couple of bike riders were also out enjoying the nice weather along the track. At gz we found a familiar type of hide but a different style than we had seen before. Thanks brookphet for the placement.
We are down here for a few days, this time staying on the Barwon Heads side of the bridge. After not finding this one back in 2021, we were keen to have another go. We set off nice and early this morning to beat the hot weather and made our way to GZ. This time can you believe we virtually walked straight up to it for a quick easy find!!! TFTC brookphet, we are glad we can turn the frown into a smiley lol - GJMMelb
Thanks to brookphet for this cache. This is an area that we have never been to before. So quiet.
Found it! Someone left it in the middle of the path opened!Tricky but fun find for the next person
Took about 10 mins to find this one, we all had fun finding it on our bike ride!
The Geowife was in the mood so had a chance today to get some yellow smiles while kids are at school. Thanks for placing a cache for us to find.
Found while on a day out and about. Came back for a second go at this one and found it in a minute. Go figure. Thanks for the cache brookphet.

We are from Sydney visiting Barwon for our family friends wedding. We were expecting this to be a 20 minute search but to our surprise it only took 10, we looked at some of the photos of other finders and then had a pretty good idea of what the cache looked like and the area it was in. We found an odd pile of random rocks so we knew that we had it.

Just wondering if you have noticed the recent log by 'Phetlern' (30/Dec/2022 ) which indicates this cache is OK and available to be found/signed?
Please remember that cache maintenance arrangements need to be proactive, not reactive. This means **regular** visits (by the CO) to check on the cache and not relying on or expect passing seekers to fix issues or replace missing caches.
If you placed the fresh cache log, then you need to post an Owner Maintenaince log to that effect, otherwise the cache could be de-listed (Archived) as not being Guideline compliant.
Even though things may seem OK, there is still a need to remove the "Needs Maintenance" attribute - see here: [**Removing the Needs Maintenance Icon.**](http://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=404) and then Enable the cache - see this link: [**Temporarily Disable and Enable**](http://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=235) .
**I've Enabled the cache and removed the NM attribute for you on this occasion.**
**JUST A TIP:-** In case you are not aware, there is a Geocaching Dash Board designed to assist a Cache Owner in managing the caches they own. Have a read about it [**HERE.**](https://www.geocaching.com/blog/2020/07/welcome-to-the-cache-owner-dashboard/?newsletter=PM) You will find your very own dash board [**HERE**](https://www.geocaching.com/play/owner?utm_source=geocaching&utm_medium=blog&utm_campaign=COD)

Second last day of 2022, what a year! Luckily we had the opportunity to seek out a couple of caches sitting rather forlornly on the Connewarre/ Barwon Heads area of our map. A neat way to learn more about the Game Reserve.
We went to this cache with a replacement log, only to find what seems to be a brand new log (without any ID), already sitting in the cache - good fairies!!!!
**FEEDBACK TO CO:** Everything would now seem OK at this cache - however, you do need to respond to the Reviewer request.
Thanks to brookphet for adding this cache to the gameboard.

### **OWNER MAINTENANCE REQUIRED PLEASE** ###
----------
Hi there brookphet,
It looks like this cache might need some attention, as one or more seekers have indicated there is an issue. The cache has been temporarily disabled, so as to remove it from search listings and discourage people from visiting this location until the issues/s with this cache can be addressed.
**You do need to respond in some way within 14 days, so others know you are on top of it, as well as indicating exactly what is happening with this placement - please don't let a lack of communication scuttle this listing.**
#What should you do now:-#
You have a number of choices so pick the one that applies from this handy list:-
- **Check On The Cache:-** Visit the cache and repair and/or replace or do whatever else is needed, post an [**Owner Maintenance log**](http://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=404) indicating the cache has been checked and [**ENABLE your cache**](https://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=235 ). Then sit back and wait for the logs of praise to roll in.
- **Place A Write Note Log::-** Reviewers are not mind readers (unfortunately), so without your note on the cache page explaining that the site works are on-going, you have been in hospital, the area is in flood, or some other reason that has prevented attending to the cache, they can't tell what is going on.
So please just post a note to the page (within 14 days) and when a Reviewer next looks at the listing, all will be fine for a little bit longer.
**Be sure to indicate the actual date that you expect to have it fixed so that everyone knows you are on top of it. If you have a long term unavailable cache (where you don't have an actual date) please ensure you visit the page and post a note every 4 to 6 weeks, so as to keep everyone up to speed.**
- **Adopt/Archive:-** If you don't plan on fixing it then you could consider passing it on to another geocacher by asking them to [**Adopt it**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=54) or alternatively, you need to [**Archive it**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=56), so it is removed from searches and someone else can have the spot. Don't forget to remove any remnants of your previously enjoyed cache too.
You might wonder what happens if you don't pick one of those. Well, if nothing happens, then a few weeks from today, when a Reviewer next looks at the cache page, it is likely that they will, unfortunately, have to de-list (Archive) on the basis that it has been abandoned.
Honestly, I'd rather you decide so please do something before then. Please don't send me an email but instead follow the information/advice posted above.
**JUST A TIP:-** Have you checked out the Geocaching Dash Board designed to assist a Cache Owner in managing the caches they own? Exploring the environs picking up a few caches on the way . This cache is extremely wet and impossible to sign.
I gave the kids the option. Find treasure or go home. Off we went. Still warm so on the lookout for snakes. Boys ran after one another, and we enjoyed being the only ones out here today.
Once at GZ it took a bit of a search until finding this well made camo. Have never seen this type before, so quite impressed. Also enjoyed visiting somewhere local that I haven't been before. Thanks for putting caches out for us.

Had to head across to Ocean Grove to get Hank the geomobile sorted with new treads. Once the new treads were fitted, we tootled off to Barwon Heads to grab a cache. We parked as close as we could then took an enjoyable 1/2 km stroll to the cache. We were the only people on the track today, and we enjoyed the various plants, birds and insects we observed along the walk. We arrived at GZ and saw a likely hiding spot and almost overlooked the cache as it was not quite what we had expected. The logbook is slightly damp, but otherwise, the cache is in good condition. Thank you for this cache brookphet.
It wasn’t where I first looked but I took a breath and found it hidden nicely.
Log is damp.
Thanks

After moving my car to a safer location I went back and found it straight away very well camouflaged
Had some cows as my audience looking for it

Wow. That was hard. I almost gave up 3 times. Probably took me 30 mins. Epic find & persistence paid off. Thanks
Out with the lovely echidna44 collecting a few caches today This cache had us searching for a while before it revealed itself. TFTC brookphet
Out with au.fait, we had a lovely time caching together in the Barwon Heads, Wallington area.
We searched here and there for quite a while in the heat, before the elusive little cache was found. Great hide, thanks brookphet.

One more DNF on this one! With only one (joint) find on this one it is clearly hard! I spent 20 minutes here to no avail, but then a micro in bush like this will do that, and I suspect that the D rating should be higher.
Checked in on this today after some DNFs. Storm had rustled things a bit, so dusted off the cache back into its position. Good to go
After checking out of the HH and finding a couple of caches in Ocean Grove, we headed across the bridge to find some more in Barwon Heads. We headed to this one after the 13th and started looking around. We looked for quite some time then decided we should head off to the other cache after messaging the CO re this one. The CO answered almost immediately (thank you!) and gave us a clue which we would try out after finding the pneumatophore views cache. Once back at GZ we started looking again and also asked more clarifying questions. We kept looking but it was after 1.30pm by this time and we w ere getting hungry so we ended up giving up nd getting lunch then headed towards home. Thanks for your help anyway brookphet - GJMMelb

When the cache was published, I thought I was to far away, and with school traffic to add to the time. But I thought I’d give it a go anyway.
I arrived at the closest parking location and receive a call from the Legendary Bushfire, he said “I’m out the front of Jirrahlinga”
I could see the white beast, so I flashed my lights. His reply was “I can see them, but they look like police lights”.
I waited, the vehicle but it didn’t move.
I was a little confused. So I set off to GZ hopeing there was another way in to the loop.
Turned out that Bushfire had seen the Jirrahlinga Sign at Barwon Heads PS. So with that sorted we met up on the trail and made our way to the cache. There’s plenty of places it could be, but there was something that stood out. But that isn’t the cache, yes it is. Great hide, deserving a favourite point.
The log book was opened to find a blank log book, for a joint [FTF] with the legendary Busfire.
Log signed and replaced as found.
Thanks for the Traditional Cache BrookePhet

[^] {FTF} JOINT FIND WITH AUSFOX [^]
Jason has described what happened very well so the ageing Bushfire has learnt a few new things today, never say you cannot learn something new no matter how old you are.
I always thought Jirrahlinga was on the Barwon Heads Road but no it is tucked away on a side street.
The second thing learnt today is a new track that after seventeen years caching I never knew existed and lots of room for new caches in the future.
I guess you could I also say another new cache type that I have never seen before.
All in all a very good cache but in the summer be very careful as I think there would be lots of snakes in this area.
Thanks brookphet for showing me a new area.
