Took a little longer

We bypassed "the Decoy" as although it is probably warm enough we would be wet for the next four hours. Maybe one day.

We found this cache quickly. The road here was very marked with judder bars which made biking very bumpy so we biked on the grass instead. We saw a white heron in the pond here.

24-Mar-23
Very nice heron nearby

Find #7105
Found on March 15, 2023

We are from Abilene, Texas, USA and have come to New Zealand to visit with a friend. We plan on going after different Cache Types while here. We will also find geocaches while going sight seeing.

Thank you, Bitsprayer for placing this cache for all to find. We sign log sheets either as Love Cachers or LCers.

Driving over 50 miles to have...
Rusty barbed wire ripping through your clothes...
Curious rattlesnakes that come out of nowhere...
Itchy mosquito bites on every inch of your body...
A 40 mph wind gust blowing sand into your ears, nose and mouth...
Cactus needles getting stuck deep in your hands, arms and legs...
Thorny Mesquite trees scratching you up from head to toe...
Some or all of these things on a hike through 101° heat...
To sign your name or trade a toy...
SOUND LIKE FUN TO YOU?

It does to us, we're geocachers in West Texas! - {Taken from a Greater Abilene Association geocoin.}

StreetWalkerNZ and I had never been to Bortons Pond before, but now there are heaps of caches here, it was a must do while we are staying in the area.
There was a fisherman parked near GZ so I let him know what we were up to (he had heard of geocaching before) while SW got stuck in and found the cache. The fisherman left before we returned to the car - no luck for him this morning. TFTC.

After a hiatus of 6 years I'm back at Borton's Pond locating and signing off caches.

Definitely no need to have a 4WD to complete this new series.

Cheers for the cache.

A nice quick find, easily spotted as we walked up. I remember visiting the area a few years back, and finding a few caches. There are more now! Thanks for placing your cache.

Ms_KR and I are off on a wee drive to Invercargill and back. Today we made it as far as Oamaru. It was overcast all day.

Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.
