After a drink with out of town visitors at the Puhoi tavern nearby, came to claim this. May have introduced two newbies to our sport! Thanks.
After a bit of a picnic in the car I convinced Dad to walk up here. He thought it was flat until the last bit when he decided it was a bit steep for him (wait until he sees what's in store for him next week) so he waited by a tree. I was a bit stumped by which end the roots end was, until I walked around and saw that the tree has fallen over at some point, long long ago. I thought I had spotted some tell tale signs of camo, but it was a bit further in, behind far too many cobwebs for my liking. Then I turned around and saw the cache, tucked away.
I was out in the area looking for caches with a friend . Nice hide . Refreshing to be out looking for caches Another nice cache Tftc
Nice to log the replacement if the cache we found here years ago. What a great area! Tftc
Went for a quick walk in Tawharanui Regional park this morning before the rain came down. Grabbed some lunch and as the rain had decided to stop we decided to grab some more caches. Parked up in the car park and took a stroll over the the GZ. We remembered visiting this one before. Looked in a couple of places before finding the right one that this cache is hidden in. A great tree for exploring.
Here for lunch so took a wander over to do this cache. Nice sunny winters day here today...very pleasant. Tftc
We're up in the area for a couple of days walking and geocaching in some of the Auckland Regional Parks which are amazing! Took me a while to find this one - only by checking previous posts did I find it... TFTC
'm off to Auckland today to spend the weekend with the my grown up kids and their families who live down there. Saturday's plan is to join the Auckland Geocachers in the morning for a walk in the Waitakere Ranges. Sunday's plan is to watch my Grandkid play hockey then hang out and relax at their place.
I'm very short of points for this month's souvenir challenge so today I'm hoping to collect a good 250 points. With tomorrow's tally I'll be within reach of my target. This little trail with lots of easy park and grabs was my main target today.
A little wander up to this cool tree. Amazing the way the tree up here had fallen over but carried on living. Love natures determination. Another quick find. Thanks for your cache in this beautiful area

Having found the previous cache at this location it was good to see that the tree is still going strong. TFTC
That was a very cool find! Took us a lot longer than we thought, even with the hint! Enjoying a very windy family day out at Mahurangi and finding some geocaches while we are here.
Pretty sure we found the original cache! Nice to have crossed this one off too. Thanks
After parking up and wandering up the beach we popped up to grab this, quick find thanks
Our first visit to this regional park and we are well impressed. It's a week day, so there is hardly anybody about, the sun is out, the sea is sparkling and the geocaches are waiting patiently... Life is good. Loved this cache hide, it's nice not to be rooting through the kikuia grass - it has such tough roots. Added a TB. And a fave point. The cache is all good. TFTC
Took two years to get back here to try again. Thanks for the replacement Nicely squirreled away...tee hee.
After the initial plan to visit Maturangi Park was scuttled due to a trail of newly released FTF's we had to plan another trip here.
So along with Keylev and Mr Stik-A-Crane I drove everyone up to the park (we will not mention the slight detour we took due to note having the Google Maps voice prompt on when driving up.
A great day had even though it was a little windy.
One of the last before reaching the car. we had debated weather to start with this one but left it to the end.

Headed up this way today for a tour around Mahurangi Regional Park with a few members of team SEAC, and 1 muggle.....this was a second attempt at this park, with the first not quite getting off the ground for some reason that now eludes me,(that's right...we got sidetracked with some new publications in the Waitakere's), but today was a more successful attempt....parking in by the picture frame carpark, we headed for the inlet crossing to get onto the other part of the park as the tides allowed easier access.
Thanks to all the CO's for placing these caches and maintaining them.
I remember visiting this area some time ago and tried to locate this one, but that time a flash camper van was parked very close, so rather draw attention to the cache we decided to talk about the camper van and some of the features it contained....and it had many.......

Headed out here with Mr NZ Travellers, Mr Stik-a-Crane and a new friend who had not cached before. There were previous plans to do this over Labour Weekend but we got distracted with a whole new set of caches on a trail out west so today was the day to rectify this, the tides were in our favour, the weather looked ok (not too hot just windy) and spirits were high. GPS says we walked 12.93kms just over 5hrs.
Almost finished now and the rain had just started to set in....we were thankful for a quick find here!
Thanks for the cache.

Thanks for the cache.
We had done the previous version of this cache and were keen to add this one to our found list. We searched a few spots before moving slightly further around the tree and making the find. Thanks.
Nice quick find for the last one of the loop. TFTC and thanks for bringing us here. Found with Gernita and PhilBirdBoys.
On my way back after a great walk around caching over the other side of the estuary. A nice cache here, left a TB that I've had for to long, TFTC
Took an early morning drive up this way and this was the first stop. I remember the original cache here and this was tucked away nice and secure. Beautiful and peaceful here this morning, TFTC
I think we tried looking for this one a while ago and couldn’t find it but we were still quite new to caching. TFTC
After, somehow, again being close to the head of the groupf of eleven of us caching today to get back to the carpark, Rafajaw, Jag50 and I decided to come to find this cache - for me the second time to find the hide here. At GZ Rafajaw spied the cache as I was looking in the opposite direction to him. He did the honours and signed us in, this time in our own caching names rather than the "Team BS" we had logged with so far as none of the others came down here with us. Thanks for getting me a smail on the map here again with the replacement G_2!
Felt very unfit as I huffed and puffed back up the hill to the carpark for a photo that GAR, who serendipitously arrived at that moment after having been at a dog trial south of the Bombays, took of the group.

After a walk in Te Muri park with a group of fellow cachers, MrsJAG made her way to gz with Rafajaw and Garball to find this cache. Once we followed the hint, the cache was soon spotted. TFTC
I thought I was all done for the day but no... Jag50 and Garball were heading down the bank for another cache which is fairly new I decided to tag along because who doesn't want another smiley?! We circumnavigated the tree before eventually finding the right location... Garball and I were searching in all the little nooks and cranny's before I changed the angle I was looking from and ooooh, something very suspicious :O Garball confirmed this was infact the cache and we were able to sign ourselves in. What a great day caching with all of you... would love to do something like this again TFTC G-2!!
After the event in Orewa, a group of 11 of us (merlot58, Jag50, G-2, supernannny, nette1234, Gorby, rustynz, Aiden29, Garball, tramyard and myself) carried on to Te Muri Regional Park where we had a super enjoyable time walking the 7km loop track collecting a total of 17 caches within the park (I believe I found a total of 23 for the day... I'm sure there's one I'll forget to log). The advantage of caching with a big group is that we had 22 different eyes searching for the caches resulting in not a single DNF Logs were all signed as Team BS. Thanks to all the CO's for their hides

Took us a while to find it, mainly because we were poking the tree with a stick through fear of the webs. Once we spotted the right hole, it was obvious! Pic of the log as I stupidly don't have a pen
After a very successful FTF mission around Te Muri Park today, I made sure to look for the other older caches in the area before returning home.
Cache was a nice quick find here on a very hot sunny summer day. TFTC

I am on my way to find some new caches on the orange and purple trails out at Mahurangi Regional Park. I parked up in the top car park but decided to find this one before heading out on the main hike as I need to cross the estuary as part of my hike today and low tide is still some hours away. I made my wat down the hill side until I arrived at GZ. It didn't take long to spot this one's hidey hole and closer inspection confirmed the find. The log also informed me that 0B80B8 is in the area. I better get moving so I can team up with him for the day. Cheers for the cache placement!
I remember finding the previous cache here. Lots of cars parked in the shade of the tree but we were able to quickly find the cache without muggles around
A lovely walk around the park.
So many possibilities for this one.
Followed my gps and made a quick find.

As I had been at Matakana today and was heading home....I was able to come here on the way home to get these newish G-2 caches!
When I realised where it was hidden I was "Oh no....so many possibilities! "
Lucky for me I found it easily!

Was here for a kayak trip to Saddle Island and wandered over here with Tramyard who quickly had the cache in hand. Nice hide. TFTC
Early morning team work with jard1037. Sharp coordinates makes this find fairly "quick"
We are heading off to Saddle Island by kayaks so this one was nice warming up find!
Mahurangi uber alles!

I was invited by Gorby to go kayaking at Mahurangi with a group of other cachers. Planned to meet up at the reserve at 8am. Was visiting the waypoints for the nearby virtual and walked the trail up from the campground to the lookout, so decided to walk back down the road in a loop to find this one. Once there I found the right location, but was a little hesitant to stick my arm in to retrieve the cache - worried about creepy crawlies. In the end I just went for it and thankfully nothing jumped out at me.
We have found the previous version of this cache so looked in the place the old one had been and found it quite quickly, although almost missed it as it is very nicely concealed.
We were surprised to see we weren't the first to find this cache today despite it being quite early in the day. We messaged avoyager who had found it before us and she said she was on her way to the point so we must have missed her by just a few minutes. Small world.
Nice to come back here, especially when it's quiet.

Took me ages to find this one. A lot of places to look! Very glad to find it in the end. TFTC
What a great place it is out here at Mahurangi, yet another jewel in Auckland's Regional park crown. Have been here a couple of times for geocaching/visiting purposes and have been pleased with each visit with great views and scenery, not too busy and a good break from my locale.
Present when placed, logging with permission.

This one took a bit longer than we'd intended. A good hide. It took us a while hunting around the end of the tree till we found it tucked away.
I had seen 4 new caches yesterday by this C.O up here at Mahurangi, and I did wonder if these would remain unfound until today. I said to moi, if these are good to find this morning when I woke up, I would have an attempt on the {FTF}. I woke up rather early, but not intentionally, and after rechecking to see if the caches hadn't been found I decided to head off. Didn't even finish my coffee, left home at 6:22 am and up to this way soon after.
What a gorgeous beach this is, I managed to get close to GZ in my car, despite the wet grass and my car being front wheel drive and going up the hill. Amazingly the cache was in the first spot I checked, and that is a big tree to search, cache could have been anywhere. Thanks G for the 4 caches I have done of yours this morning, great fun and nice to be back in Mahurangi.

AliGle and I were planning for a walk at Tawharanui today, but with a few new caches published around Mahurangi yesterday, combined with the fact that AliGle had a few unfound caches out that way, we decided that Mahurangi would be a more productive Geocaching day. It took us a while hunting around the end of the tree till we found this well hidden cache! TFTC!
