Today I went for a ride in the forest and climbed a few sand-dunes with hummmus, and found 4 Huge caches!! Thanks mar1sa for this cool series. All were dry and in great condition, some had more treasures than others and unfortunately I didn't add anything except our names... but I will give this one an FP

Having completed #6 and #5 I made my way back to the forest track with the dog and another quick find without even having to consult the hint.

Another excellent well stocked container which was lovely and dry and in great shape.

Much easier terrain here and a pleasant walk to GZ.

The dog loved playing in the pine needles as we made our way onto #3 in this Dunes series.

Im staying at the NZMCA park by the race course, and decided as it could be the last nice day for a while, I'd bike here to do this series of caches.
I started at the Cousins Ave bike park entrance and this was the first one I came across.
I had to wait for a couple of walking muggles to pass on by, and then it was a super easy find as it wasn't covered at all. The clue makes it easy enough to find and the co ords are good, so I covered it much better when I returned it.
I left a pet rock - wombat.
Thanks for setting up these 'large' containers. It makes a change from all the micros around.

Out caching with Matagouri today making the most of the fine winters day in Wellies. He was keen to head out this way and I just knew we were going to end up in the dunes! Turned out to be a great day - this was first up on our chosen path and our first experience at the awesome caches that have been set up along here. Nice sized, great placements, well looked after and fun to find - thank you mar1sa. loved it - now I believe there is a few more to find up yonder...

Out at Foxton Beach today to do the Dunes series with Itchyfeet2020. This was the first one on our list. We approached along the track from the south, making a quick find. All good, although the track was very wet in places. Tftc!

Second time we came to collect the stroll in the dunes series after collecting two a week ago, but got this was the first one out of the four left of them to do, and are doing them in the wrong order, with finding the #1 cache last. Nice easy find. Tftc

Found it!

Back on track after being on moto tracks. Much easier to walk on!

Out for a beach trip with the geohound, it’s been a while since he’s had a beach activity so off we went. Thought we’d be out around 30 mins but somehow with starting at #6 instead of #1, getting a bit disorientated in the dunes and waiting for the motorbikes to move along we were out nearly 2 hours! The hound was very happy about this development and I managed to find all the caches we looked for Smile

Not sure what I was thinking coming up to find these today. It wasn't exactly a scorcher but it was certainly too hot to be wandering around the sand dunes. I came to this one first by heading north up the track - and that was pretty pleasant section of today's hike. But it would get worse. I managed to leave the GPS in the car so trying to navigate to the specific location with the phone which is never as a easy for some reason. Found quickly enough though. Not the first series of caches from this CO with giant containers so I assume they accumulate and need to be recycled somehow! TFT(huge)C.

Came to this one from No 3. The track was flooded at the corner here so did a bit of a bush bash so we could keep our feet dry. A quick find with angelic_kiwi - tftc

22-Dec-22
A lovely spot for lunch here before heading to the last two caches

16-Oct-22
It would of been much easier if we took the track but of course we went the hardest way possible in the Very toasty sun. We enjoyed the big caches had a break under the shade to cool off and went on to the next.
I wrote in the log and concealed it carefully back as found,
TFTCSL Thanks mar1sa for this Traditional cache!

Hadn't been up to Foxton for a while, it's always fun exploring the sand dunes and today was a beautiful day for it. We enjoyed a nice walk through the pine forest to get to this cache. Easily spotted by youngest son - one of the biggest caches he's seen. TFTC

This was supposed to have been the first find of the walk. It turned out to be the last of five as I ended up going in the opposite direction to that planned. Another satisfying find of a large container and a very appropriate "Old School" large cache to bring up my find number 9000. This is the sort of geocaching I much prefer. While I still have one left to find, I think this series deserves more than one favourite point so I have awarded a second one here. TVMFTC, mar1sa.

12.35pm. A bit easier to get to this one. Until I had to go bush to get down the last dune. At last I am on the track.
Thank you. David.

After a slightly confusing start, we were soon on the main track, and heading towards this cache, which was a quick easy find with markhnz. A nice big cache, although the contents are fairly depleted, compared with the rest in the series which remain well stocked. TFTC

We had an orienteering map of the area which was helpful for finding our way around.
Found with W.E.K.A.
Nice hide.
Thanks.

First of three caches found in the dunes, will return for the others in the future. Nice and easy find here, we had to be careful to avoid a trio of quad bikes, then a duo of trail bikes. All good fun in the shelter out of the wind. Phew.

A trip out to the township of Foxton, then Foxton Beach was the plan for today and the seasonably warm Autumn day was disrupted by a cooler Southerly, but nothing to daunt a seasoned cacher like myself. Mrs c was also keen to come along and we dropped into the Sunday markets at Sanson and Foxton to browse the contents of other peoples garages and loft spaces! A modest haul of five caches was just the ticket and get us underway with the latest Signal souvenir-fest. We also had a stroll through the dunes at Foxton Beach to make a start on 3 of the 'Large' sized caches placed there. The shelter from the breeze was great and built up a nice sweat whilst strolling through the dunes, collecting sand in my shoes. Thanks to the COs for their hides, and our enjoyment.

We were delighted with the weather as we headed off into the forest then along the sand dunes. There were a few people in the area walking their dogs but no one else geocaching that we saw.
This cache and the others in the series are what bought us to this area - imagine ticking up so many large finds in one day.

This was a very easy find in the first place I looked, and it was so well presented and stocked which would make it exciting for little people and those who like to trade swag.

We are in the North Island to try to complete the PWGT Tahi section so we are having to head to the far north. Along the way we will pick up a few other caches that take our interest such as those with lots of favourites or size large or letterbox caches or some that will just help us to fulfil some of the various challenges we are working on.

Thank you for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley

Having struggled with my MTB and a lot of pushing from #6 to #5 to #3 I at last had found a useful track and headed to this one. Good to be able to ride my bike although soft sand and standing water on the track slowed me down at times. Like the others this large container was easy to locate and is filled with goodies, all in excellent condition. Time had run out so it was a ride back into the familiar MTB park leaving #1 and #2 for another day. Thanks mar1sa!

Was in the area having attended TwigNZ’s Cannonball Run and associated events at Kimberley reserve. Had a couple of hours at the end of the day to do this series. Good to have some new caches in Foxton and there’re all large. Parked up at the end of Cousins Ave and set off in my bike. Had a great ride through the forest to Dune No 4 then had to leave the bike there and do the rest on foot before returning to it. No problem finding the caches and they were all in great condition. Recognised a couple of TB that I’ve previously picked up so left them for others. Took about two hours to complete. Thanks for the smileys.

Came for a hike in the dunes this afternoon with Mrs agcnz, we started at the end of Cousins Avenue. A rather hot afternoon so when it was available the shade of the pine forest was very welcome. Back on the main track now after having gone cross-country to get numbers 5 and 6 so much easier walking. The cache was a quick find, love the nice big container with all the goodies in it! I really enjoy this sort of caching. Signed log, TFTC.

{FTF} @ 2.44 and a First Day Find.

I'm back to work tomorrow, so was expecting to have a quiet afternoon of getting all my gear together etc in readiness... well of course that kinda went out the window when I spotted the publication of 6 new caches not too far from home.

Having effectively bush-bashed my way to #6 and then #5, I could see that the other 4 were on a marked track so made a beeline towards this cache, joining that track about 60m from the cache which was then a quick find thanks to the accurate co-ords and helpful Hint.

Another blank logbook, yay! So I was delighted to claim the first find. Again, another well stocked container which I'm sure will make a few finders happy, although I didn't take or leave anything as I'm not really a SWAG person.

I put everything back as found, and then thought about my route to the next...
Thanks for making my last afternoon of the Xmas/New Years break interesting.
