Being back in the area, I spotted that this cache has been reinstated. I thereafter recalculated new GZ and made my way to a quick find and empty log. Thanks atsmug for maintaining the multi.

Out and about with My good caching mate Omegaman1971, there are always plenty of laughs while we are turning caches into smiles.

This is one of the caches found today. With the numbers crunched we were soon at GZ signing the log book.

Thanks atsmug for the cache.

Thanks atsmug for the cache

After a bit of a false start with the coordinates and some help from jaamc_3335 the log was signed and safely put away! Thanks for the wonderfully informative cache!

18-Jun-23
Didn't have any problems wandering around collecting the required information. Seems like at least half the houses have been rebuilt since the estate was first built. The final GZ was quiet but very fitting.
An interesting bit of local history atsmug!

31,999. Found with minniek during our Great Victorian County Hunt this long weekend. Our aim is to finish off Victoria - minniek needing 14 and myself 7.

We left Canberra after work on Friday and stayed overnight at a familiar free camp at Oxley Reserve. By lunchtime we hit Melbourne proper and next on the list was 'Banyule'. This was a very interesting cache to use to tick off the county. Quick find once at GZ. Stamped the log, replaced the cache as found, then headed off to the next cache on our list.

Thanks atsmug !!

Headed away this long weekend with fitzy_1965 for the Great Victorian County hunt. Our mission is to finish off Victoria.

We drove to Oxley Reserve and stayed there Friday night so that we could get an early start. LOL How we managed to sleep in, I do not know but off we set to end up in Sale for the night.

Today we managed to tick off 7 of the 14 counties I needed.

All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned. And thanks to all the COs who continue to help us reach our goals.

I had no idea about this tribute to winners of the Victoria Cross. The display boards are well designed and tell each man's story. I collected the needed information, made the calculations and set off for GZ. Tftc.

30-Apr-23
Needed to find help online to convert distance and bearing offsets into GPS bearings but then found the cache OK

That's a very good spot for a cache!

Thanks to atsmug for the fun and the adventure.

A bit of after-work caching with Geoturtle37, making the most of this lovely weather before it disappears.

Solved this one at home after photographing various bits of information last time we were in the area.

Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, atsmug

Mrs Papi was out with OHC and found themselves in the area to finally look for, and find, this cache. The work had been completed after a previous visit. Thanks for the cache.

20-Mar-23
What a great little park secreted away so well. The find was made nice with no problems and no muggles. Thanks for the cache.

20-Nov-22
This was a very interesting multi and found the cache easily after working out how to get there.
THanks for the fun and highlighting another Victoria Cross estate atsmug

19-Nov-22
On my way to the Whittlesea Mega. With the numbers sorted the projection led me to a likely location. At GZ, a quick scan of the area revealed the cache.
Travelled back to my home state of Victoria from New Zealand to attend the Whittlesea MEGA (and maybe visit family!)
Thanks for the cache, atsmug

We were on our way to visit relatives and Mrs Riddell likes multis, though Mr Riddell doesn’t have much time for them, so we have to negotiate!
This was a very interesting multi.
We learnt how several suburbs and streets were named….apt honours for a VC recipient!
We quickly obtained the information and did the projection to lead us to the find.
A simple but effective hide in this very appropriate and tucked away location.

A fantastic multi that was found during an exploration of the estate.
Awesome!
Thanks atsmug.

A good find in a quiet.out.of the way park tftc

Solved this one easily as I have a passing interest in these brave soldiers. Took a minute to find at GZ.

03-Oct-22
While browsing the map for which caches I should do in the near future I noticed this one and even though it probably took longer to research it online than actually going there I still managed to get some good looking coordinates.
Today with geokid in tow (gladly) we arrived and there were a couple of muggles sitting nearby and playing with their dog. We waited a couple of minutes but they hung around so I pretended to be playing a game with my kid (which technically we were) and they didn't even care or even look at us. I then took note of the hint and found the cache in the 1st place I looked and we headed off with the muggles none the wiser.
Thanks atsmug for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

After a very long day of placing new hides for the Whittlesea MEGA with ahomburg, I was on my way home, but not before needing to stop for a multi.

The information was gathered easily, however I have to admit driving around GZ twice before realising I would need to access it a little differently. It pays to look at the map more closely before departing.

I made my way in along a rather sloshy path and fortunately soon had the cache in hand under torchlight.

Thanks atsmug for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to find.

Isaviv. A short walk from home on a sunny bit chilly afternoon.

This one was straight forward but took a little while. Unfortunately the final location was in completely the opposite direction from where I've walked from. Oh well more steps for me! GZ was a very pleasant spot. Tftc and the history lesson.

31-Jul-22
Found this after Sunday sport. Loved reading about the people and a great little hide that had my 6yo Geokid stumped.

02-Jun-22
Calculations completed some time ago. Now we are in the area and a quick find in a nice quiet little park.

02-Jun-22
I mosied on over to here after today's appointment figuring that I'd grab the clues and come back another time. Once I'd done the projection though, I decided 'why not' and not long after, I was signing the log at 14:55.

A very interesting excursion. Big Grin

TNLNSL, although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks atsmug.

29-May-22
Bunadoorian and I went for a walk this morning and while we were out we picked up the clues required. We came home and did the calculations. We then headed back and found the cache. TFTC and for bringing us here atsmug.

29-May-22
I always enjoy learning about our Australian history so the getting of the information for the calculations. I didn't realise that these were all so close to my home. So after the calculations were completed Grub62 and I headed off to GZ. A surprising area was found that I didn't know was here. The cache itself was found without too much difficulty. Not quite what I was expecting. All in all a very pleasurable experience was had and not too far from home. TFTC.

Sneaky lil hide! We’re not the best with projections so didn’t have exact coordinates but quite clearly were in the right place. Had a thorough search of all candidates and almost overlooked it, but thankfully one of us has good eyes. This puzzle rocked!

Sometimes parental responsibilities get in the way of our recreational activities... and sometimes, they work in our favour.

This afternoon, it was the latter, as I had time to kill while a child was at their appointment. It was going to be close, but I'd have enough leeway to at least gather some information.

So down the hill, I trotted.

Well... I hadn't known that one of the suburbs I've lived in was named after a Victoria Cross recipient...

Details collected, I looked at the coordinates.

Oh.

At an even brisker pace, I headed to a fitting location I never knew existed, and, thankfully, a very quick find.

Thanks, atsmug, for a most informative multi.

By the time I rushed back to my starting point, sweating profusely from the effort, I was only a couple of minutes late. Which was fine, as the appointment went a few minutes later than that.

Phew. What a workout.

Enjoyed finding the information for this and happy with our final co-ords. Spent a long time at GZ looking at all the likely spots but had no joy. A neighbour came to check on us as well.

14-Apr-22
Such a sad loss of brave young lives. Nice that they are remembered in the Victoria Cross Estate and having street names to honour them. Thanks for bringing me here and for putting a cache here to bring others to the area. Lest We Forget.

11-Apr-22
Found it on my second attempt... after getting *muggled out* on my first attempt! My first attempt went well through the information collection stage... GZ calculated to be a nice stroll away... so off I set quite optimistically. Approaching GZ, my optimistic mood evaporated as there was a muggle sitting quite comfortably reading a book on the park bench in front of GZ. Clearly they weren't going anywhere... so I was forced to as I was after a non-Trad cache for the ** The Non-Traditional Calendar Challenge **.

As today was another on which I needed a non-Trad cache for that challenge, I decided to make a return visit to see if the muggle had finished their book. Much better luck today! No one in sight so I was able to quickly find the cache... and put the park bench to good use myself to plan my next caches.

Thanks **atsmug** for this Multi with an interesting history lesson attached.

This is a very interesting estate. I had not realised why the streets were named as they are. It all makes sense now. At GZ the cache was found speedily.

02-Apr-22
A clever hide, and a great bit of local history with it. TFTC!

02-Apr-22
Heh. Had a very good idea of where the cache would be from the initial location as I had planned a similar multi - glad you beat me to it (procrastinator extraordinaire)! Tftc!

31-Mar-22
I gathered up the necessary numbers on Tuesday nights and actually tried to find the cache yesterday with no luck. So after some test and adjust (and a little help from the CO) I was back at the GZ signing the log book. The final location is a nice little spot, hidden away. TFTC. SL.

Yay a new cache in Macleod where I play competition tennis

A fortnight ago I came past before tennis and gathered the required information. At home I did all the calculations so that as I was coming to tennis tonight I could search for the find.

I was concerned as there had been a DNF recently, however the cache was found safe and sound with spot on coordinates.

Thanks atsmug for another great multi

27-Mar-22
We feel like we made it to the correct final destination. However, no luck. Thanks anyway!

Find number 10370 at 10:44:24 am on Friday the 25 March 2022
Out looking for a multi for my finds by calendar day and they're getting further and further away but what a goodie this one was.
Wandered around this little park gathering the clues and learning about this estate things that I was never aware of. One of my life long friends grew up in this estate 50 years ago, I used to visit there all the time back in the 70's.
Loved the history lesson, sad thoughts of lives wasted, if only people could sort their differences out across a table or over a beer...
**Thanks for placing this cache atsmug**

Is this really the second atsmug cache that I have attempted today?

Having a son who is currently serving in the ADF my family has been on a steep learning curve and this local history will certainly add to our knowledge base.

I visit Macleod/Springthorpe often and am aware of the location of some of the military history in the area but I have never paused here to examine these information boards.

Today, after collecting the required information, I was able to easily find the cache and add my name to the log.

Thank you atsmug for another very well researched and informative local cache.
I believe that I previously found this container 899 days ago.

Alas, there was no hope for a FTF on this one as I was on the other side of town when it was published. I had the time this morning to complete this great multi. I really enjoyed it. Thanks atsmug.

###Published under revised Covid-19 restrictions.###
##Please remember that Covid-19 is a highly contagious and infectious disease and from a Geocaching perspective, local laws/requirements should be complied with and the use of hand sanitizer and mask, as appropriate, is recommended.##

Another outstanding effort added to a substantial portfolio of atsmug.

Though the current situation with a recent Victoria Cross winner is making nightly news in a defamation case, just seeing these young faces who lost their innocence fighting overseas and for some, their lives.

War is such a sickening pursuit.

Found under the watchful eyes of roofers spraying the neighbouring roof without fall protection or even a mask in near perfect weather under a persistent cloud of overspray.

The bananas offered them each a mask but they flatly refused. What is it with some tradesmen that think the whole world is against them?

Anyway after quick recalculation the hidden and rarely visited park revealed a treasure not of engineering brilliance.

And for what is going on in Ukraine. Well now is another story. Lucky Australians will not be fighting that one.

At 11:45 a quick find after some interesting reading. Alas only a {STF} The pic could be from anywheres

Out with xambo4u for a short day of caching, we did a couple of multis on our way to Diamond Creek. What a great way to pay tribute to these people. A lovely multi with a well hidden cache. Thanks atsmug.

Out and about with echidna44 for a short day to clear out some trads and multis to our north. Loved reading about our heros. Picked up clues and moved on the make the find. Excellent choice to respect out fallen atsmug. Its get a tick from me. Cache in good condtion. Thanks for the cache atsmug, love your work.

I’m always up for local history, so while FTF was long gone I stopped here this evening. There must be a story about why John James Dwyer was honoured in the estate - everyone else is Victorian. I’m not backing those who want the street renamed - it’s just mildly curious. Anyway, the numbers were very clear.

At GZ, I searched long enough that one of the locals came to ask about what I was doing, because she’d noticed people loitering (her words) today. “Have you heard about Geocaching?” I replied enthusiastically. She said she had, and though she asked me some questions which made it clear that she hadn’t, I think my mostly harmless vibe allayed any fears. She wished me luck and went inside. A few minutes later, I made the find and loitered no longer. Thanks atsmug
