Geobash Easter Mega - Day #5 (Easter Monday 1/4)For day five of my trip, I decided on power trailing my way to and from my third and final (pre-booked) tour at the Deep Space Tracking Station. This makes my four tours total. The power was a mixture of two joined into one. The two main PTs were, Beautiful View PT and the Drive Trip PT. There were also a couple of others along the way which needed to be added to the mix to break it up a little. It was great fun but very hard going as not all of them were at GZ given on the cache page or were in prickly bushes. Many battle scars were earned but it certainly was fun though. Once at the Deep Space Tracking Station it was a great tour. I learnt lots and got to the radio telescopes up close. I also got to find the caches around the area before heading off. After leaving, I power tailed my way back via the other way to get back to Canberra and then had a very late lunch. After that, I headed off to the CITO to finish the day off. TB visit. If the cache wasnt signed as JohnoMawbs, it was signed as JM or as the tour group name. A big thanks to the CO for adding this cache to game for the Geocaching community to enjoy. Big Grin TFTEs & TFTCs Big GrinThis was the first of many finds along the PT towards the 'Deep Space Tracking Station'. A nice quick find here and now off to the next one. Big Grin

Thankfully a nice park and grab with ample space to pull off the road. We needed it after a day of driving round in circles! Thanks ALL7 for providing and maintaining this series of caches for us to find. *The generic bit*Travelled up form Northern Victoria to attend the GeoBash Mega in Canberra. We started geocaching just before the Easter Mega event in Rutherglen last year and will celebrate our 1000th find at this Mega. Thanks to the organisers, sponsors, volunteers and all the COs who make these events a great success.

29-Feb-24
Previously, I had only one find on the leap day, 29th February, so mid afternoon I had finished with what occupied me earlier in the day, and set out to add a few more finds for the date. I rang Decrypter, reminded him of the date, and he drove over to join me in the hunt. Unfortunately this was beyond my reach, but Decrypter was able to retrieve it. TFTC ALL7.

29,648. Found with albida33 during a loop around South Canberra today.

With the post Christmas / New Year period settling down to 'normal', albida33 and I did many caches today including some Multi's we have kept for other days as we ran out of time. Several pole caches and tree climbs - a real mixture. This one was a nice quick drive by - probably the easiest of the day - nice ! Signed the log, replaced the cache as found, then we continued on to the next one on our list.

Thanks ALL7 !!

After the nice hike at Bullen Range I took the southern road back to town. Although a bit tired after the hike I couldn't resist a few more quick finds along the road side.

Quick find, nice cache, all in good order.

Thank you ALL7 for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

09-Dec-22
At the end of the week I headed down south to visit caches around Lanyon Homestead. Whilst I managed to locate the information for one multi, I failed to reach GZ for another, and it seems I was on the wrong side of the river. I left those for another day and headed south along the River from Tharwa bridge. Lets just say overgrown does not quite describe how difficult the walking was. Blackberries, washed out gullies and tree climbs made the whole effort quite extreme. And I was little disappointed to find out I had missed two caches from my offline list. I made it back to the car scratched but happy.

After the riverside walk I was looking for one more simple cave, and I was happy to see this in its spot as I pulled. It was not very busy and I soon had the cache in hand.

Thanks for the cache ALL7

*FTF* with Delta Response Team, Aquilus1 and Tankengine.

When all the new caches came out Delta Response Team, Aquilus1 and I were rather surprised. And practically all down south, that was an even a bigger surprise.

So we headed off to one close by, then after that we headed down to the deep dark south to try and catch up with Tankengine who was already snapping up the new caches like candy.

We didn’t expect to then catch up with contesta along the way who was also out on the FTF prowl.

We all nabbed a great number of caches which made everyone’s night. It was a lot of fun with everyone.

All the caches were found pretty quickly, except one which we later found out was missing on the night and another which was a fair few meters off the coords, but at least it was found. Tftc ALL7!!!
