EN : automatic translationunfortunately rainy day which will change our program. Our guide brings us here anyway, so we can see the seals. Indeed, we can admire a whole colony of seals relaxing on the rocks. We will shorten this walk due to bad weather. Damage ! Thank you to all the installers for the work carried out for our greatest pleasure. Greetings from France. Our Travel Bugs pass through this cache but do not come out of our backpack; they continue the adventure with us. TB out : 1 Trip to New Zealand, decided very quickly , but that didn't stop us from preparing a small file of caches to search, as far as possible. The GC46 was, of course, at the top of that list! and there you have it, we visited it during our stay in Wellington. Yesss!! Search for a while but found it. 12 november 2024 13:30 # 1286Tftc greetings Team Abco (NL)
No luck for us today, SJT_NZ and I gave what we thought was a pretty structured search but alas no luck.
We searched for ages but couldnt find it lots of deadfall though, so unsure if that hindered the search!
We hunted around in the flax & checked the base of all possibilities. Found two rocks at gz, but nothing under them. Possibly missing, or are we just tired at the end of a long day?
Ohne Netz und Hinweise gefunden. Due Herausforderung war hnlich, wie beim grauen Wetter die Seehunde zu sehen.Merci
On a Week road trip to Nelson,Buller and Greymouth. lots of driving and walking, plus biking, lots of great caches many thank to all the CO"s - Bitsprayer
Found on a five day geocaching road trip to the Nelson, Buller, and West Coast regions. We traveled many kms, by car bike and by foot and found many great caches and explored many areas. Thanks to the various CO for the caches sites we visited that made our trip so great. Thank for the caches.
We travelled on Road 6...... Seals? where? After a celebration of New years night at car cabine ..... windy day begins. Lets explore the path. I like that views. Thanks and greetings from the Czech Republic.
Came up here for Seals and caches with Piwaka54. Took a bit of confidence for me to explore the surroundings- this is the first major caching expedition since I smashed and dislocated my ankle in July. Thanks for bringing us to this beautiful place.
After years on our bucket list and three cancellations due to Covid, we are thrilled to finally be here. Following several cruises we flew from Sydney, Australia to Wellington, New Zealand to begin our next adventure. Picked up our rental vehicle and will be driving, exploring, hiking, and caching both islands for 3.5 weeks. We detoured here to view the seals and this cache was a bonus. Found the container after a few moments and soon were adding our ink to the log. The seals were amazing. We witnessed Mom's nursing, one Momma rescuing its pup from a crack in the rocks, and a Weka harassing a momma with a newborn. Thanks for adding to our adventure today, Nukeworker and Racquetball Girl, Arkansas, USA
I had an hour to find a few caches around here while Ms M was otherwise engaged. My first find. Lots of tourists down at the viewing platform. TFTC
Found this one from the serie with Hana on our way to the light house. Despite the cloudy weather we enjoyed this walk a lot. The wild Westcoast. Many thanks !
We were with a muggle who had never heard of Geo Caching! So we took this opportunity to show him! Took a few pics with the signpost after we spotted the seals. Tftc
Yay! TFTC! I came all the way from Vancouver BC Canada to find this cache Thanks for being part of the adventure!
Very beautiful walk although the kids thought the path itself was too easy Found a few caches along the way but also a few DNFs. We tried our best
Saw a few seals at the colony, cool to view them from a distance without disturbing them.

After visiting the fur seal colony we hiked a bit further to find some caches.Danke fr den Cache! Thanks for the cache!????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Had to wait for some muggles to disappear... Then found the cache without any difficulty. There was no trackable in it.
I went for a wee walk to get this one ( along with a few dozen tourists.
Luckily it is away from the viewing area.
Cheers for the cache, weenz.

We walked the full loop today. On our way we searched for a cache once and a will. Thanks for showing us this trail. Especially the south part, was not even on my map. And not many people new this track.
Thought that was going to be a dnf after the obvious spot was vacant of a cache...no signal so couldn't read any logs but finally spotted an elephant track and the cache soon after...last one on the coastal track for me time to return via the loop..tftc
This was an amazing cache as it was our 3000th and I'm really pleased it was here. The seals were just beautiful to watch. The Mum's and Bub's were all frolicking around when we were there. It was just beautiful to see nature and animals safe and out of harm's way. I could have stood here all day watching them if I had more time. Animals are just the best. A FP from us for the milestone and for the beauty! TFTC. The chikins from Brisbane.
Thought this one was also on the bike track but soon realised it was on the walkway. No bikes allowed so left them in the racks in the carpark and headed on up to this cache. Very popular place today but luckily the cache was not at one of the lookouts. Andy got to gz before me but had still not found the cache by the time I arrived. We both had a look with Andy eventually coming up with the cache. We sat in the shade and sun while log was signed then I grabbed a few of my tb's to drop inside the container. By the time that was all done, the wandering muggles had disappeared and Andy was able to return the cache where found. Headed back to the carpark for a very welcome icecream. tftc

Heading on a wee family summers holiday.
Our couple nights in Reefton are over and it's now time to head over to Carters Beach for a few days.
Unpacked and keen to do something so we took the bikes out to Cape Foulwind to ride the new section of track around the Cape. Section biked, we then walked up here to spy the odd seal or two and nab this cache. Thanks.

Second day in the region of Westport. We decided for a visit of the Seal Colony combined with the Kawatiri Costal Trail in the morning. The weather was perfect, the sea a bit agitated, nice waves coming in and crushing against the rocks.
We left the one of the car park for the end. Thus, this was the first one of the loop. Still a bit rusty, we finally found it a bit off GZ.
Thank you for this nicely placed trail,

Due to the the COVID-19 pandemic it has been four years since we last made the long trip from California to New Zealand to visit our kiwi kin. In addition to enjoying our time together we are enjoying finding some geocaches, too.
Cape Foulwind was the first stop on our weekend adventure to the west coast with Luckysteaks and family. The weather was great, if anything a little warm even for us Californians. TFTC

This is a real nice place to visit, today at slightly overcast with quite a heavy swell coming through but it’s not raining, thanks for bringing us here that was very much appreciated.
20th find so far this morning. Thanks for bringing me here. I was supposed to be at a CITO event in Nelson... but the weather forecast looked soooo good on the West Coast for the next 7 days!!!!
My dogs were beginning to bark, so if you were there, you'd have heard me say, "Please let it be there, please let it be there." And it was. TFTC.
Found with Kiwimykl on the first day of our four day West Coast adventure. We had just redone the Kawatiri Trail from Westport to Carters Beach due to someone placing more caches on it two days after we last cleared it... you know who you are. As we are staying at Carters Beach Top 10, we thought we would do the new ones closer to there after we checked in later in the day. So we drove to the start of this section, hopped on our MTBs and headed off. This was where we left the Kawatiri Trail and took a detour up the Cape Foulwind track to get a cache that had been placed since our last visit. As we could not take our MTBs up this section of track, I stayed at the shelter and looked after the bikes, while Kiwimykl headed off and made the find on our behalf. Fortunately the cache was placed out of sight from the viewing platform as it was packed with Muggles. Kiwimykl said it was a QEF at GZ, although he would have listed the cache size as 'Regular'.
Last August we had booked a package deal offered by West Coast Tourism, where for $299 per person we could stay for one night in Hokitika and get access to the Tree Top Walk, then spend another night in Franz Josef and get access to the Wilderness Centre and a helicopter flight over the glacier. We did the Hokitika part of the package on the 17th of August and that night the PM put us into Covid-19 (Delta) Level 4 Lockdown. We decided to take the week between Easter and ANZAC weekends off and do the second part of the package. It also gave us the opportunity to get out of the district to get the required points for the Signal's Labyrinth series of souvenirs.

This was our first find of the day after not being able to look for another one due to muggles.
I'm sure we've been here before for another cache too. Coords good here for a quick find and cache had just been replaced before the first muggles appeared.
Thank you weenz.

Not the first cache on the list but the first one found. It's been a long time since I visited here and things are becoming much more user friendly. Deja vu at GZ right down to placement. With the plentiful muggles focused on the main attraction we dealt with the formalities without interruptions. Thank you weenz
Took a little while to find with only a basic hint, butvi got there eventually.
I left a rattll pet rock - a zebra.
Thanks for setting this up

A lovely walkway with great views. Spent a bit of time looking at the seals close by. Cache was an easy find. TFTC
I guess weka are a problem here and DoC line trimmer had been by. I did find lying around behind the sign a laminated Geocache information note so maybe it's in bits?
This was by far the longest search on the whole walk and even then it wasn't that long. My GPSr didn't direct me to where I needed to be but common sense got me there.
Catching up with logging some caches from our trip last month. Found this walking out to look at seals. TFTC
After completing the Cape Foulwind to Tauranga Bay of the Kawatiri Coast Trail I drove to the Tauranga Bay to walk up to the seal colony for this one. Could only see one adult down there today. Nice easy find. Thanks weenz

Searched around and it wasn't long before we spotted something thank you for the cache
We spent several days in Omau, visiting friends, doing nice walks, ocean swims etc. Great time!
Forgot to log some of the caches I found (typical..) as I had poor reception at some places and was enjoying great company and got a bit distracted

After seemingly weeks and weeks of working too many hours I am finally through that bottle neck and so happy to be out on a caching expedition once again. Stunning day for it too. My car was one of three in the carpark where its usually quite hard to find a park - I like it better like this. Up to this cache first and not another person in sight on the walkway or at the lookout. I also remember the previous cache so a nice quick find before heading back down to the new track. TFTC #17,752
