I was in Chch for a few days after going down to Dunedin for the mega and as i needed to pick up a parcel from belfast Post shop we visited a few caches in the area and this was onr of them . It was interesting standing here looking over th ground across the road and imaging the farm and stock etc over there . Ah1 Not the road side where we were looking over the farm ! so after fruitless searching we thought Ah Ha other side and soon it was in hand ,all was good with the cache here and i took nothing and left nothing .
Down from Whangarei for a few days, so just had to make sure to grab a few caches whilst down here. This was a nice quick find here for me in the hint location. TFTC
For some reason this took longer than it should have to find. No muggles around
I am staying in Christchurch with a geocaching friend for an extra long long weekend. But her family are NOT morning people, so after the three S's and some breakfast and still no sign from the rest of the household I grabbed the keys and headed out the door. It's a very cloudy day, so I can't tell if dawn has happened or not yet, but there is plenty of daylight. So I rocked up here and dove into the bushes - and found the cache! I was seriously expecting it to be on the other side of the fence.
Out today with busy paws to find a couple of caches. Stopped here as like number 3, and had a dnf so all good now. Thanks for this cache Aslan*.
TFTC! was really cool learning about yhe sigmificance of this area for you and your family too
Sadly, I lost my pencil on the way to the hiding spot. So I took a picture just to confirm to find. Thanks for the fun.
Find number 6 and last of this little trip. Its nice to see a cache from a hider with a personal connection to the location. Things certainly have changed around here. I grew up on the other side of town, but vaguely remember a school trip to an orchard around Styx Mill Rd. That is all housing now, has been for a while. Things change pretty quick.Easy find of cache, not so easy of my glasses, I was sifting around here for quite a while.TFTC Aslan. With most of the pressing preparations for Christmas Day out of the way, and a few hours before family are due to visit, I jumped on the bike for a quick tour around Casebrook and the neighbouring area to get some caches.A bit hit and miss today. Some easy finds, some DNFs. The main drama was misplacing my glasses and having to backtrack a few times before I found them under a bush. Could have done without that drama, but happy for the lucky find in the end. Thanks all COs. Bigger caching days to come hopefully.
Found with ivss_xx. This one fills in an elusive box on my date grid. Four left to go!
Heading out today for day 7 of my trip to Christchurch with tmann421.Had fun finding all caches, some were much easier than othersSigned all logs tm/ww NZThanks to cache owners for their efforts
Down in the Christchurch area with woolwood9. Day 7 - A fine day, although a bit cooler.SL *tm/ww NZ*Thank you for the reason to visit this cache and location Another quick one today.*Good find and hide.*
A quick find once I was on the right side the second time round lol! I must have been completely blind when I took the first look at the right side. TFTC!!!
I grew up on a dairy farm in the UK. We only had 100 cows. My daughter has a part time job on a dairy farm over here and milks 1100 cows!
The cache was a quick find. TFTC.

In Christchurch with AlpiSteve for Matariki Weekend and we stopped here on our way home after picking R up from Pegasus. Nice quick find when on the right side TFTC
Late logging for this one. Found it around the new year but didn’t log it … whoops
Nbr 6 of 100 wheel of fortune challenge for April. The lush green grass here speaks of good farming land, but it is nearly all housing now. Grabbed TB. TFTC and history lesson.

As a previous finder said, I also liked the personal story and connection behind this cache.
Actually, without it this would probably seem a very odd name for the cache, especially, as the are grows more and more residential over time.
A quick find here, and I put a TB in. An NZ Money TB. All that money that NZ get from the dairy farming

Kia ora! Paldies!
Thanks for the cache, Aslan*!

A wee stop on our way home from some random caching and bus/RV conversion supply pick-ups- our normal Monday routine.
Today we have Wtiger1717 (cachlet) with us as it's still school holidays.
I really enjoyed the personal story behind this cache location- I could almost imagine the cows and paddocks around as I read your description.
A nice easy find, all in good order.
Thanks for sharing some local history and context for the area, much appreciated

Another month another cache to start the month. Deserted area today. Thanks for the cache
Last one for the day. That's enough for me.
I have a similar story of an upbringing on the family sheep farm in Northern Southland in the 70s. Everybody knew everybody. Swimming in the river, building huts. Long twilight's in the summer. Hard Fridays and danke in the winter. Ironically it's now a dairy farm... But it's a shame you don't realize until years later, those were the best days of your life.
Cheers

Last one for the day...... Sent Mumbo11 in to retrieve it while I stayed in the car..... TFTC
A gorgeous autumn day and both StreetWalkerNZ and I needed a cache today to add one to our find tally for 3 May, so had a drive after lunch.
Nice wide berm suitable for parking as there still seems to be a lot of traffic on this road and SW made a quick find.
Thanks for the interesting page write up. It seems rather short sighted to convert good farming land into residential housing. TFTC.

#21242. This was supposed to be my first full day back in the office after three months of working from home (helping Troodles recover from her broken arms, and then a couple of weeks of holidays). I'd been at work just over an hour when I got a call saying someone we had seen on the weekend had tested positive for COVID, so it was time to head home for another week of working from home. On the plus side, it meant I was home at lunch time, so we were able to go out and find a cache at lunch time. Quick find here. TFTC.
Interesting story on the cache page, thanks for sharing. The cache was a quick stroll and grab, no damage and the log is dry. Been driving by this area for years without noticing this reserve; TFTC
It was such a nice morning that I just had to go for a bike ride. The only question was where? A quick review of available unfound caches produced this cache as my closest-to-home cache. So off I set on the new(ish) Kaiapoi to Christchurch cycleway as far as the southern side of the Waimakariri Bridge then it was down and under the motorway to join the Otukaikino Track that follows the Otukaikino Stream to Dickies Rd and on the other side of the road leads into and through The Groynes dog park.
The cache was a quick find. TFTC Aslan*. My return to Dickies Rd and the Otukaikino Track was made via the track that leads from the Groynes entrance road just before the motorway overbridge and passes around the back of Belfast. That made it a pleasant 24km morning ride.

I needed to travel a wee way to get a second cache for the day that wasn't a multi, or a mystery, (saving for a couple of challenge caches). My phone was terrible for caching, but the Montana didn't have this one loaded, so beggers cant be choosers.
Thanks for the hide Aslan*. It was a very informative timeline!

I took a few detours on the way to lunch at my parent's place. Some of the detours involved collecting information for multi caches too.
I found this one with Mum.
Thanks for hiding this cache Aslan* I appreciate it.

I'd forgotten Anchor butter which was what we used in the UK 1950s, alongside Echo 'marge'(rine) which was cheaper and used in cooking. I grew up on a 100 hectare farm north of London with maybe ?20 dairy shorthorns and a Hereford bull, as tennant famers on part of the Marquis of Salisbury's Hatfield House estate. It was hard to get help apart from Mr Night and Mr Day and the land girls Maureen, Doreen and Noreen. The cows all had flower names like Aster Bluebell and Marigold and we were first on the morning milk collection so the churns had to be ready early az. Blue labels for milk and red for cream. Then butterfat prices sank and we moved.Mmm warm milk straight from the cow. Tftc
**FTF** 1005am with meandpedro
Saw the publication early this morning but i was on my way out to help MrsTG MRI scan some sheep....once she dudnt need me any more i saw this one was still unlogged so detoured out this way. Pulled up just as MeandPedro arrived. Nice. A joint effort soon had us making the find and sign. Nice history Aslan....I came to chch in the mid 90s for uni and i seem to recall the milking sheds over the road....
Cheers.

The usual beat me to it but nothing on line when I headed this way. Should have gone when I first saw the alert but the baby in the house thought Grandma should play with him. Very interesting read, Aslan*. The personal stories are always the best. Thanks for sharing!

Joint FTF An interesting history lesson. A sunny morning and closeish to home. TFTC
A really interesting background story there and some fun facts as well!!! Found quite quickly after following some rather large footprints. Thank you Gr. We don't think of dairy farms quite so close to residential areas. Times are a changing!!!
