The last of the booms of Wattle are hanging on as I checked on Langdon today. Damage also found on the mining foundation which is very disappointing. I dont think gold will be found in bricks and mortar.
Geoturtle37, Mrs Crackers (Mr Crackers joined us later), Posums and myself all set off and found some caches between the many events. This weekend being The Great Victorian Cache Crawl. There were so many places that this cache could have been that we were all very happy when Posums made short work of this one. Thanks for placing this cache for all to enjoy.
We had a fantastic time at last years event crawl so there was no way known that we were going to miss this one, even though only half the team made the first leg.Mrs Crackers was kindly given a lift by Papi4506 & Geoturtle37 and we were joined by Posums. It rained for most of the day so we chose caches to look for that weren't too far from the car if we could. We found a variety of different types and hides and had a very enjoyable time in between events. This was another quick find between showers, the cache was found and our names were added to the log before returning it as foundThanks for placing this cache.
The first day of The Great Victorian Cache Crawl 2024 and 2 days of fun and laughs has started. After the breakfast event in Sunbury I gained a front seat passenger for the day and the dog and possum that usually occupy the front seat were not happy about the relegation to the back seat.We are heading north and we started looking for caches that jumped out on us or looked interesting in the time we had before arriving at the next event. We are hoping the rain disappears soon or hopefully its going to a quick park and fond kind of day.So after the second event at Malmsbury we have a bit of time on our hands so a couple of caches out on the tracks were called for.We were not sure what we would be in for with the recent rain.We made it back out to the road and we stopped at the old mine ruins.Interesting to see the old mine fenced up.This sneaky one took a bit of finding but we got there in the end.A fav goes out to you for this one. Thanks BrianandGreg TFTC.
I didnt think I had my tott with me today but fortunately it was in the car! Clever hide! TFTC!!
Found with Grubbs1337 and ITWimdy. A great day out with Dad and his mate. Thanks for the cache
Checked on this cache today after recent storm and rain. Happy to report log was dry and cache was too.
Somehow this hide has become wet/water logged. Will dry it out and return the cache by, or before the 7/11/2023
We are in the area for some solved puzzles and ended up driving near and so we stopped. This took a bit longer as we initially dismissed what was obvious and then couldn't decide what TOTT we would need. It's a very cool spot just off the road, with a very cool cache here and the TOTT choice becomes obvious Thanks for the fun and your recent maintenance.
Checked on our trad today. All ok. Security fence around the old Langdon shaft is once again being taken in parts. Although not really close to our cache, care should be taken,
Brian and I did a cache run today and checked on this cache. Happy to report all is good.
Gave our cache a bit of a refresh today. All good. Nothing seems to have been done regarding the opening of the Langdon shaft. Temp fence still in place.
A few hours in Bendigo this morning before the anticipated rain came this way.
The collapsed shaft was well fenced off.
A great little hide at gz. My first tool was not right but I had just the tott required on board.
A favourite point for the experience
Thanks BrianandGreg

Suscoe was out and about in the Bendigo area today.
It was a delightful day, cool but sunny and it turned out to be mild by the afternoon.
We saw a terrific range of caches and countryside today.
Thanks to BrianandGreg for this cache, A quick find for us, started at the right spot thank goodness.
A favourite.

I'm pleased to say that the fencing has been replaced & each section is padlocked to the next. Not much of a deterent for the determined but less tempting for opportunists. I pulled in just after a 4wd ute. Whilst wondering how I could get the cache unseen, he drove off so I didn't need to worry but he came in here like a bat out of hell........ My job makes me more suspicious than your average bear........
It's a busy wee road though.
I'm starting to see a theme with your hides........ I loved this one too & would really like to send you a video. The soubd effects are awesome
Many thanks

Refreshed this cache today, new signage etc. Noticed that someone has started to pinch the protective fencing around the Langdon shaft. This is on the road side too. It has now become dangerous again. Cache with care.
Find No. 4099. Found with FUF009 at 5.00pm.
A trip to Bendigo, with FUF009, in his ute today, to go to the market and Lego Exhibition.
Then after lunch we spent the afternoon caching. Out this way we just happened to go past Bunnings so we took some time out to go in for a look around. Then it was back to caching.
Well this one took a bit longer than anticipated, even with three sets of eyes looking all over the place. We were about to give up when Mr Tyred n Cranky just happened to move the right object - and there it was. Back to the ute to get the TOTT and we soon had our names in the log. A very tricky hide and very well camouflaged. Our last find for day and now we head for home.

Find # 12424
Found with Tyred n Cranky
In Bendigo for the market and the Lego expo. After that it was a bit of lunch then off to caching....
I should say a quick find, but sadly this one took quite a bit. Think it was over looked a couple of times and totally over though.
But happy to say, we did find it and all is good. Our last one today now time to head back home.
Oh and by the way, the mine is now fenced off with temporary fencing and signposted. Interesting to see what they do to keep the area safe.

Back in Bendigo for another basketball weekend. Grabbing a few more caches. TFTC
Nicely decorated hide made this a wee bit more of a challenge than I expected.
I knew it had to be here somewhere.

Checked on our camo cache only to find that what looks like the main Langdon mineshaft has opened up after all the rain. This shaft, big enough to swallow a eucalyptus tree, approximately 3 metres across and about 20 metres or more in depth has been reported. Although the cache can be accessed in relative safety, extreme caution should be exercised in this area. There is no need for you to go anywhere near the shaft.
Very clever, tool would have been handy but our personal McGyver scooter75 managed with a stick!
According to bogonhazy, this is the best smelling and scented cache he has ever found . Happy to report that today that is still the case. Cache, log and hide all good. A reminder that a special tool is required to access this one.
Arfter visiting a couple of days ago and running out of time we decided to come back this arfternoon. After a bit of a search we saw what we had missed. Quick trip back to the car to look for a tool to help us got the cache out and realised I'd left the pen in the car. Another quick trip back and opened the cache up to log and saw there was a pencil included. Ah well. Should have reread the cache description.
Thanks for the cache

Out for a few quick finds with Bogonghazy. Very clever hide. Thanks for placing the geocache
Found with LittleBoss2 while heading home from a bit of retail therapy. Best smelling cache I've ever found. Adding a fave, for the scent, and the clever hide. Thanks Brian&Greg
Fun, adventure, travel, history, geology, mental stimulation, social gatherings, support and friendship are just some of the elements of geocaching.
Out and about enjoying the opportunity to grab a few caches, yours being one of those I targeted on my journey today. Thanks ??

There was a feeling of de-ja-vu today. We can remember chasing after Romax caches in this area many moons ago. Red White & Blue and this very clever hide here, brought back vivid memories of some Romax hides. Our ToTT was somewhat tested here!
Thanks BrianandGreg for placing such challenging caches on the gameboard.

What a clever little hide! Searched up and down with catherinec19 only to realise we uh weren’t prepared but we used some ingenuity to wrangle it! This one was very frustrating in a good way! TFTC love it!!!
Finally found it!!! Omg tytaylor19 and I spent soooo long searching for this one! We were thinking that it was in a particular place for so long and was concodering pouring water down to try and get it out! Lucky we decided to look somewhere else! But after another long look we were about to give up but Ty found it!! We were confused on how to retrieve it but thanks to a handly stick I got it out! Thanks for the cache! Fav from me
Took a while to find and a bit longer to extract the log. Somehow I had the perfect item in the car. Its amazing what you carry sometimes. We enjoyed this one. Thanks
Find #2637 for me. Found at 10:11am with my dog Bonnie after a 10-minute search. Wow, I really loved everything about this cache so giving it a favorite point. Very clever! I needed a tool from the car to access the logbook so was grateful that I was parked not far away. I was surprised at how busy Sheltons Road was this morning with at least 4 or 5 cars passing by in both directions during my short visit. There used to be another cache quite close to this one but it's now archived, so thanks for highlighting the history of this old mining site once more BrianandGreg and thanks for the cache!

[FTF] Another new cache fairly close to home, fantastic im on it! A quick dash out to break up my day, a quite quick search for a well camo'd container and a first to find. Great day! Thanks for the new cache in an area full of relics and disturbance from the gold era.
