The boys worked this one out the other day but we all ventured out today to find it. What a fun cache.
After persevering with the ad lab, we were rewarded with this terrific bonus cache. Tftc. Favourite point from us
**Found whilst in Ballarat for the day** Great job on the Adventure Lab and a favourite point for the hide The thing I love about caching is the interesting stories, the extra interest and attention you take when traveling, the sight-seeing, the history, the interests of the individual COs, *the fantastic photo opportunities* and sometimes finding places that even some locals dont know about. I, like most cachers, look for more than a mint tin under a bush. I appreciate the time that most COs take to construct a cache and write up a comprehensive listing and to create an interesting cache. I love taking the roads less traveled. I love the diversity of the land, the different scenes in the different seasons, the fresh air, the open plains, the lofty vistas and the magnificent waters. I even enjoy the longer scenic walks although I'm not as young and as fit as I used to be. I love the different coffee shops I find. I enjoy the times I cache with others but I usually cache on my own. Thank you ThaKraken for highlighting this area and for adding this Earth Cache to my real-life treasure hunt. Appreciate your efforts and the lessons learnt. - P*Took*: Nothing*Left*: Fave Point**Warning**, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to learning new things and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Cache on! **#18524**
Found It.........With Mr H_3's holidays fast running out we decided to have a caching road trip. After completing the AdLab we set off in search of this one. Once at GZ a quick search soon yielded the cache and with the log signed we moved onto the next one. Thanks ThaKraken for the cache. Once again an awesome job for the AdLab and the cache for the final. P.S. we are giving this a Fav point
Completed the ad lab awhile ago and this was the day to get the bonus. Loved this cache, great theme and well done! TFTC
Found it today, we completed the lab a little while ago, and we have a bit of a calendar filling run on, and this is close to my work, short walk from my car parking place and soon had logged a cache for today! Love the hide and the container holder. Favourite point from me. TFTC
We completed the ad lab a few weeks ago we went searching for the cache today we got GZ and saw a geo trail and me the youngest monster went on the trail and found the cache. TFTC.
Found during an extended weekend in the Ballarat area with e.gregory1, with the main aim of completing the Ballarat GeoTour, but taking the opportunity to attend a number of events and CITOs, and searching for a good range of caches while touring around the district. Thanks for the Adventure Lab and Bonus cache ThaKraken!
Found with FeatherWaite on a 4-day trip to Victoria. From Adelaide. Our main aim was to complete the Ballarat Geotour and other caches of interest in the broader Ballarat area. There were also a number of events and a CITO to attend. The weather was on the warm side, but not too bad for this time of year, which made for pleasant camping each night. The cache was found in good order. Thanks ThaKraken for the Adventure Lab and bonus cache.
We were in Ballarat doing a few adventure labs and other caches and also trying to finish this ad lab that has taken us four visits to complete.Once that was finished we were rewarded with a set of co-ords for this cache and we headed off here. The GPSr pointed us directly to a likely location where the excellent themed cache in a great themed area was happily located quickly and our name was added to the log and everything was returned as it was,Many thanks for the ad lab and this great bonus.
Find number 12883 at 8:40:17am on Saturday the 27 January 2024Staying in Ballarat for the weekend for two friends 60th birthdays, combined on the one night. And, I have the rest of the weekend to grab a cache or two...., or three, or four, or, well, you know the story Loved the adventure and the destination, what can I say Well worth the award nomination and all the accolades...**Thanks for placing this cache ThaKraken**---Don't miss finishing the Ballarat GeoTour before it ends on 4th March 2024. A list of the geocaches can be found [here](https://coord.info/BM9GWJ5). The final GeoTour Event is the [Farewell Ballarat GeoTour](https://coord.info/GCAFQ8B) on the 18th February 2024!You can also get prepared for the 2023 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards by checking out our preliminary lists [here](https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/information/great-caching-lists/).
Its day 2 of Peppas plan to traipse around Ballarat and surrounds chasing the geotour and easily getting sidetracked by shiny things. With Beardman75 at the wheel we have covered a lot of ground today ticking off oldies, challenges and new LGAs. After dinner this was our last stop for the evening. We had done the ad lab in stages as we passed by on various laps around town, definitely know a bit more about trains now! A nicely themed final container. Thanks for showing us around ThaKrakenFind #5271
Nicely themed container. Found with Peppa and Davinells. Thanks for the cache ThaKraken
Day 2 of our Ballarat Boys BreakAn early start sees Breadman75, Davinells and I cruising the mean streets of Ballarat and surrounds in our hire car, the Peugeot Party Prowler We still havent worked out how to unlock the doors from the inside thoughHaving spent the day taking care of the Geo Tour caches away from the centre of Ballarat, a couple of challenges all over Mt Beckworth and a couple of LGAs further out weve still got time to collect one or two more before food and bed oh and a couple of Ad LabsThe final find of the day and after preserving with the AL it was necessary to find the bonus or so I told Breadman & DavinellsWeve not encountered the multiple answer format before its a novel way to get us to absorb more information Thanks ThaKraken
I came up to Ballarat for the long weekend to make a start on a few of the Ad Labs that are around here, catch up with my caching buddie GemmaSistema for a fun day out and to also attend a couple of the New Year events.Arrived yesterday afternoon in the beautiful sunshine then got up this morning to be greated by morning drizzle, oh well Ballarat lived up to its reputation again. After travelling around Ballarat collecting clues from the Ad Lab I soon had a set of coords that I was happy with.Made my way to GZ and soon located a well themed cache.A fav goes out to you for this one. Thanks ThaKraken TFTC.
Out for an early morning lab cache hunt and picked this as I appreciate more when there is a bonus cache.Nicely themed and all good at GZ.Thanks to ThaKraken for the fun and the adventure.
Spent the day around Ballarat and as I had a car, rather than come up by train as I had the last 2 visits, did the more far flung Ad Lab stages. So the bonus info lead me to GZ. I spend far too long returning to this area a number of times and not seeing the cache!
Today we explored Ballarat and surrounds using geocaching as a guide. We enjoyed travelling through the countryside and visiting new, to us, locations. We found a variety of hides with varying degrees of difficulty.Once collected all the required LAB cache answers we made a quick find at GZ>Many thanks to all CO's for your cache placement.
Got 5 days off from work so I decided to come to Ballarat and do the Geo Tour before its gone, also grabbing random caches and Adventures labs along my journey. So thanks to all who have placed caches. Sl cache replaced.
Completed the AL a little while ago and headed out for the bonus for today. Cache found without issue. Both the cache and the location were a tribute the AL name. Log signed and I was off for another one.
Thanks ThaKraken...
Thanks ThaKraken...

All I'd planned for today was getting the train to Geelong North and helping out at the cleanup. Anything after that would be a bonus.
Collecting smileys with feathertop was certainly a bonus.
She dropped me off at a station on her way home... and that's how I found myself in Ballarat. Just in time to catch a train home. Thanks for the fun, Sally.
Now, I didn't catch that train, or the next. Where would be the fun in that?
I had a further flung point on this Adventure covered on a previous trip, so all the remaining ones were close by. Pausing only for a chat with a train enthusiast on the footbridge near the turntable, I collated some numbers and took a walk to find a neatly themed container.
Nice one, ThaKraken.

**Kraken Train History Bonus**
When we started the AdLab it was still relatively early in the morning, very icy cold, and BEFORE COFFEE! So we were a bit dumbo on the initial double word answers, plus one of the answers eluded us for quite a while (did I mention it was B.C?).
HOWEVER, once we figured out the requirements, we were flying like the LNER Class A3 4472 (Google it). We were able to calculate where the fabulously themed bonus had stationed itself (GZ), and JG made the discovery and tooted with delight! FP. Congratulations ThaKraken on your COTY nomination, and thanks for the bonus hide here.

After completing the AdLab this was a nice and easy find. I love the themed container. TFTC
Nice easy find after taking a while to work out the clues on some of the the AL questions. Thanks
I highly recommend that the Adventure Labs be done in daylight. Although it was only about 5:20pm when I started looking for the clues and darkness quickly settled in, because we’re so close to the winter solstice, which is less than a week away! Finding answers to satisfy the AdLab’s computer mind ; the lack or not of an apostrophe, right order, which word is the right word, all added to the difficulty. I’m afraid I needed to resort to a PAF to get the grasp of the answers. I did three last night and finished them off this morning before heading back home. I finally muddled enough information to get the right answers and worked out the final numbers for this cache. The reward was well worth the worry and stress over it all. I can see why it made it to the Cache of the Year awards nomination list! I’m adding a favourite point too!

Away in Ballarat for a few days with Happy pants. Now the Geo tour has been conquered, we have the opportunity to grab some other caches around the area.
This was one of the hides we found after completing the rather challenging adventure lab. Nice to get this nice bonus container.
Thanks for placing this hide and doing the maintenance, so we can make this find.

We stumbled across this AL when Telstra 4G went on the blink as we started caching in Ballarat, we went offline and did a GA virtual at the station, then data returned and we pushed on with it, grabbing spots as we went.
We finished it in the dark after tea last night, on the line no less!
Cache was found in good condition…

scramping & I made our way to Ballarat for the long weekend on a mission to complete the GeoTour, which we accomplished. Now to concentrate on other caches around the area.
An interesting Adventure Lab cache. Some of the answers were not obvious to us initially but got there in the end. I love trains (not as much as Sheldon though, Big Bang Theory reference)
I loved the cool cache hide for this bonus.
Thanks for the cache & the Adventure, TheKraken

Day 2 in Ballarat with Tankengine and Youban to do the GeoTour mainly, plus a couple of other caches and catch up with caching buddies.
We had a full day caching and enjoying ourselves then went to friends for dinner, drinks and chat about our adventures of the day. The pizza we got was so yummy as was the ice cream for dessert.
This cache: The AL was a bit of work on a hot day. But GZ was cute and appropriate. Tftc!!!

November 2022. Time for the second Victorian Mega of the year. This time in Whittlesea. What is it with W's? Time for another epic road trip. Who will join our merry crew? We traveled from South Australia and camped in the pig pen. It rained. It blew. It was sunny. It was not sunny. All four seasons. Beautiful location and some awesome caches.
Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.

Whittlesea Mega Wobble and Wade Tour: Day 2: Ballarat Geotou r
Once again myself and Anymules were in Victoria on our way to a Mega event. We had scheduled two nights in Ballarat to do the tour and grab a few other caches in passing. [^] We started last night and had all of today to try and get them done. Wrong. Despite a full day from dawn to dusk we haven't finished and will be at it again tomorrow morning. This is what we did get to though.
Really enjoyed the labs and the cache hide was very fitting. FP from me for the hide. [:X]
***Thanks ThaKraken for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. ***

Jenno3 and I were messaging each other regarding the arduous chore of shopping. Ugh!! We finished messaging and we’re about to head off shopping when I got another message from her. How about a cache instead? Oh hell yeah!!!! So I rang her in my way in and met up. We completed an ad lab then decided to have a crack at finishing this one since I had started it whilst doing the the othery. I really enjoyed cruising around finding out all this train stuff! Cool bonus!! Tftc

I managed to do all but 1 adventure lab location for this one last time I was here so today that was rectified and after entering the coordinates wrongly and thinking it wasn't a great place for a cache I soon realised my error and we were signing the log. A favourite from me.
Thanks ThaKraken for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

Today I head out with buhfuhguh to attend a couple of events in Ballarat later in the day, we got off to an early start to target a few other caches along the way.
After completing the AdLab part of this one earlier on in the day, it was now time to complete the journey and find this bonus cache.
We headed to GZ, made our way around where the cache holder was spotted, the log was retrieved, signed and replaced.

Another weekend another caching trip to a CITO with stemicmitsar. Out for revenge I suppose on finishing a series that be just ran out of time on last time we were out this way, with the extra addition of not having an essential tool for a cache along this way. More prepared and with plenty of sunlight we set off to turn some caches in to smilies.
Thanks for the cache and the little adventure.

After the fun of the Blue Switch Day Celebration Event we were able to set about converting some of the unfound caches around town to smiley tokens on our map. We actually heard a number of trains during the day.
After completing the railway adventure it was a real bonus to stamp a visit here.
Thanks ThaKraken for the Ballarat rail history lesson.

We have headed to Ballarat to attend doctor appointments and in our spare time head out to areas that we have not cached in to find the many geocaches that have popped up in the forest areas. Most of the roads were acceptable, some geocachers were on walking/bike riding section which hubby hiked on and I drove the car and would pick him up along the way. All geocaches were found and were in good condition. SL TFTC

Set out today to notch up some caches and reach the top of Mt Everest! Found the first 5 caches during a continued period of rain in the old town! Still learners on these Lab
caches, so took us a while to sort some things, had to return home for lunch to get the Bonus Cache page on our desk top, seems odd. Anyway, we were able to slip back out and find this lovely cache this afternoon. Signed log at 3:45pm. Thanks for an interesting look at the history of trains and some much needed points for Everest!

It was great to be back in the area caching and catching up with my buddy Rebel Acts.
I had planned on being here for a few days but unfortunately, work got in the way again, so made the most of a sunny Sunday.
So many new caches online around Ballarat and Creswick since the last time I was up this way, and it's awesome to see some lab caches here as well.
This is one of the caches that I found on the day, cheers for the cache and the opportunity for a smile on the map.

Some good friends had decided to head to Ballarat for a few weeks so I decided I needed a break and joined them, we had a great time out caching as well as sharing stories and laughs around a meal or two. I really love the area of Ballarat there is so much history and I am sure it has the largest population of Oak trees in the Country.
This is one of the caches found today. I loved the lab and the final cache was fantastic, gets a Fav from Me.
Some caches logged as RASP rebel acts &Ski pair.
Thanks ThaKraken for the cache.

We had a bit of difficulty with this Lab early on while we got into the swing of the format, but once on our way it fell into place and then things went smoothly. At one point we were in real difficulty until we realized that a truck was parked in front of the sign we really wanted obscuring it, and not the other one we were using.
We always enjoy anything to do with trains, and this was no exception. Thanks for the Lab and the bonus.
With work encouraging us to take some holidays and Mr SKI having quite a few weeks up his sleeve it was time to take another short break and do some sightseeing and caching in parts of Victoria we seldom visit.
This time we decided it would be Ballarat. There is a wide variety of cache types and quite a number of Adventure Labs to do, so the area is quite attractive. And that doesn't include the historical and interest aspects as well.
We organized to meet up with some friends while there so we would have the opportunity to do some joint as well as solo caching.
We have already had some great adventures on a few challenging caches that generated a lot of fun and as usual always good to find some pre-solved puzzles.
All logs signed as SKI Pair, RASP (Rebel Acts & SKI Pair or SP depending on size of logs and availability of space.
Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache ThaKraken.

What a fantastic cache!!! So good and a definite big favorite from me. Really enjoyed the Adventure Lab and follow up cache
Parking near GZ was a little limited but we managed to squeeze in. The nicely themed container was quickly discovered - a fitting end to the Adventure Lab and worth a favourite. Thanks to ThaKraken for the adventure and bonus.
After a fun filled day, finding a water cache and attending an event down in Buninyong, we made time to complete this Adventure Lab series before tea. Accompanied by Treking Trev and chooknchunk, we enjoyed visiting each location, who doesn't like trains. We got there in the end and found the nicely crafted and themed bonus cache. Thanks ThaKraken for the Labs and this bonus cache, enhancing the game board and adding to our enjoyment.
A lovely day for a day trip to Ballarat with RoamingHowie, Papi4506 & Geoturtle37.
A great final for an informative and fun AdLab.
Thanks for bringing us here today by placing this cache, ThaKraken

Found with sharkiefan.
Back in Ballarat today to tackle a few adventure labs (and finals) and attend the event in Buninyong.
Had a lot of laughs driving around. With only a couple of back tracks taken.
A great final to the ad lab. Well worth a fave.

After a fun filled day finding a water cache and attending an event down in Buninyong, we had enough time to complete this Adventure Lab series before tea. Accompanied by Treking Trev and Micaparamedic, we enjoyed visiting each location - who doesn't like trains and train history. Although we had a couple of hiccups finding the right answers (or spelling! oops), we got there in the end and found the nicely crafted and very thematic bonus cache. Well done and Thank you to ThaKraken for the Labs and for this cache too.
How appropriate. Found with a train just pulling up. Thanks for the interesting ad lab and this bonus.
Road Trip! The weather looked good for the day and a plan had been hatched with kayaks onboard to complete some waterway caches around the Ballarat area and then drop in to the afternoon GeoTour event.
A great historical train journey around Ballarat. Interesting to see some of the old signaling still in place. After completing the lab we set off to find the very appropriate cache container.
Thanks ThaKraken for placing this gamepiece in the wild for us to find.

Found with FUF009 while in Ballarat for the day. I really enjoyed this AdLab and the final was cool too. Tftc
Found by Mary and David at 13:50. Love your work and, of course, A FP. So much to learn, and we do love history. Plenty of parking today, and we're here early for the GeoTour Event later this afternoon. Our thanks to ThaKraken.
I did the lab over a week and this morning I came back over this way to find the well themed final.
Cheers

I like Ad Labs that you don't have to do in order, so this one had chipping away over a couple of days. On to Gz and a well themed cache awaited. Fave point awarded. Cigc. Tftc
One half of the team and wozzle68 grew up across the road form said railway line, boom gates ringing all day and night and watching train shunting from our front yard.
Today we enjoyed our tour and once we had finished our train history adventure we were able to add our name to the excellent themed cache.
Thanks ThaKraken for the memories of the historic Ballaarat Railway system.
A favourite for the fun cache.
