Big day out today collecting unfound caches before they disappear. Thanks Robmc
The time has come to retire the 2023 Rutherglen Mega Caches. We hope everyone enjoyed finding them.Wiser than Owls.
Woohoo! We are celebrating 3 milestones today- 1) Our wedding anniversary. 2) We are finished finding all the geocaches from last year's Mega before they are archived next week and 3) Creating a new record for us for finding the most caches in one day. What a Big day!!! TFTC, series and all the caches from the Mega too!
This is our 3rd attack at this easter series and had a clear run and no hiccups. Thanks to Wiser than Owls for maintaining these caches.
Were back in this area to get as many of these caches before they are archived in a week or two. Having solved all the puzzles it would be a pity to not get the caches. However, we are quite exhausted from a weeks travelling to Canberra from the GeoBash and I only managed to find about a dozen before falling in a heap. This was one of the easier finds with accurate coordinates and in an obvious spot in the landscape.
I have been wanting to finish off this series for some time, I started it back at the start of last year, today was the day, a nice drive along finding the caches as I went on the back roads, all caches found are still in good condition here,On the way home from the Capital Geobash Mega in Canberra, I had set up the night Corowa, today main aim was to finish of the remains I had left in Rutherglen and surrounds after missing the mega here last year. After completing the majority of the wherigo series, it was onto multis then ladder series before finding a few walking caches and the remains of the puzzle series. Thanks for the cache
12:14After a couple of full on days with n0w0rries+Wife, I was out on my own this morning hoping to complete the Easter 2023 GeoArt before Easter 2024...These were the ones the others had already found during their extended stay last year.It didn't take me long to get into a rhythm, and most of the caches were quickly found, though a few took just long enough to make me a little anxious. Thanks, Wiser than Owls.#8551
We are getting much closer to Canberra and our accommodation for the Mega. All the caches we found today are in good condition. We even found our two house mates at a cache, what a bonus. SL TFTC
Decided to spend the day in and around Rutherglen collecting some prizes before they are archived. TFTC and awesome series Wiser than Owls
Spending the weekend in Rutherglen to complete some of the caches before being archived. Many thanks Wiser than Owls for providing this game piece for our enjoyment.
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Wending our way towards Canberra for the Mega. Orignally we planned a whole week here to collect the most smilies we could but alas plans had to be changed and now we are in a rush. Today we tackled the Easter geo art series and anything else that jumped in our way. After the overnight drizzle there wasnt much dust until after lunch. We did make a big detour to have lunch at Parkers Pies after reading previous logs. Let us just say they did not disappoint.Boy so much tree debris from the February storm and sooooo many tumbleweeds. Got sprung a couple of times by locals offering to help the lost West Aussies but told them we were on a treasure hunt and they went oh so your Geocaching then. Did you get the one down the corner. [B)]TFTC Wiser than Owls
Today was our 2nd trip along these treed backroads to chip away at the Easter Wherigos. We started early to avoid the worst of the heat and appreciated lots of shady trees to park under and very quiet roads. Thanks for the creative geoart and cache maintenance Wiser than Owls.
In the area with AnyMules, brisal5 and 6Hinemoa2 signing all logs as BAB6 to save space in the log books or their personal stamp. This may be the ageing Bushfires last Mega as the effects of advancing MND continues to advance but as I said that after the Whittlesea Mega, we will see.I must thank my three mates and lots of other folk for all the help that I have received over the last year or so for which I will always be very grateful. This cache was found on our travels around this great area while attending the Mega Event in Rutherglen early April 2023.I am slowly logging these caches but I don't know if I will finish only time will tell. You never know what life has in store for you so you must expect the unexpected. Thanks to Wiser than Owls for placing this cache.
A pleasant Sunday in spring and time to knock off a few more of these Wherigos over Rutherglen way. The water on the sides of the roads has dried up and the grass has been slashed - a double win today. So off we go. Some of these have been found recently (like yesterday!) and others havent been visited for a couple of months. We thought we should leave a few farm animals along these country roads. Spontaneous Spring Victorian RoadtripDay Four: Wangaratta to MorangWeather: still superb! One of twelve Easter 2023 wherigo caches logged today. I made a small dent in this series during the mega, but there were so many other things competing for limited time, as is the case again today. At this rate, these caches will provide me with years of entertainment. The roads were quiet, just a couple of passing vehicles. Some cows had escaped and it looked like this happens regularly. The canola looks magnificent in the sunshine. All caches were found fairly promptly and are in reasonable condition. Thanks so much for this impressive body of work Wiser Than Owls. Its officially a mega.GCA1DNA The Great Leap ForwardAdelaide, South Australia, February 29, 2024.Wed love to have your company.
A couple of days away with BogongHazy had us meet Sorceysal at Yarrawonga, and from there we took on these Easter Wherigos. A great day where we found just under 150 caches in just under 6 hours. A few slippery tracks had us bogged at one stage, but a local was along in under 5 minutes with a strap to pull us out. So fortunate to live in such a great country.
Most of these caches were simple finds, but a few took the 3 of us a little longer than we'd hoped. Can't thank you enough Wiser Than Owls for the immense work involved in setting these up, and continuing the maintenance. Teams like you make this game so much better for the benefit of all.

A long day leaving Shepp to drive to Yarrawonga to pick up Sorceysal had LittleBoss2 and I on an amazing day collecting nearly 150 caches. A real team effort and lots of comments on the amazing work Wizer Than Owls have put into this series, and continue to maintain months after the mega. We can't thank you enough for this awesome series that contribute so much to our game. Most were quick finds, and all were great containers that will last the distance. Thanks immensely Wizer Than Owls
Love a road trip with Bogonghazy and Littleboss 2. Lots of water and only got bogged once. LOL. Caches were all found and were in good order. You certainly have put in a might effort to enable geocachers to get hours of enjoyment and for that we thank you.
After spending the week packing up the house and moving, some time out was needed. A call out to Lillieb05 and a couple of hours were spent tackling more of the Easter caches.
I still have quite a few to find, so I will be back, im thoroughly enjoying the series so far.
Thanks Wiser than Owls for placing these for us to find.

Headed to Rutherglen with MrsH as we are rapidly running out of daylight to finish the current wheel of challenges souvenir... completed another section of wherigos, a few AdLab locations, a couple of trads, and earnt the desired souvenir. A top morning with a couple of curious farmers, plenty of rain, some dodgy back roads, parker pies, a much needed yack, a dead cow, and the odd bit of rat poo! Thanks to all COs for maintaining the hides.
Another fun filled day with MrsWackyweedo.
We were chasing the last handful of caches to complete the current souvenir so once again decided on a quick trip to Rutherglen and of course a stop off for pies!
We only encountered one sticky beak farmer, a stinky dead cow, lots of cute baby lambs, a few drops of rain and spotted an extra cache thrown into a paddock. Thanks for the caches WTO! Cheers.

We cycled a rectangular circuit of roads that contained 74 of this series. Took us seniors about 5.5 hours and 26.5km. The average distance between caches was 300m. Perfect for cycling. It would have been a pain in the neck to do these as drive-bys. The caches were nicely placed and the gravel roads were in excellent condition. The terrain was virtually flat and only one car drove by us.
In fact this was a great location for P.T. We quite enjoyed the exercise, scenery, farm animals and birds that we saw. As well as the variation in cache hides.
Thank you very much Wiser than Owls.

One of the crappiest attempts at stamping a log that I've ever done but I didn't want to take up anymore room so I took a photo of it and it is attached to my log super sorry at that attempt
Log written by ChatGPTAnother day, another geocaching adventure in the beautiful countryside surrounding Rutherglen. Today's mission: to find a series of Whereigos hidden along the rural roads. With our GPS devices at the ready, we set out on our journey, eager to explore new areas and uncover hidden treasures. Driving along the winding roads, we enjoyed the tranquility of the countryside, with its rolling hills and expansive fields. Following the clues provided by the Whereigos, we navigated from one location to the next, each cache bringing us closer to our goal. Along the way, we encountered stunning vistas and encountered wildlife, adding to the excitement of the day. After several hours of driving and searching, we successfully located all the caches, each one a testament to the beauty and adventure that geocaching has to offer.
Came over the mountain Friday with mezza74 for the Rutherglen Mega meeting up with gwd.aussie and Sharon14 who came over a couple of days earlier. Solved many many caches before the trip sadly more that we will be able to find while in the area.
Last cache run before we have to start heading homewards bound.

Why not find some more wherigo, so we did.
But only after having a nice parkers pie first for breakfast.
To save time and to not take up room on the logs we sometimes signed as GDS+M

I was fortunate enough to be invited on a roadtrip from Adelaide to attend the Rutherglen mega. Across the week we cached with many different teams and signed the log various ways, but most often my own team name/ initials, or as Fabulous Randoms. I spent most of our time with GoodLook, LiB and feathertop, but also teamed up with AnyMules, Brisal, micaparamedic and others.

Our last day in town, and ahomburg was determined to finish the wherigos. So out we came for an enjoyable time. We managed to knock them off quickly with a “your side/my side” routine.
Thanks for the caches I really appreciate the hours and hours you have spent putting these caches out for us to find.

After lunch we set off to find more of the FTF series and stopped at any other caches we came across along the way. By now JMelb had taken over the driving and GMelb hopped out at each cache. Sometimes JMelb did too. Finishing FTF's we then collected some Easter WIG on the way back to the HH. We hunted hig and low for this one. The other cachers had turned the corner and had finished their run as they already had the ones along this next road, so they chatted for a bit before heading off. We continued on and GMelb made an easy find of this one. This was the last for the day, although later in the evening we did 2 adlabs

We continued on the Easter Series today, the wind was very cold but the rain held off for most of the day. Some finds were easy, some were hard and we met a few cachers along the way. We admired how many natural hiding places could be found along the way. Thanks Wiser than Owls for creating the series, we will be back some day to complete it.
Our last day in Rutherglen to grab a few more of the Easter Wherigo caches. We will need to return to finish them off, which is a great excuse for another road trip.
Most caches were found easily and in excellent condition. A few tested us and we needed to expand our search radius, but on the whole it was a fun experience driving around these quiet roads.
Cheers Wiser than Owls for placing and maintaining this excellent series.

Decided it was time to start on the EASTER 2023 Wherigo caches placed along the roads around the Rutherglen area. Some worked well but the co-ords for many were well off the mark and it was quite a challenge to locate them, together with ilook4geo. Still we carried on searching, but some did take rather a long time to pick up some. Better luck tomorrow. TFTC.
Out hunting with goingplaces2 on a very windy day. Found a reasonable amount despite the conditions. TFTC.

The plan... hit the road early and try and get as many of the 154 wherigos found and logged as possible.
Prior to arriving at the Mega event in Rutherglen, I had not heard of a reverse wherigo, and I surely had no idea how to solve one. During the first get-to-gether luncheon thing that I attended, I had a chat with a Cacher from up north, who helped me figure out what to do. With my new skills in hand, I found coordinates for all 154 wherigos.
Today, I set out to collect as many as possible. I met a bunch of different people in my travels (shout out to Skylizard who I spent most of the morning with and many others that I did one or two with along the way) and ended up finding 109 of them, logs signed, and replaced as found. I'm sure I could have done all 154, but I stopped for lunch, and by 4 pm, I was fading fast and decided to leave the rest for tomorrow.
Thanks for putting out this series, I now have another tool in my belt for future caching activities.
(All finds were pretty straightforward, in the most logical spot, unless otherwise stated)

Day 2 of the Rutherglen Mega for me and today I took the geohound (thought it would be too cold for snakes today). Volunteered at the Easter Egg hunt in the morning (was a quick task) and then off to find some caches. Easter Wherigoes as the main target (all 21 located) and some starting coordinates for the FTF multis. Got the latest souvenir (no hope without the Mega) and another lunch attended to catch up with my fellow cachers.
Nearly gave up on this one - searched a very large area but in the end I Overlooked it in its hide and found on the way back to the car.

The JAMS team (JJ52 allister w, mogni and sir_spectre) were on a road trip heading to the Rutherglen Mega event (staying in Corowa) for 3 days then winding our way home via Albury, Wangaratta, Bendigo and various other places in between. It was a great week with many more caches found than we expected. There were targeted caches, challenge caches, Ad Labs, events and various others to fulfill various statistics for the four of us. We were lucky with the weather, it rained a bit on our way over on Friday, then half a day after we left Wangaratta but on the whole it was great caching weather. We did drive a few slippery muddy roads, but nothing too bad. We also caught up with lots of people either at events or out in the field and enjoyed many great chats. All in all a fun time with lots of Victoria explored and then very tired when I arrived home. [^]

Exploring rural North East Victoria and South West New South Wales as part of the SPINZ team: Sidewaze, paddle chick, Isis58 and Nanzie from New Zealand. I’m really enjoying the landscape and seeing what goes on in this neck of the woods. All the different eucalypts, the pepper trees and other interesting plants. The colourful birds, some quite noisy and some very noisy. The many vistas - - beautiful in sunlight and shade. I loved visiting each and every cache and really appreciate the effort required to hide and maintain them. Thanks to the cache owners. Greetings from Aotearoa / New Zealand, happy caching and if you have yet to visit us across the ditch to see what we have to offer, do make sure you enter such a visit on your “to do” list.
Day 3 of our loop through Vic and SA then home.
Today I teamed up with dghoffy to finish off the Easter geoart this morning. G even got her Park Run in by running between a few of the caches along the way. I think we were doing these backwards as we only ran into other cachers coming the other way, with the odd one here and there swooping in to pick up a previous DNF that has now been replaced.
All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned.

Stamped as Mystery Randoms as this was a group assault with a number of South Australian geocachers. Found while atttending the Victorian Mega in Rutherglen. Some of these were tricky to spot.

At the Easter Mega with Flaggy's, MooFlagg & tflagg67. I worked out the coordinates for these, but we aren't going to have a chance to find them all this weekend. Nice to add some WhereIGos to our numbers. We had fun driving along the road and finding them. I appreciate the caches as they aren't cheap. Apologies for the generic log. Tftc.
in town for the mega. Today I was out caching with Grub Fred, pprass, Lee737, Samuel737 & the_garbageman , we had an awesome day, with lots of laughs and fun. We saw 3 snakes and a possum along with plenty of other wildlife as well. The weather was great not too hot or too cold and we found all the caches we attempted. We signed the caches as NSW1. Thanks for the cache, wiser than Owls tnln replaced as found sl
SpidermonkeysMom and I viewed this series with some concern as we had got bogged nearby the day before!!. In fact the roads here were far better than we expected. We joined a "gaggle" of South Aussie caching teams to tackle this huge geoart. Most were quick finds but a few were challenging...... requiring us to extend our search area!! Thankyou for a memorable series!!
**Rutherglen Mega Day 2**
Today was the BIGGEST day for us! An early start, with the goal of completing the entire "Easter" Wherigo series and "BBP" series. A couple other stragglers and new caches diverted our attention briefly, but we were able to stick to the goal until after the sun went down!
My long standing record from 5 years ago of 200 caches in a day was smashed out of the park! Unsure of final numbers, but definitely in excess of that record!

Special thanks to all the people we had the pleasure of caching with today outside of BLAST, including Flintstone's, Dino, Tankengine, dty73, Youban, mtrax, Jamin Appleford & "MR"
Apologies for generic logs on powertrails, I will always strive to write individual and detailed logs on those caches outside of the trails.

The SPINZ team is having a blast on this trip over for the Mega. We are slowly making our way round this trail cache by cache. Although the numbers aren't counting sequentially our predetermined route is working out very well so far TFTC # 19,318
Before we left Adelaide JJ52 solved all the wherigo's in this series for the JAMS team. At the Rutherglen Mega we got told that " a section and not a small one " had the co ords up to 30 meters out and some times not on the same side of the road as the final co ords for the puzzle. The roads were wet and muddy but if you followed the roads that the wherigos were on you were fine but if you tried to take a " short cut " between sections of the geo art you needed a 4X4 and then you might not get through, those sections got really torn up. All logs where stamped as " Mystery Randoms ". In one section we joined by some victorian and canberra cachers. For that section the logs maybe " Mystery Randoms or MR ".
Found with JAMS (( JJ52, Allister w, Mogni, plus sir_spectre ) Mitchell&hound wasn't with us this trip) crew. All logs stamped as JAMS to save log space. This trip we are off to the Rutherglen Mega and then slowly coming back to S.A. for a total of 8 dys and 7 nights. The targets of this trip are for JJ52 to get 11 more multi to get to 1000 multi's and a few more Victorian LGA's, Allister W was targeting 17 virtuals ( or as many as he could get ) a few more Victorian LGA's Mogni to make the Rutherglen Mega her 20, 000 find and also for her to complete all Victoria LGA's, sir_spectre needs 1 more multi to get to 1000 multi's and get his Victoria LGS's down to 2 LGA's left. We got 20 or more finds in a LGA if we stayed in there over night. We also detoured to stamp any challenge caches that we were " in the general area off " and to complete that challenge before we came back to S.A. This meant that some times dirt road (s) had to be walked down because they were to wet to drive down and/or haven't been repaired since last years flooding. We started off the holiday in the rain and then that cleared up only to start raining and a overnight thunder storm but most of the trip was dry. Over 600 caches found for the trip including over 120 lab stages in that total. Got to complete the GPS Maze at the Rutherglen Mega for a 2nd time. Allister w was the team driver for all of the Victorian part of the trip. I think this was the first trip ever to Victoria that the extension pole didn't get used but the 6.2 meter ladder did get a work out.

A weekend with Dino at the Victorian Mega in Rutherglen over Easter Friday to Sunday. To find lots of caches and have lots of fun. Quite rainy on Friday with a very painfully delayed trip over from
Canberra to make it here just before closing. Today's Saturday weather looks much nicer.

Visiting Rutherglen for the MEGA. Had the opportunity to solve these Wherigos Easter 2023 and now it is a matter of getting to them all before the weekend has ended. Had no issues with finding these caches apart from waivering GZ's. Arrived at most of the locations and just put the GPS away and used geosense. Most caches were out by 9 to 12m with one reaching as far as 30m from GZ.
It was a fantastic morning, no wind and reasonably warm. Had the roads all to ourselves too which was surprising but great. We enjoyed the hunt and found all we sought on day 1 apart from 1 which I will check coordinates today.
Thanks Wiser than Owls for this series, fabulous caches and hides. Sorry for the generic log but there really wasn't much more that I could say about them.

A long day of caching later and we finally finished this series! 9am to 4pm! OCW Mighty Minions, Grub Fred, pprass, The Garbageman and my Dad lee737.
What an eventful day! Met loads of other cachers and found lots of big bisons and systemas! We met a possum along the way and also 3 Big Grumpy Eastern Brown snakes! Nice to see a big group of smileys on the map!

Time for our next exciting geo adventure - Rutherglen Mega. NZ_B, the Seagnoid and I are here from NZ. Today is Day 4 and the plan was the main event this morning until 2, followed by the BBP series, but the road is to boggy. Luckily these roads were ok after the rains so wherigo it is! Lovely tree lined quiet roads with the occassional other cacher and a gorgeous sunset. About a third of them completed in the four hours we had to dusk. Logs are being signed as NZBITS for NZ_B, Itchyfeet2020 and The Seagnoid. Fantasic caching, thank you Wiser than Owls, can't wait to see it all done!
A drier day and dghoffy, minniek and geopup set off to complete the Easter series. Signing as dgh. A successful day was had with no dnfs. Thanks for setting up and maintaining this series for our enjoyment. Tftc
Day 4. The plan was to attend the Mega for the morning then head out to the BBP series. But the first couple we attempted were on a dry weather road only, and after yesterday's huge rain the road was mush. Abort or get stuck and get towed out. So we aborted and came here - all these roads were fine
The afternoon only allowed... 55 finds! Which turned out to be an average of 4 minutes per cache, incredibly fast going. No DNFs. Easy when there are three people looking! And so much fun. Really enjoyed it so far. Tomorrow we are doing something else, so will be back finishing this in a few days.
Found during an awesome 10 day Aussie trip, centered around the Rutherglen Mega event. Log signed as NZBITS, for NZ_B, Itchyfeet2020 and the Seagnoid.

What a fun day!
We were out on the backroads with pprass, Mighty Minions, the_garbageman and grub fred, and found the entire Easter 2023 geoart. We signed logs as NSW1.
Three large brown snakes added to the thrills, one estimated over 2m long…. We had a bunch of laughs over nearly 8 hours of solid caching. TFTC!

Rutherglen turned up a pretty nice day today.
After a sleep-in, we did some more AdLabs, pathtag trading, and a few events, then all the BBP series, which included some hairy roads. Then FTF madness kicked in and we raced for a few but without luck. So we ended up rounding up as many multi finals as possible before heading into town for dinner, pizza again! Still excellent. I got my 13,500th cache somewhere amongst all this. Currently logging at the same time that we night cache the Easter 2023 wherigos!! Its going to be a nice sleep in tomorrow. Tftc
